A/N: A continuation of the end of the episode (7x04) where Leo took the boys and Piper finds them on her bed. A son either side of Leo, Chris wriggling, Leo asleep, and Wyatt sitting quietly.
Piper softly closes the bedroom door and turns to face the bed, drinking in the sight of Leo snoozing between his two sons. No matter how complicated things are, and how complex things have been recently, there's been a part of her that has been longing for a moment like this. Leo is changed by the events of the past year, she knows this, and perhaps she suspects they both are. Still, she knows, despite all the difficulties he loves his family fiercely and she knows he would go to the ends of the earth and back again to protect his children…and her too.
She catches Wyatt's eye as she crosses the room and lovingly smiles at him before switching her attention to baby Chris who has been kicking as he gurgles. She carefully picks him up and he stills in her arms. She holds him close, kisses his forehead and then moves him into the bassinet. His eyes flutter drowsily as she strokes his face with her finger, and then his chest and tummy.
She turns back to the bed where Wyatt is now stood up watching her and as she moved closer he raises his arms to be picked up.
"Hi baby," she says taking him into her arms.
"Momma" he says as he nuzzles into her. "Dadda sleep."
"Yeah, Daddy's sleeping." she whispers to him as she takes him to the sofa. Piper sits against the arm of the sofa and brings her knees up, resting Wyatt back against them. "Did you have a nice time with Daddy, huh?" He looks up at her with big soulful eyes and nods. He puts his little hands over one of hers and holds on tight.
"You are so loved." She tells him, taking her free hand and stroking his hair. "You know that huh? Loved by so many people. Your auntie Paige, and your auntie Phoebe," she smiles widely at him and playfully shakes her head thinking of the ways Phoebe has demonstrated just how obsessed she is with her nephews. "Your baby brother Chris," she scoops him further towards her chest to snuggle the small toddler close, and closes her eyes as he buries himself closer. The recent events that have played out are all kinds of complex and confusing, even for an adult witch. How on Earth do you even begin to explain that some future version, on some sort of timeline you hope you're no longer on, of the small baby sleeping in the crib across the room did all he could to protect the small toddler in front of you? "Neither of you know it, I know. He loves you lots though, I promise he does."
A rustle comes from their side as Leo moves in his sleep, and both mother and son turn to watch him uncertain if he's waking or not. He stills again and Wyatt looks back up at Piper, running his fingers across her top. She sighs, and then smiles brightly at her son. "And your Daddy…Dadda loves you more than he can say. He'll always keep you safe you know. It's hard right now, he's going through a lot, but he will always, always love you. That I do know."
"Ma?"
"And me," she nods at him, squeezing him extra tight. "And you know I love you." She kisses his forehead and he gives her a sweet toddler kiss returning the affection. "I love you so, so much. And our little family, I love all of you." Piper then gets to her feet, Wyatt on her hip as she moved back towards the bed.
"Piper…? Wyatt, Chris?" Leo sleepily mumbles as he jolts awake.
"Shh, Leo. We're right here, go back to sleep." She says softly. Sometimes it feels like she can barely wrap her head around everything that's happened, and while there are so many things she wants to say, she knows that what Leo needs is rest and moments of inner calm and peace. If she is to help him find his way back, then she knows she'll do all that's in her power to make sure he gets that.
Leo turns to her, sleepily gazes at her holding their eldest son, and this beautiful sight he's missed brings a small smile to his face. He nods, stretches a hand out towards them and closes his eyes again.
Piper sits herself on the bed, one leg tucked under her, another hanging off the edge and releases Wyatt again. Wyatt moves towards his father and leans against him and places one of his tiny hands on his father's chest. Leo's outstretched arm wraps around his son, pulls him closer, then releases a little, his palm settling on the small boy's back.
Piper watches the sweet interaction, biting her lip, and blinking back the well of emotions swelling inside her. There'd be time for that later. For now, she swallows all the words and emotions, and gives in the desire to just be with her family. She lies down next to the father and son, both now sleeping. She gently strokes a finger along Leo's brow line, much like she does with her sons, and his face softens slightly. She then places her hand over Leo's hand on Wyatt's back, and then allows her eyes to drift shut.
