I do not own Hetalia, okay? I'm hoping to get this done sone. I have a few things planned in the next time skip fic. I don't have much to say here on this one honestly, so enough of the A/N, on with the fic!
"We'll bring them back in a few days." Arthur said.
"School starts back on the 3rd." Alfred said.
"Not much of a break…." Alistor replied.
"To be fair they got off for Christmas break on like the 17th of December or something like that. They've been out for like two weeks." Alfred pointed out. "But it's okay, they get outby the first week of June and then we can take them for vacations and well you can have them as much as you want."
"I want to show Winnie some of the stuff I got for Christmas. Can't wait to go back to school!" Nikita smiled. "I want to know what she got so bad… but she said that she had left for Australia when school had let out."
"Ah." Alistor said. "I'm sure you'll see your friend real soon."
"And her dad promised to bring me some Vegemite too." Nikita said. "If it's anything like Fairy Bread I had when I slept over at her house, it is bound to be good." Arthur smiled knowingly. If Nikita really was as much alike to Alfred as she came off, she was going to be mortified if his reaction to marmite was any indication. He knew that marmite and Vegemite weren't exactly the same, but they were a lot alike.
"It's wonderful you're willing to try new things." Arthur smiled.
"But not s-car-go" Nikita said. "Doctor says it will make me sick."
"We would never think of letting that happen to you ma petite fille" Francis said. He then looked over slightly at Ivan and Alfred who would not take it well that either of their children have an allergic reaction under somebody else's watch. They were both fiercely protective of their children. "But let's get you two packed up for a few days with your grandfathers."
"And Grunkle Al!" Nikita said as she ran over to him, took his hand and pulled him over to the television where the PlayStation was hooked up and there were videogames. "Ded Moroz got me this one!" She said holding up the video game.
"Awww isn't that sweet?" Alistor said as he ruffled Nikita's hair. "I will be sure to make time to play with you while I am getting treated."
"Maybe we can visit?" Nikita asked.
"Well, I live far away." Alistor said.
"Well Winnie and her dad used to live in Australia." Nikita said. "That's really far away."
"Well Scotland is still far away," Alistor smiled. "But not that far away."
"We'll just have to see what we can do for visiting Nikita." Ivan smiled. "Now go pack a backpack with your pajamas and a few changes of clothes."
"Same for you big guy." Alfred said to Dimitri. With this the twins ran to their rooms and packed up a few changes of clothes, their pajamas and a few toys to take with them to their grandfathers' house. Grabbing the new board games, they were given, Alistor waved goodbye to Alfred and Ivan as Dimitri and Nikita had waved back.
"We will bring them back before they have to go to school." Arthur said.
"I don't want to miss school." Dimitri said.
"Yeah, my friends will be there." Nikita said.
"That is a very important part of school. But don't forget your studies." Ivan smiled.
"Indeed." Arthur nodded. "Well come along kids." Arthur smiled. While Nikita, Dimitri and Charlotte had been over to their house before, it was not with just him and Francis; their parents were over for a visit and then they would go home. Sure, they had stayed over for Christmas, but Alfred and Ivan were there too and there was the whole unexpected arrival of his brother Alistor. However, he cherished the time he had with Matthew and Alfred when they were not much older than Nikita and Dimitri were. He knew that they were going to grow up and have lives of their own eventually and he could not stop that time. However now that they had grandchildren, it would be just like that time again, only they didn't have to look after them all the time and could spoil them guilt free and send them back to their parents. And they did seem to take to Alistor well and they were kind of something that was helping them mend their bond that was ruined years ago. It always seemed to break up tension when it was there. Francis had tried with the two, but it had never quite seemed to work when he did it.
"Say goodbye to your Daddy and Papa kiddies." Alistor said.
"Bye Daddy, Bye Papa." They said as they ran over and hugged Ivan and Alfred's legs.
"Have fun with your grandpas." Alfred said as he ruffled Nikita's hair.
"Be good and have fun. Listen to your grandfathers." Ivan smiled back.
"We will take good care of them, don't you worry." Francis said as he smiled at Ivan and Alfred. "Use this time to have yourselves a good time."
"Don't worry Papa, I've got some ideas..." Alfred said.
"Good. It's important to keep your love lives alive even after children." Francis said as Ivan, Alfred and Arthur looked away. They all knew that Francis had a point. But it was still embarrassing to hear. "Well, au revivor."
"See you guys later. Be good you two and have lots of fun." Alfred smiled.
"See you Daddy, Papa!" Nikita and Dimitri said as Francis and Arthur waved and shut the door behind them.
Alfred and Ivan stood at the doorway and looked out the window as Arthur and Francis put Nikita and Dimitri into their car and Alistor had put the twin's backpacks and various games and toys they had wanted to bring with them in the trunk. As they watched them head out of the driveway, Alfred grabbed Ivan's hand and smiled. "You know, I haven't had a chance to give you what I had planned for your birthday big guy."
"You don't have to..." Ivan began.
"Yes, I do." Alfred said pulling Ivan close and kissing him deeply. ". You're one of the best things to happen to me What do I have to do to get through to you to see that I love to celebrate the day of your birth?"
"Oh, I don't know..." Ivan smirked as he pulled Alfred closer, part of him was enjoying the time he now had to spend with his husband all alone and having the house entirely to themselves, something that was a very rare treat anymore. However, part of him was worried that someone would come back in the house, like that Nikita or Dimitri had forgotten something and then would have wanted to come back to get it and that would make for an embarrassing conversation. "Maybe once more tonight?"
"We have the whole night. I hope you don't need just once." Alfred smirked.
"Well then." Ivan began. "Let's not wait any longer." With this Alfred pulled Ivan on top of him and kissed him deeply.
"Happy birthday, even if it is a little late." Alfred said.
Meanwhile, Natalya was looking over the next semester's textbook while Toris and Feliks were talking. His next semester was starting soon as well, but it was important for him to have a few moments as the holiday ended and while Feliks was not leaving until a few days after the semester started, it would be a hard time to find time to really spend time. Toris was serious about his studies, and he wanted to be able to provide a good life for Natalya and their future family. He wanted to have her have a chance to spend time at home if she wanted. He was not going to make her stay home if she didn't want to when it came to their future family, but he also didn't want her to feel like she had to keep working. He loved her and it was a goal of his to make sure that he was able to provide. He also dreamed of when his parents got too old to really live their own lives to be able to take care of them, be it still in America or move back to Lithuania. It was something he had still thought of moving but it was not something that he was really wanting as much as before, nor could he convince Natalya to leave her family at this point and he couldn't imagine doing that to Dimitri nor to keep Natalya from seeing Nikita so much.
"So, I booked the tickets." Feliks said.
"Huh?" Toris asked.
"For your guy's wedding in June man. I have to get here in time to throw you the swinging bachelor party, I am so contacting your friends and they will help me throw the biggest party yet! And I will have Nattie's dress perfect. I have all the measurements down so don't go gaining weight- OW!" Feliks said as she threw at textbook at his face. "What was that for?"
"A comment on my weight." Natalya said. "And that nickname, Nattie, that's the same as Alfred does and it is annoying from him too." She growled.
"So?" Feliks asked as Toris placed his face in his hands. God help me, she gets along with Feliks as well as she does Alfred, but I don't have Nikita to help both parties to keep their cool. "It's a fun nickname. And you can be quite a drag sometimes... OW!" He said as a notebook went flying at him.
"Feliks, Natalya, can you maybe calm down?" Toris sighed. "I care about you both deeply. I will have you know Feliks that Natalya takes good care of herself, and I doubt unless there is a sudden medical issue that comes up that you would have to worry about having to make too many alterations to the dress for the wedding." He said to Feliks. "And Natalya, while he said it in an incredibly rude way, it is a lot of work making a custom dress, especially when you are doing it long distance so it would make things easier if you don't have any change in your measurements in that time frame. You likely won't but can you imagine how much work it would be for him if there were something that was that much work and that intricate in a short time?"
"It was rude, but I guess you are right..." Natalya sighed. "I do need to talk to Ms. Bonnefoy about your parents staying at the resort. Elizaveta plans to have the spa up and running at the end of May and I am sure your mother would like that." Natalya said, trying to defuse the tension.
"Yeah, Mamma Laurinaitis would love a nice massage after everything like that. Mother of the groom needs to look great." Feliks smiled. "Maybe she would play mother of the bride. Since it's just you and your siblings..."
"Well, I had already asked big brother to do the 'give away the bride role' and the twins are going to be the ring bearer and flower girl." Natalya said. "They did the same when one of Alfred's friends got married back last fall." Natalya explained. "They were so cute in the outfits they were given."
"What was it like?" Feliks asked.
"Let me find the picture at Mr. Alfred had sent." Toris said. "It was interesting according to him. It was his one friend who was a businessman who married a girl from Taiwan. She wanted to have the ceremony be western style, but the dress was traditional eastern." He shared a picture of Alfred, Ivan, Nikita and Dimitri in Japanese style wedding outfits.
"That actually is pretty cool of an idea." Feliks said. "And they do look so cute in that. Amazing they got Ivan in a kimono for a man that size."
"They were custom made and yes, the tailor said they hadn't worked with someone that big. He was mainly brought on as Alfred's friend didn't have as many friends as his wife's side and they asked him to be the last member of the party." Toris explained.
"Well have to give the couple this, it's an interesting idea to honor their heritages. I don't do much with Japanese or Taiwanese anyway, but I like it. The ceremony needs to be about the couple and how they like it. Not how it's always been done if that's not what they want." Feliks smiled "and that's why I want you guys to be brutally honest with me with the ideas you have. If I am going to be in charge of planning this thing, I want it to be so memorable that if you divorce, you still wouldn't regret the wedding."
"Why do you think we would divorce?" Toris asked.
"Statistics…." Feliks shrugged and maybe that Natalya can be a total bitch sometimes, don't know what you see in her dude but whatever. Got to remember that it is your love life and not mine. Just save the corny ball and chain jokes for the bachelor party, I guess.
"I am well aware of that statistic and when I agreed to marry Toris, I was certain we were compatible and would have told him honestly if I had not thought so." Natalya said.
"Well, I'm here for you bro if it goes south." Feliks said as both Toris and Natalya looked at him annoyed, hitting him with the corners of the books they were reading. "Okay, okay, I get it. Can I be the fun uncle when the kids are born then?"
"We'll see…" Natalya said, trying to push that conversation behind her.
"Okay I like that." Feliks smiled. Now I have to plan out my videos for the next few months and before I come over for the wedding, man it will be busy as hell so I will have time to juggle planning it all and will record some videos to just upload while making sure your wedding is the best ever."
"Thanks…." Toris said.
"Indeed." Natalya sighed turning back to her book.
"So, what do you want to play?" Alistor asked as he looked at the twins. Francis was making dinner while Arthur was working on a needlepoint and watching his brother interact with the twins.
"I don't know…." Dimitri said.
"Well let's see what all we have here at your grandpappys' place." Alistor said as he got up with a slight groan. "Aye I be getting too old to be getting up" he said.
"And you still play golf with a back like that?" Arthur smirked.
"Oh, bugger off." Alistor said back. "I am just fine with that, thank you very much."
"Yeah, Grunkle Al showed me how to drive with a golf club and he hit it waaaaaaaaay further than I could! He's great at it." Nikita said coming to her Grunkle's defense.
"I won't deny that. I have seen his skill before." Arthur smiled. "Sounds like he still has it even though he's older than me."
"Do you guys have Candy Land? Nikita asked.
"Oh, ho ho ho…." Francis smiled. "Sounds like you have passed the test." He teased.
"What test?" Alistor asked. He vaguely remembered something about Candy Land and how the twins loved playing it but not quite what Francis was meaning.
"It's a joke that Alfred and Ivan have." Arthur explained. "You see Candy Land is the twins' favorite board game." Arthur explained putting his needlework down and following Alistor. "Here, let me show you the game closet. Mind you some games we have aren't exactly for children." Alistor started laughing and Arthur looked confused. "Not games of that nature you pervert!" He exclaimed face growing red. "We have both board games for kids and for adults like Trivia Pursuit and the like. I doubt the twins would like that."
"Aye." Alistor said.
"And if you must know, those kind of games we keep in the bedroom where they belong." Arthur scowled under his breath.
"What'd you say Grandpa?" Nikita asked.
"Nothing dearie, nothing at all." Arthur said as he looked at the games they had in the closet. "Hmmmm My First Safari, Connect 4, Life for Kids, Chutes and Ladders, that travel Monopoly Jr we had gotten from a rummage sale back when we went to Disneyland on a road trip over 25 years ago…. I am surprised we haven't lost a piece… oh dear…." Arthur sighed. "I thought we had that one."
"I think we brought Candy Land." Dimitri said as he headed over to the stack of games that they had brought from their house.
"I don't see it…." Nikita added as she joined her brother, tears starting to well up in her eyes.
"Now now there…." Arthur said. "It's no big deal…." He said trying to calm down the twins while running through things he could do in the meantime. I could call Alfred and ask to bring it over. Then again God knows what he and his husband are doing. He thought as he looked at his watch. It was only 6pm and the local Walmart did not close until late. It wouldn't be a hassle for him to run out quickly and get a copy of the game himself to keep for the house and it would calm the twins down. Running to the kitchen, he saw Francis cooking.
"Lapin, do you need something?" He asked.
"Can you wait a little longer to finish dinner?" Arthur said. "I need to run to the store and get Candy Land."
"You mean we DO NOT have it? You know how much the twins love it." Francis said with shock and embarrassment.
"Yes." Arthur said. "Need anything?"
"Actually yes." Francis said as he handed Arthur the list from the fridge. "We had run out of some things in the past few days."
"Okay I will get it." Arthur said as he grabbed the keys and headed to door. "Alistor, keep the children entertained. I will be back soon."
"Aye." He said nodding to his brother. "Why not play this old thing?" He said pulling the small travel game from the closet. "It's something your daddy and uncle played when they were little."
"It sure is small" Nikita said.
"Aye but good things can come in small packages. And your grandpa says that your daddy liked this game as a kid." Alistor said.
"Okay." Nikita said while Dimitri smiled himself.

So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. I would have updated a little sooner but well, work, school and other stories came up. It can be quite something. Hopefully with the end of the season here, my time can be better spent working on stories and studies. The Monopoly Jr travel version is the one from 1991 that I had as a kid that I got from a yard sale. Yes, I looked it up just to mention in the story. I did it with the Littlest Pet Shop game earlier too. And while I had never been to Disneyland, it was a game I liked a lot as a kid and probably spawned my love of Monopoly. Yes, I know I am weird on that, but I find it fun. Anyway, remember to read, well you just did and review. Ciao for now,
