Underleague
Chapter 46
Author Notes: I livveee...for now. Maybe. So long as I can stop sneez-achoo! Yeah sorry for the hold up guys. I've had this one in the background but I of course kept forgetting to post. So here we go, I do not own pokemon or undertale.
3rd P.O.V
Frisk was determined to check off every little mental piece on her list of priorities. The first was training-easy enough with Carrie and Papyrus there to help her. But the second however...proved to be a lot more difficult than expected.
"I'm tellin ya little buddy, Eve seems to be perfectly fine." Frisk wanted to believe him. She trusted him and has never steered her wrong before. But she couldn't help frowning as all of her pokemon are returned to her.
All of them were checked out and healed up from their training session with Carrie. "But she's been having dizzy spells Max. And has been shaking constantly! I'm really worried she's sick." It was understandable why she would be concerned.
However, the pokemon nurse could only shake his head, ready to light up a cigarette. He had no answers as to why her pokemon would be behaving this way. There was no fever, in fact her temperature was perfectly fine.
Eve was both mentally and physically stable, there was no diseases, or injuries to be found in her little fluffy body. Honestly the medical professional was stumped. His mind wracked with potential scenarios and explanations as to why this little eevee-it hits him.
Like a lightbulb, his eyes widen and brighten. "Hey kid, I got some questions for you. First off, do you happen to have any stones on you?" With furrowed brows, the ten year old tilts her head. "No?" Immediately she goes through her bag of belongings, shaking her head to confirm her statement.
"What do rocks have to do with Eve being sick?" A small hum escapes the man as the brown furred pokemon hops up on the counter for another quick examination. A smile forming as he hears Frisk's partner purr under his hand.
A pair of sweethearts, the both of them. If only all of his poke-patients and their trainers were as calm and nice. "Ok then. How long have you had Eve little buddy?" Burgerpants was slowly but surely starting to lose her.
Still she answered. "Over two years. I found her as a baby in the forest." Now that surprised him. "That long? Well it's no wonder. Final question Frisk. When did Eve start seeming 'sick?" The answer was so obvious, and Max himself mentioned the diagnosis ages ago.
"When we got to Snowdin, Eve was always really cold. She was a little better when you let me give her a sweater, but she started getting worse when she came here." All the pieces were in place.
The pokemon nurse was actually feeling a little silly for not figuring it out sooner. "Don't you worry little buddy. I know exactly what's up with Eve. Like I said, she's not sick. In fact, she's healthy as can be."
Eve, pounced onto her trainer, nuzzling her cheek. "So then what's causing her dizzy spell." He opens his mouth, that grin still there on his face. But before he could say anything, the doors to his center slam open, making both him and Frisk jump.
"Hey nerd!" Max found himself annoyed, his eye twitching as a regular to his center rushes in. "The hel-heck you doing all the way out here~" Grabbing Frisk to give her a noogie. All previous tensions from their last meeting pretty much forgotten.
Which was somewhat relieving for Frisk. Now if only her hair didn't have to suffer for it. "Arceus-dam-er darn it Undyne. I told you-I put signs up-No running or screaming in the center!" A sigh escapes the male as his headache comes back with a vengeance.
He should've known it was only a matter of time before she showed up. Since this was the closest pokemon center to the gym leader's house, the woman practically lives here with how often she sends her pokemon(and others') to get healed up.
Much to his frustration. "Oh can it Bugerpants. Carrie told me it was only her and like two other people who are around needing you to take care of their pokemon. Chill out." His eye twitched, really not in the mood to deal with her.
Bad enough Carrie was here to rile him up, but now there was two of them! "That doesn't mean it's ok to just smash your way in! Last time you busted the door here. And last I recall, You're still paying for!" The two of them were so heated in their conversation that they don't notice two things.
One that an audience full of members from Tem Village was gathering at the entrance. And second that Frisk was slowly suffocating from Undyne squeezing her harder and harder throughout the conversation. On top of her hair resembling a rattata's nest.
But the suffocation was the bigger problem that no one was taking note of. "Eeeeveee!" It took the normal type pokemon screeching at the top of her lungs for both adults to stop-and then panic at the unconscious, blue faced trainer in Undyne's arms. "Oh shit!"
XxXxXXXxxXxXxXXxXxXxXxXxXxXxX
A small groan escaped her lips as black slowly turned to color. Her eyes squinted in the light as she finds herself laying down. "H-hey little buddy. Glad to see you up." Now blinking in confusion, Frisk turns her head, finding both Max and Undyne looking very nervous.
"Bout time you got up punk. If you weren't breathing you should have said something!" And to anyone, there was a very good reason for that. One only had to whisper the name 'Toriel' and chills far colder than Snowdin's climate would shoot down their backs.
And for these two adults, allowing the elder woman's adopted getting hurt-nearly dying because they were arguing...well that spelled a death sentence far worse than any nightmare a ghost type pokemon could come up with.
Immediately the orange wearing nurse gives Undyne a deadpanned expression. "What? Got something to say Burgerpants." With another sigh and shake of his head, he approaches his newest patient's bedside.
"How are you feeling?" When she gives him the thumbs up, he could only deflate in relief. "Good. Was worried for a minute there." The brunette tilts her head in confusion. "What happened?" Despite the fact that suffocating was a slow and very painful way to go, it didn't take long for Frisk to pass out.
Being a little kid with still developing lungs along with Undyne's insane strength left her in a situation where the last thing she remembered was getting noogied. "Ah-nothing to worry about! Now Burgerpants mentioned that you wanted to ask me something?"
At that Max raises an eyebrow. Did she really think he was going to let her play this off? If Toriel finds out about this, yeah they were dead, but hiding it? And she finds out? The consequences would be ten times worse. Still he glances towards his friend's direction.
"Are you sure you want her to help you little buddy?" Trouble usually comes in threes. The first time, Frisk was emotionally traumatized, the second time she was almost physically killed. The third time didn't promise good results...
But he saw her nod her head, looking more awake and determined than a few minutes ago. Usually he would just let things play out as they deem fit. He was busy enough as it was taking care of pokemon all over the Underground.
Babysitting a kid, even a good one, didn't sound like a good way to spend his time. However most kids weren't like Frisk, not only did he owe her for helping in Snowdin, but he genuinely liked her, and started seeing her as a little sister.
Plus he didn't trust Undyne with her record. "Alright. Well, I think I'm off the clock for an hour or two, so I think I'll be coming with ya. Just gotta make a phone call first." His self esteemed sky-rocketed seeing Frisk's eyes twinkle in excitement.
"The hell you up to Burgerpants?" Seriously, cute kid. "Go ahead and ask her little buddy. I'll be just a second." As much as he liked Papyrus, he was currently nowhere to be found. Bob of course would probably help back him(wouldn't be the first time) but he was actually way more busy than he was...
All of those relatives of his were REALLY accident prone, so he was out. There was really no other option, no other person he could rely on at the moment to make sure the young underleague challenger makes it out of this training session in one piece.
So in order for Burgerpants to save his ass he needed to make sure everything was situated before the white haired she-demon finds out. But of course he isn't telling her upright. No he's going to Asriel. He won't freak out as bad, and will have the right words to tell Toriel.
"Come on man...pick up." And even if not, he'll have the time to hide away at another center. When Sans had asked him to watch over his little assistant, he never expected so much chaos. But...this was still way better than when he was a teen and dealing with his old boss.

Author Notes: I love Max-aka burgerpants so much. Especially with what I've done with him in this series. Being part of Undyne's age group and tackling the underleague sounds like a scary thing lol. Imagine all of the destruction with the red haired menace
Sen: You did the underleague?
Mako: What-no. Undyne.
Sen: You gotta admit that was a good joke~
Mako: ...wasn't bad. But anyways that is it for now everyone. Thank you so much for reading(and waiting) if you like this series please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a crap ton to us. Tchao for now.
