Legend vs Myth
Third Person POV
Alec stared at the massive form that was Hoopa Unbound in shock. How Daniel managed to forge a bond with the Djinn Pokémon was completely unknown to Alec, but his gaze soon hardened into grim determination. Looking towards Royal, the Vast White Pokémon gave him a nod.
"What's the matter, Alec? Weren't you going to defeat us? Has peace made you that much of a coward?" Daniel asked mockingly.
Alec glared towards his cyborg turned enemy while sheathing his sword. "No, I have every intention of defeating you. Like I did two years ago, except this time, I'll make sure to finish the job. Right after I defeat your new friend. Royal!" Alec shouted as he jumped into the air. Royal then quickly swooped beneath her Hero of Truth, catching him on her back before flying between Hoopa's legs and into the air as the massive Pokémon turned to track her.
Royal flew high into the air to gain some distance between herself and the mythical Pokémon. She had heard of its power from Ethan, who witnessed it summon several Legendary Pokémon, including the three Gods of Creation, though she assumed they were weakened vestiges of them. If it could control them, it was no surprise Arceus ordered its power be sealed. Now she had to fight one of them.
[Are you sure we can beat this thing?] Royal questioned in concern.
"Honestly, I don't know. But right now, it's not a matter of if we can beat it, but that we must beat it. Stop Daniel here and now before he can do more damage," Alec replied before giving Royal a determined look. "So, you with me on this?" he asked. Royal looked at Alec, then Hoopa, then back to her friend and nodded.
As this was happening, Hoopa opened a portal so Daniel could stand on his right shoulder. [It seems you were right. I had hoped he would listen to reason,] Hoopa commented to Daniel.
"Despite what Alec likes to think, he can be quite predictable. Especially in his morality. Take Reshiram down," Daniel ordered.
"Fusion Flare!" Alec ordered. Royal's tail shot out flames as Royal made a sharp right turn back towards Hoopa, a small ball of flames building up in front of her open maw before leaning her head back, the ball becoming massive in an instant while surrounded by two rings of fire, then firing it towards Hoopa.
"Dark Pulse," Daniel commanded calmly. Hoppa raised one of his many arms and fired the stream of dark rings at Royal's attack, blasting right though it and almost hitting the Legendary Dragon, but she managed to evade the attack in time as she began charging towards Hoopa.
"Get in close! Use his size against him!" Alec called out.
"Psychic!" Daniel ordered. Hoopa, instead of focusing on Royal, threw five buildings out of their foundations and towards the World Champion.
"Crap. Evade!"
Royal leaned sharply to the left, then to the right to dodge the first two buildings, then rolled past the third before gaining altitude to dodge the fourth. The fifth building, being too close to evade, which Royal blasted a hole through it with Focus Blast before diving through the hole, coming up almost face to face with the mythical Pokémon. Making a sharp left, Royal flew between two of Hoopa's arms before firing Blue Flare at Hoopa's unprotected back.
The mythical Pokémon roared in pain before attempting to backhand royal, which she managed to dodge. Hoopa then fired Dark Pulse towards Royal, which managed to graze her right wing. Royal let out a yelp of pain while also dropping her right side, which almost threw Alec off her back, but he managed to stay on by gripping one of the rings around her neck.
"Blue Flare, once more!" Alec commanded as Royal recovered, swinging himself around her neck and getting back onto her back. The legendary Pokémon came around and fired her attack right at Hoopa's front, who had formed a portal to get rid of the attack. Alec would later find out that this almost took out Mirko.
"Hyperspace Fury!" Daniel ordered. Multiple portals opened up around Royal as shadowy copies of Hoopa's massive arms came through them, hands clenched into a fist. Royal tried to dodge and successfully did so with the first couple, but as more and more continued to rain down, she was eventually hit. What followed was multiple hits on Royal's body, some even slamming into Alec when they came from behind, almost knocking the trainer out.
Once the arms moved away, Royal fell towards the ground dazed, Alec much the same way. Royal managed to recover first though, but being so close to the ground, she didn't have time to pull up completely, so instead skidded across the ground.
As she came to a stop, she looked back towards her trainer who was holding his head trying to recover. [Are you okay?] she asked, worry clear in her tone.
"Urgh. Been better. We'd better avoid that attack from here on out. Let's get back in the air," Alec told her, to which he got a nod in response as Royal spread her wings and took to the air once more, using her tail flames to get up to a higher altitude faster.
A few blocks away from where Royal almost crashed, Hoppa was staring right at them, with Daniel waiting for Alec to make his next move. The legendary Pokémon wasn't alone for much longer in the sky, as a few new helicopters flew around the area, trying to get good shots of the fight while also reporting the events to the public.
"Right now we are over the city center where as you can see, a massive creature has appeared. We don't have all the details yet, but what I can confirm is that the Pokémon visitor, Alec Kirkland, is here at the scene and is fighting the creature, which we believe to be a Pokémon," one of the new anchors reported, showing their footage across the country.
Alec saw the choppers and scowled in annoyance. "We'll have to be more careful now. We've got civvies in the skies all around us," Alec told Royal, who shared his annoyance. "Regardless, we still have to win. Dragon Pulse!"
Royal fired the multi-colored beam towards Hoopa, who countered with a Dark Pulse that resulted in a stalemate and creating a smokescreen. Alec used that opportunity, having Royal dive down beneath the smoke, her feet gliding across the street below, before making a sharp climb that brought her right up to Hoopa's head, much to his surprise.
"Fusion Flare!" Alec called out. Royal, having charged up the attack while climbing, fired the ball of flames right at Hoopa's head at point blank. The resulting explosion stunned Hoopa and almost threw Daniel off his the mythical Pokémon, but his mechanical arm grabbed onto Hoopa and kept him in place. Alec and Royal were blown back slightly from the blast, but thanks to Royal's typing and her taking most of the blast, both were relatively unharmed.
As Royal flew to put some distance between herself and Hoopa, the Dijnn Pokémon roared out in anger as the portal rings around his wrists detached and formed portals in front of his arms. Hoopa threw his arms though the portals, and they came out around the World Champion. Royal did her best to dodge the fists, even hitting two of them with a well timed Focus Blast which forced those hands away, but the others kept coming.
One then slammed Royal in the face, stunning her long enough for two fists to slam into her sides and one that hit Alec. The hand that hit Royal's head then came around and grabbed her tall before spinning her around and throwing her at one of the new choppers.
"Evade!" came the panic cry of one of the reporters before the tail of their helicopter was taken off by Royal's left wing.
As the helicopter spun towards the ground, Royal recovered before noticing the falling chopper, with Alec not far behind. "Swing beneath!" he called out.
Royal knew what he meant, and headed towards the falling aircraft. Alec then leapt off Royal's back and grabbed the top of the doorway opposite of the reporter and cameraman, then kicked the two out of the chopper where they were grabbed by Royal's talons. He then grabbed the side handle before he swung around to the pilot side cockpit door, grabbing the handle and ripping it open with a bit of effort. He then grabbed the pilot and yanked him out of his seat as he jumped back onto Royal's back as she came back around, the two other reporters still in her talons. She then flew low to the ground as the chopper slammed into a now evacuated building in a fireball, slowing almost to a complete stop so she and her trainer could drop off their rescues. The entire save took almost a minute.
As the three processed what just happened, Royal was already taking back to the sky. "He… he saved us?" the female reporter questioned, her green eyes filled with shock as she barely was aware of her black hair falling in front of her face.
Back in the sky, Alec noticed two things. The first was that the news choppers were now giving the fight more space after what just happened, and the second was a Dark Pulse heading right at him.
Royal saw it as well and managed to avoid the worst of the attack, but a bit did graze her tail, causing the legendary to let out a yelp of pain. However, she didn't let this stop her. Flying higher into the air, she was soon positioned to send out another attack.
"Fusion Flare!" Alec called out. Royal formed the fire ball in front of her mouth and fired it towards Hoopa, who countered with Shadow Ball. The two attacks collided creating a brief explosion, but soon Fusion Flare came out of the explosion and slammed into Hoopa, causing the massive fireball to engulf the Mythical Pokémon.
As the smoke started to clear, two buildings were pulled out of the ground and thrown towards Royal and Alec. The white dragon managed to dodge both buildings then charged towards her opponent, firing a Dragon Pulse at him. Hoopa responded by firing another Shadow Ball, but Dragon Pulse hitting him caused it to miss and slam into a building.
Alec looked towards Hoopa and saw that the mythical Pokémon was wounded. "I have to finish this now. Royal can't keep this up," he thought as he examined Royal's condition. The Vast White Pokémon admittedly wasn't faring much better than Hoopa, with scraps and minor burns across her body.
"Let's finish this, Royal. Give this next attack everything you've got. Blue Flare!" Alec shouted. Royal's tail started shooting out heat and flames and a large amount of blue fire formed in her mouth as she flew above Hoopa. All around the battle, the reporters still watching could also feel the power the Legendary Pokémon was producing. One would later comment that it was even hotter than Endeavor's highest recorded attack.
"Dark Pulse!" Daniel called out, seeing the power Reshiram was about to release. Hoopa managed to fire his attack the same time Royal unleashed Blue Flare. Blue flames met dark rings as they clashed in the sky, until Royal's attack punched through Dark Pulse and slammed into Hoopa Unbound. The resulting explosion threw around every helicopter in the sky around and destroyed several buildings.
The news reporters filming everything looked in a mixture of shock and fear as they tried to find out if the giant creature was taken out or if Kirkland and his dragon were instead. When the smoke started to clear, Royal was seen flapping her wings in the air. At a distance, she looked fine, but Alec riding on her back could tell she was exhausted after that. Not surprising, Hoopa was a difficult Pokémon to beat.
Still, the World Champion wasn't letting his guard down. He had seen weaker Pokémon come back from similar sized explosions. He turned out to be right, but not in the way he was expecting, as multiple portals opened up around him as Hoopa unleashed Hyperspace Fury, slamming into both Pokémon and trainer multiple times before one hand grabbed Royal by the tail and threw her down to the ground with a large crash that tore apart the round and flung Alec from her back.
The human landed almost half a block away from Royal, his body in agony from the attacks he took. As he tried to stand up again, he noticed Hoopa opened up a portal in which Daniel stepped out. His cloak was all but destroyed from the attack, which had the side effect of fully revealing his mechanical arm, which went all the way up to his shoulder. As he stepped towards Alec, he kicked the trainer across the face, knocking him onto his back and Daniel placed a foot on his chest.
Then, to Alec's surprise, Daniel started to laugh. Not manically, but more out of amusement which was the real confusion. "You really haven't changed. I've missed our little engagements over the past two years. Honestly, I haven't had that much excitement in my blood since you almost killed me," Daniel commented.
Alec tried to push Daniel off him, but his arms couldn't muster the strength required to do so, and it didn't help that the cyborg kept grinding his foot into his chest, which caused the pain to flare up. "Why… Why are you doing this, Daniel? Why come to this world? Just to fight me?" Alec questioned.
"Is that why you think I'm here?" Daniel asked, his amusement fading into curiosity before turning serious. "Admittedly, I am in the mood for a little payback for what happened last time we fought, but that was after I found out about this world. When I discovered this world, it reminded me so much of home and I thought to myself, "What if I could use this world as an… experiment, of sorts?" To figure out if my ideals would work. But then I realized that it would have just been boring to fight the locals. Most really aren't that special compared to Pokémon, so I figured I should give myself a challenge. That's where you, and Necrozma came in."
Alec stopped resisting as he realized what Daniel said. "This was all you? The disruption in Ultra Space? Finding a Lunala and taking it over? How many more must be hurt because of your ambition?!" Alec shouted as he tried resisting Daniel with a renewed vigor.
Before Daniel could respond though, he was surprised by a kick from the side coming right at his face from a wounded, but still fighting Mirko as she kicked the cyborg in the face and sent him flying back towards the still open portal. Hawks then landed next to Alec and helped him up, supporting him in standing. "You alright?" Hawks questioned.
"I've been better, I'll admit," Alec replied, glaring towards Daniel, whose expression wasn't seen due to his mask, but he did hear a sigh come from him.
"Seems that this little event is over," Daniel said before tapping a button on his cybernetic arm. Suddenly, the Team Terror members around them, all unconscious, had their heads explode from the micro bombs placed in them. Mirko was shocked at the event, Hawks less so, but Alec merely closed his eyes in defeat as he realized Daniel was going to get away and there was nothing he could do about it.
Daniel then stepped back into the portal, vanishing somewhere else as Hoopa and the remaining Team Terror members entered other portals around the city. Mirko finally snapped out of her shock as she realized too late what had happened.
"Damn it! That guy got away!" she shouted in annoyance before collapsing to her knees as her wounds caught up with her.
"Mirko!" Hawks shouted in concern as he went to check on his fellow hero. Alec, now able to stand on his own two feet, though barely, he walked, well, limped was probably a more accurate term, over towards Royal who was laying on the ground not far away.
"Royal? Can you hear me?" the trainer asked, his tone soft as he pressed a hand to Royal's snout.
The white dragon opened her eyes slightly, her pure blue gaze meeting the amber of her trainer. [I am sorry, my hero. I have failed you,] Royal told him as she hung her head in shame.
"You didn't fail me, Royal. I just wasn't ready for a fight like this. You gave it everything you had," Alec told her as he pulled out her ball. "Just rest for now. You've earned it," he added, the red beam connecting with Royal's body as she returned to the safety of her ball.
With Royal back in her ball, Alec went to check on the two heroes that had been a lot of help. "Are you two okay?" he asked them.
Mirko smirked as she looked up at the trainer. "You kidding? I haven't had that much fun in a fight in a while. Just a bit of rest and I'll be back in the fight," the rabbit hero said confidently.
"You don't look so good yourself however," Hawks commented with a light smile, though Alec could tell he was a bit put off by what just happened.
"I've been through worse than this. Give me a few days rest and I'll be back to normal," Alec told him.
Hawks then looked around at the dead members of Team Terror with a frown. "Still, I don't understand why that cyborg killed everyone?" he questioned.
"Back when I fought them, in order to keep information out of our hands they decided to rig everyone with a dead-man-switch. Most didn't even know of it until it was too late, and that whole thing made gathering information about their operations difficult. Still, we should make sure everyone…" Alec started when he and Hawks both noticed something. One of the grunts was standing up. A woman if her figure was anything to go by.
"Looks like one didn't work," Hawks noted, drawing one of his bladed feathers and charging at the woman, who noticed Hawk's fast approach.
She rolled beneath Hawk's strike and pulled out a Pokéball from her belt. "Delphox, go!" she shouted, her voice muffled by the mask.
The ball opened to reveal a bipedal fox that stood just shy of five feet with fur that resembled robes that were primarily dark red with red-orange, flame-like markings near its knees, and a thin tuft of white fur on its torso, flanked by yellow fur draping down from its shoulders. Its forearms feature long red fur resembling sleeves, and its hands and feet are dark gray with three clawed fingers and toes, respectively. A tail covered in yellow fur protruded from the rod-like fur, with its head also having yellow fur with longer white fur on its cheeks, with red eyes and a slender snout with a pinkish nose, and three tufts of red-orange fur protruding out of each ear.
"Psychic!" she called out as Hawks came around for another attack, but was held in place by the attack. Mirko, seeing this, tried to join the fight, but her body failed her, forcing her to stay on the sidelines as Alec grabbed one of the pistols on the ground and pointed it right next to the woman's head.
"Let him go, right now, or there will be consequences," he ordered. The woman stiffened at his words and Delphox looked back towards the world champion. At first, there was hostility in her eyes, but upon seeing him, her expression softened, much to Alec's surprise. Though when he looked at Delphox, he couldn't help but recognize her. But from where?
The woman turned to look at Alec with her hands up and uttered one word. "Victory."
Alec's eyes widened as he recognized what she said. "Justice," he responded, lowering the pistol as the woman lowered her arms. She then nodded at Delphox who released Hawks.
"Okay, am I missing something here?" the number three hero questioned.
"That's one way to put it. During the Terror War, we got lucky and managed to capture one of their members after their failsafe bomb failed to go off. Checking everything about him, we found out he took a certain drug that had a neutralizing agent to the chemical compound used in the explosives. After careful study, we managed to replicate the effects without resorting to drug usage, which allowed us to more safely plant spies among Terror's ranks," Alec explained to Hawks before looking at the woman. "What I want to know though, is who are you?" he questioned.
"You really don't recognize me? Even though the mask I figured I would sound familiar," she started, sounding annoyed for some reason, which soon became clear when she pulled off her helmet to reveal an all too familiar face to Alec. "I thought Delphox would have been a dead give away as well. But I guess when you ignore me for two whole years even your family will forget what you look like," she continued as blonde hair that was the same shade as Alec's fell just past the woman's shoulders and she opened her eyes to reveal bright blue eyes.
"Still, it's good to see you again, brother," she said as Alec uttered her name, his eyes showing his complete shock.
"Serena?"
I almost didn't do it, but I managed to get a chapter out this month. Yeah for me! And the reveal of Alec's sister has been revealed. I'm guessing a good portion of you already figured it out, but here is the confirmation. But of course, I'm sure you have a lot of questions about what's going on between the two, but that will have to be next time. Hope you all enjoyed.
Next time: Serena
