The two enter the restaurant. It's very lively since it was the end of the day and people were having their dinner here. A talking Kimbap greets the two at the entrance.
"For two?" Kimbap says.
"Yes Please!" Boardy says. Announcer silently nods in annoyance. Kimbap walks Boardy and the Announcer to their table.
"Feel free to look at the menu and ring the bell when you are ready to order," Kimbap says before leaving. Boardy looks through the menu.
"I've never been to a Korean BBQ before," Boardy says.
"Do they not have Korean BBQs in Canada?" Announcer says.
"They do. I just never had time in my schedule for it" Boardy says.
"I just assumed this place would be too basic for you," Announcer says.
"Well, it's not nice to assume," Boardy says. "I think we should get option A. It's got thin sliced pork belly, some chicken, jajangmyeon, and egg stew"
Boardy rings the bell and Kimbap comes back. Boardy orders for the table.
"Would you two like something to drink?" Kimbap says.
"Just water please," Announcer says.
"I'll take a soda please," Boardy says. Kimbap nods and leaves to get their order.
"So…Banana has been telling me all about you" Boardy says.
"He has?! I hope he didn't mention anything embarrassing about me" Announcer said.
"Oh he didn't reveal much," Boardy said. "Just the fact that you live in you car, eat like Randy Quaid and you're emotionally vulnerable"
"THAT SON OF A-" Announcer says. He hides his face in his hands. Boardy chuckles.
"He also said that you like long walks on the beach, your favorite color is gray, you have a secret stash of manga, you like mint chocolate ice cream-"
"HE TOLD YOU ABOUT MY MANGA?!" Announcer said. "Listen, the Banana Nephews got me into it and dangit I am hooked. I don't want the cherries to have more fuel against me so that's why I keep it in a safe stash. I don't know how Banana got to it. I've hid it pretty well"
Boardy chuckles. "That's so cool," Boardy says.
"You think it's cool?" Announcer said.
"Well, I'm not one to judge someone's literary taste," Boardy says. "Especially if they have good tastes"
Announcer blushes a little at that compliment.
"Well um," Announcer says. "Have you ever heard of Oshi No Ko?"
Kimbap comes back with the meat, chicken, black bean ramen and the egg stew.
"What? No Kimbap?" Boardy says. Kimbap gives him a glare.
"Kidding!" Announcer says. Kimbap chuckles.
"Enjoy your meal you lovebirds!" Kimbap said.
"How did you know this was a date?" Boardy says.
"I've been working at this restaurant chain for 20 years. I know a date when I see one" Kimbap said.
"How have you been working here for 20 years if this place just opened?" Announcer asks.
"Because I used to work at the South Korean location. My family and I moved here thanks to my pen pal Banana. He let us open a restaurant at Shovelware Citywalk Hollywood. We've been doing good so far" Kimbap says.
"Awww, that's so nice of Banana" Boardy says.
"Now when is he giving me that raise?" Announcer says. Boardy and Kimbap chuckles.
"I'll make sure to tell him," Kimbap says. He turns to leave and Announcer puts some meat on the grill.
"Koreans are so smart. Charge people for raw meat and then have them cook it themselves" Announcer said. "What will they think of next?"
"My cousin is a Samsung Phone and she says that there is an all you can eat ramen place where there is no staff at all" Boardy said.
"No staff?!" Announcer said. "But who will be there if someone steals something?"
"Oh, the Koreans know better," Boardy said.
"I should put Seoul on my travel list," Announcer said. "Right next to Canada!"
"You want to visit Canada?" Boardy said. "You know, I can pay for your ticket if you want. I know all the best places"
"Really?" Announcer said, blushing.
"Of course, I do have a lot of money from tours," Boardy says.
"No need to rub it in," Announcer says, crossing his arms.
"I didn't mean it like that!" Boardy says. "Oh geez!"
A banana mom and her three babies walk past them. They find their seats and take off their disguises, revealing Dancing Banana and the Banana nephews.
"Oh, they're already arguing," Banana says. "Lame"
"Uncle, can we get the tteokbokki?" Oldest Nephews says going through the menu.
"Go ahead, and get the ramyun too" Banana says.
Banana watches as Boardy gets all nervous as he tries to apologize for his wording.
"He's blowing it!" Banana said. "I thought Boardy was better than this"
"You don't know how hard I have it," Announcer says. "I live in my car, I have $30,000 in credit card debt and when they call I tell them I can't pay it back yet!, and Everytime I ask the Banana for a raise, he just changes the subject! I don't know how much longer I can live like this"
"I'm sorry to hear that," Boardy said. "Listen, I'm the richest person in all of Canada. I have so much money that I don't know what to do. Maybe I can help you with your credit card debt and other things"
"Really? That's so nice of you" Announcer said. "I've never had anyone care so much about me"
"Well, you're my date. I need to impress you somehow" Boardy says. They both laugh.
"By the way, I played your obby" Boardy says.
"Really? What did you think? I worked really hard on it ya know" Announcer said.
"I thought it was great! And I got a badge at the end!" Boardy said.
"I'm so glad you liked it. Unlike those cherries, They were so rude!" Announcer says.
"Those cherries are pretty nice" Boardy says.
"Yeah because they don't find you annoying!"
"I don't think you're annoying"
Announcer suddenly stops at that comment. "Y-you don't?" he says.
"Of course not! You're the coolest person I know" Boardy said. "Your jokes are so funny and you're so nice to everyone on set. Not to mention you're very handsome"
Announcer blushes again. "I-I am?"
"Yeah, I like your glasses," Boardy says.
"Th-th-thank you" Announcer says.
Banana sighs in relief as the two start happily chatting again. He stares at the camera.
"I love a happy ending," Banana says. "But I hope they know that their meat is burning"
After their meal, Boardy and Announcer pay for the meal and exit the building.
"I should get to my car," Announcer said. "I parked it in the Bazuki parking lot"
"Oh, that's not a good idea," Boardy said. "The park gives you a ticket if you stay overnight in the parking lot"
"That explains all the tickets," Announcer says. "But I need to be as close to my job as I can"
"There's the Shovelware Studios hotel," Boardy says. "I can pay for your room if you want"
"You will? Oh, that's so kind of you!" Announcer said. "Thank goodness I matched with you"
They both laugh again as they take Announcer's car to the hotel. As promised, Boardy pays for their rooms, which they coincidentally get rooms next to each other. They meet up before it's time for bed.
"Thanks again for today," Announcer said. "I'll be honest, I haven't had this much fun in years"
"I'm glad you had fun, I did too!" Boardy says. There's an awkward silence between the two.
"Well, good night!" Announcer says before running back into his room.
"Wait!"
The door closes.
"...Well I mean, not everyone gets a kiss on the first date" Boardy says. "I should call Banana in the morning"
Boardy then walks back into his room.
