Hello, so here I am again with another story again for Rosalie and Emmett a criminally underrated couple. This time we are in a New Moon setting for a smaller story of about 17 chapters all taking place from the Volterra arc. So yeah an AU but only a little bit.

(As if that makes a difference!)

A side note on the relationship with Alice. As I have previously stated as I grow older I find that I struggle with the character of Alice the most. I do see her actions sometimes as toxic and while I don't believe Stephanie intended for her to be written that way sometimes I just want to reach through the pages and shake the vampire until she understands certain things. This was a way of getting all of that out. If you love Alice and think she can do no wrong this might not be the best story for you. Her relationship with Rosalie and how she and Edward treat Rosalie is something I have addressed many a time throughout my fics and stories but I hope that you enjoy nonetheless. This is not intended to be an Alice bashing fic, this is just for me to have my say as an ardent Rosalie fan. For all Alice lovers out there I hope that you understand and I am hopeful that one day I will learn to re-like Alice again.

This is not one hundred percent cannon, if you are looking for word for word perfect scenes out of the book then I am not the author for you, this is my interpretation of these events.

There will be trigger warnings for this story and keep in mind a hell of a lot of swearing for what is in the books, also some interpretation on Rosalie and Emmett's past. This also might turn into an M Rated story depending on how I take it. Again something to keep in mind as we progress.

Some events might be missed from the book as well but the bare bones of it still remain.

Also spelling/grammar etc...not my strongest point. Again something to take note off.

Disclaimer-Nothing is mine.

Please Read and Review.

And on a side note, I like so many other Fanfiction Authors no longer receive notifications via email about reviews/PMs etc. So if you do send any it might be a while, if ever before I get back to you. Please keep that in mind for it is not intentional-If anyone has a fix please let me know.

Also this chapter is based more on the movie than the book, in the movie it all happens in the space of one night and so that's what's happening in this story. Rest of the time it should be a pretty even spread between the two.

And some TRIGGER WARNINGS for Bella's depression (seriously don't get me started on what that turns to in Eclipse) and Rosalie's past.

Also, there is something about Chelsea, her character and her actions and her gift that repels me, I know we do not get a lot of insight into her during the books or the film but when I hear about what she can do it turns my stomach. It really does remind me of cohesive control and so for Rosalie who has been in a relationship like that I could so see her taking this bitch on when it came to the battle in Breaking Dawn (movie and film). Again with Heidi.

And we have only five more chapters left! We have one more of Rosalie and then we will slip back to Emmett for a couple of chapters as the Cullen's return home.

Spheres Of Influence

Chapter 12-Pawns In The Game

Alice and Aro talk, a decision is made, a deadline is set. Otherwise known as Edward, Rosalie and the Volturi Part 3.

"We all die. The goal isn't to live forever. The goal is to create something that will" Chuck Palahniuk

Wordlessly Rosalie held out the phone. She didn't know what Alice was going to say or what she had saw but Aro took the phone and listened. She didn't know weather or not to listen. They had all heard about the vision of Bella as a vampire, it had been a fleeting thing that Alice had mentioned once upon a time in what felt like a world away from where they were now but she thought that if Alice who had gotten them into this mess could get them out of it then it would go a long way towards Rosalie not chucking her entire shoe collection over the river and into the sea.

Edward shot her a look mouth twisting in what might have been a smile at the direction her thoughts had taken but to be honest Edward was so miserable on a day to day basis that she had forgotten what a smile on him even looked like.

As soon as that thought crossed his mind his own smiled faded. Rosalie refused on principle to feel like a bitch.

Aro and Alice continued their muttered conversation. Aro seemed to almost mute his words. Even Edward seemed to have trouble picking apart the speed of the conversation that took place between the vampires over the phone.

Aro then passed the phone to her and turned back to Edward. Figuring it was impolite (and right now they really, really shouldn't push it) Rosalie hung up. Every bone in her body, every bit of marrow in her, every part of her was desperate to talk to her husband. It was like an ache had taken over her. She was surprised that she had not heard him down the phone and she wondered what Carlisle and Jasper and Esme had, had to do to get him to stay quiet so that he didn't fuck this up.

She knew Emmett, she knew him well…he was not the kind of man to stay silent while she, or anyone else was in danger. She knew that, she knew that with bells on.

What this was doing to him she simply couldn't think. She didn't dare to think,

Aro sighed rubbing his fingers together.

"To see what she can see" he said quietly. "Oh that would be a gift I would deeply love to have"

Ugh.

Now Rosalie might not like Alice very much at this moment in time, she might be responsible for this entire mess, they might fight like cats and dogs in a basket but there was no way in hell that Rosalie would ever see her sister condemned to such a fate as to be forced to serve this man.

Alice deserved better.

Woman worldwide deserved better.

Edward again shot her a side eyed look but then before Aro had turned from his deep contemplation back to her brother, he had turned his head away and his face was one of polite concern. Rosalie hurried to school her own face the same way. They must not give any outward appearance that they were ruffled as her mother had once said.

And to think…Rosalie had never thought she would need such a gift.

Ha!

"She sees this human, your Bella, as a vampire" Aro said finally. "She sees her changed, she says it is so clear that nothing could change it. The path has been set upon and is irreversible"

Bella hitched a wet breath weather in terror or joy Rosalie could not (nor did she want to) tell.

"You would have to mean it" Aro said to Edward suddenly. Rosalie turned to look at her brother and then she shook her head. She knew Edward, already the gears were turning in ways to keep Bella human. As if this was not enough, as if this entire thing was not enough. He had dragged them here, dragged them to this point and now he wanted to go and incur the wrath of these people again for something that Bella wanted anyway!

Do you not get it? Rosalie thought bitterly (and dare she say it a little desperately) Do you not get that she wants this? Do you not get that she wants to be one of us? Stop making decisions for her Edward she is a human being not a child. You owe her the right to make her own decision about her life going forwards. You owe her that, you know she will take you back, you are counting on it, give her what she wants, if you can't live without her as this exercise has proven and clearly she cannot live without you then give her what she wants. You owe the rest of us that. Please do not ask us to die because you fear a divine retribution that does not exist.

She did not know if Edward had heard her, she did not know if it was her words or the way that Bella was looking at him or that simply he could not see any other way out of the situation but finally he nodded. Rosalie did not know if Edward would do it or not but quite frankly she thought that if he did not she would bite the damn girl herself and put them all out of their misery. Hell after this point Carlisle would do it.

"You mean that?"

"If he doesn't" she said speaking into the silent, cavernous room and forcing Aro to look at her.

"I will"

There was a look between the two of them and Aro flicked his smile upwards. He looked at her like she was a piece of pretty ribbon at the fair, as if he was thinking of buying but didn't have the pennies to do so. Rosalie didn't like that look, she had been on the end of that look for a long time but she held her nerve.

"Very well" he said quietly. "You are free to go"

He turned around to speak instructions and Rosalie swallowed back venom unable to believe it. She turned to Edward but the send the danger was over Edward had flipped his eyes back to Bella and was staring at her as if she was a pint of human blood that he was being forced to gaze at. Bella was still staring into space.

God Rosalie hoped she was not losing it. Edward was already gone and if Bella went…well…while she could run this thing she didn't particularly want too if you know what she meant.

"Thank you Aro" she said politely seeing as she seemed to be the only one capable of speaking at the moment. "I will send your regards to Carlisle"

"Oh please do" Aro said clapping his hands together as if he was a child that had been promised a treat. "I do so look forwards to a time where my old friend and I can meet. If you don't mind my dear…would you stay until nightfall? Let us not ruin such a day of celebration for the human's upstairs"

Rosalie swallowed back down the venom and plastered on her best empty society girl smile.

"Of course Aro" she said jerking her head back at Edward who moved accordingly. "Thank you so much"

And then they were gone.

"Laying it on a bit thick weren't you?" Edward hissed but Rosalie shrugged. One thing that the Cullen's had all learnt from an America that was rapidly becoming a bygone age, was that politeness cost nothing and more than not tended to do the trick.

"Perhaps" she muttered as Dimitri who was leading them snorted with amusement or agreement or perhaps a bit of both.

"But manners don't cost Edward you know that"

This time Dimitri turned to her and grinned.

"You really should come and visit more often" he said with a boyish grin, "With my charm and your sarcasm we could be great friends"

"Happily married" Rosalie deadpanned showing her rings and Dimitri sighed loudly.

"Aren't they always" he lamented to the room at large and then there was the sound of footsteps and he grinned.

It took Rosalie's eyes a second to engage but then she saw what was coming and she knew that if she was human she would be sick all over herself. Edward closed his eyes as he carried on walking but he had seen it too no doubt and he was clearly trying to find a way to make sure that Bella did not but soon enough there was Heidi dressed in a mini skirt and a dark red v-neck. Rosalie hated her and she hated Chelsea on instinct both of them pimps for the prey in her mind but she was also a self admitted bitch and she therefore felt no guilt in thinking that Heidi did not need to wear a push up bra, in fact it simply made her look more like a trollop.

Clearly Dimitri didn't mind as she lead about thirty men, woman and children to their deaths and any kind of estimation that she had for him died.

Edward sighed again and they hurried up but they still didn't make it to the doors to the hotel lobby before the screaming started.

Dimitri left them there and Edward deposited Bella on the couch. She had realised no doubt what had happened and she had gone even whiter than they were. In fact she was looking rather grey.

"I think she's in shock" Edward said and Rosalie wanted to roll her eyes and say that that was what three times studying different forms of medicine over the years got you but the fact of the matter was that she was more shaken by what had happened than she cared to admit even to herself.

By now she was past wanting Emmett.

She was needing Emmett.

"Smack her then before she vomits" She said trying in vain to take her mind of her husband and Edward stared at her blankly for a second before Bella shook her head jerkily and gave a shuddering gasp as if she was taking air after coming up for water.

"I'm fine" she said and then she turned to look at Edward who was staring back and Rosalie uncaring of who saw her rolled her eyes to the heavens because seriously?

She may as well have been speaking to the stewardess on the empty plane wasn't she?

"I can hear you Rosalie" Edward said finally after Bella burst into tears threw her arms around him and then declared she was filled with happiness (the only saving grace was that she knew that it was a sick thought to have which Rosalie supposed was something.

"I know" she said sitting down and tossing her hair back on the couch. Giana was watching her like she was a dog misbehaving and Rosalie longed to throw her the finger but she was this…this close to getting out of this and she didn't think Carlisle would approve if she got herself killed over cheek.

"I…thank you" Edward said finally. "I…really Rosalie…"

"Thank Emmett" she said flatly. "He wants to mow you down with his jeep"

"I might let him" Edward said finally. "I am…it never…"

"Occurred that Alice might be wrong?"

"Yeah"

"And the rest of it?"

Carefully she did not say the world werewolves but Edward's face told her that he knew that it was a thing that he had to deal with.

Don't make her choose Edward, she will choose you but she will hate herself and quite frankly she's had enough misery for one lifetime.

Edward jerkily nodded but said nothing. If the God that Carlisle believed in and that Edward believed in and that Rosalie had a love hate relationship with at best was real and divine and gentle then He would make sure that Bella Swan stood her ground on this. That Edward would learn that watching someone's every move wasn't protection but stalking and then things could go back to the healthy normal way they were before.

Well…not that before was healthy or normal but you got the picture.

"How long?" she asked quietly.

"Three hours, can we get on the plane and then—"

"Then I will call Emmett"

"You think they know?"

"Oh yeah" she said finally thinking of Alice and her ways of seeing the things that shouldn't be seen.

"I just…I need to hang on a little longer"

She knew it, Edward knew it.

Once they were out of this city then she would call her husband. When they were done being pawns in the game then she would breathe again, and when she was in his arms she would allow herself to fall apart.

Before then not so much.

But they had survived this much and they had survived so far and so she brushed her hair back and she sighed watching Giana and she waited.

Counting down the seconds.

They had survived.

She could scare believe it.

And time, that thing that defined humanity and immortality, was once again, Rosalie's enemy.

But just for a little longer.

Just for a little longer.

And there you are, I hope you enjoy this chapter and I will bring you the next one sooner rather than later.

Next Chapter-Rosalie, Edward and Bella are on a plane, Rosalie calls Emmett.
