Chapter 25 (Finale): End of an Era
The heroes of Earthrrealm and Outworld have united at the Netherrealm. It was decided for each to divide up into groups. The Special Forces led by Cassie Cage, Jacqui, Past Jax and Alex. Kitana Kahn is leading the Outworld army as well as Baraka, Sheeva, Jade, Sindel and Kotal. Kung Lao will lead the monks. Raiden, Sub-Zero and Scorpion are on the lead ship piloted by Kharon. Alex and Cassie hold hands knowing what is about to come. Cassie's fiancé felt quiet.
"Hey. You alright?" Cassie asked.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Getting ready for the fight of our lives." Alex said, feeling nervous.
"Listen. Everything is at stake, countless lives are in danger. Do not hold back on anything. When the fighting starts, stay close to me. Don't you die on me." Cassie said. She gives him a concerned glare, feeling worried.
"I will." Alex said. He knows what he has to do. He must do whatever it takes to save all the realms, even if it means laying down his life to defeat Kronika. Past Jax locks and loads as well as Jacqui. They stand behind Cassie and Alex, happy about their engagement. Takeda sharpens his sword while Kung Jin readies his arrows. On the other ship, Jade worries for her friend.
"He will be just fine, Jade." Kotal said.
"I know. I'm worried about him fighting Kronika." Jade.
"We all must choose our destiny, Jade. It is his choice, and his choice alone. We have our choices." Kotal reassures her. Jade nods in acknowledgement. She still can't help but wanting to be Alex's guardian.
Sindel sees the look in Jade's eyes. She can tell that Jade has always been the protective one, especially around her daughter, Kitana. She'd never thought that she would be protecting more than one person other than her and Kotal. Sindel understands why Jade protects Alex because she sees him like a brother and Sindel already sees him as a good person, and couldn't help but feel pity on the story Kitana told her about Alex.
On Kharon's ship, Sub-Zero and Scorpion talk. "So, you say the Kytinn D'Vorah tried to kill him?" Sub-Zero asked.
"Yes. I realized too late what she intended to do. She planned for his death. I wish I could do more for him." Scorpion regrets.
"We will both do so for Grandmaster Hasashi." Sub-Zero said.
"The words he spoke to me. The new Shirai Ryu are worthy. It is heart, not blood that makes them warriors." Scorpion remembered.
"The Isle of Kronika is beyond the fog." Kharon tells Raiden. The heroes see big battleships twice as big than Kharon's fleet coming their way. They consist of Geras, Frost, Present Jax, and revenants Nightolf, Smoke, Kabal, and Stryker as well as the Cyber Lin Kuie. "My ferries cannot fight a war."
"This fleet is under my protection." Raiden tells him. "If Kharon falls, our fleet cannot sail. Protect him at all costs." He instructs Sub-Zero and Scorpion.
"Ramming speed!" Frost ordered. The ships nearly collided with the main ship and Special Forces ship. Jacqui nearly falls off until Alex and Cass save her.
"Careful. You do not want to fall down there. There is no floor." Cassie tells them.
Over on the main ship, the heroes fight the Cyber Lin Kuie. Scorpion and Sub-Zero work together to fight as many as possible. On the Outworld ship, they are confronted by Revenant Nightwolf and some of the Cyber Lin Kuie. Jade fights Revenant Nightwolf.
"You shouldn't have turned down Kronika's offer, Jade. Your revenant knew what good will come for the New Era." Revenant Nightwolf said.
"Kronika's New Era is not the only way. Whatever she has offered you is a lie. She only cares about bringing back Shinnok and dispose of you revenants. You have no future desired for you unless Raiden persuades you." Jade tries to convince him.
"You know nothing about the Matoka. The Great Spirit is a lie, and so are you." Revenant Nightwolf said before they fight.
Revenant Nightwolf fired three arrows at Jade, but she uses her Shadow Flash and the arrows go through her without a scratch. Jade rolls forward and does a forward kick to the head and a kick to the chest. She delivers a punch to the left shoulder and swings her staff to the right hip, swings around it and kicks him in the forehead. Revenant Nightwolf recovers quick and powers up with his wolf spirit and becomes faster. Jade runs in to swing her staff but he blocks it with his tomahawk and kicks her backwards. He jumps up to slam his axe down but Jade rolls away and swings at his back. Revenant Nightwolf and Jade exchange offense and defense with their respective weapons. Revenant Nightwolf knees her stomach, punches her face and shoulder bashed her and sends her backwards. Revenant Nightwolf attempts to finish her off with a lightning strike from the sky but Jade was faster. She swiftly dashes past him, sends her staff up and hits his crotch, slams an endpoint on his lower spine, and does one last swing at his head, knocking the revenant out.
"This Great Spirit of yours is never wrong. I just know it." Jade said. She looks and sees Kitana and Sindel fighting together. Jade turns to her lover Kotal. Kotal was cutting down more Cyber Lin Kuie, stopping them for now. He nods to her, letting her know he's okay. Jade smiles at his safety and turns to the other ship, seeing Alex fight off the enemy with the Special Forces, with a reassuring sigh on her face.
Raiden is confronted by Present Jax. "I don't want to fight you, but I got to. For Jacqui's sake and mine." They begin fighting.
Present Jax fires heat from his arms, which Raiden easily dodges. Raiden does a palm strike to the chest, a kick to the head and throws Present Jax to the ground. Present Jax recovers and tries to knee and punch Raiden, only for the thunder god to parry it and does a palm strike to the face, a kick to the knee and shocks his feet, sending him in the air. Raiden grabs him, does him up, knees his chest and throws him back down, back first.
"Kronika is deceiving you with her promises. She is the mother of Shinnok, the one who enslaved you while you were a revenant." Raiden tells him.
"Hold on. She's Cetrion's mother." Present Jax tells him.
"Shinnok is Cetrion's brother. In Kronika's New Era, Shinnok will be the darkness to balance Cetrion's light." Raiden corrects him. Present Jax realizes that Raiden was right. "If that happens, the realms will continue to fight the same war as we have years ago." Raiden tells him.
Present Jax gets up and starts to realize his mistake of siding with Kronika. It brings back the horrible memories he had when he was a revenant under Shinnok's control. "What have I done? I am a fool."
"It is not foolish to fight for your family's betterment." Raiden reminds him of his daughter and late wife.
Jax would do anything right for them, especially to honor Vera before she died. "I am going to make this right."
He goes off to fight the Cyber Lin Kuie, beating them down and destroying as many as possible. Raiden remains behind to fight Geras. Raiden charges towards him, but Geras grabs him and punches him back.
"I have died a thousand times to prepare for this battle. My defeat is impossible. Yours is inevitable." Geras tells him as they fight.
Raiden dodges a strong attack from Geras and throws a couple of palm strikes to the chest, draws him in with his lighting surrounding him and shocks him in mid air, allowing Raiden to fly in, grab Geras and throw him down on the floor hard. Geras summons sand pillars to attack Raiden, but the thunder god dodges and goes backwards. Geras jumps to attack, but Raiden pulls him in with lightning and strikes lightning at his chest, cracking it greatly. Geras recovers and traps Raiden's feet, summons a sand pillar to hit his back, sending Raiden into the air and Geras uses a sand hammer to send Raiden towards the unkillable man, allowing Geras to deliver a hard punch to Raiden's chest, partially damaging it. He throws the thunder god, toward a wall made of hard sand, cracking his back a little. Raiden flies towards him, but he creates a statue of himself and Raiden attacks that instead, allowing Geras to grab him by the leg, throws him on the ground, pick him back up, and throws him into the same hard sand wall. Raiden closes his fists tighter as lighting sparkles out. They are evenly matched, but Raiden realizes that he has to end this quickly. Geras charges and throws a sand spear, but Raiden jumps over it and dodges Geras' attack, steps aside him, and shocks him from both sides of his body and kicks his chest while breaking it to a line carrying chains.
"I will suffer you no more." Raiden said. He fires at the chain above Geras' head and it drops on him. Geras tries to break free, but is still recovering from the fight. Raiden fires at the anchor as it starts falling into the bloody sea.
"Drowning cannot kill me, Raiden." Geras is confident he will break free.
"That is unfortunate for you. The Sea of Blood is bottomless. You will fall forever." Raiden corrects him. He watches as Geras is dragged into the sea, where he will spend eternity in there, with no way to escape.
On the Special Forces ship, they fight more Cyber Lin Kuei, as well as Revenants Smoke and Stryker. Takeda and Kung Jin work together to fight Revenant Stryker while Past Jax and Jacqui fight Smoke. The Johnnies and Past Sonya fight off the Cyber Lin Kuei. Despite the former police man's experience in fighting, he found himself to be no match for the pair. Takeda backhands him and wraps one of bis whips around Stryker's body. He is thrown to Jin, who proceeds to swing his bow staff on his head, his left shin and breaking his right ribs before uppercutting him with his staff, knocking him out cold.
Cassie and Alex smile and nod to each other. That was until they felt the wind go past their feet. Revenant Kabal attempts the same thing again as he did to Alex before, but this time he shoots Kabal in the foot with a beam, tripping him.
"Ah! Smartass!" Revenant Kabal said. "I've been waiting to fight you two again."
"Don't flatter yourself, Speedy McUgly. I'm only just getting started." Cassie tells him.
"That's just hurtful, Cage. I'd leave if I were you, otherwise, I'd fucked up your friend there." Revenant Kabal threatens to kill Alex.
"And looked how that turned out last time. You got your ass handed to you by Jax. You tried to choke me, I'd be glad to return the favor." Alex glows orange.
"You wound him, and I'll kill you myself." Cassie said in anger, activates her powers as they fight 2 on 1. Revenant Kabal throws a spinning saw at Cassie and Alex and they duck. Kabal grabs her ankle with his hook sword and tosses her to a pole. Alex kicks him in the chest and elbows him in the back of the head. He grabs Revenant Kabal and throws him but he recovers and speeds through Alex, making him spin and stumble in dizziness. He double kicks Alex in the chest and grabs his throat and throws him down. Alex fires a energy beam at his mask, partially cracking it. He pulls Revenant Kabal in with the wind he absorbed and kicks his back, making him stumble towards Cassie. She shoots his ankle, backflip kicks him in the chin, sending him upwards. She shadow kicks his back, injuring him. Revenant Kabal gets up and tries to speed through them, but Alex pulls him in again with the wind, kicks his stomach, and Cassie punches him in the neck, punches his face and back hands him in the back of his head, sending him down unconscious. "Serves you right, asshole." Cassie said. Alex walks over to her.
"You okay? Hope you're not too hurt." Alex checks on her for injuries.
"I'm fine. That was badass teamwork. No one can stop us, especially you, my half god love." Cassie said.
"Coming from the badass who beat an Elder God, one of the many things I love about you." Alex compliments her, leading Cassie to kiss him on the cheek.
"Thanks. Alex. I love you." Cassie said.
"I love you too." Alex tells her. He smiles and looks and sees that they are getting closer to shore where the Keep is.
Past Jax and Jacqui meanwhile fight Revenant Smoke. "It because of my alliance with Raiden that I am like this. I would've saved Kuai Liang from becoming a cyborg, but Raiden stopped me. He only cared about himself."
"You would've been caught too. Raiden did everything he could do to save you all. There is still that chance. Let us help you." Past Jax pleaded.
"Not until Raiden is dead. And Sub-Zero will persuaded to join Kronika." Revenant Smoke said. He appears behind Jax and punches him in the back. Jacqui does two kicks in the chest and in the chin, stumbling him. Past Jax fires heat from his hands, sending him flying. Jacqui jumps on him and shocks him, knocking him down. Revenant Smoke appears behind Jacqui and grabs her, intending on taking her hostage. Jacqui shocks his wrist, forcing him to let her go. She jumps on Revenant Smoke's shoulders and kicks him to Past Jax, who swings his arm at his face, defeating him.
Back on the main ship, Present Jax and Scorpion deal with the Cyber Lin Kuei. Frost jumps down on the ship, ready to confront Raiden and Sub-Zero. "Now do I have your attention, Sub-Zero?" Frost asked. "The warriors sinking the fleet are under my command!"
"You have made a deal with the devil, Frost." Sub-Zero said. You are nothing but a traitor to your own kind."
"You've ignored me my entire life. Kronika saw my talent from the start." Frost tells them. She throws ice bombs, which they both dodge. She fires smaller ones from her shoulders. Sub-Zero gets up close and cold shoulder bashes her and punches and double kicks her. Raiden summons his staff and swings at her, cracking her faceplate mask and cuts her right arm. Frost kicks the staff out of his hands, wraps her legs around his neck and throws him down. Sub-Zero chops her left shoulder and kicks her in the chin and top of the head, breaking her faceplate completely. Raiden gets up and he and Frost trade blows with each other. She is skilled from her training with the Lin Kuie, but she was no match. He summons lightning from the ground, electrocuting her feet and swings his staff at her head once more, sending her into Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero thrusts his hand up her chest, causing her alot of pain and blood to come out and throws a large, sharp icicle towards her right shoulder, tearing her right arm off in the process. Sub Zero punches her left eye, and double kicks her in the chest, cracking it greatly, shoulder bashes her and swings two ice axes at her two legs, cutting them and making them bleed greatly, and slices her other arm off. Frost falls back, out cold.
"Such wasted potential." Sub-Zero rolls his eyes.
"The good she could've done in command of the Cyber Lin Kuei." Raiden said.
"She commands them and not Sektor. Even with the factories destroyed, she still controls them. If you can cut her off, all of the cyborgs should shut down forever." Sub-Zero realized.
"If that's the case, she is linked to them. They follow her thoughts." This gives Raiden an idea. He bends down and puts his hands on her head and electrocutes her, shocking her. Present Jax seems to be having a hard time fighting the cyborgs. Same with the Special Forces and Outworld. But then all of a sudden, all of the Cyber Lin Kuei fall down. They have been permanently shut down.
"Ha. Candy ass bitch." Present Jax said.
On The Special Forces ship, they see that all the cyborgs are shut down. "Okay? That was weird." Alex said.
"Frost. Someone, Raiden or Sub-Zero I'm assuming both defeated her and offlined her. She must've been controlling them." Jacqui realized.
"That makes sense, considering Sektor is dead. Who else other than Frost would be controlling them. Thank god that's a fucking load off of our backs." Cassie said.
"This isn't over. We're almost there to shore. The Keep is there." Alex reminds them and they nod.
"Well we're gonna have an unwelcome committee very soon." Past Jax said, pointing to the undead.
In Kronika's Keep, Liu Lang wakes up and finds himself in the keep. He tries to break free but couldn't even budge one bit. "I would advise saving your strength, Liu Kang." Kronika said as she approaches with revenants Liu Kang, Kung Lao. Jade and Kitana.
"What do you want from me?" Liu Kang demanded.
"You will aid in my protection." Kronika said.
"Not likely. You know fully well I will never assist you. I know what you are really after." Liu Kang said.
"I know, Liu Kang. He will come to me. For you, I have you right where I want you." Kronika said. Revenant Liu Kang steps up.
"I have mastered Shinnok's sorcerery under his guidance. With my strength and yours combined, I will avenge myself upon killing Raiden." Revenant Liu Kang said.
"It is almost time. Raiden's armies approach us. He must be killed in order for our success. Kill him and bring me Alex." Kronika said.
Revenant Liu Kang nods to her and turns to his younger self. His hands glow green and starts taking most of Liu Kang's soul. Young Liu Kang yells in pain as his body turns gray and passes out, barely alive. His revenant laughs, assuming victory is at hand for them.
As the heroes approach shore, close to Kronika's keep. All of a sudden, Revenant Liu Kang boosts himself up to the main fleet, ready to fight. He seems stronger than before. Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Present Jax attempt to help, but Raiden silently looks at them, as if to tell them to stand back. "Time after time, Kronika's schemes have pitted us against each other. That cycle must end, Liu Kang." Raiden said.
"This time it will!" Revenant Liu Kang does a powerful fire kick on Raiden, injuring him.
"This power. Is this Kronika's gift?" Raiden asked as he gets up.
"A gift to myself you could say. I mastered Shinnok's sorcery and transferred my younger self's power to mine." Revenant Liu Kang corrects him.
"You stole your own soul. Perverted your own nature." Raiden said.
"A lesson you taught me, Raiden. To fight my enemies by any means necessary." Revenant Liu Kang said. They fight as Raiden summons lightning down on him, but the revenant dodges and shoots two fireballs. Raiden ducks and uppercuts him. He backhands and throws Revenant Liu Kang down. He kicks Raiden back and gets back up. Raiden summons his staff once more and attempts to swing, but Revenant Liu Kang dragon parries it and does a four kick and bicycle kick combo. He chops his staff in half, making it useless. He swings his nunchucks, but Raiden avoids it and grabs his wrists and flies up to throw him down. Revenant Liu Kang has not given up. He gets up and tries to do another dragon kick to kill him, but Raiden was prepared. He grabs Liu Kang by the throat, and fires lighting at his chest, sending him backwards into the wall, defeating him.
"I have conquered the darkness within me. You must do the same." Raiden said.
"You will have to kill me." Revenant Liu Kang said weakly.
"I would rather save you." Raiden lights up and grabs Liu Kang, and they both start to glow.
In Kronika's Keep, the younger Liu Kang, unconscious, senses Raiden calling to him. He is then transported away by Raiden's power. Kronika and Cetrion see this happen. They realized what Raiden has done. He has combined their powers. Kronika and Cetrion walk to the hourglass, knowing that they will have to improvise as their victory is no longer certain.
Back on Kharon's ship, Raiden is no longer there. He has merged both versions of Liu Kang together. Liu Kang has become Fire God Liu Kang. He has control over fire and lightning. Sub-Zero, Present Jax and Scorpion see this. Kung Lao and Kitana jump over to witness what happened. Alex looks through binoculars and shows the others what has happened. They could not help but be amazed.
"Is that him?" Cassie asked.
"Yeah, but he looks different. Whatever Raiden did, this must be a good thing." Alex said.
On the main ship, most of the others remain surprised by what has happened. "Liu Kang?" Sub-Zero asked.
"I am and I am not." Fire God Liu Lang said.
"What happened to Raiden?" Present Jax said.
"He is part of me. Bound to my soul. He made me a god of fire and thunder. For now at least." Liu Kang said.
"A god? Incredible." Kitana said in awe.
"Now he is out of her league." Kung Lao said.
"I have attained the memories of my Revenant. I know where the keep is, and what Kronika's plan is. I know where to find the hourglass. We can still beat Kronika." Liu Kang said as he had an idea. He spares a glimpse of Alex, knowing what they must do, him included. Alex sees them looking over at their ship he is on. He already figured out what he has to do. He nods to Liu Kang as his pupils glow orange.
The heroes have reached the shores of the Netherrealm. All of the ships have made it. The undead army approaches them, ready to attack and kill anything on sight.
"Brace for impact!" Kharon yelled. The ship crashes and the bridge draws down, crushing some of the undead.
Sub-Zero was the first one to attack, freezing and killing them along the way. Scorpion joins in and draws some of the attention. The next ship, the Special Forces, is the next to come. The soldiers throw grenades and blow up several of them. Cassie, Jacqui, Past Jax and Alex zipline down to join the fight followed by the Johnnies and Past Sonya. Alex fires his energy beams from one hand and fires a gun from the other while the others use their firearms. Kung Lao and the Monks join in to fight the army, and then Kitana, Sindel, Jade, Kotal and the Tarkatans and Shokan. They start cutting them down and ripping them apart. Cassie and her team are slowly starting to have trouble, until Present Jax joins in and punches the ground, killing a lot of them. He turns to face his daughter.
"This mean you're back?" Jacqui asked, hoping for the right answer.
"This means I'm sorry, Jacqui. And hell yes I'm back." Present Jax said. They embraced. Cassie and the others are relieved that he saw the error of his ways and came back to them against Kronika.
Despite this, the undead are still overwhelming them. They start to hear thunder in the clouds, as Liu Kang descends down, much to Cassie's surprise. Liu Kang uses his newfound powers and crashes down onto the surface, causing a massive explosion that causes the majority of the army to be destroyed. The heroes march forward to meet up with him as Liu Kang kills the undead guarding the gate. He charges up a big fire punch and destroys the gate, killing even more undead. As they march in, Liu Kang hovers over the monsters, shocking them as he goes. Kitana and Kung Lao meet up with Liu Kang, intending to fight alongside him.
Alex stays behind, just in case he needs to help the others out. He believes that Liu Kang has this in the bag but still plans on helping him just in case. He sees Jade in danger of being cut down and absorbs the Earth and combines it with his strength. He picks up the undead and rips it in half and helps Jade up. "I told you I would help protect you, Jade." Alex tells her.
"That may be so, but that doesn't mean I won't be your guardian anymore, Alex." Jade said as they both smile and carry onwards. Sindel and Kotal fight side by side and cut down as many undead as possible. Both Jaxes work together to take down some of them while Jacqui and Cassie fight back to back, shooting them down. They were nearly ambushed by dozens of them, but Alex and Jade decapitate all of them with his disc-shields and her razor rang. Jacqui looks on in amazement while Cassie blows her fiancé a kiss and nod to Jade. The Cages shoot and beat more down and meet up with the other Forces.
"So this is what fighting wars is like? Now this is freaky Friday." Past Johnny said.
"Oh you have no idea." Present Johnny said.
"Every fight I have been in, I was just fighting for myself. But this. This is for the family." Past Johnny said as they and Past Sonya shoot down more undead creatures.
Liu Kang, Kitana and Kung Lao reach the door to the keep.
"Whatever happens, I am honored to fight by your side." Liu Kang tells them.
"Likewise, Liu Kang." Kitana replied.
"Me too, brother." Kung Lao said.
'May the Elder Gods protect us." Liu Kang said. He charges up his hand with fire strength and busts the door open, where Kronika and the revenants Kung Lao, Kitana and Jade await. Their eyes are now blue instead of red thanks to a power boost from Kronika. She used the powers of the hourglass to strengthen them further.
"Liu Kang. God of Thunder and Fire." Kronika said. "Combining with Raiden has the benefits of novelty. But it is also too little, too late." Kronika starts using the hourglass. Liu Kang charges forward, but stops and notices Kung Lao and Kitana not moving.
"Kung Lao! Kitana!" Liu Kang tries to pull on her hand, but he slips. They started going backwards. They are not the only ones. Outside, Alex has been killing more and more of the undead. He shoots one in the head with a gun and fires an energy beam through another's chest. That is until he notices something was not right. Alex sees the two same ones he just killed just get put back together. They look like they have never been killed to begin with. Instead of attacking him, they start to run backwards. Alex is confused by this and quickly realizes what's going on. He notices his friends not moving and start to run backwards too.
"Cassie. Cassie!" Alex tries to pull her by the shoulders, but it is no use. He tries to do the same for Jacqui, both Jaxes and Johnnies and Jade, but nothing. The undead start to back up too. He hears a voice from far away speaking to him.
"It is no use, Alex. You cannot help them. If you wish to save them, come to me. I wait for you." Kronika said.
Alex sighs. He looks at Cassie and everyone else. There is nothing he can do. If he wants to save Cassie and those he cares about, he will have to fight Kronika after all. He begins to walk towards where the hourglass is, ignoring all of the undead and sees his allies moving back. He comes across Kung Lao and Kitana suffering the same thing as well. He looks at them in worry.
"May the Elder Gods protect you." Alex said. He continues through the door. As soon as he enters, the hole fixes itself and the door is sealed shut. Liu Kang sees Alex, and they both know what to do.
"Welcome, Alex. I've been waiting for us to meet for three years." Kronika smiles, finally the last part of her plan has come to her.
"Why is it that me and Liu Kang are not affected by this?" Alex asked.
"Because of Raiden's gift to him, he is immune to my time powers, as are you because of your god statuses. And because I basically chose not to." Kronika said. "I need you here, Alex. You will play the biggest part in my New Era."
"Well that's too bad, because your revenant buddies will have to kill me before that will happen." Alex stands in defiance.
"No they won't. Because you will not fight them. Your conversation is with me, Alex." Kronika said. She uses her telekinetic powers to pull Alex slowly towards her. He tries to break free and use his powers, but he couldn't lift his arms at all. Kronika smiles as she finally has him in her grasp before turning to Liu Kang. He tries to get through them to help Alex, but the revenants are in the way.
"You want to save him? You have to get through us, Fire God." Revenant Jade scaid.
"Your allies are gone, Liu Kang. My allies remain to defend me. Finish him!" Kronika ordered.
The revenants all fight him at once. Despite his superior skills, the three start to gain the upperhand. Revenant Kung Lao knocks him back. Liu Kang gets up and closes his eyes to hear Raiden's voice. "Earthrealm's Jinsei flows within you. Let it fuel your fire."
Liu Kang does that and yells and powers up, fueling his fire and thunder. As his fight with the revenants resume, Cetrion works on the hourglass. Kronika watches the revenants fight the new god and forces Alex to watch. Liu Kang began to gain the upper hand against the three warriors. He punches Revenant Jade and knees her chin. Liu Kang gets behind her and forces the staff up to her throat and she starts to choke. After a moment, she falls down unconscious and knees her staff into two. He then turns to fight Revenants Kitana and Kung Lao.
"Stand down. I do not wish to harm the both of you." Liu Kang orders the revenants. Obviously, they refuse to listen.
"Harm me? You already killed me! My fate was decided when I joined you in Raiden's alliance. Something I will not repeat in Kronika's New Era." Revenant Kitana said.
"Your own ego knows no bounds. It should've been me, Liu Kang!" Revenant Kung Lao said hypocritically. He was never one to admit his own ego to begin with.
"I did not ask for this. It was brought down upon me. I can say the same for Alex. Return him." Liu Kang said.
"It will never happen. Your friend is Kronika's now. You will not live to see anyone again!" Revenant Kitana said. They fight Liu Kang in a 2 on 1 fight.
"You can do it, Liu Kang! If anyone can beat those fuckers, you can!" Alex tells his friend.
The two revenants charge at the fire god from both sides. Kitana swings her fans at him, which he swiftly dodges and backflips back twice. Revenant Kung Lao throws his hat at Liu Kang, but he parried it with his nunchucks and parries his fast attacks and double kicks his chest and back kicks him in the face, but is met by wind swooping him up from his feet and Revenant Kitana and triple kicks him in the back. Liu Kang quickly recovers and was ready.
The two revenants come in at him and he creates a wall with his new enchanted fire powers. Revenant Kitana clears it with her fans but the fire god is nowhere to be seen. Liu Kang uses his thunder powers and appears behind Kitana and slams his nunchucks on the back of her head, slamming her to the ground, face first and she flies up, and Liu Kang jumps and double kicks her with his thunder powers, sending her down in defeat. Revenant Kung Lao and Liu Kang were evenly matched. Kung Lao swings his hat at Liu Kang, but he kicks it out of his hand and kicks him in the forehead twice and does an elbow strike and a palm strike to the face. Kung Lao does a roundhouse kick to the face, a knee strike to the chest and spin chops his neck. Liu Kang knees his stomach and kicks his chest and punches his neck. The fire god delivers a strong punch to the jaw, cracking it, and does a strong knee strike to it and Revenant Kung Lao was sent flying and falls to the ground, back first, knocked out cold.
"Still alive." Kronika said out of annoyance.
"Yes, Kronika. You were right to fear Raiden's power and mine combined. This is your only chance. Release Alex and stand down." Liu Kang threatened her.
"Not while I still have the crown. With Alex by my side, you will lose." Kronika said.
"You owe a big explanation for all of this. Why the hell do you want me out of all people?" Alex said.
Kronika thought for a moment and with confidence on her face of victory, she decided to tell them her intentions. "I see no harm in explaining everything to both of you. You have earned your chance to listen to what I have to say, Liu Kang." Kronika said before turning to Alex. "You must now be aware of why you are here, Alex?"
"Because you killed my real parents. You watched as I was born and sensed my powers. You took me from them." Alex glares at her.
"Forgive me, I did not intend on taking their lives, but their resistance proved to be too much. So I killed them to put them out of their misery. I originally planned on raising you myself to control your powers, but the Elder Gods sensed their deaths, and planned to wage war on me. I vanished you to the other timeline where Mortal Kombat never existed to keep you out of harm's way. Doing this locked your powers in the process, so the Elder Gods could not find you. I have hidden my Keep from them. Your parents met during the invasion by Shao Kahn." Kronika explained.
"I was there for twenty-two years, until you dragged me from it and brought me to my real home. You shouldn't have done that. You underestimate me, just as you do with Raiden and Liu Kang. It will cost you. I saw this place in a dream when I first came to Earthrealm." Alex tells her.
"It was more than a dream, Alex. It was real. I was the one who spoke to you. You are more powerful than anyone has ever seen. More powerful than Raiden. Soon you will match the strength of an Elder God. After sensing my son's decapitation at the hands of Dark Raiden, I focused my inner rage and channeled it with my powers to bring you back to your real home in Earthrealm. However, this cost me so much of my energy that I needed to rest for three years to regain my strength." Kronika said.
"So it is true what Cetrion said. I am half human half elder god." Alex said.
"Yes. You are right. With your status as a human and god, you have extraordinary powers compared to Liu Kang. I had Cetrion explain your parentage to you. Your father's original power is not as strong as yours. You can absorb elements and use them as ranged attacks, and defense or for strength. And you can even shield yourself from elements when used against them. You learned that from your experience with Kano, Frost, Kitana and Nightwolf." Kronika said.
"Kano and Frost said they worked for an agent but didn't mention it. I'm assuming it was you." Alex guessed.
"Correct. I have ordered Kano and Cetrion to fail to capture you on purpose, to unlock more of your powers." Kronika said.
"And you let Alex train with the Special Forces, Kitana, Kung Lao and Jade." Liu Kang said. "You tried to get through to him and trick him into joining you. That is your worst mistake."
"Yes. Because of his strong will, spirit, bravery and wisdom, Alex would've seen through me. It was part of my contingency plan. I brought him to the Special Forces, knowing he would be best safe with them. It was all shown to me through my hourglass, that Alex would discover his powers during his first encounter with Kano and a year later, Frost." Kronika said.
"And you tried to break me. Sindel told me herself. If it weren't for Raiden, Jacqui and Cassie, your plan probably would've worked." Alex stated.
"I had hoped that I would be able to break your spirit and make you feel desperate enough to join me after I ordered Cetrion to tell you the truth and you knew that from Sindel, that is until Raiden, Cassandra Cage and Jacquline Briggs intervened. Which was why I had planned ahead. I have sent Sindel, Skarlet and Geras to fight you after your training with Jade, Kung Lao, and Kitana as a backup plan. I had no idea that you could defeat them so easily. Even a normal Earthrealmer such as Sonya Blade was able to defeat Geras." Kronika said.
"You realize that Skarlet and Geras both tried to kill me since you want me so bad." Alex reminded her.
"I must apologize. Skarlet was draining your blood as part of the plan to increase your powers further from your near-death experience and possibly bring you to me. I did not ask Geras to kill you. He disobeyed me so I punished him." Kronika apologizes on Geras' behalf as she looks at the four lit torches. "I have allowed you to train with everyone of your friends and allies, so no one can stand in your way. Your bond with them has made you stronger. I watched you for these past three years. However, I am rather disgusted by your choice of falling in love with the likes of Cassandra Cage."
"It's because she and her father Johnny Cage both defeated your son. He tried to kill Sonya but Johnny stepped in and Cassie did the same rescuing her father from him." Alex said. "They became my family and friends regardless of what you have planned."
"Yes. And I must make sure that must never happen again." Kronika said.
"And what are your intentions with wanting Alex? Surely he must be proven more valuable than anyone that has existed." Liu Kang guessed.
"You are correct, Liu Kang. More valuable than you or Raiden." Kronika said.
"So what does this have to do with me? Why do you want me alive rather than dead or steal my powers?" Alex questions her.
"I am glad you two have asked. I have no plans for killing you, Alex. Stealing your powers or even your soul are beyond even me and Shang Tsung, despite his ability to steal souls. Attempting to do so will likely kill the one trying to steal your power. I have a better plan for you." Kronika said as she brought Alex closer to her. Kronika smirks and caresses his face as he stares in defiance. "I want you by my side. Help me rule the universe. Become my second son and be the ruler of the New Era, the lord and guardian of Shinnok and Cetrion to ensure that the likes of Raiden and the Cage family will not cause any more trouble. You are part god, but no immortality. I can, however, grant you that and share you my power in the New Era. And I will promise you a new lover. A queen to join by your side constructed by me, better than Cassandra Cage."
Liu Kang felt disgusted about hearing such things. Kronika killing Alex's parents and wanting him to be part of her family instead. "Kronika! Enough!" Liu Kang said. "You may be a titan, but you are not invincible! You will not have Alex!"
"Your power cannot rival that of Alex's or an Elder God. Cetrion!" Kronika steps aside, and Cetrion appears in a dark red-like color, She is now Dark Cetrion.
"As you wish, Mother." Cetrion attacks him from a distance and shoots fire and wind at Liu Kang. He gets pushed back by wind and still stands and shoots fireballs at Cetrion. She stands back up. "You match me step by step." She attacks again but Liu Kang avoids it and shocks her, knocking her down.
"Because your heart is not in the battle, Cetrion." Liu Kang said. "You fight for your mother's vision. But as a goddess of virtue, you know that her desire for balance is folly."
"Heed me, Cetrion, he lacks our vision and wisdom." Kronika tells her.
"Please. No virtue is served by condemning the realms to endless wars." Liu Kang pleads.
Cetrion looked back at her mother and Liu Kang. She feels as if she has a small sense of doubt. Regardless, she still wishes to be by her mother, no matter what. "The greatest virtue is abiding my mother's will, Liu Kang." Cetrion said. "I cannot fail her." As they begin to fight, Kronika turns back to Alex, putting both hands on his shoulders.
"I beg you, Alex. Turn against Liu Kang and join me. You will be invincible, With these powers, you can rule all of the universe alongside Shinnok and Cetrion and stop any threats to oppose them. Join me and be part of my family instead." Kronika said.
Alex tries to break free, but still could not. "Do not listen to her, Alex! Remember those you love!" Liu Kang tells him as he fights Cetrion. Alex looks at Kronika, still glaring at her.
"No." Alex said, staring with anger. This did not anger Kronika, as she once again smiled, as she cups Alex's face in her hands.
"I thought you would say that. That's why I am going to convince you to join me." Kronika said. She lifts Alex further in the air and starts performing a ritual on him. Kronika starts glowing light blue. Kronika begins to transfer a copy of her powers, soul and spirit to Alex, forcing him to absorb them. Her powers have the color of blue, her black spirit and green soul. Alex attempted to use his powers to resist, but it's not enough to stop it from flowing into his body.
"W-what are you doing to me?" Alex asked as he tries to resist.
"Giving you a taste of my power. My spirit. My soul. Despite how strong you've gotten, you cannot resist it. Soon, you will succumb to my influence and you will be mine. Fulfill your destiny." Kronika smirked as she held Alex in the air. Alex screams in agony. His eyes start to change color slowly to black with green pupils, similar to Kronika's.
"Alex!" Liu Kang said as he knocks Cetrion back.
"There is nothing you can do, Liu Kang. Your friend will belong to my mother once he's absorbed her power." Cetrion said as they continue fighting.
"I will not allow you to corrupt him! If you won't listen, then so be it. Someday you will understand." Liu Kang said.
Liu Kang dodges her element attacks. He hits her forehead with his nunchucks and strikes her with lightning. He gets trapped in vines but uses his fire to break free. He does a four kick combo to the chest and face. She throws a boulder at him but he kicks through it and grabs and throws her. She freezes him in place and whips him with her vines. Liu Kang quickly recovers, sees Alex in pain and decides to end this fight. Cetrion comes to attack but he parries them and swings his nunchucks, hitting her. He summons a fire dragon, which descends down on her, burning her, and does one final punch, knocking her backwards towards Kronika. This causes Kronika to turn away from Alex and focus on her daughter, slowing down the ritual, but still going.
"Mother. I have failed you." Cetrion said with her head down. She is badly injured from Liu Kang's fatal blow attack.
"My dearest Cetrion. You have fought admirably. Yet there is one final service to perform." Kronika said with sadness.
"I understand, my mother." Cetrion accepts. She transfers her power and soul to Kronika, making her stronger.
"You will be exalted in the New Era, Cetrion." Kronika said. Liu Kang attacks her, but she deflects his fireball and pushes him back with sand. "And you, Liu Kang, have failed! History rewinds, giving way to the New Era." She uses the hourglass to reverse time. The keep now resembles the prehistoric times before humanity existed.
"No!" Liu Kang said in horror. Alex looks around, just as horrified as his friend is.
"The realms you've sought to protect are undone. Erased! You cannot save a future that no longer exists! There is only the New Era! And Alex will be mine! The ritual will be completed soon and he will realize my vision! He will be under my control for all eternity!" Kronika announces.
"Do not listen to her, Alex! You must fight it. Remember everything." Liu Kang said. Alex is able to listen to what he has to say. He continues to try to resist her soul, powers and spirit. But his eyes are closer to matching Kronika's. He closes his eyes and starts to remember what everyone has said to him as he hears his own heart beating.
"You have a responsibility, Alexander." Raiden said.
"Remember everything that you love." Liu Kang said.
"You have a spark of potential." Kitana said.
"I believe soon that you will be the best of us." Jade said.
"Do what you think is right, Alex." Sindel said.
"You might be able to go out of Cage's League and even mine." Kung Lao said.
"You are one of my best friends." Jacqui said.
"I'm glad to have you on the team." Sonya said.
"You'll be able to beat anyone one day." Johnny said.
"You have a purpose." Jax said.
"You're a good man at heart." Takeda said.
"Those who care about you accept you for who you are, no matter what happens to you." Kung Jin said.
"Alex. I love you." Cassie said.
All those words he heard from those close to him cause him to remember why he is here. He opens his eyes. What his purpose is. Earthrealm is his home. He is to defend it from any threat, including Kronika. He knows what he has to do.
"I know what I must do." Alex whispered to himself. He closes his eyes again and absorbs the power Kronika intended to give him. He floats down and stands on his feet. He grits his teeth and closes his fists tight.
Liu Kang and Kronika fight. She will have to improvise because her time powers have no effect on a god. She tends to throw projectiles at him as he dodges. She summons sand barriers to summon walls to stop his punches. Kronika charges in and kicks Liu Kang. He shoots fireballs at her, making her stumble. He bicycle kicks but didn't do much as she fires a time sphere at him, sending him backwards. He summons lightning down at Kronika, and charges and does a lightning kick. Kronika stumbles back and creates a shield around herself, but Liu Kang shoots lightning through it, forcing her to a knee.
"The realms will not submit to your endless wars." Liu Kang said.
"Fight me further, and your friends are lost." Kronika warns him. "They have no future unless I create it."
"You lie. Just like you have to your allies." Liu Kang said. This causes Kronika to get angry. She summons sand from underneath his feet and sends him upwards. She kicks and fires another sphere at him, sending him far.
"I have warned you, Liu Kang. Your realms are about to be lost permanently." Kronika said, as she turns her attention to the hourglass. She was about to rewind time back even further. It seems that she was going to win. Before she could start, she is suddenly hit by a powerful attack, knocking her out of the air. She recovers and sees that she is seriously wounded on her right side. Kronika turns to see where it came from. It came from Alex. They both see the fifth and final torch light up. Alex was the one that fired that powerful energy beam at Kronika. Despite her wound, this did not upset her.
"I won't let your asshole evilness twist more timelines into pointless wars, Kronika!" Alex said.
"Yes. At last. You have unlocked your true power. Just what I have been hoping for. Yet you managed to absorb it and fire it back at me. I'm impressed." Kronika smirked. "However, this does not change my plans. There is still a place for you by my side, Alex. I will forgive you no matter what. Leave your friends. Leave Cassandra Cage and join me in the New Era as my son."
Alex looks at Liu Kang running back, ready to join the fight. He looks back at Kronika. "Never, Kronika. You're nothing but insane. I don't want to rule by your side or leave my friends. I want to live my life. I am proud to be half human and half elder god. You killed my real family and you will pay. Your mistake was letting me get to know everyone! You will have to kill me." Alex yelled in anger. His pupils and body glow yellow. His powers have reached maximum. He is ready to fight Kronika.
"How unfortunate. No matter. After I dispose of Liu Kang and weaken you enough, I will redo the ritual and force you by my side for all eternity. I will then forgive you." Kronika said. She still has plans to bring Alex with her. It will be her downfall.
Alex and Liu Kang both run towards Kronika. She fires time daggers at them which they easily dodge. Thanks to Alex's speed, he lands a one-two punch and two roundhouse kicks. She hits him with two wave attacks, making him stumble backwards. Liu Kang comes in and front flip kicks her in the head and throws three fire punches. Kronika summons a giant T. rex to charge at them which they narrowly dodge. This was a distraction for Kronika to grab Liu Kang by the throat, and summons a dagger ready to kill him. Alex absorbs Fire from the permanently lit torches and shoots fire at her, making her let go of Liu Kang. Alex runs over to help Liu Kang up.
"You've come far, Alex. You do not stand a chance against me. You will once I give your copy of my soul and spirit forever." Kronika remains confident, but does not know that she is becoming overconfident. Alex shoots fire at her, but she summons another sand wall to block it. Alex was prepared for that, so he shoots a big yellow energy beam right through the barrier and it hits Kronika. She is receiving more injures from both of them. Kronika was surprised that Alex learned to switch between elements and energy and can hold them as long as he likes and can absorb infinite. She knew that last one already. Kronika summons a sphere that fires a beam, but Alex dive jumps out of the way and runs in and throws three fire punches and a backflip kick, sending her flying.
Suddenly, a sand tornado appears around her and she vanished. In her place, suddenly Kitana and Cassie appeared before them.
"Kitana? Cassandra?" Liu Kang is confused.
"How? I saw you two going backwards when Kronika reversed time on everyone." Alex said.
"I don't know. The last thing I remember was being in the keep with you and Kung Lao." Kitana said.
"I was with you and then suddenly you were gone and sand appeared around us and me and Kitana were taken captive. We must've broken free once you defeated her." Cassie said.
"You've done it. You've bested her in Mortal Kombat." Kitana said.
"We don't have to fight anymore. Now we can move on." Cassie tells them. "To a new life."
"Liu Kang. You and I can rest now. We can rule Outworld. You and me. We don't have to worry about anymore threats. Shao Kahn is no more. Anyone who stands in our way will suffer the consequences." Kitana said.
"Kitana I…. I don't know what to say." Liu Kang doesn't know what to do.
"She's right, Alex. With all of this power you have, you can beat anyone. We can start our new life now. Move on from our families. Forget about dad, and mom. They'll be fine without us. We can build the life you always wanted." Cassie tells him before hugging him.
"You're right. I do want to start a family, start a life with you." Alex said. "But there was one thing missing."
"And what would that be, Alex?" Cassie said.
"The Cassie that I know would never just forget her family, including her mother." Alex said before blasting her back.
"Alex! What are you doing?" Liu Kang questions him.
"You're about to see, Liu Kang." Alex said, pointing to Cassie. The Cassie that was brought here was a fake. The clone disintegrated into sand. "Look out!" Alex warns him.
The fake Kitana tries to attack Liu Kang but he dodges and shocks her and she also disintegrates. "You're right, Alex. Kitana wouldn't want to start a dictatorship like Shao Kahn." As he said that, Kronika appears
"You are a bright man for a half Earthrealmer half elder god. That's another reason why I chose you. This is where it ends with you by my side, Alex; and the death of you, Liu Kang!" Kronika said.
"The only one dying today is you, Kronika!" Liu Kang said.
"Our fates are our own. No one else can decide our fates and destinies but us. I'm gonna kill you, asshole." Alex tells her. They then resume their match.
"Time for the final round." Liu Kang said.
Kronika fires time daggers at them but they dodge again. Alex absorbs the earth element from the ground as he recovers. He does two punches and an uppercut. He then fired an energy beam at her and kicks her to Liu Kang and he does a three kick combo followed by a dragon kick and a backflip kick. She shoots a time sphere at Alex, but he fires his energy beam at it. They seem evenly matched until Alex yells as he gives it a boost and overpowers it and hits Kronika, making her drop the crown. She is down to one knee. Alex and Liu Kang nod to each other, knowing what to do. Liu Kang fires lightning at Alex and he absorbs it. He fires lightning and Liu Kang shoots fire at Kronika. She feels a lot of pain. And then she turns into a hot glass statue.
Alex, still glowing yellow, steps forward with Liu Kang. The fire god karate chops her hands. Alex Roundhouse kicks her head into pieces. And they push it down with a fingertip, shattering it to pieces. Kronika is now dead.
"Fatality." Alex and Liu Kang said at the same time.
Liu Kang closes his eyes for a moment in hopes of seeing a friend again. He opens his eyes to hear his voice. "Our work here is done, Liu Kang and Alexander." Raiden appears, but he looks different than before. He no longer has the same god eyes and is wearing different clothes. Raiden is now mortal.
"Lord Raiden." Liu Kang approaches.
"I am merely Raiden now. You have proven yourself worthy to take my place as Earthrealm's new protector, Lord Liu Kang." Raiden corrects him and accepts him as his successor. They bow to each other.
"Raiden. What happened to you?" Alex asked.
"Upon giving my powers to Liu Kang, I also gave him my immortality. You have done well, Alexander. You have made the right decision and defied Kronika. You have assisted Lord Liu Kang into saving Earthrealm and all of time." Raiden praises Alex, making him smile out of gratitude.
"Where do we go from here?" Liu Kang asks.
"The sands of time are yours to shape. You must return the hourglass to the proper time to construct a new history. A better one." Raiden instructs.
"The fate of the realms are in my hands? Raiden, I cannot do this alone." Liu Kang fears.
"Our friends. They're gone. All of them are gone. We'll never see them again." Alex is saddened, looking at his ring.
"No. They're not gone, Alexander. We can bring them back, including Cassandra." Raiden reassures him before turning to Liu Kang. "You will have a partner."
"Kitana." Liu Kang said. He always knew he and Kitana would be destined for each other, since they met and when he and Raiden convinced her to turn against Shao Kahn.
"Your destinies were always intertwined." Raiden said. "Return to the Dawn of Time with her and the hourglass and create a better future. I look forward to meeting again in the next timeline."
"Wait." Alex said, getting their attention. "You'll need this. Kronika couldn't be able to craft a new timeline without it. I already did my job. It's time for you to do yours." Alex holds Kronika's crown.
"I am not sure if it is a good idea, Alex." Liu Kang said. Before anyone could debate, a familiar voice is heard.
"You must, Lord Liu Kang." Two figures walk through the portal. It was hard to tell who it was at first, until the three recognized them. It was Fujin and a different version of Nightwolf. Fujin and Nightwolf have exited the portal and approached them. "You need Kronika's Crown, otherwise you cannot restore the timeline." Fujin said.
"Fujin?" Raiden recognized.
"It is I, brother. I know that you are not my Raiden." Fujin stated.
"How do you know this, Fujin? If you don't mind me asking, where the hell have you been for these past few years? We've been waiting for you." Alex questioned him.
"Forgive me, Alex. I became aware of why you were summoned here. Before I could warn you, Kronika captured me and locked me away to make sure her plan went uninterrupted." Fujin explained.
"What about him?" Alex points to Nightwolf.
"I was summoned here to the future by Kronika at the start of the time-merger. She offered me a place in her New Era, promising a new Matoka Tribe without the Great Spirit. I refused her offer, so she banished me to the void and I met Fujin." Nightwolf explained.
"While trapped in the void beyond time, we overheard everything about Kronika's plan. We were powerless to intervene. She ensured her preparation in every part of the master plan, recovering the crown and her intent to turn Alex against everyone, but she failed. The moment Liu Kang and Alex killed her, we were set free." Fujin said.
"That explains that." Alex said.
"Why do I need the crown?" Liu Kang asked.
"Because Kronika would not dare to restart history without it. It does more than just amplify her strength. Attempting to do so will cause the hourglass to shatter and all realms would be doomed. Because Alex knocked the crown off her during the fight, you can now bring back the timeline that we lost and improve it." Fujin said.
"I see. We must not delay any further. We must fix the timeline and undo all of Kronika's mistakes she has made." Raiden said as they return to the dawn of time. Kitana is waiting for them.
"Are you ready?" Liu Kang asked Kitana.
"Yes. But no matter how we sculpt the sands of time, we cannot plan for every possibility. Mortals will make their own choices. New evils will arise. Old evil may even return." Kitana is worried.
"Each realm must choose its own destiny. Whatever those choices, we will face them together." Liu Kang tells her.
"He's right. We all much choose our own path that we decide. No one can pick it for you but you. It won't be perfect, but it'll be a hell lot better than what we used to have no matter how many mistakes we fix." Alex said.
"You're right, Alex. We all must do. We must fix everything that Kronika has done wrong, including bringing back our friends and families." Kitana smiles at his words. "Shall we begin?"
Alex nods. He bows his head to Liu Kang and hands him the crown. He puts it on as he and Kitana decide to work on the hourglass. "Are you coming, Alex?" He asked.
"Me?" Alex replied.
"Yes. You have earned your place, my friend. We will need your help. How else should I offer you my thanks for killing Kronika? After all, you deserve the credit." Liu Kang smiles. Alex looks at him before looking at Kitana and Raiden, who silently agree.
"Alright. I'll help you. Let's fix the timeline. For everyone." Alex smiled as he joined Kitana and Liu Kang. He activates his powers and glows yellow.
It will be a very difficult task for the heroes. With Kronika gone, it is now up to them to forge their own New Era, and bring back all of their loved ones. But upon doing so, old enemies will return. New enemies will rise and threaten the realms. But they will all face those threats together. In the world of Mortal Kombat.

Note: Surprise! A cliffhanger! I thought it'd be best to do so given that I have more Mortal Kombat stories planned for the near future. I included Sub-Zero to help Raiden fight against Frost since she claimed to have a vendetta against Raiden in the game which makes no sense, since they never interacted. Now you know Kronika's true goal and her needs for Alex. I gave her as much of a background and more development as possible. But do not count her out yet. I hope you guys enjoyed the story.
