Kai POV: Maybe I should have taken a shower, because I'm definitely getting worse. My headache was pounding hard, and woke me up in the worst way.
I moaned and wanted to hide under the covers, but that might make Nya feel bad if she learns that I was sick and out in the rain. But sleeping in a little might help me feel better.
I tried to get comfortable, but someone opened the door and soon started to shake me awake. "Hey, Kai? Are you awake?" It was Lloyd.
I groaned internally and said, "Yeah, I am."
He backed off and let sit before saying, "Sorry for waking you up, but I kinda need your help."
"With what?" I was confused.
"It's Cole, he's acting withdrawn and sad, and I can't figure out why. The others are testing out something for Borg and I'm about to meet my mom." he said, looking and sounding conflicted.
"Is something going on at the museum?" I asked, stretching a little.
"Kinda. She needs an extra hand. But I was hoping to get your help." That did sound troubling. Cole would never just close off Lloyd like this, and considering I would be the only one left I guess I have no choice.
"Alright, I'll check on him." I said, throwing off the blankets.
"Thanks, I'm gonna go now. Last time I saw him he was in the kitchen. Thanks again." he said, clearly relieved and left.
He left the room, but as I stood up I almost fell over by how sore my body felt. I groaned and steadied myself against the bedpost. I'm definitely getting worse, but it should be fine.
I took a few moments and left the room, heading straight for the kitchen. I took a peak just to see if Lloyd was right, and he was right to be worried.
He was at the table, lying his head in his arms and messing with his mug. Something was clearly bothering him and it was bringing him down heavily.
I walked in and took a seat next to him, and he didn't acknowledge me. "Hey." was all I said.
"Hey." he answered, and he sounded really depressed.
"What's up, man." I asked, now concerned.
"Nothing…" he mumbled, still not facing me. He usually faces people when talking…
"You can talk to me, you know. I'm all ears." When I said that he finally looked up. He looked worn out and was crying earlier.
"...it's just a bad day." he said, not really meeting my eyes.
"A bad day that leaves you crying? You're always there for us, and we are ready to do the same for you." I reassured, but he didn't really move.
He put his head back down and whispered, "It's my mom's…"
Oh, now I get it. And it was also Cole's day to patrol, so he won't be able to go see his dad. He would definitely want to see him today, and he needs it. Even if he did go on the patrol he would be distracted and he might get hurt if he gets into a fight. That's the last thing anyone would want. I guess I have no choice, given the others are too busy.
"I see, then you need to go visit your dad as soon as you can. I'll patrol for you tonight." I said, and he sat up when he heard that.
"You sure?" he asked, but he looked relieved.
"Yeah, just take as much time as you can." I said, but I wasn't looking forward to patrolling again but Cole needed this.
"Thanks, Kai." He gave a small smile and left the kitchen.
Once he was far enough I groaned loudly. I felt awful and really wanted to sleep, but a promise is a promise. I got up and went to get my spare uniform.
However, I found it missing with a note from Zane. It said that they had borrowed it for tests today, and I remembered that I didn't put my other uniform in the dryer. Perfect, that's just what I need.
But it looks like Nya had cleaned my rainproof one, which is better than nothing. I was still really sore and it took some time to get it on. Once I was ready I made sure my soaked uniform was getting cleaned and left.
Hopefully nothing too crazy will happen.

I really need to shut my mouth. Because there was a thunderstorm that hit not long after I left, and it was really bad. I sighed as I ran across that rooftops and moaned as I got soaked again. But I thought about what Cole was doing, knowing that he was probably relaxing with his dad.
I stopped and sighed heavily. He shouldn't have to go through something like this. He's the last person who should suffer, but unfortunately it can't be helped.
I got back to it. And that only thing that played in my favor was the fact that because it was so bad out that everyone just stayed home. I managed to get done early and got back, easily feeling even worse than this morning.
Cole wasn't home yet, as well as the others, but Lloyd was back. He was reading a comic on the couch. When he saw me he immediately stood up and followed me.
"You went out on patrol?" he asked, really confused.
"Yeah, Cole needed the day off." I answered, and went to my room.
Lloyd stayed outside, but he still asked, "So you found out what was wrong?"
"It was about his mother." was all I said.
"Oh… I forgot about that. That makes sense though…" He sounded guilty.
"Don't feel bad, I didn't realize at first either." I reassured, suppressing a groan of relief once I finished.
"Yeah,... right. Well, do you want to watch a movie?" There's no way I could survive a movie.
"Sorry, but I'm really tired. Raincheck?" I said, already crawling into bed.
"Okay, well good night." he said, fortunately not sounding disappointed.
"Night." I said, already passing out.
I just hope that I feel better in the morning.
