Life is a Bitch

A listless night, a dreary night.

A starry sky above Tokyo, A flock of Doves below.

Unbeknownst to the Mother and Daughter, they are being observed.

It's quite a reputation that follows being a physical manifestation of an archfiend, as what follows also has a physical manifestation of its own.

Hunter and the Hunted.

I could ramble on and on, through the idioms and quotes on the philosophical and physical struggle between the two, but that is never in question. So to cut the gist of it, the question always lays on one thing,

Who truly is at peril here?

Then we'll truly know.

"Dove 1-2, One-Actual. Sit-rep."

The job of a CCG member is never unexciting, but at nights like these who can blame anyone to bring it into question, barring those outside of the occupation of Ghoul Investigator or the unfortunate sections of Bureau Investigators called to arms, the so called "Doves".

They can never understand until they've gone on nights like these, the dull atmosphere a mere veil for the tension teetering on a knife's edge.

Origins of the name for the Agents of the CCG, came from the Organizations Seal.

Said organization founded upon the repression of Ghoul activities and Incidents. Done so with such zeal, a Political Officer would blush.

And through the Central Vein of this Office, the tributaries allow for its Agents to focus on their zealous work.

Said enthusiasm can come in many forms of course.

"One-Actual, 1-2. I smell like shit, nothing visually. Out."

"Hahaha Don't worry about it Yasumoto. It'll be the least of your Worries, should anything unexpected happen."

"… Please don't jinx it sir….." Kusaba pleaded to Mado.

"1-2, One-Actual, copy. Keep eyes out, don't want anybody unexpected to ruin our—"

"One-Actual, hold…"

Movement he thought, a figure atop the scaffolding at the periphery of his vision.

"Sir, I couldn't get a proper fix on it. But I thought I saw something up top of the Building across you. The one with the scaffolding."

"The one with glass panels installed?"

"The one on the left sir."

"Inspector Mado, see anything?"

Mado, providing overwatch.

Leant over the railing at the side of a building. Keeping low enough to not be seen, had a grin widening ever so slightly each passing moment.

"Sir? You—"

"This is about to get interesting."

"Sir. Do you see anythi—"

"Calm Amon, eyes peeled. Keep observing 723."

Amon about to press for details, reluctantly acquiesced in favor of keeping focus on the objective, following the plan.

Said plan was to observe a Lady and her Daughter for days, keeping at a certain distance.

Far enough to not garner attention, close enough to take note of those she came into contact with.

On the fourteenth day, they all got ready. They finally had the pattern down pat, it seems that for every week the family of two would visit a certain café, at same time of day, going down the same route from their temporary lodgings wherever and whenever they felt like moving to next every 3 days.

They were careful, but not too careful. It was easy to follow the trail, they never strayed too far from the place they've never failed to visit…

Their mistake.

- 3:30 a.m.-

"Quite an interesting predicament we have here."

The night lights of Tokyo, never fails to rival those across its seas. Whilst having a unique flare of its own, even the sight of Shibuya being as crowded as ever even in such an ungodly hours is a sight of its own.

"Now…"

A mischievous grin occupied his shadowy visage under the hood….

"Where were we?"
