It's A Secret
Harry felt floaty.
He'd drank far more than he usually did on a night out. It was Ron's stag-do though, and he'd promised that, rather than being the 'dad' friend, he'd let loose and have fun.
It helped that Arthur and Hermione's Dad, Ian, had been enlisted to make sure everyone stayed safe and got home on time.
"I don't think I've ever seen you so much as stumble," Kingsley said, laughing as he caught Harry just before he tripped over thin air. They were walking to the next bar, and the fresh air had done Harry no favours.
"You're my favourite," Harry said, beaming up at Kingsley.
"And I know it's true because you're drunk and drunk people tell the truth," Kingsley pointed out fondly. He made sure Harry was steady, and then ruffled his hair. "Come on. I know you're fine, but you're having water at the next bar before you get another alcoholic drink. You'll never forgive me if I let you get too drunk."
Harry let himself be led to the next bar, and he drank a pint of water that was placed in front of him. It did help him clear his head a bit, but the following drinks did not.
…
"I love you, you know," Harry slurred, blinking up heavily at Kingsley, as the older man helped him from his jacket, and then pushed him gently onto the bed so he could take off his shoes.
"I love you too, you lush," Kingsley replied affectionately.
"No, no, you don't get it," Harry said, shaking his head. "I love you so much. I want you to be my husband, like Hermione is going to be Ron's wife. You don't love me like that and it's sad, but not too sad, because we're still friends and that's happy."
Helping Harry lie down, Kingsley bent down to press a kiss to Harry's temple. "How about we talk about this when we're both sober, hmm?"
"No. No, no, nononono. I'm going to be so mad in the morning. I wasn't supposed to tell you. It's a secret!"
Laughing, Kingsley tucked Harry in. "Well, if you still remember it in the morning, you should also remember that I love you too, and I'd love nothing more than for you to be my husband. Okay?"
"Okay. Okay. I really hope I remember this in the morning now. Love you, Kings."
"Sleep, you little menace."
