Chapter Nineteen- spending time with the Family
Six whole months have passed after Riki was born. It was now around June and Gohan was now 51, they were currently at home. They had moved into a new house for their family as the two got a moderately sized house last month. It was nothing special but it was perfect for the family that they were creating.
Though the new house did help from the duplex, the two half-Saiyan parents were always so busy with work and their jobs that they didn't save any time for the little baby until they both agreed to take a week or two off from work to take care and spend time with Riki.
They thanked Chi Chi for the big help in babysitting Riki but the two felt bad that they weren't seeing him as often as they hoped. Right now, Bulla was playing with her baby as Gohan was preparing the milk since he insisted he took care of making the food while Bulla changed his diapers. They were working together and not pushing each other to do everything for little Riki.
Riki was laughing at his mother's antics as the woman was playing peekaboo with him. "Peek...aboo!" Bulla smiled with glee, laughing with her baby as Gohan came back with the milk. He got on the ground with the other two, opening the cap to the bottle. "Hi, little guy!" He chuckled and picked up his son. "Are you hungry?" He asked and Riki cooed, trying to grab the bottle from his father's hands.
"Open wide!" Gohan chuckled and began to feed Riki when the baby opened his mouth, he fed Riki his bottle and looked at Bulla with his lovely eyes. "Can you believe it's only been six months since our son was born? He's already growing so big..."
Bulla nodded at what Gohan had said. "He is..he's becoming a big boy!" She chuckled and touched her son's head carefully. Riki's widow's peak was starting to become more visible as his face looked like his father's. It was so soft and yet gentle, she knew that Riki was going to become a great man in the future.
Gohan watched his son suck on the bottle as he gently removed it from his mouth after Riki was done. The baby was cooing as little whines did escape his little body. "I know buddy, I'll burp you." He smiled and puts him over his shoulder.
Bulla watched her boyfriend burp their baby as it took some time but Riki had finally burped, yawning sweetly in Gohan's arms. "Oooh, it's nappy time huh..." He chuckled softly and got up, putting him in the living room crib.
He came back and crossed his legs in front of Bulla, who was amazed by his parenting skills. Though that would be a given since this is Gohan's second child while this was her first.
Bulla and Gohan stared into each other's eyes as Bulla gave a sort of amazement, but doubtful look. Gohan had seen this, getting closer to Bulla as he wrapped an arm around her. "Hey, it's ok. You're doing fine!" He reassured Bulla. The maturity gap between their parenting skills was evident, but it did not go ignored by the two as they were self-aware and Gohan was always there to help. Especially on nights when Riki just cried too much to the point where they didn't go to sleep.
Though Gohan took care of that and just insisted Bulla sleep while he took care of Riki.
"You're a first-time parent, I'm happy to help you with anything you can't do. You'll learn as time goes on!" Gohan's soothing voice always made Bulla cheer up when she was feeling down, hugging her boyfriend close to her. Though she did need to take up with the harder tasks of taking care of their child.
The two were by each other's side, cuddling on the floor as their child slept. It was like this for a while so they both decided they wanted to sleep.
An hour later, Gohan had heard small little wails come from his son and immediately got up carefully. He didn't want to wake Bulla up from her nap. "Oh, buddy...did you go potty? Don't worry I'll change you out of that diaper." Gohan gently told his son and took him to the changing room.
Gohan hummed when he was changed Riki as the baby smiled so sweetly after he was out of his old diaper, cooing lightly as Gohan held him. "Mama's sleeping right now and I don't want to bother her. So let's play alone?" He asked, taking his son to their room.
Bulla woke up from her nap and saw that she was still laying on the floor, she got up groggily and noticed that Gohan and Riki were not present by her anymore.
She raised an eyebrow, feeling a lot of positive energy come from her and Gohan's room. The happy feeling was making her warm inside. Bulla opened the door to their bedroom and saw that Riki was laying in his small bed laughing at what Gohan was doing.
Gohan was in the great Saiyaman costume that Bulla gave him last Christmas, entertaining Riki as he hadn't notice that Bulla walked into the room. By the time he did Bulla was smiling at the man and Riki stopped giggling, his beady eyes looking at his mother.
"Surprised you didn't notice me sooner, you two were having lots of fun weren't you?" She asked, kissing her boyfriend's lips. Gohan blushed and took off his sunglasses. "Well I didn't want to wake you up, you looked peaceful and comfortable sleeping on the floor..." He chuckled, getting a small hug from his lover.
Bulla chuckled at Gohan's undoubted love for her, kissing one more time. "How considerate, our bundle of joy was having a lot of fun with the saiyaman costume wasn't he?" She asked, scooping Riki from his bed as he looked at his mother quizzically.
"He was, he loved how my cape sways." He chuckled and touched his cape, causing Riki to advert his attention to the long piece of cloth. Bulla smiled at her baby's curiosity as Riki's little hands reached for the cape, cooing loudly. He tried to lift his head a bit but Bulla was very careful with him.
Riki pouted when Bulla helped him, touching Gohan's cape as he lifted himself out of Bulla's arms. The two parents were immediately shocked at what their son was doing. Riki cooed and began to gnaw and play with his father's cape, in amazement, Bulla and Gohan let their son float. They would catch him if he loses balance.
Riki eventually did begin to lose balance and Bulla caught him right away, making Riki let out a small giggle at being caught. "Wow...Gohan, he just did that. He was floating! At six months!" Bulla exclaimed and hugged Riki gently to her, making the adorable baby laugh even more.
Gohan felt astonished when it happened and smiled a little, he remembered that it took Pan almost a year to float but Riki did have more Saiyan blood than his sister. "Yea..it's amazing! Guess he could be a really strong fighter when he grows up." He chuckled and Riki frowned at the statement, making little angry coos and noises to what his father had said.
The two noticed and they both laughed. "Ok, maybe not a fighter." Gohan chuckled, he looks at his son and grins. He was going to do great in whatever career he took and Bulla saw this too. Their son was going to be successful one day.
Riki looked at his parents and giggled loudly, the baby wanted to play and the two could see it. This was alright, their little family was alright.
Three years later...
Bulla and Gohan played with their now three-year-old son as they were unaware of what he was bothered with. Riki was looking at his parents and then their fingers as he was wondering something. This wondering made him a bit sad and he thought of the worst.
Riki sniffled when he forced himself not to cry and Gohan was quick to notice his son's expression. "Riki buddy, are you ok?" He asked his three-year-old son, this brought concern to Bulla as well.
"Hey buddy..what's wrong?" Gohan asked gently and wiped whatever tears Riki had formed, comforting his son as the little boy had to compose himself. "W-Why...aren't you wearing metal rings on your fingers? U-Uncle Goten, Uncle Trunks, and Aunt Marron are wearing them..." The little boy voiced his concerns, he knew that rings meant something, something about love and this had upset Riki a lot.
"Do you not love each other?"
The two parents heard their heartbreak when Riki had said that. They looked at each other and then back at Riki. "Of course, we love each other! Guess we didn't have time to put a ring on our fingers." Gohan smiled with a chuckle as this made Riki feel better. Bulla looked at Gohan, smiling at him. "Do you think it's time to get married?" She asked him telepathically and Gohan got the message.
He smiled at Bulla, holding her close to him with Riki. "...Yea, let's get married."
