Chapter 3 - Stranded
Years later, an unconscious Doc was shown stranded on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. His lab coat's sleeves and pant legs were torn a bit. A few seconds later, a huge dark-furred creature walked to him.
"Mook," the creature spoke, causing the Doc to stir.
The creature resembled a huge hulking monochrome meerkat. More of its kind had gathered behind it.
The Doc then passed out.
"Wakey, wakey, eggs and bakey," a voice echoed.
The Doc awoke on a bed in a room sometime later. On his blanket was a breakfast tray. The plate had bacon and eggs. By the plate were a juice glass and a coffee mug.
"Oh, good," the owner of the voice, a middle-aged scientist wearing glasses, said. "You're awake. I'm so glad to be meeting the owner of the Cagliostro Labs building in Massachusetts face to face."
"How…" the Doc started to ask. "How do you know who I am? What's going on here?"
"Why, I am Dr. Screwloose," the middle-aged scientist answered. "I welcome you to my island."
The monochrome meerkat creatures entered the room.
"What are those creatures?" Dr. Cagliostro asked. "They seem familiar to me."
"They are known as Mooks," Dr. Screwloose replied. "They are my babies. They keep me company on this desolate island."
"I can see why you don't come off the island more often," Dr. Cagliostro said, shrugging.
"Tell me, Doctor," Dr. Screwloose began. "What brings you to my island?"
"Well, I should tell ya', it wasn't easy," Dr. Cagliostro replied, about to eat a piece of egg from the plate. "I was stranded here."
"I was on a boat with about fifty passengers. But suddenly, we were invaded. A mob boss had ordered his men to take our money and valuables. I didn't want to get mugged, so I took a jolly boat and rowed off.
After rowing for many hours, I came across the island. At first, when I came ashore, I felt hungry and thirsty. So, I decided to take a coconut from a palm tree.
Many days had passed since, but no help had come. I feared that the end would come for me, so I passed out. That's when your Mooks found me."
"You poor thing," Dr. Screwloose understood. "Nobody wants to be alone."
"What about you, Dr. Screwloose?" Dr. Cagliostro asked. "What made you come to the island?"
"Well," Dr. Screwloose began, "let's just say that it was my rudeness that eventually brought me here."
"Rudeness?" Dr. Cagliostro repeated.
