Author's Note: I will be continuing with Kung Fu Ninja Turtles: Tales of New York, it's just chapters are going to be a lot longer and are taking a lot more time to write. Also, to a certain guest in the reviews, Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July will be coming in December this year, so don't expect to see anything about it over the summer, sorry to disappoint. Anyway, hope you enjoy this chapter!

Chapter 3: Piggyback Ride

"I am so boooored." Sonic groaned as he and Tails lounged lazily on the couch.

"I know." Tails sighed, resting his chin on his fist, equally bored. "You've been saying that for the past forty-two-point-seven minutes."

"Hey, it's not my fault we ran out of things to do today!" Sonic argued, throwing up his arms. "We've played all our video games, we've read all the comics we have, we played catch in the backyard with Ozzie, and even wrestled with Knuckles!" He rubbed his furry blue arm, grimacing. "I'm still feeling new bruises from that."

"So what do you suggest?" Tails asked, flopping back on the couch. "This day's been slow enough as it is."

And indeed Tails was right as it was only three in the afternoon despite everything Sonic and Tails had done.

Sonic stared out the open window of the house, spotting a random car speeding along the road.

"I think I have an idea…" Sonic grinned, rubbing his chin.

Tails' ears perked as he sat up. "Really? What?"

Sonic turned to his little brother with an eager smile on his face. "How about a piggyback ride?"

Tails frowned, unimpressed. "Dude, we already got mom and dad to give us one of those earlier today."

Sonic shook his head. "Not that kind of piggyback ride. My kind of piggyback ride."

"Are you sure this is safe?" Tails asked nervously as he clung tightly to Sonic's back, making sure to avoid his sharper quills.

"Positively absolutely sure!" Sonic reassured, readjusting his hold on Tails to make sure he stayed on. "I used to do this all the time with my pet turtle!"

The two of them were in the middle of the empty highway on the outskirts of town with wide grassy plains, so it was unlikely they would run into any cars coming their way. It had taken some convincing from Sonic, but Tails eventually agreed to come out and try his big brother's 'piggyback ride'.

"Okay, you ready, little bro?" Sonic asked, looking back at his kit while readying himself.

Tails, after a look of hesitance, smiled eagerly. "Let's do it to it!" He exclaimed, his trust and faith in Sonic overriding the more logical side of his brain.

Sonic smiled back. "Alright, hold on tight, buddy." He instructed. "Please keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs on the hedgehog at all times and be sure to watch kids."

"C'mon, let's go already!" Tails said, bouncing up and down on Sonic's back with excitement.

Sonic chuckled at his little brother's enthusiasm. "Alright then, here… we… GO!"

With a burst of speed, Sonic took off with the wind in his face as he ran at the speed of near sound. The blue hedgehog cheered, yelling several 'wahoos!'

Tails screamed at first as he clung to Sonic as tightly as he could, not used to going this fast. But as they kept going, with the cool wind coming into their faces and fur, Tails' scream turned into something of a joyous laughter as a smile formed on his face.

Sonic and Tails laughed excitedly as they continued to speed along the road at the speed of sound.

"HAVE YOU EVER FELT SO ALIVE?!" Sonic yelled over the howling winds.

"WOOOOOO!" Tails cheered, pumping his fists in the air with a wide grin on his muzzle as he felt the wind pelt his fur. "THIS! IS! SO! COOOOOOOOL!"

Sonic laughed. "THIS IS GREAT, YOUR DOING AMAZING!" He yelled, adjusting his hold on Tails.

"REALLY?!" Tails smiled happily as he hugged his arms around Sonic's neck to stay on.

"YEAH!" Sonic smiled back, feeling a sense of pride pulsing in his chest for his little brother.

"I THINK I CAN MAKE US GO FASTER!" Tails exclaimed with an excited grin.

"REALLY?!" Sonic yelled in surprise. "HOW?!"

Tails continued to smile as he stretched out his namesakes, spinning them rapidly like a propeller. Soon enough, the two found themselves going even faster than before, much to their immense delight.

"BEST PIGGYBACK EVER!" Sonic and Tails both screamed ecstatically as they dashed down the empty road, laughing all the way.

Tom sat in the front seat of his patrol car, feeling rather bored about being stationed in the outskirts of town again. Few cars had passed by, but then again hardly any did, all of them going around the speed limit or slower.

Another car passed him by, a Subaru from the looks of it, the velocity speed gun registering it at forty miles per hour.

Tom sighed as he ate another sprinkled donut. "Well, Sergeant Sprinkles, looks like it's going to be another silent day on the road."

As if in response to that, a sudden blur of blue and yellow flashed by, followed by the sound of rushing wind and gleeful cheering before fading into the distance.

Tom jumped in his seat as the car rocked back and forth from the wind. He heard a beep and glanced at his velocity speed gun, his eyes widening as it registered the number.

3836.35 miles per hour.

Realizing immediately who was responsible for this, Tom stepped out of the car and looked down the road where Sonic and Tails had disappeared.

"Boys." He shook his head with a tired smile.

Later that evening, Sonic and Tails returned to the house after a long run, laughing so hard that they were crying as they reentered the house.

"Oh ho… man… that was great!" Sonic chuckled, wiping his tears of laughter from his eyes.

"You said it! Only Sonic the Hedgehog could give a piggyback ride that epic!" Tails giggled, placing a hand on his furry chest to slow his racing heart. "We've gotta do that again sometime!" He exclaimed excitedly.

"Oh, yeah, we're definitely doing that again!" Sonic replied with equal enthusiasm.

"Jokes aside, though, I had a great time today." Tails said, smiling adorably up at his big brother. "So, thanks, Sonic."

Sonic smiled back. "No problem, buddy." He said, ruffling Tails' bangs, earning a few giggles from the fox. "Hey, you wanna go play video games?"

"Sure!" Tails nodded eagerly as the two of them headed for the stairs to the attic.

However, just as they approached the stairs to the attic, they found themselves face to face with none other than Knuckles, who had his arms folded over his chest and a stern look on his face as he blocked the way to the stairs.

Sonic and Tails stopped in front of the echidna, eyeing him with slight wariness. Because whenever their eldest brother made that face, it usually meant they were in trouble.

"Uh, hey, Knuckles." Sonic spoke nervously while Tails clung anxiously to his side. "You… uh… gonna let us pass?"

Knuckles shook his head. "I'm afraid not." He said sternly.

Just then, Sonic and Tails' ears twitched as they heard footsteps approaching them from behind.

Turning around, Sonic and Tails looked up to see Tom and Maddie standing behind them, arms folded over their chests and playful looks on their faces.

"Boys." Tom greeted with a faux frown.

Sonic and Tails gulped as they looked at each other before looking back up at their parents.

"Uh, h-hey, Donut Lord." Sonic stammered nervously, folding his arms sheepishly behind his back while he smiled anxiously. "Somethin' wrong?"

"Oh, no, it's nothing. It's just, I was out on patrol today when I could've sworn I saw a familiar blue and yellow blur pass me on the highway going over the speed limit." Tom stated nonchalantly. "Is there something you two want to say for yourselves?"

Sonic and Tails were practically sweating bullets at this point and their ears were folded downwards before they turned to each other.

"What do we do, Sonic?" Tails whispered to his older hedgehog brother. "They clearly know it was us. Should we tell them?"

"Hey, don't worry about it." Sonic whispered back, trying to be reassuring. "We'll just do what any other kids would do in this situation."

Tails raised an eyebrow in confusion. "Which is…?"

"Deny, deny, deny." Sonic answered with his fingers crossed..

Tails tilted his head slightly. "... Are you sure that's a good idea?" He questioned.

"Just go with it." Sonic insisted before turning back to Tom and Maddie. "Uh, yeah, we can explain that. That was just, uh… Some kids who looked like us are definitely not us…?" He said lamely.

Knuckles pounded his fists together. "Lies!" He exclaimed. "We know no-one else possesses the same speed as you, brother. And we know you were with him, fox!"

Sonic and Tails flinched at the aggressiveness of their eldest brother while Tom shook his head, clicking his tongue.

"You're right, Knuckles." Tom said in a low tone that put Sonic and Tails on edge. "I think we should show them what we do with lawbreakers in this town, right, Maddie?"

Maddie nodded before turning to the red echidna. "Knuckles," She said sweetly, getting the echidna warrior's attention, "would you be a dear and hold your brothers for us, please?"

"Of course, Mother." Knuckles nodded before grabbing Sonic and Tails by their arms before they could attempt to get away.

"Hey!" Tails cried, trying futilely to pull his arm away.

"Dude, not cool!" Sonic protested, also trying to break free from Knuckles' grip to no avail.

"You brought this upon yourselves, boys. Now you gotta deal with the consequences." Tom shrugged as he and Maddie approached them, kneeling down to their level.

Sonic and Tails looked at each other before they both gulped.

"What are you planning to do with us?" Sonic asked while Tails shivered.

Tom and Maddie glanced at each other before they both grinned mischievously.

"Well… remember that one time you both refused to get out of bed before school?" Maddie said with a grin.

Sonic and Tails' eyes both widened as they realized exactly what she meant.

"You wouldn't dare." Tails breathed.

Tom and Maddie both smirked, raising their hands and wiggling their fingers. "Try us."

Sonic and Tails both giggled nervously as they tried to back away as much as they could, though in Knuckles' grasp, they couldn't get far.

"No. No, please! Anything but that!" Sonic pleaded dramatically as Tom and Maddie's wiggling fingers brushed over his and Tails' chest fur.

"Please! Have mercy!" Tails cried, just as dramatic while giggling a bit as well.

"Too late!" Tom and Maddie both exclaimed before they dove in, wiggling their fingers on Sonic and Tails' stomachs.

"No! NO! NAAAAHAHAHAHAHA!" Sonic yelled in laughter.

"NOHOHOHO FAHAHAHAIR!" Tails shrieked with laughter as he and Sonic squirmed in Knuckles' grip.

Tom and Maddie laughed as well as they continued to tickle their two youngest boys while even Knuckles smiled in amusement.

"STOP! STAHAHAHAHAHAHAP!" Sonic begged.

"MERCY! MEHEHEHEHERCY!" Tails laughed, still squirming.

"Okay, I think that's enough." Tom chuckled as he and Maddie ceased their tickling endeavor, both of them laughing a little as well.

Knuckles was still smiling in amusement as he let go of Sonic and Tails, letting them fall to the ground.

Sonic and Tails both panted heavily as they were still giggling from the tickle torture they had just endured.

"Now, think you boys have learned your lesson?" Tom asked with a teasing grin.

"Ohoho… you bet we did…" Sonic smirked as he stood up, helping Tails up as well. "Next time, we'll go even faster!"

"Yeah, so fast you won't even catch us!" Tails added.

Tom laughed. "Wrong answer, boys!" He said as he and Maddie got ready to tickle them again.

"C'mon, let's get out of here!" Sonic said to Tails, grabbing his hand and dragging him past Knuckles before he could catch them, with Tails laughing the whole way.

The rest of the day practically boiled down to Sonic and Tails being chased around the house by the parents and their eldest brother, occasionally getting caught and tickled, but overall having a good time.

And as the sun went down over the horizon and dinner was had and everyone was tucked in, Sonic and Tails would never forget the amazing time they had out on the road.

"Best piggyback ever." They would both think before they drifted off to the land of dreams.
