When World's Collide, There's Gonna Be A Bang!

Got chapter one finished, finally. Life got in the way and I've had trouble even getting time to be at the computer these past couple of months. This Chapter's Challenge Prompt was titled: Chaos!

"Excuse me, sir. Mind if I have a look inside that pet carrier?" The young security guard asked him. He seemed generally unconcerned, almost bored, as though he felt he had better things to be doing, "We had a report of suspicious behavior."

Kurogane turned when the man spoke, controlling his facial expressions so that he wouldn't look guilty or worried, "Sure, knock yourself out.", he said calmly, turning the pet carrier so that the security officer could look inside. This guy was just a tiny pipsqueak. If push came to shove, he could totally take this pipsqueak on, but for Sakura's sake he kept his cool and refused to allow his emotions to show, though he wasn't so sure that Sakura would be able to uphold this principal at the current moment. He could see in her eyes that she was loosing her cool, though he could hardly blame her after all she had been through.

Sakura suppressed a tiny bit of worry as she watched things unfold. A thousand different scenarios ran through her head. Surely Mokona didn't look enough like a dog for the man to believe them. Surely this man would see right through it and they would be arrested. Surely nothing good could happen right now in this current moment. Her thoughts subsided as she looked over at Kurogan. He looked so calm...As though he knew it would work out well in the end. Either that or he just knew he could win a fight against the security guard should anything arise.

Mokona, on the other hand, was not perturbed in the slightest by the situation. He had seen dogs before in Tokyo and he knew precisely how to act like one. In fact, he even recalled a time when Fai had acted like a dog to tease Kuro-Tan. He put his tiny hands on the ground and bent his feet so that it looked like he had four legs, cause that's how many legs a dog had. He let out a couple of very convincing dog-like whines when he saw the man's face appear in front of the door to the pet carrier. He wagged his tail in a puppy-like fashion and pretended to pant happily with his arms up by his head while sat up on his feet in the perfect begging position.

The security guard peered into the pet carrier with a slight bit of intrigue. What could possibly be inside it that would frighten people enough that they felt it should be reported. His mind went immediately to a giant snake and he wished his boss had been a bit more specific when he'd told him to go and investigate the "suspicious animal" inside the pet carrier.

He was very relieved when he saw the tiny, dog-like creature wasn't a dangerous animal. The tiny creature looked more like a rabbit than a dog with the large ears and the cleft in it's nose. It was tiny, cute, and covered with a layer of soft, white fur. It was absolutely adorable, if he was to be honest. When the little dog let out the tiny whimper and started to wag its little tail in the cutest little beg his heart melted a tiny bit and he let out a slight "awww." despite himself.

"What a cutie.", he complimented, more to himself than the other two.

"So, what's the problem, then?", Kurogane asked calmly, though his voice held a slight hint of his usual impatience and irritation at this type of hold-up.

"Oh, there's no problem. It's fairly obvious now." , the guard told him, "Somebody reported hearing a voice coming from inside this pet carrier or something along those lines and thought you may have a child in here. Ridiculous, of course, but you'd be surprised the things we see." The man said with a slight chuckle and was completely talking out his ass as usual, "Anyways, have a nice day!" he chimed cheerily as he walked away from the pair. It was a completely ridiculous excuse, but the two of them seemed to have bought it. Truthfully his boss hadn't even told him anything remotely of that nature.

Kurogane and Sakura exchanged looks of slight confusion for a minute before Sakura got a horrified look on her face,

"A child in a cage? How awful." she said and her horror was apparent in her voice.

Kurogane simply laughed, but then he stopped himself for fear he might offend her. He had no idea how he should act around Sakura and kept obsessing over it, so he decided to change the subject before things could get awkward, even though he knew things were only awkward because he had made them that way in his mind. He was a flippin' warrior for god's sake, surely he could talk to a stupid girl and not falter!

"Are you hungry, Princess?", he asked, hoping it would serve to change the subject.

Princess? He wasn't exactly sure what to call her by, since they hadn't actually spoken to each other too much. He had settled for calling her princess, since that's what Syaoran had called her, but then again, Mokona called her Sakura, while Fai called her both. He smiled at himself a tiny bit. Why was he obsessing over this so much? It was stupid, he was stupid. Ugh! Why couldn't he just talk to her?

Sakura smiled a bit when he called her Princess. They had only known each other a short time, but surely he didn't have to use the formality. She couldn't remember being a princess, though everyone had told her she was one. Her memories consisted of their time in Hanshin and she certainly hadn't been in a Palace during that time or ruling over her subjects. Since she couldn't remember being a princess and she knew only this life as a simple person, perhaps he should call her Sakura instead. All of this obsessing over one simple thing...She heaved a slight sigh and turned back to Kurogane.

"I suppose I could eat." she smiled, "And, Kurogane..." she hesitated slightly, a light blush forming on her cheeks, "You can call me Sakura from now on if you want.", her blush deepened as she finished speaking. It seemed silly to be so embarrassed about something so simple and she couldn't figure out why she was blushing, which only served to make her more red.

Kurogane smiled at her hesitation and the slight blush that formed on her cheeks. It appeared that she felt just as uncomfortable and awkward around him as he felt around her. "Well, Sakura, what kind of food smells...the best to you?" Smells the best? Oh, brother.

The Security Guard, his name tag read Randal, meandered through the crowd with an unending sense of boredom. Nobody seemed to be doing anything noteworthy which was, of course, a good thing, but he couldn't help that a tiny part of him longed for something interesting to happen...

"Raawwwrrr!" Onyx didn't seem very impressed with the fact that he was no longer in his pokeball. Having been materialized in between two rows of chairs where there was obviously not enough room, the sudden appearance of Onix's large body sent a few chairs flying while many others were simply crushed under his enormous bulk. The laws of physics were rarely kind to those who chose to defy them. He extended himself up to his full height and looked around desperately for his trainer. When he couldn't find Brock, Onix let out yet another loud call to voice his frustration and worry.

Brock was both stunned and horrified when the pokeball that was supposed to contain Vulpix shockingly turned out to be Onix instead. Being a professional trainer, however, he maintained composure and, raising the pokeball, he commanded firmly, "Onix! Retur...", his command was interrupted when a panicking bystander bumped into him, causing him to drop the pokeball and sending it rolling across the floor of the terminal. Brock dove to the floor after the pokeball, but was too late to catch it as it fell and it simply kept rolling. He crawled across the floor after it in desperation as he tried to get his hands on the only thing that could, quite literally, contain the situation.

Hearing the loud roar coming from somewhere to his left, Inuyasha's mind instantly went to the assumption of Demons and he prepared for battle. As he turned to face the sound the sight that met his eyes was unlike anything he had seen before. A large creature, though not overly large as demons go, its body composed entirely of large boulders. How could this be? A living creature composed of rocks? Rocks sure as hell weren't supposed to do that! Rocks were rocks, inanimate, dead, unmoving, yet this thing was obviously alive. Not only alive, but extremely pissed off, it seemed.

Whatever the hell this creature was, he sure as hell wasn't going to let it destroy the place or hurt these innocent people. He extended his claws to their full length and started running toward the creature, losing his hat along the way and leaving Kagome to simply stand by and watch him rush away to battle, "Come on, Kagome! Don't just stand there like an idiot!", he shouted as he ran.

Kagome rushed after her Half-Demom annoyance with a strong sense of unease and a tad bit of anger, as per the norm when they were getting ready to fight. He always treated battle as though it were nothing, a total normality. She hated his reckless personality.

Somehow she felt this fight was different. This creature, whatever it was, had seemingly appeared out of thin air as though it had been summoned by someone. She decided not to dwell on it for now and to just run off and help Inuyasha as usual, only she didn't have her bow, so helping in a fight would take some creativity on her part.

As she followed after her half-demon, a different worry came into her mind. Not only had he rushed off, fangs bared, in the middle of a crowded airport, but his cap had also fallen off. Anyone who looked at him could see his ears. Her mind flooded with worry and rage as she thought of what might happen if somebody noticed him. These thoughts were wiped from her mind in a split second as she threw herself to the ground in an attempt to dodge a flying chair. Perhaps they wouldn't notice him after all if this giant boulder kept destroying the place.

Hauling herself up again she eyed the scene trying to find some weakness or small detail which could help them defeat the creature or contain the situation.

Upon hearing the commotion, Kurogane started to spring into action. He couldn't see what was happening from his vantage point, but he could certainly tell that something was wrong. The sound of breaking furniture and screaming people was enough to make him feel he needed to go and kick some ass. His body flooded with adrenaline as he readied himself for battle, same as he had done many times before. The sounds of the creature were reminiscent of the monsters he had fought back in his home in Japan and he knew all too well the destruction they could cause. He had been charged with the protection of his people and this often meant going out and destroying monsters.

He was about to open the pet carrier so that he could ask Mokona for his blade and be his normal, reckless, impulsive self, but he froze mid-action when he caught sight of Sakura's face. Her face was painted with a look of fear and confusion. She was looking at him in anticipation, as though she wanted to know what was happening. What exactly was it she was expecting from him, anyway? Was she expecting him to stay there and protect her? For him to sit there and hold her hand? Perhaps not that precisely, but it was something along those lines probably.

He heaved a sigh as he realized what he had to do. When Fai and Syoaran were around, he could go off and be as reckless as he pleased. He could just run off and fight and do whatever he wanted without caring about what happened to anyone else. Now, however, he was the only person there to protect Sakura. This realization had dawned on him, though perhaps he should have realized this a bit sooner. No matter how much he wanted to go off and fight some random monster in the middle of an airport, he knew he had to stay by her side and protect her. That it was probably his duty, or something like that.

Kurogane heaved a gentle sigh and handed Mokona's pet crate to Sakura so that he wouldn't have his hands full. He passed her a reassuring smile, as reassuring as he could manage. Assuming a defensive posture, he placed himself in front of Sakura in a position he felt would place himself between her and whatever danger they would be facing if the creature came this far down the terminal.

"Don't worry." he said reassuringly, turning to Sakura, "I'll protect you if anything happens."

Sakura was a bit surprised. He looked so odd standing there in that protective posture. She had only seen Syaoran act this way around her, but now Kurogane seemed to be filling the same role. She didn't know why they all seemed to act this way, nor could she remember why she was so important to all of them. Nonetheless she stood behind him, afraid to do anything else. She let his presence, his words, and his reassuring smile help to keep her calm, focusing on the back of his head as she cowered behind him. She was sort of disappointed with herself for being so weak and helpless, but what could she do aside from hide behind those who were stronger?

Kurogane felt sort of strange being so protective over this girl who was almost a complete stranger. He felt like a prince or hero from one of those stupid old stories. The sort who protected pretty maidens from terrible monsters whilst in the safety of the shadows. It wasn't his normal way of fighting, that was for sure. He always sought out the fight, he never sat around until the fight came to him or tried to avoid it entirely.

Hearing a commotion, Officer Jenny looked up from her magazine. She recognized the sound that was echoing through the terminal. It was a pokemon. By the sound of things it was in some real trouble. She could hear people screaming and things being smashed. Things obviously weren't going well for the poor thing.

Rising from her table she sprang into action. Years of training and experience in the field were edging her into a focused determination which always accompanied her work. She may not have been dressed in her usual uniform, but she wouldn't let these civilian clothes stop her from doing her job. When a pokemon was in trouble, Officer Jenny would always be there to help!

"Come on, Joy! A pokemon needs our help!" Jenny called, heroically to Joy who, to her surprise, had already risen and was well on her way toward helping the pokemon. With a slight shrug, Jenny rushed after Joy and the two of them raced toward the source of the panic.

Rounding a bend in the terminal's wide corridor, the two were shocked by the scene before them. Jenny nearly ran into Joy, who had stopped when she had seen the sheer and utter chaos that was unfolding within the terminal.

An Onix was loose in the airport, obviously in a panicked state, and had destroyed half of the chairs and tables in the terminal in its confusion. There were people hiding under tables, pinned beneath uprooted piles of chairs, running around frantically, screaming. The scene was like a miniature war zone or an area disheveled by a tornado. Jenny had cleaned up her share of messes left by rampaging pokemon, but where on earth had this Onix come from?

"What a mess.",Jenny remarked aloud as she pulled out her pokeball and pressed the button on the top to enlarge it, "Arcanine! I need your help on this one, bud!" As she said the command, an Arcanine materialized a few feet away from her. It was large and beautiful in the chaos of the terminal and its presence seemed to demand calm and collected behavior, not that anyone paid any heed to this. Some people stopped and turned to look at the new arrival to the terminal and they all wondered whether this one would go on a rampage as well.

"Now, Everybody listen up!" Jenny called in authoritative voice, "The situation is under control now and there is no need for anybody to panic." Not everyone heard her over the commotion that Onix was causing and they all seemed to just keep running around as though nothing had changed, "Listen!" Jenny tried again, but it was no use. If only she had a megaphone...

While Jenny went about trying to calm people down, Joy focused her attention on the Onix. She looked for any sign of why it might be acting this way, since most pokeon never attacked without a reason. The poor thing seemed practically frantic as it thrashed its body in odd motions quite uncharacteristic of an Onix.

First thing she looked for was a trainer, since the pokemon had to have come from somewhere, presumably a pokeball. Her highly trained eyes scanned the scene with a sharpness that most would not have guessed was behind her gaze. It took a minute or two for her to find the person she figured was the trainer. A man in a green/grey vest who was leaning against a row of chairs and scanning the floor around him with look of worry and regret. She couldn't see a pokeball in his hands, so she guessed that he must've lost it somehow or dropped it.

Next thing she looked for was the agitator of the situation. The reason for the pokemon's rash actions and agitated mood. She attributed some of this to the fact that the trainer was out of the pokemon's sight and wasn't giving any commands or guidance. This couldn't be enough, though, not to make a pokemon react so intensely to a situation. There had to be something else that was making this Onix so upset, but what could it be...

She gasped when she saw the problem. Another pokemon was attacking the Onix! Could this just have been a very rash and reckless battle that just got out of hand? Trainers often did stupid things when it came to proving they were tough.

Something about the second pokemon just didn't look right. The features weren't solely those of a pokemon. The way it attacked was different from a pokemon attack. It looked like a man attacking that pokemon! Joy knew she had to stop this before anything more could happen. This poor pokemon wasn't the one to blame for this and surely it didn't deserve to suffer for it at the hands of whomever this strange man was.

Thinking on her feet, Joy knew she had to act fast before it was too late, "Jenny! The trainer is over there!" she called, pointing to the disheveled man sitting on the ground, "I'll take care of the Onix!"

"Wait! What are you..." Jenny called but it was too late, since Joy was already pulling out her pokeballs and releasing her two Chansey as she ran in the direction of the Onix. Deciding she'd better listen to Joy, who seemed to have a better handle on the situation, Jenny ran over to the trainer, though it took her a minute to pick him out of the crowd.

"What happened?", she asked, crouching down beside the man who looked a tad overwhelmed.

Brock looked up, a tad surprised to see the Officer Jenny from Cerulean City standing in front of him, "I dropped my pokeball!" he explained, figurng it was best to get straight to the point in this situation.

"Well, don't just sit there, then!" Jenny said, heaving the trainer to his feet, "Let's find it and get this situation back under control!"

Brock allowed himself to be hauled to his feet and nodded, wasting no time in returning to his search for the red and white orb. It had to be around here somewhere, but where the hell was it? Under any normal circumstances he would've seen it right off, but so much was happening that he just couldn't find the darn thing.

From the corner of her eye, Jenny watched Joy. What was she doing! Was she going to try and stop that Onix with two measly Chansey? That plan didn't seem like a very smart one...

Joy, however, knew exactly what she was doing, "Get these people to safety!" she called to her Chansey. The pokemon nodded. All of Nurse Joy's Chansey had been trained for crisis situations, so getting people out of harm's way was all to easy for them.

As her Chansey ran off to help the panicking crowd, Joy prepared for the dangerous task ahead of her. She was about to jump headlong into a pokemon battle, or at least, something that was pretty darn close. It was something that was pretty much the first page in the trainer's handbook and generally pegged as a death wish, but if she didn't do something, somebody was going to get killed, she was convinced of it. Soon the giant pokemon was directly above her and she had to do a direct course change in order to stop herself from being smashed by it.

"Stop!" she cried, her first impulse telling her this was what she should do, "You're going to hurt somebody!"

Inuyasha seemed not to have heard, but Kagome looked over to the woman running toward them. What on earth was this woman thinking? She was running straight into the battle without any weapons, which Kagome had learned was a bad idea. Kagome figured that she had best act quickly and get the pink haired woman out of harm's way before she got herself killed and darted out from her vantage point behind a pile of chairs to make her way toward the woman.

Meanwhile, Joy kept on trying to get the man's attention. He appeared to be slashing at the pokemon with some sort of claws. Wait, claws? That didn't seem possible, though somehow this man seemed to have long talons, like a meowth and the ears to match it. She was slightly confused by this, but she didn't let it perturb her from getting his attention.

"Hey! What are you doing!" she practically screamed at him. He didn't answer or act like he'd heard her so she tried again, "Hey, I'm talking to you! You're going to get some one killed!"

Joy was interrupted when she was grabbed by somebody and thrown to the ground behind a pile of chairs. Ready to defend herself, Joy raised her fists and was ready to start swinging. When she looked up and saw a girl standing over her, she felt a bit more at ease.

"What were you thinking, running into a battle like that?" Kagome asked, a tad preachy, "And why were you trying to end the fight?"

Joy looked at her for a minute before practically yelling her answer at the girl, "I was trying to stop that man, whoever he is, from hurting that innocent pokemon and getting somebody killed!"

Kagome was a bit surprised by the pink haired woman's statement and wondered if it were true, "Pokemon? I thought it was a demon."

"Demon?" Joy said, a bit taken aback, "That poor creature is a Pokemon and he is certainly not demonic." she said sternly, "If that reckless man weren't attacking him, that Onix would be gentle as a Mareep."

Kagome thought about her comment for a moment, ignoring the comment about the Mareep, whatever that was, "So...He isn't trying to hurt anybody?"

"Certainly not." Joy affirmed.

"Right, I'll go and stop Inuyasha." and with that, Kagome went off to stop this before it got any worse. It wasn't the first time they had attacked something innocent and harmless, so she didn't take much convincing.

"Inuyasha!" she called as she ran, "You have to stop attacking him! He's not a demon!"

Inuyasha looked over at her, "Huh?" he said as he dodged a whip from the giant rock's tail.

"It's not a demon, Inuyasha!" Kagome called, a tad frustrated with him.

"So?" he asked stubbornly as he went in for another attack, pulling a few drops of blood from a cut on his arm, he prepared a few Blades of Blood for his next move.

"So stop attacking him!" she said, her voice a bit more stern.

"Why should I?" Inuyasha asked, defiantly, "He's tryin' to kill me!"

"Only cause you tried to kill him first!" she was starting to get angry now and wondered why she was even arguing with him, "Do I have to say the "S" word, Inuyasha."

"Go ahead!" he taunted, only realizing his mistake after he had said it.

Kagome smirked at him as she yelled, "Sit Boy!" at the top of her lungs and he slammed into the ground mid leap, taking out a pile of chairs.

Joy was a tad surprised by her control over him. Perhaps he truly was a pokemon and she was his trainer. Regardless of the answer or the explanation she wasted no time in rushing off toward the Onix. She wasn't sure exactly what she'd do once she reached the pokemon, but she had to at least be sure it wasn't seriously injured from its ordeal.

The poor thing lay motionless and panting, slumped over a pile of chairs. Reaching out slowly with her hand, she stroked the onix's muzzle gently in hopes it would help to calm him down. It didn't seem to notice her hand or her presence and she felt this was very bad sign. Continuing her examination, she walked the length of the pokemon, eying him up and down. It looked to have only minor injuries, so she figured it was probably just exhausted from fighting.

Fishing around in her purse, she pulled out a small spray bottle. She always carried a bit of medicine with her when she traveled and a pit of Super Potion should clear this right up.

Brock approached his pokemon, pokeball now in hand, with Jenny quite close behind him. A severe feeling of guilt filled his heart as he looked Onix over and he was kicking himself subconsciously. Onix was panting and looked pretty beaten up. How could he have been so irresponsible?

"It should be fine with a bit rest." Joy told the two who were now approaching, "Return him to his ball and it should be good as new in a day or two." she seemed confident in her prognosis as she stepped away from the pokemon, putting her spray bottle back into her purse.

"Thank you." Brock said to Joy in a humble a completely honest tone.

He held up his pokeball in the usual fashion, "Onix, Retun!" he commanded firmly and the pokemon disappeared in a beam of red light.

Meanwhile and elsewhere...

The monotony of airport travel was ever present in the ever boring and slightly annoying slowness of the pace in the Security Line. The line had barely moved since Kora and Ferin had entered it and the stupid security guys were being especially thorough today, which meant that the line was taking longer than normal.

So far, the only eventful thing to happen was that some old lady had beeped when going through the metal detectors and it had turned out to just be her knee replacement. Ferin laughed a bit at the scene. Did they really think a little old lady would have a weapon or a bomb on her? It seemed ridiculous to him, but maybe it had happened before. He let out an audible snort at the thought of an old lady with a machine gun rampaging through the terminal came into his mind.

Kora was perplexed by the sudden snort that came from the guy in front of her.

"What are you laughing at?" she asked, her intrigue now sparked. She wasn't above polite conversation and admittedly this guy wasn't all that bad looking and was wearing a pilot's uniform. A bit of a plus on her part, though being a stewardess she wasn't technically supposed to be flirting with the pilots.

Ferin turned to face her when she spoke. He was a bit surprised by her question, since she was a complete stranger, but then again, what else was there to do in this line?

"N-Nothing." he stuttered, figuring that machine guns and old ladies wasn't an appropriate topic for an airport security line, not to mention the fact that Airline Pilots were supposed to be professionals, "So, what flight are you working?", he asked, changing the subject.

Kora practically laughed at him and his completely random question, "Flight 180-S to the Bahamas." she stated, habitually.

A smile crossed his face, "Ah, same as me then." he commented, pretending it didn't matter to him, though he wasn't exactly disappointed.

"Guess so." she replied in a tone to match his obviously fake disinterest, "I thought the staff lines were supposed to run a bit faster than this." she said, changing the subject slightly yet again.

"Apparently you've never been through the lines here before." he said with a slight chuckle, "They're always a little slower with the added security precautions in place."

Kora heaved a slight sigh at his statement. It looked like she was gonna be there for a while.
