Chapter 26.

Dominick was outside the building where Noah hid while Olivia got attacked. He scrolled through his phone and Elliot approached him. Elliot greeted Dominick and asked him if he knew anything about the attack on Olivia.

Sonny sighed and walked away from the building, scanning his surroundings.

"They beat her up in the road."

"Where?" Elliot asked.

"Here… They cleaned up pretty quick. I thought here was a good place to start."

"Well, it looks like you've still got that detective instinct," Elliot whispered in a casual tone.

Olivia rolled over in bed and sighed when she realized she had to use the bathroom. One of the handful of things she hated about being pregnant was the amount of times she woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.

Olivia climbed out of bed slowly before looking at Noah. He was bundled up on the other side of her bed, his eyes closed tightly as he slept deeply. Olivia's hand slowly slipped to her belly and took a shaky breath. She couldn't be more thankful that both of her babies came out of this unharmed.

"I told you to go home." Olivia whispered, as she came out of her bedroom. Fin had heard Olivia moving around in her room, so he was sitting up on the sofa with a blanket wrapped around him.

"And I thought you were supposed to be sleeping," Fin said with a tired smirk.

"I had to use the bathroom… Fin, I'm fine. So please, go home. If Carisi can leave me alone, you can too." Olivia spoke.

"He didn't go home." Fin yawned, as he tugged the blanket tighter around his body.

"What? Where did he go then?" Olivia asked nervously. She walked towards Fin instead of going to the bathroom as planned.

"He is out searching for the bastards that hurt you." Fin replied. Olivia took a shaky breath and placed a hand to her chest.

"Why?"

"I think because he cares about you? He still won't admit that he's in love with you, but I guess he's just secretive about that." Fin teased with a smirk.

Olivia blushed, as she sat on the arm rest.

"You can go home, Fin." Olivia spoke, instead of responding to what Fin had said about Sonny.

"Nah, I told Phoebe that I'd be home in the morning. You need me."

"I'm a grown woman. I have a gun, so I can protect myself and my son."

"Before you joined SVU, you barely had anyone who was willing to take care of you. Just accept it instead of fighting it, okay?" Fin replied.

"If you won't leave, then I will. I'll go and help Carisi find him," Olivia spoke, as she stood and moved to the front door.

"Not so fast, Benson! Sonny has backup. So go pee, then head back to bed."

"Serg-"

"Captain Benson, you were attacked tonight. As the official commanding officer until you are feeling better, I get to order you around. So, go to bed."

"Yes, sir," Olivia said with a tired smile.

Sonny and Elliot walked the streets near the crime scene. As they made their way around the darkened streets long after midnight, they heard the laughter of a group of men. At a distance, Elliot was sure he counted six. But then once they got closer to them he saw eight boys instead of men. They couldn't be over sixteen, so clearly attacking Olivia must have been to prove something.

"There they are," Elliot whispered, as he reached out and stopped Dominick from moving closer.

"Why are we stopping?" Carisi demanded. Elliot sighed softly and leaned down. He removed a gun from where he had it hid in his boot, before passing it to Carisi.

"Remember how to use one?" Elliot asked, his eyes still locked on the assholes that hurt Olivia.

"I'm not stupid." Sonny said annoyed. "I didn't accuse you of that," Elliot replied nonchalantly. "Let's just scare them so Olivia doesn't have to take your child to see you in jail." he added with a sigh.

"She's one of those cops who don't let us have fun with whoever we want." another chuckled. Stabler and Carisi got closer, their guns held at their sides.

"So all eight of you think it's funny to to beat up a woman on a dark street with her child right there? That's funny to you?" Elliot asked, as he finally made his presence known.

The group turned to face them, their faces covered in shock.

"What are you going to do about it?" The leader questioned, as he puffed out his chest and stepped towards Elliot.

"I think I'm going to arrest you all. How does that sound? I'm Detective Stabler and you are under arrest for attacking Captain Olivia Benson," Elliot grinned as he held his gun up and pointed it at him.

Sonny walked into Olivia's apartment after helping Elliot with the gang. Officers had been called and all of them had been arrested for assaulting Olivia.

"What did you do?" Olivia questioned the moment her door opened. Fin had gotten a text from Carisi informing him he was coming back. Olivia was angry and concerned when she found out.

What if he had been hurt?

"Liv-"

"No, tell me!" Olivia demanded. Fin sat silently on the sofa, not moving at all as he listened.

"Elliot and I found them, Liv. We arrested all of those bastards that were there."

"Sonny, I didn't ask you to do that!" Olivia was crying.

"You didn't have to-"

"What if you got hurt?" Olivia yelled.

"But-"

"I don't want you here. Get out."

"Liv?" Sonny asked, looking confused.

"No Sonny, you had me worried sick and did something I didn't want to be done. I don't want to be near you. Get out!"
