Disclaimer: I own nothing except the gender bender for Ariel and any alterations to the original storyline plot this creates for various readers amusement everywhere across the globe.
Savior Of The Seven Kingdoms 2 Chapter 3
Normally at the end of Ariel's shift at Terry's Sunken Galleon in Amnesty Bay it isn't unusual for Ariel to escort her father back home to the lighthouse after a fun day at the bar. Despite her much smaller size compared to him, Ariel leaves the tavern logging her father to the truck with one of his arms thrown across her shoulders in order to remain upright for added support from these frequent visits to her workplace.
Thomas Curry is wasted after all that drinking.
Although he can barely stand and walk without wobbling too much Thomas Curry nevertheless tries to persist on acting like a tough guy.
"I'm good," insisted Thomas Curry.
"Stop," chortled Ariel in amusement.
Handing her the keys to the truck, Thomas said "Here's the keys."
"Thank you," said Ariel in a sing-song voice.
Gesturing at his daughters' intricate tattoos, Thomas Curry said "Let's go home and work on your ta moko. Huh? If your grandpops were still alive, he'd be hanging our heads for not finishing it."
"Yes, he would, but there is plenty of time for that. We've got to get you to bed," said Ariel, softly, gently kissing his cheek as she settles him in the front passenger side and buckling him in. "Got it?"
"Yes," said Thomas Curry, nodding sleepily.
As Ariel begins to round the truck to reach the driver's seat a sharp and loud splashing noise is heard. Instinctively Ariel glances in that direction and sees the culprit. A familiar face that brings about instant displeasure.
Mera.
"Oh joy," muttered Ariel under her breath.
Marching over to Ariel with a clear purpose, strongly, Mera said "I've been looking for you."
Already shaking her head in refusal to whatever Mera has in mind, Ariel said "No, no, no, no, no…"
"I need you to come with me to Atlantis," proclaimed Mera.
"Listen, I'm going to tell you the same thing that I told that nosy, rusty starfish Vulko. Except nicer because, like me, you're a lady. No, thank you. I'm not interested," said Ariel, stubbornly firm and decisive about her choice, partially surprised her mentor isn't here accompanying the woman.
"You defeated Steppenwolf and saved Atlantis from Darkseid," pressed Mera.
Losing patience, filled with annoyance, spinning around to face Mera, Ariel said "That had nothing to do with Atlantis. Your half-brother King Orm is about to declare war upon the surface of the world. Billions will die. Your people and mine. We must stop him."
This does grant Ariel some hesitant pause. While lacks any sense of duty toward Atlantis she does for the surface world and those that live on land.
Closing the door, Ariel challenged "And how do you suppose we do that?"
"You are the firstborn child of Queen Atlanna. The throne is yours by birthright," argued Mera, passionately.
"The firstborn daughter, not a son," said Ariel, disagreeing with Mera's regards to encourage her to take the leap.
In contrast to Ariel, Orm is a male. She might be the firstborn of the late Queen Atlanna's bloodline, but Orm is the son. So a majority would see him as the proper heir to the throne by not only being a full-blooded Atlantean but by being of the male gender.
Continuing where she left off, Mera said "The only way to stop this war and save both worlds is for you to take your rightful place as Queen. It doesn't matter whether you were born male or not. You are the only one that Atlanna could see to bring peace and unite both worlds."
Laughing mockingly at the notion, in sarcastic disbelief, Ariel said "You think if I just show up, Orm's just going to abdicate and give up the throne without a fight? I'm the bastard daughter of the queen your people executed. Trust me. I am no queen."
"I agree," said Mera in scathing disdain and contempt.
Rolling her eyes, Ariel said "That's awesome. Cool."
Speaking next in begrudging respect, Mera said "But, Vulko seems to believe in you for some reason, and that's why I'm here. Vulko has learned of the location of the Lost Trident of Atlan."
"Fairy tales. It's a myth," scoffed Ariel.
"It's not a myth. With the Sacred Trident, the people will listen to you. You can then claim your birthright and dethrone Orm," said Mera.
"My birthright? It died with my mother. But I promise you this, if Orm attacks, I will treat him exactly the same way your people treated her. With no mercy," stated Ariel.
That's not a threat, it's a promise.
One Ariel intends to keep.
Not leaving further room for argument Ariel departs with her father, leaving Mera behind.
Ariel presumed that to be the end of it. Turns out it's not.
Less than five minutes later disaster strikes Amnesty Bay.
The first sign of danger is when the signal goes dead on the crackling radio. The resident sea life may have gone quiet in its desperation to get out of the danger zone, but the roar of the water is ever more prominent.
A tidal wave.
Ariel makes a break for higher ground, but it's still not enough. This old and rickety truck is still far too slow even at gunned full speed.
The torrent slams into the truck. A tree truck smashes through the windshield, forcing Ariel out. Ariel tumbles in the undercurrent, quickly maneuvering herself to regain control of her bodily movements. Ariel frantically searches the churning tidal wave for the truck where her father remains trapped in captivity. Unlike her, he won't survive under these conditions for long, specifically the water pressure and lack of air. That is if he hadn't been pulled out of there as she'd been. Dodging in and out of debris and knocking some aside Ariel calls out for her father yet receives no such desired answer. Not a sound.
Just as Ariel is about to lose all hope and let grief take her a miracle occurs.
The water parts, creating an ever-increasing air pocket as it recedes, revealing the overturned truck and Mera as she forces the water away. Arms raised and eyes glowing a radiant electric blue Mera utilizes her own magic to draw the tidal wave back from where they stand and Amnesty Bay altogether.
Without delay, Ariel tears into the truck to pull her father out.
Thomas Curry is unconscious, limp, and not breathing.
Beginning to chest compressions, fearfully, Ariel said "He's not breathing."
Kneeling beside her, Mera said "Move! Let me help!"
Holding a hand over Thomas's face Mera carefully extracts the seawater from his nose, throat, and lungs.
Thomas Curry comes to, coughing and sputtering the rest of the water from his body. Ariel hugs him close to her, beyond relieved and grateful to have him returned to her alive and whole in one piece.
"Thank you, Mera," said Ariel, relaying every emotion she was feeling through her eyes.
Mera nods in reply. She then surveys the damage the tidal wave's devastating rampage caused.
Sirens are wringing throughout Amnesty Bay with numerous fires spread throughout the harbor town. Warships and trash can be seen everywhere.
Forebodingly, Mera said "This was Orm's doing. The worst is yet to come."
Deeply shaken by the fact she could've easily lost her father from a tidal wave tonight Ariel is left with a serious choice to make.
One that she can no longer ignore and remain ignorant of.
Orm's actions tonight have apparently made the decision for her this time.
Authors Note:
Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early last morning after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.
When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in someway. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.
Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.
Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads. But when it does I'm definitely pressing the report abuse button.
Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.
I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D
For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.
So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.
I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
