Chapter 5

The Magnet

As soon as they got to the room, the doctors lifted the unconscious puppy off the gurney and onto a bed-like table at the foot of the machine. After they had laid him down, the table began to rise, before feeding him into the doughnut. The machine then began to emit various loud noises.

After 40 minutes of, "kht kht kht kht, MMM MMM MMM, mmm eee mmmm eee mmm eee," Ryder was seriously envying Rubble's lack of consciousness.

As soon as they were done, the table slowly came out of the doughnut and lowered. Once lowered, the doctors lifted him back onto the gurney and wheeled him out the door. Ryder followed the cart as the hospital staff wheeled him to a recovery room where a doggy bed was already waiting for him.

Once he was on the bed, Ryder began stroking him, and whispered in his ear "it's alright buddy, everything's going to be okay."

20 minutes later, the doctor came into the room, catching Ryder's attention. "Rubble's scans have been developed and are ready." Ryder nodded and followed him to a room with a backlit screen. The doctor then proceeded to place the scans on the screen. He then proceeded to talk for another 20 minutes about cavern novas, the uh Meg doll la, the frontal lobe, and the prefrontal Corps text. All the while, Ryder was quite thankful that Rubble wasn't there to make wise guy remark like "Come on, keep up." At the same time, he wasn't thankful that Rocky wasn't there, as he, in all likelihood, probably knew about this stuff, and might have understood what the doctor was talking about.

"Give it to me straight doc, is he going to be okay."

Notes:

Rubble being anesthetized: For an MRI, for those of you that have never had one, you have to remain still in spite of all the noise. Katie felt this would be too much for him to handle and opted to happen put under instead.
