Nya POV: I sat there in shock, thinking over what Zane just told us.

We got an alert about Kai's condition and rushed to help, but Zane beat us to it and was finishing up when we arrived. But he looked concerned and saddened by something. He took us out and when we were all in another room he told us what Kai told him. And I was still having trouble believing it.

My brother went through that, suffering with those… things. Whatever they were and barely survived.

But who was her?

"That's… a lot." Jay whispered, just as speechless as all of us.

"We should have been faster." Cole said, visible upset.

"There's no way we could have been. We did everything we could have done, and Kai knows that." Zane said, trying to calm him down.

"How did you get him to tell you that?" Lloyd asked, looking just defeated.

"I don't think he meant too. I think it just came out as he relived it." That just made it worse.

"Who was the 'her' he talked about?" Jay asked, breaking his silence.

"I don't know, he didn't give a name." Zane answered.

"I don't think it's a coincidence that this girl appeared and we learn that Kai met a girl in that world." Cole stated, having a good point.

"But they haven't interacted with each other." I said, thinking about it.

"Maybe they have, I think they've talked once before when we weren't in the room." Zane said, which was another good point.

"And there might be a few things they can't talk about either." Jay stated.

"Despite all this, we still need to take their recovery seriously too. So, Zane, how are they physically?" Lloyd asked, facing him.

"Kai is doing better, we can try walking today if he's up for it. She's doing better as well, but still needs a lot of rest before we can try exercises." he answered, giving us some good news finally.

"Okay, Nya and Zane can stay on that while the rest of us can do some research on these guys." Lloyd said, and we all nodded.

Though Jay didn't look excited about the research part.

After that I immediately went to check on Kai, but he was still sleeping with an oxygen mask on. I checked his machines just to be safe before looking at his face. The remnants of tears were clear on his face and he was frowning, but his breathing was more steady than it was last time. Like he was at more peace than before. Maybe accidentally talking about it helped a lot more than we thought. I picked up a wipe and cleaned off the tears on his face and adjusted his blankets.

I looked over at the girl and noticed she was on her side, which was a different position than when she's actually sleeping. Meaning that she's probably awake and pretending she's still asleep.

I walked over to her side and whispered, "You're awake, right?"

She was silent for a few moments before turning back and said, "How did you know?"

"I noticed a couple times you sleep on your back, not your side. Which, given your injuries, makes sense. But why were you pretending to sleep?" I was confused by that behavior.

She didn't answer, and just looked away. Well, I guess that doesn't really matter, so I'll just ask the question I really want to know the answer to.

"Were you with my brother in that world?" I had to know.

She looked at me, surprised, and asked, "You're his sister?"

"Yes."

She didn't respond, and looked at him for a few moments before mumbling, "I was."

So Cole was right, they are connected. And that might mean Zane might be right about them talking alone as well. But that part doesn't matter as much.

"Can you tell me more about that world?" I asked, ready to pull up a chair.

She, for the first time, looked me straight in the eyes, but still she didn't say anything. But it was clear that she was thinking about it. Probably debating whether or not it was a good idea. Even if it wasn't I needed to know so I can help my brother.

I quietly pulled up a chair and waited for her to start. She sighed quietly and before finally telling me.

"I don't know what that place is called, not that I want to know, but I do know there's only one living person that exists there."

"Then all those soldiers are what, puppets?"

"Kind of, the grunts aren't capable of conscious thought. But the generals are, and they follow the will of their master. He's able to use the ashes of that place to make his soldiers with a power I've never seen before." she said. I've never heard of something like that either. I'll have to ask Sensei Wu later.

"What did he want with you and Kai?" I asked, preparing myself for the answer.

"... I'm sure he wanted Kai's power, though I'm not sure about it. I don't know what he wanted with me." she answered, seemingly retreating back.

"But he already has a strong army and power. What could Kai's power do for him?" I wondered out loud.

"Greedy people always want more than what they have." she responded, glancing at her wound.

She must have been through a lot like Kai, but she seems to be handling better. Or more like she had more time to get used to it, not like that's any better.

I stood up and said, "Your wound is getting better, but you're still going to have to rest before you can start with exercises."

"...okay." she responded.

"I'm Nya, by the way. Zane's the one that always comes in. You can ask him if you need anything." I said, giving her a small smile.

She looked at me for a few moments before saying, "Yuko."

I was a little surprised she gave me her name, but I didn't let it show and said, "Pleasure to meet you."

Yuko POV: I knew Kai had a sister, but to think she was as stubborn as him. I told her about him, but I didn't mention his name for a reason. That just opens the door for him to enter Ninjago, and that's the last thing anyone needs, or wants.

She went back to her brother and waited for him to wake up. But I doubt it will be anytime soon.

It turned to my side, trying to give them some space. And to not eavesdrop this time.
