Hi, so this is my first story for this pairing and I have to admit I am liking it so far so let's see where it goes! I hope you all enjoy this story and this chapter.
Leah is criminally underused and criminally treated. She's the Rosalie of the Wolf Pack. Seriously the shit that she goes through because she's not skipping at the idea of being Emily's maid of honour (and seriously what the fuck possessed Emily to ask that? Like seriously Stephanie). So this story is a love letter to Leah.
I also have a huge amount of respect for Embry's Mom. Not sorry. Also I know she has a different name in the books to here but here she is Layla and she was seventeen when she got pregnant.
Also on Embry's father...I know a lot people assume it is Joshua Uley but somehow that seems to nice and neat, I also think it's pretty ironic, that both Jacob and Quill end up being friends with a kid who might be their half brother. So my views on Embry's Dad is that is has to be one of them and I do tend to lead towards Billy just for reasons I can't name. The council bit deciding whose parents should know and who doesn't is my own and I know it does not correlate with the books but then again this whole story is AU so (shrugs), I just think it's a fun angle to explore that everyone is terrified with who Embry's father could be.
Again, all of this is my own design, the characters belong to someone else, I am just playing in my writers box.

A First Time For Everything
Chapter 12-And So We Commence
It's a race to get Bella to give birth. Embry in the aftermath reaches his breaking point. But it is not over yet. Slightly Shorter Chapter.
They raced to get Bella upstairs but there were no words for what was happening next. Even Embry who had a high tolerance for horror had to admit that there were no words for this.
First the spine went. Then the blood vessels in her eyes popped and when Rosalie shoved her to the side so that she didn't choke on her own blood Bella ended up vomiting it all down him. All down his chest and down his jeans and onto his bare feet. Embry blinked in shock, feeling the warm blood hit him and he turned suddenly and puked in the corner of the nice Doctor's office, the one with the giant cross where he called his mother every day to let her know that he was alive and vice versa.
Well…this was going to win him lots of brownie points of that he could tell.
"GET HIM OUT" Bella screamed and then suddenly Jacob was throwing Blondie, Rosalie (he may as well start calling her by her name considering all that they had been through at this point he supposed) out the room. He didn't know what had happened, things were moving too fast for him, moving too fast because he didn't know what was happening, he couldn't get his brain to move with his body even as Edward suddenly grabbed the shiny scalpel and dug it into his wife's belly. He dragged it down and Embry who had never wanted to be a medical professional suddenly understood why his instincts had always told him that this was not a career path that he was interested in. He thought that he had seen horror when they had taken on those newbie vamps. That was nothing compared to this.
That was a walk in the park compared to this.
Bella screamed again and then she went silently still and Embry backed away. He was sixteen, he was not ready for this, he was not ready for this at all, he was tired and he was aching and he was raw emotionally and he was desperate to go home, to go to bed, to sleep in his own bed and not wake up, to get the smell of bleach out of his nose, to go downstairs and find his Mom there making coffee and pancakes. He wanted life to go back to how it was. He wanted to be with Leah and he wanted—he wanted out.
"Em?"
"Jake?"
Jacob was there and he stood in front of Embry blocking out Edward from view which was in reality a good thing because Embry did not know how he would have reacted if he had seen Edward Cullen use his teeth to cut his baby out of his dead wife's body.
"Brother?"
"Jake"
"You good?"
Embry shook his head from side to side as Jacob ever the big brother clapped both hands around his face and neck. Who knew maybe Jacob was his brother after all and this proved it? Or maybe he was just Jake being a good alpha. He didn't know. He didn't think he wanted to know. He wanted to go home, he wanted to go and find Leah and let her take care of him, Leah, his Mom, all of it, he should not have been doing this and the more he clung to that thought the more that it became harder and harder to breathe.
He couldn't breathe, he couldn't breathe, he couldn't…
"Shit" he heard Jake say dimly from a long way away. His wolf wasn't panicking anymore, wasn't trying to claw it's way out of his body, his wolf was silent, submissive, docile even and Embry was panicking unable to get any air in.
Panic attack.
That was what it was called. A panic attack.
Dimly he realised that the good Doctor might be rubbing off on him.
"Shit, Embry" Jacob said from a long way away and then Embry was aware that someone was smacking him. It did very little to warn off the panic but he did manage to get a couple of good breaths into his lungs and then Jake was forcing him to breathe, he had grabbed both his hands and made him cup his own face in them in a move that was one hundred percent of some tv show that they had both watched when they were kids, Embry didn't mind however, he knew that it was working when he felt the air enter his suddenly starved lungs and he knew that he needed to get out of this room, out of this house, out of his life.
He was just afraid that if he did he was going to transform and then once he transformed he was sure that he was going to start running and if he started running then he wasn't sure where he was going to end up and—
"Jacob shut him up and get over here, I need you"
"Fuck you, you ignorant monster"
"Jacob—the baby—"
"THROW IT OUT THE FUCKING WINDOW"
But before Embry could respond or Jacob, Blondie was there taking the baby and before Embry could dimly realise that despite everything it appeared Bella Swan had given birth to a baby he was out of the room before the scent of blood could gag him. He darted past Jacob, down the stairs, towards the door, towards fresh, un-vampire air smelled like freedom and he tripped on the decking going flying face first into the grass.
For a second he lay there in the dirt breathing in the smell of grass and dirt and trying not to vomit and then he felt someone gripping his shoulder turning him over and he felt hands that were smaller and softer run down his body as if checking for options. He could smell that light musky floral scent that he had come to love and he could hear that someone was calling his name and he knew who it was as well and so with a superhuman effort he focused on that voice and those hands and that smell and he opened his eyes to see Leah her face white and her hands trembling from where they were on his chest watching him.
"Hi" he said and her hand came up to cup his cheek and then came back wet and sticky with blood.
"Not mine" he said though that was hardly the point. She knew that it wasn't his. She knew it. She knew that it wasn't his the same way he did. Because Leah was smart and she knew what had happened in that house and suddenly he was sobbing, screaming even because Bella Swan was dead, there was a baby that had been born, Jacob was going to go mad, was going to kill said baby and there was nothing that he could do about it. They had been racing the clock for so long trying to get here that he had not considered what would happen after. He had not known what would have happened but it was not this, he had never envisioned this.
There were no words for this.
Leah sat down on the grass curling her knees under her and she took his whole upper body in his arms and rocked him as if he was a child who'd had a bad nightmare. Embry clung to her as if she was the only port in the storm, as if she was the only thing in the world keeping it going which to be fair right now she was. He closed his eyes against the onslaught of images that were playing out in his head and he clung to her arms, her elbow, he buried his head somewhere between her chest and her neck trying not to see the botched C-Section and the way Edward had bent down over his wives stomach before Jacob had blocked it from view. He could hear Leah talking to Seth in sharp whispers and he saw Seth disappear into the trees and he looked up to see Leah now covered in blood and looking very unbothered by that fact smile at him.
"Sam's gonna have a couple of people watching tonight of that we were sure off. So close…well…we knew it was only going to be a matter of time. Seth has gone to double check. We don't need anymore surprises tonight. If it looks like all Is normal then all is going to be normal"
He could understand the rationality behind it but he couldn't understand anything else. It was like his brain wasn't working.
"She's dead" he said because she had to be and Leah nodded.
"I figured" she said looking up at the house and the light from it hit her own bloody face and made her cheekbones stand out all bright and prominent. "I figured that this was going to kill her, eighteen and her life was over the second she came to Forks"
"Jake—"
"Jake…you cannot stop Jake from what he is going to do now" Leah said looking back at him. "You can't. Your too precious for this world Embry, too precious to go and die for Jake's last crusade."
Embry turned to look at her and then he did something that was even by his own admittance, very, very stupid.
He kissed her.
It was soft and warm and his lips met hers and she opened them in surprise perhaps and he swept his tongue in past hers. He didn't have a whole lot of experience when it came to stuff like this, he had never had a slew of girls queuing at his locker for kissing, he felt impossibly young but she was Leah…she was beautiful and she was smart and she was strong and he was head over heels in love with her and he was kissing her sat in front of the vampire's front lawn covered in blood while his best friend (and for all he knew his brother) and the vampire were upstairs trying to save the girl that they both loved.
Leah let him plunder her mouth clumsily. She ran her hands through his hair and pulled him closer and she kissed back just as hungrily and he was all for letting her push him back on the grass but at the exact moment that he thought that it might be cool to see where this was going there was the sound of car tyres skidding and he knew the Doctor was back.
They broke apart as the blur that was Doctor Cullen ran upstairs and Embry turned watching him as he saw Jacob illuminated in the hallway. The Doctor didn't even look at him as he went upstairs but Embry was watching Jacob and not him and suddenly he saw something in Jake's face change, it was hard to pin point what it was but he saw it change and he opened his mouth to say something but then he was being gently dragged away by Leah her hand still on his face and he turned to look at her and he thought that it might be juvenile to say that he was almost blinded by her beauty.
Also it was suicidal to say that he was in love with her. Embry didn't know much about woman, but he knew that.
"Embry"
"Leah"
"You hear that?" she said suddenly and his declaration of…well…whatever it was, suddenly died on his lips as he heard what she had heard.
Loud and clear.
Wolves hearing was not as strong as vampires, but they all heard it suddenly. Seth coming out of the trees with no idea of what had happened, in wolf form heard it because he tilted his muzzle to the side and listened. Jacob was on his knees but he was not looking at the stairs anymore. He was looking at something in the living room just out of sight with an expression that was not out of place with being clubbed on the back of the head with something heavy.
But they heard it, that was the point.
They heard it.
A changing beat. A beating heart. A beating heart that was trying to out beat something that was sweeping through the blood, the bone, the tissue, the body repairing what had been destroyed along the way. Taking softness and turning it hard, taking fragility and making it rock solid.
Taking humanity and turning it into immortality.
A changing beat.
A changing heart.
And I might have a chapter coming up that does solve the Embry Dad mystery and might take place from the point of view of his mother...just giving you all fair warning.
Next Chapter-Bella becomes a vampire, Jake imprints, Sam strikes a deal, the wolves go home, Leyla Call decides to make an offering to a girl who reminds her too much of herself.
