Chapter 28: Ambush
A few nights later. The divisions assemble. They head out at the dead of night. They travel an incredibly long distance to the Reichs camp. As they are about to destroy the camp and eliminate the enemy forces. The surrounding area transforms into Riomai's dimension.
Damian stands a distance away.
"Hello. Allied shinobi forces. I knew you incompetent fools would ambush me and my forces at some point. I would like to point out. That regeneration in this dimension is impossible. One thing you forget to tell those you are about to demonize. Is that if their regeneration were to fail after for example being slashed with a sword. They would die like any normal human. It is near impossible to stop a demon's regeneration. The only known way for this to work. It was created by someone I'm sure you're familiar with, King Chance. Shinobu Kocho, with her wisteria poison that I copied. Is now a gas that constantly fills the air. It is only in small amounts because Wisteria is incredibly rare. So, you lose your invincibility." Damian explained.
"It doesn't matter. It's tens of thousands against one." Chance replied.
Reichsman and woman rise from the ground and number to about the allied shinobi forces strength.
"You're in my world. But I will make a deal with you. I can tell that there are a few undesirable races within your army. Hand them over and I will spare the rest of you." Damian said.
"Are you serious? You're better off following in Audis footsteps and putting a bullet in your head." Chance replied.
"Y'know. It's still not too late to change. You can come to the Reich. We both hate the same thing. The same people. Yes, your father died at the Reichs hands, and I haven't been kind to you about it. But we apologize. His blood should never have been shed. Your philosophy is perfect. These shinobi, they will betray you when they see fit. They will not agree with you. They will escape your control. You're merely fighting to delay the inevitable. Join us, and truly make the world a better place." Damian responded by trying to manipulate Chance.
"Damian. I refuse to associate myself with fascists like you. I loathe you and people like you with my entire being and I will devote the rest of my life to exterminating all of you if I must. You don't feel the slightest bit of regret for his death. You are quite glad actually. If he were still alive. Then you would be seeing the gates of hell." Chance replied.
"I understand how it feels to lose a loved one. But that is no excuse to continue serving rotten shinobi. Who you have to control personally in order for them to cooperate. They don't support your cause. They don't like you. They will ultimately stop your goals. Why do you care so much for them?" Damian asked.
"Yes, the masses don't care for me. But there are few who do like me. I fight for them. I fight for their dreams. I'm used to being hated by many people. It sucked. But it woke me up to reality. That I must stop us from ourselves." Chance answered.
"That's stupid. Oh well. ATTACK!" Damian shouted.
The two armies clash in a crowded manner. Few are slain. They reorganize and divide into many groups that scatter around the battlefield. Chance and Naruto fighting back-to-back. As they both are fighting off Reichsman. Sakura and Mew are killed. Once they both see their lifeless corpses. They lose it. Naruto with more control over his tailed beast due to Naruto possessing more control over Kurama due to the new seal that was placed on Naruto's stomach when Chance gave Kurama back allowing Naruto to control Kurama's power at will. But it does cause him to be more animal-like and aggressive. Chance taps into Lucario's power increasing his physical prowess and chakra reserves.
Naruto's chakra intensifies and he uses shockwaves to separate the armies. Naruto then uses his adamantine chains to surround the Reichsman and woman. Naruto places a powerful barrier over the chains. This barrier can only be removed by Kushina because she is better than Naruto at barrier ninjutsu. But due to being revived she is under the control of Kaluna who refuses to allow her to remove the barrier with a sinister smile that refuses to fade despite others like Jiraiya pleading Kaluna to remove the barrier.
"DIE!" Naruto howls.
"Hey Naruto. Let's have a competition. Lets see who can kill the most Reichsman. Loser pays for the victory meal." Chance proposed.
Naruto nods his head in agreement. He retains his humanity due to his control over Kurama and this version 2 cloak.
Naruto throws his fathers three pronged kunai over the enemy.
"Shuriken shadow clone jutsu!" Naruto shouts.
This one kunai multiplied into thousands. These kunai rain upon the shinobi. Killing several. Naruto has access to essentially anywhere in the vicinity. Naruto uses this to slain shinobi before they even realize that Naruto had teleported. Chance uses his elongated and sharpened fingernails to cut the Reichsman into ribbons. Chance also teleports constantly to quickly massacre as many Reichsman as possible with his sword. Chance also uses Mais lighting jutsu and a new jutsu where Chance makes a large current of water loaded with senbon made out of lightning chakra. These senbon are not meant to kill. But to weaken the defensive capabilities of the Reichsman. This justu was Lucky Aura-Sun's signature jutsu.
Naruto rips the organs out of the Reichsman and drinks their blood despite not being a demon. Naruto then uses a new jutsu, the RasenShuriken; this jutsu obliterates a Reichsman.
Soon the vast majority of Reichsman are Dead. Damian teleported out of the dimension. A small group of them are still alive. Their number is two hundred.
"Hey Naruto. I spared a few pathetic insects. What do you suggest we do with them?" Chance asked.
"Make. Them. Suffer." Naruto answered.
"I got the perfect idea. It's time for a crucifixion." Chance replied.
"A cruci-what?" Naruto asked.
"I will switch over to Lucifer. Then he will manipulate the earth into crosses. Then I will tie them to the cross with my Aura chains. They will die from exhaustion and Asphyxiation. In layman's terms it means they will die slowly but extremely painfully" Chance explained.
"I like it." Naruto replied sadistically.
Lucifer briefly takes control. He manipulates the earth to create 200 crosses, a task which was easy. Chance and Naruto place them on the crosses. Those in the portal are too afraid to say anything. The combined killing intent of Naruto and Chance is terrifying to all in some fashion.
"Naruto. We did it. We wiped them all out. I'd say that's a Kage level achievement. Now you may take down that barrier. Because I have a surprise for you." Chance said.
Naruto removes the barrier. Sesshomaru walks to Sakura and Mews corpses. He takes his sword the Tessaiga. He stabs both Sakura and Mew. They are revived.
"Huh? How am I alive? I could have sworn I was killed." Mew asked.
"I was wondering the same thing." Sakura replied.
"I brought you two back to live with Tessaiga. A sword which possesses the ability to revive anyone I choose, as long as they have been dead for under twenty four hours." Sesshomaru explained.
"Does it come at a cost?" Mew asked.
"No." Sesshomaru answered bluntly.
"Alright. I hate looking at this place. Let's get out of this hell hole and relax." Chance said.
The crowd agrees and Riomai teleports everyone back to the regular world.
The next day
Mei locates and visits Sesshomaru. Mei knocks on the door to his hotel room. Sesshomaru opens the door with his left hand with a bottle of vodka in his right hand. Sesshomaru, despite being way too young to indulge in alcohol, has drunk a fair amount. He has developed blotches on his face from his alcohol consumption. Bloodshot eyes from a different source.
"Hello. What are you doing here?" Sesshomaru asked.
"I came here to ask you what your addiction was. But it seems like I have my answer." Mei replied.
"Do not think I am completely irresponsible for my health and well being. Due to the extreme pain the Tessaiga has on my body. I use alcohol primarily vodka and drugs Maryjuana to relieve the pain." Sesshomaru explained.
"I thought demons like you wouldn't feel extreme pain or only briefly experience it because of your incredible regenerative abilities?" Mei asked.
"Tessaiga is a mystical sword that can revive anybody within 24 hours. It was only ever used by my part of the Aura-Sun clan. For we were always demons meaning we could withstand the pain and regenerate." Sesshomaru explained.
"I understand. So, you demons can still feel pain?" Mei asked.
"Yes. But some of us enjoy the pain. Like Enmu, the one you would have killed had I not interfered." Sesshomaru answered.
"I see. Do you want to talk?" Mei asked.
"Sure. I guess." Sesshomaru answered.
Mei walks in. She smells the revolting smell of cannabis in the air.
"So cannabis is something you're also addicted to." Mei said.
"Yes,unfortunately. It's the best painkiller I can find." Sesshomaru replied.
"Hey. Shouldn't you constantly regenerate and be healed of any effects these substances have on your body?" Mei asked.
"Yes. But I constantly use these substances to keep the effects active. I have burned through so much of what I have brought to Kirigakure. I hope I can be resupplied soon." Sesshomaru hoped.
"That's not exactly a good thing to hope for." Mei replied.
"While I am a drug addict. It can't kill me. It can't cause any dangerous effects on my body due to my regeneration. It rarely matters what I do with these substances." Sesshomaru responded.
"What about Rin? Shouldn't you focus on recovery so you can continue being a good father?" Mei questioned.
"Fair point. Speaking of Rin. How is she behaving?" Sesshomaru asked.
"She is fine although she misses you terribly. Rin is also an incredible learner. Quickly picking up techniques like the water clone technique and hiding in mist technique and even knowing how to utilize water release prior to the training." Mei answered.
"Makes sense. I trained her personally." Sesshomaru replied.
"I know what it's like to deal with addiction. It's not good no matter the circumstances. You have a family. You have people who care deeply about you. I'm sure they do not approve of this behavior. Mei responded sincerely.
"That's simply not true. A few others use drugs to neutralize things like pain and anxiety. But I use these drugs by choice. I use my Tessaiga to bring those who have died in this war back to life. I will keep reviving people until I finally die. That event will never occur." Sesshomaru said.
"I respect your determination to help people. But think of your own being as well." Mei replied.
"It's called a sacrifice. I will sacrifice my personal health for the good of the people. And I hope you do the same." Sesshomaru responded.
"I understand. But why?" Mei questioned.
"I once encountered a demon slayer when I was a small child. He used wisteria poison. This poison is extremely rare and only the best have access to it. After I killed the demon slayer, I soon passed out from his poison that entered my body through a wound he inflicted on me. When I woke up. Surprised I was still alive. A woman who had a young newborn son looked at me with a huge smile. She revealed herself as Onna and she healed me. Her son's name is Yukimaru. She took care of me. Afterwards I visited her regularly. One day, I went to her home to find her murdered by the 2nd child she had saved that day. Guren! That little wrench murdered her. I don't know why, but if I ever see her again. I will kill her in cold blood. I took Yukimaru back to my mother and father who took care of the boy until I was old enough to do it myself. Yukimaru is ill currently and is forced to stay in Rota. I became determined to help others. Which was a foreign concept for me at the time." Sesshomaru explained.
"I'm sorry for your loss." Mei replied.
"No need to apologize." Sesshomaru responded, still stone-faced.
"Hey, how old are you?" Mei asked.
"I'm thirteen." Sesshomaru answered.
"Oh." Mei replied disappointed.
"Why are you disappointed?" Sesshomaru asked.
Mei sighs and replies.
"I have been looking for someone to love. I dislike being alone. I was forced to kill all of my friends just to achieve my dream of becoming a kunoichi and thus Mizukage. Since then, for the most part I've been lonely. Except for Ao and Chojuro, both of whom I never met until I became Mizukage." Mei replied.
"I see. But I know you will find that one man who will light up your life. If it will be me, I don't know." Sesshomaru responded.
"Thanks." Mei replied.
Near Rotas castle
Naruto walks down the road. He is going to visit Chance. Someone Naruto has been talking to. Suddenly, Sasuke (who was freed from the pit of fire Chance placed him in before the ambush.) Sakura, and Kakashi.
"Hey guys, what's up?" Naruto asked calmly.
"Naruto. We need to talk about what happened." Kakashi replied.
"Uh sure, what is it?" Naruto asked again.
"We are worried about you, Naruto. I saw the carnage you created. This isn't like you." Sakura replied.
"Oh come on, It was the nine tails who did it. I had no say in what happened." Naruto responded calmly.
"That's a lie, Naruto. You have full control over the nine tails and you know it. When you had Kurama resealed inside of you. The seal possessed the ability to give you full control over the nine tails. That rampage was all you." Kakashi exposed Naruto's lie.
"Fine! I did it all on my own. Using jutsus I kept a secret. I wanted to prove to Chance that I could create a jutsu more powerful than the Aura Sphere. I also wanted to kill the Reich for killing Sakura. It's a good thing that dude with the long white hair saved your life Sakura." Naruto replied.
"You fool. If you continue to let Kurama control you, he will soon take complete control over you." Sasuke claimed.
"Don't you get it Sasuke?! We are in a war! I had to kill them! I'm sure we are one step closer to winning the war and going back and rebuilding our home!" Naruto yelled.
"Chance eh? Is that who you're going to see?" Kakashi asked.
"Yeah. What about it?" Naruto asked.
"Haven't you been suspicious of his and his family's actions? Taking the one tail from Gaara, taking and giving back the nine tails, we were attacked by revived shinobi who were revived by Kaluna, Chance's cousin. I'm sure this is the beginning of the list of stuff they have been doing." Kakashi answered.
"You're right. They have done some questionable stuff. But Chance has apologized for everything. He is my friend now. He would never do anything to harm me now." Naruto replied.
"You are aware of his history right?" Sasuke asked.
"Yeah. But think of the positives. He gave tons of people home, food, and a lot of other things. His family may have their quirks but may I remind you that Gaara has spent a lot of his time with that one Aura-Sun who used to be in a wheelchair. I'm pretty sure that I have only seen Gaara smile around her. I'm sure they are nice people, we just haven't met them yet." Naruto believed.
"That same Aura-Sun Gaara is hanging out with, is a war criminal herself." Sasuke argued.
"I recently ran into them. They seem to really care for each other. But anyway, I'm sure they are good people. If they truly had a huge plan. They would have kept Kurama. I think you guys are just judging them off what they used to be. They have changed. Now if you would excuse me, I've got a surprise waiting for me." Naruto said.
"I suppose there is no stopping you. Go on ahead." Kakashi replied.
"Just be careful." Sakura added.
"Alright. I will see you guys later." Naruto said and entered the castle.
"Sasuke, Sakura. What Naruto has said gives me an idea. I will contact Asuma, Kurenai, and Guy. We will work together to spy and gather intel on the Aura-Sun family and their agenda. This is an important mission so be careful." Kakashi said.
"Right." Sakura and Sasuke reply.
On the balcony
Chance relaxes in his chair. Naruto sits down. Chance notices Naruto is quite upset.
"Hey Naruto, what's wrong?" Chance asked.
"My friends were not happy when I used Kurama's power to kill all of those Reichsman. They also got mad that I'm hanging out with you because you're a war criminal." Naruto explained.
"Goddamn it. Y'know, I deeply regret all of the killing I've done. But once I become a god. Those moments would never occur because I would erase them. I would never have to deal with pain ever again. No one would have to deal with pain ever again." Chance replied.
"So, is that what all of this has been for?" Naruto asked.
"Yeah because if I fail to execute my plans. Then millions will die." Chance answered.
"What are you talking about?" Naruto asked.
"I want you to not tell anyone about this. Because if anyone else were to find out. Then that will hasten the murder of millions. If I fail to either become a god or take over the world by drawing out this war for as long as possible to cause as much suffering as possible. Then the infinite Tsukoyomi will be enacted. The strongest genjutsu in existence. It will put everyone except those with Aura to sleep and thus enter a dream world. The goal of this is to make Kaluna the ruler of earth letting those in my family choose who to keep awake." Chance explained.
"Then why hasn't she done this yet?" Naruto asked.
"Because my plan is still in action. I must figure out a way to become a god. Or to conquer the world." Chance answered.
"Those don't sound like good ideas." Naruto replied.
"Well, that's the situation I'm in. If I'm willing to go with the god plan. I would need more of Kurama's chakra since what I took from him and stored is being used on a miracle medicine to save my and my mothers life since we both refuse to become demons. If I conquer the world, it would be a hell of a lot easier. Pain will be a constant emotion on the people of this world. They would be desperate to improve their lives. I could take power and have my family and close friends enforce that power. I could make paradise on earth." Chance explained.
"That sounds good. But what if the people don't want to do it?" Naruto asked.
"The people don't know what's best for them. It's their self destructive habits that lead to this moment in history. Under my leadership, I will reform society, and make it a beautiful paradise." Chance answered.
"Umm, ok." Naruto replied nervously.
"But anyway. The surprise should be here at any moment. But in the meantime. Tell me, have you sensed any fear from the villagers?" Chance asked.
"Fear and hatred. But I'm used to it at this point. But as long as I have my friends I will be fine." Naruto answered.
"I'm glad you have made friends. I'm glad I have you as a friend." Chance replied.
"Thank you." Naruto responded by giving a wide smile.
"I brought the two you requested."
Naruto and Chance turn around to see Kaluna with Teuchi and Ayame. Naruto's face lights up as he stands up.
"Old man Teuchi! Ayame!" Naruto shouts as he rushes to hug them.
Kaluna walks to Chance and whispers.
"I'm getting impatient. You better accomplish your goals quickly. Or else."
Take it easy. I got everything under control. You can relax, you have been reviving people for a long time. Take a break." Chance replied.
"Don't hesitate." Kaluna responds and leaves.
Chance looks at the trio hugging. He sees a vision of Kanae, Shinobu, and Kanao hugging him. Chance rubs his eyes.
"Goddammit. Why can I not move on from that moment? that day." Chance thinks to himself.
Naruto turns around and notices that Chance is slightly upset.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Naruto asked.
"Nothing at all." Chance answered.
That night.
Team Kakashi except for Naruto, Team Asuma, Team Kurenai, and Team guy, and Shannon ( who arrived unexpectedly) meet secretly north of Rota.
"Kakashi. Why did you tell us to meet here?" Kurenai asked.
"It's important. My team and I have intense suspicions of the Aura-Sun family. Isn't it strange how the king Chance has been hanging around Naruto the current nine tails jinchuriki. His family stole the one tail from Gaara. Nearly killed the Hokage under the guise of a battle. The Hokages sudden marriage to an Aura-Sun. An Aura-Sun being close to the Kazekage. This is just some of the stuff they have been doing. We must figure out what they are planning and stop them." Kakashi said.
"I do have experience with Kaluna. But I don't have a clue what they are up to." Shannon replied.
"Wait, they have helped us. They have helped thousands of people. We would probably be dead by now had they not taken us in. If they were doing something big, why keep us alive?" Kiba asked.
"I have had my own suspicions with the king. I suspect he has made the Hokage his puppet by making her a demon and forcing her to marry. I wouldn't be surprised if he has made the Mizukage his puppet too. I suspect he has also made the Kazekage his puppet by turning all Suna shinobi into demons placing them under his control." Shikamaru proposed.
"That makes a lot of sense, Shikamaru." Asuma praised.
"Dang. If that's true, Then we are screwed. He controls us. He controls everybody. It's game over." Shannon said.
"Not necessarily."
A man in a black cloak and a mask appears behind Shannon.
"AH! Dont scare me!" Shannon replied.
"My apologies. But do not fear, I have a miracle drug that can free you and those under Chances control." The man responded with a calm soothing voice.
"Who are you? Reveal your face." Shannon replied pointing a kunai at the man.
"I respectfully decline. My name is Kagaya. The leader of the demon slayer crops. I have a drug that will undo demonization." Kagaya introduced himself.
"Wow. That's convenient." Ino replied.
"Hold on. Why should we trust you? You won't even reveal your face." Shikamaru responded with slight hostility.
"I cannot allow the king to know I'm here. I'm on the top of his hit list. If he were to know I was here. He would hunt me down and kill me. I beg of you, trust me." Kagaya replied, handing the drug to Kakashi.
"Alright. We will trust you. But this is not nearly enough to reverse demonization for everybody." Kakashi said.
"I suggest infiltrating the water systems. If you're able to mix the demon conversion drug with the water. Then that will systematically eliminate the demon population." Kagaya proposed.
"That is a good idea." Choji replied.
"But I'm not going to let you do that." A voice rang out.
An orb falls from above. Once it makes contact with the ground. It explodes releasing extremely bright light. It was a flash grenade. It lasts for a few seconds. Kakashi's wrist gets kicked and he drops the drug. Once the flash fades. The thief is nowhere to be found.
"I will be right back." Kagaya said.
Kagaya disappears so quickly it seems like he teleported. He returns with a girl with white hair and wearing a red bodysuit. Kagaya is gripping her long white hair.
"So this is the thief. I assume you're either an Aura-Sun or one of Micheals goons." Kagaya said.
"Micheal? Oh you mean Muzans father. Yeah he was dead for a while. He actually just got revived. Don't worry he still hates your guts. Now will you let a poor girl go? Because if you let me go, I promise that Chance will spare you and kill you later instead of right now." The girl responded with a heavy accent.
"I don't care what that ignorant child thinks!" Kagaya replied with a scowl.
"Jeez, what's your problem with him? Did he piss in your breakfast this morning? It's not like you could have seen him do it, you are a blind man who doesn't have three years to live. You're too weak to do anything. Like everyone else out there, You're just a pathetic ant." The girl insulted Kagaya.
"Your parents must not have taught you manners. Oh wait, I forgot, a good portion of your pathetic family doesn't have parents at the moment. My apologies." Kagaya replied sarcastically.
"I coulda sworn I heard you were supposed to be calm like a sage. But I was wrong, what did you lose to change the once benevolent man into such a jerk?" The girl asked.
"Kanae was killed, Rob was transformed into a demon, Shinobu was heartbroken and mentally broken, Kanao has taken a long hiatus from her job as a demon slayer, the morale of my entire corps has been crumbling. A sharp decline in new members and old ones leaving leaves my corps inexperienced and weak." Kagaya explained.
"I'm sorry for your loss. I'm just kidding, I don't care." The girl replied.
"Drop the drug or I will kill you." Kagaya threatened.
"Why do yall have to be so mean?" The girl replied, tearing up.
Kagaya senses someone and looks up above. The entire Aura-Sun clan except for Lucky stands on the branches above.
"Hey Kaguya. Long time no see. How is the corps? I hope it's still doing well." Chance spoke in a polite tone.
"It's become a shell of its former self because of you. I wish you were never born. You allowed the demon race to continue to exist. You are a monster. And if you dare try to attack me. I will kill this girl." Kaguya threatened to grab a hidden kunai under his cloak.
"Well, I'm sorry to hear that. But hey it's kind of a good thing for me. Now I won't have to worry about you and the corps being a pain in the ass." Chance replied.
"You're still a foul mouthed brat! Why couldn't you just stop with your foolish and hateful beliefs. You could have saved the lives of millions. Yet you chose this horrible path. Think about the woman you backstabbed or more appropriately stomach stabbed. You think she would approve of this?" Kagaya asked.
"Damn, it seems killing Kanae had the unexpected and unfortunate effect of breaking your once sagely appearance. Sorry man. But I want you to know something, I promise to make this all right. For your sake and mine." Chance replied.
"I thought you no longer cared about her?" Zhukov asked.
"Yeah. I tried my best to move on. Yet the pain never goes away. But that's not what I'm focused on. Drop the drug." Chance replied.
The girl drops the drug. Chance teleports and picks the drug up and teleports away. Kagaya still has the girl under his capture. Kaguya senses someone behind so he lets go of the girl and dodges a stab attempt from Milunka. The girl joins the rest of the Aura-Sun clan above.
"Time to finally die, Kagaya. Die silently, and I will spare your wife and kids. I promise." Chance promised.
"I will never trust you. And no one else should ever trust you." Kagaya responded.
"Some people do trust me, and I'm not going to let them down. Now leave Rota or die." Chance threatened.
"You're going to allow me? Fine then, I will leave. But I'm quite surprised you never once cracked a joke during this confrontation. Did your sense of humor die along with your soul?" Kagaya asked.
"Probably. I do admit it is out of character. But I have no time to crack jokes. I've got more important shit to take care of. Like how I'm going to tear your corps apart." Chance replied.
Kagaya sighs and disappears.
"Aura-Sun clan, roll out." Chance said.
"Your references suck. It's a good thing you never became a stand-up comedian. But if you did become a comedian you would have created the cure of insomnia." Zhukov insulted Chance.
"Why must you always be the bully? Anyway, let's get out of here. I'm craving some chocolate. And Lorelei, good job getting the drug." Chance replied.
"Thanks." Lorelei responded.
The Aura-Sun clan leaves.
"Welp, there goes our chances of ever being free from his control." Shannon said.
