When I'm Gone

I do not own Star Fox or any of its characters.
We thought this day would never come.
At least, not like this.
Looking around, they are people everywhere.
Most of them crying.
Other simply here to pay their respects.
Because, laying still in front of us was a coffin.
Inside the coffin, lay Fox McCloud.
Hero, husband, father.
Krystal stands close by, tears streaming down her face.
When I'm gone, just carry on.
You don't have to rejoice, everytime you hear the sound of my voice.
Just know that, I'm looking down on you smiling.
I didn't feel a thing, so baby don't feel the pain.
Just smile back.
By her side stands Marcus McCloud.
Hers and Fox's son.
He does not cry like his mother.
But you can see pain in his eyes.
Behind them stands Falco, Peppy and Slippy.
Former members of the Star Fox Team, now disbanded.
Falco silently stands, a tear here and there.
Slippy is bawling his eyes out.
No emotion can be read on the old man's face.
He has seen enough death in his time.
When I'm gone, just carry on.
You don't have to rejoice, everytime you hear the sound of my voice.
Just know that, I'm looking down on you smiling.
I didn't feel a thing, so baby don't feel the pain.
Just smile back.
60,000 people attend to funeral.
Among them, surprisingly,
Wolf O'Donnell, Fox's legendary rival.
Expectedly, no tears are seen.
But there is something.
"Farewell, my honorable adversary."
Many are shocked to hear these words.
No one expected Wolf of all people,
To care about the loss of Fox.
But times change,
And people change with the times.
Wolf moves aside to reveal a platinum statue,
The likeness of Fox.
A plaque below it reads:
"Lylat's greatest hero. Your deeds will never be forgotten, nor shall we forget the sacrifices you made in defense of our lives."
The coffin is buried.
The statue placed atop to mark the grave.
When I'm gone, just carry on.
You don't have to rejoice, everytime you hear the sound of my voice.
Just know that, I'm looking down on you smiling.
I didn't feel a thing, so baby don't feel the pain.
Just smile back.
Krystal looks towards the statue one more time.
The tears stop falling.
She smiles.
And walks away.
