Star Trek: The Next Gamer

Episode 5.7: Coruscant - Descent

Tyson accessed his PADD, sending orders to HALO as fast as his Computers skill allowed. Palpatine, injured from his battle with the Jedi and bounty hunters, was falling further from his reach every moment. He wasn't sure how much health the Sith had remaining at the end of the battle, but he wouldn't have another opportunity where he was so weakened. He instructed his drone to track Palpatine, avoiding contact with any creatures, humanoids, or other droids. Federation sensors were better than anything in this universe giving HALO an advantage.

Even with the droid in pursuit, Tyson couldn't just jump after him. There were injured bounty hunters, the Jedi, and his new master to deal with. The injured bounty hunters were top priority; they were both victims of Palpatine's Force Lightning attacks and reduced to 0 health.

Tyson quickly rushed to the aid of Jango Fett and Cad Bane as they lay unconscious on the ground. He pulled out the biobed and medical tricorder he had stored in his Inventory and his Medicine skill guided his actions as he assessed their injuries.

Medicine Check (DC:30) = 45 Major Success!

Both bounty hunters suffered from ailments created by Palpatine's Force Lightning. Jango's outward wounds were severe, his armor cracked in several places from the attacks. Tyson quickly got to work, dermal-regenerator cleaning and closing the surface wounds. His tricorder guided him, assessing the injuries and leading him from one treatment to the next. Cad Bane had taken neurological damage from the energy coursing through his body, but the scanner revealed no damage to the structure of his brain. Though the tricorder had no baseline measurements for Duros, it had hundreds of examples to cross reference for any signs of a traumatic brain injury.

As he worked, the pressure of the situation weighed heavily on him. Jango's breathing became labored, and his heart's rhythm was affected, in addition to the other tissue damage he'd suffered. Tyson knew that time was of the essence and he worked to save the bounty hunter's life.

With a final beep from the tricorder, Tyson breathed a sigh of relief. He had done all he could for Jango, stabilizing him for the time being. He quickly moved on to Cad Bane, assessing his vitals and applying a sequence of hyposprays. The treatment he'd developed to restore the Vulcan neural pathways after Trellium-D exposure could likely assist with the neurological damage from the Force Lightning. At least, that was the assumption he was working under. Either way, it was the only treatment he had available to administer immediately. With a final check, he restored his items to the Inventory satisfied that both bounty hunters would survive.

The area was littered with blaster burns and blood stains, giving Tyson plenty of materials for Power Eater. Cad Bane was the last patient he treated and the first drop of blood to hit his tongue. Bane's blood was followed by Jango Fett's. Though they were the first to fall in combat, their blood offered some decent options.

Now Tyson moved on to the real reward; the drops of Palpatine's blood. Most of the damage the Sith had taken was from Energy weapons, leaving little trace, except the blast from the small yield rocket. There were over a dozen options, but numerous ones that Tyson couldn't select. And a few that were question marks, hidden from Tyson's understanding. There were many options locked because he didn't have the prerequisites. One example was Triple Attack, Tyson was limited to selecting Double Attack because it was Triple's prerequisite.

Tyson was presented with the most difficult decision he'd had in weeks. How often would he be able to absorb power from a Sith Lord at Palpatine's level? Tyson spent longer than he should have considering the options. His equipment layout had changed drastically in the past few days and he didn't want to pick something that would quickly become obsolete. Using his most recent battle as a relevant example, which trait would've been most useful? Vital Transfer. It would have allowed him to fight in the backline from range, healing for support. But from a second perspective, being up close allowed him to use his Cortosis sword to great effect, altering the course of battle. Overall, Tyson was built like a tank, with high hit points, a shield, etc. He may one day be relegated to a leadership or support position, but he couldn't see that happening soon. Now that he had a working lightsaber, he could improve it, and its ability to reflect energy weapons would likely make it a go-to weapon going forward.

It was his concern about wasting such a valuable blood sample that made him decide not to accept any traits from Palpatine's blood. He stored the sample in his Inventory for a time when he knew he wouldn't regret his choice.

Master Arren Kae hadn't moved. The area around the blind Jedi had been scorched during the battle, up to the point where she stood. The single step back she'd taken when the battle began was all she needed to avoid the splash damage from the fight, leaving the woman unaffected. She addressed her new apprentice, "I understand your desire to take action, but have you considered the consequences? What if you failed? What if you got hurt or worse?"

Tyson bristled slightly at the suggestion. "It was my plan that set up his defeat."

Arren narrowed her eyes. "And yet you sought my intervention and now you seek my approval. Do not underestimate the power of the Sith, Tyson. They will stop at nothing to achieve their goals." She stopped for a moment, considering, "Perhaps that is a trait you share."

Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon stood nearby, still gasping and recovering, but listening to the exchange. Qui-Gon spoke up weakly. "Master Kae, what do you suggest we do now?"

Kae turned to him, her gaze intense. "We must be careful. The Sith have been exposed. They are no fools to hide as they have. They are always looking for ways to corrupt and deceive us. We must not let our emotions lead us astray." Returning her attention to Tyson, her eyes narrowed in suspicion. "You were reckless, Padawan. You risked not only your own life but the lives of those around you."

Tyson's face falls at the rebuke, but he remains resolute. "We had a chance to stop him. We had to take it. If he hadn't been exposed the damage he could have done to the Republic, as a senator, is immeasurable."

Master Kae regarded him for a long moment, her expression unreadable. "And what of the consequences of your actions? What will happen now that Palpatine has escaped?"

When his master asked him the question he received a quest notification.

Tyson accepted the quest.

Master Kae shook her head, a faint smile playing at the corners of her lips. "I can see your hubris has decided for you. It is a dangerous trait, but one that may serve you well in the future." She turns to walk away, providing a final anecdote before scoffing. "Remember this lesson, Padawan. Some quests may not be worth undertaking. Not every opportunity is the Will of the Force."

"I understand and will mind my actions in the future," Tyson replied while bowing his head.

"We shall see." Kae waved him off. "Go if you must. I will see to the care of the Jedi and bounty hunters."

Tyson unfurled his wings and launched himself into the Coruscant sky, plummeting through the open air. Quick access to the Inventory had Tyson equipped with the Ancient Mandalorian Armor. He felt the sleek armor increase his speed as he hurtled toward the city-planet's lower levels, his dragonfly-like wings unfolding behind him. The weight of his armor felt heavy against his body, but he knew he would need it in pursuit of his quarry. His wings pulled back, making him an arrow through the neon-lit sky of Coruscant as he sought the fleeing Senator.

As Tyson descended into Coruscant, he was struck by the overwhelming scale of the city-planet. It was a behemoth, an endless expanse of metal, concrete, and pollution that stretched beyond the horizon. The higher levels, where the powerful and influential resided, were a testament to the opulence and might of the ruling elite. The levels numbered up into the 5000s, holding the prestigious Galactic Senate and Jedi Temple. But as he descended lower, the façade of prosperity faded away and the true nature of the city revealed itself. The once-modern structures gave way to ramshackle buildings, their steel frames rusted and covered in graffiti. The streets were dimly lit and patrolled by security droids, their mechanical eyes glowing ominously in the shadows. Tyson's descent was swift and treacherous, and the wind howled like a banshee as he broke through the cloud cover.

As he neared the 2300s levels, the speed of his descent grew beyond his control. Desperate, he pulled out a Single Trooper Aerial Platform he'd used back on Tatooine from his Inventory. These reconnaissance vehicles could hold a single creature and were designed for scouting or harrying an enemy, but the craft would serve this situation. He pulled one out and activated it, the sudden deceleration straining his prodigious strength. But it was the best option, Tyson knew that he couldn't slow down enough to land safely using his thin wings alone. Now under control, he had to find a way into the tunnels that led deeper into the city's underbelly.

Tyson could feel his heart pounding in his chest as he ran through the dark streets of Coruscant's mid-levels, his wings spread wide to keep him balanced as he sprinted. He had been chasing Palpatine for what felt like hours now, the Sith's large lead making it difficult to catch up. It was in the mid-1900s levels that he found a shaft that led him even deeper, the darkness swallowing him whole as he descended further into the abyss. The air grew thick with the stench of refuse, and the sound of dripping water echoed through the mostly empty tunnels.

Tyson's descent halted at the ominously labeled level 1313, where he searched for a new passageway down. As he descended further into the darkness, the sounds of life on the upper levels faded away, replaced by a cacophony of violence and despair. The stench of sewage mixed with a hint of hopelessness hung heavy in the air, and the walls were covered in layers of filth. Tyson stopped in an empty street to attempt to navigate the steel maze. His pause to check his tricorder and PADD drew unwanted attention. The Mandalorian armor wasn't enough of a deterrent to the approaching group of armed thugs, each with a look of hunger in their eyes. He drew his Vulcan Phasers awaiting their approach. The thugs pulled blaster carbines and attacked, their bolts lighting up the dim alleyway. He dropped the nearest two in the first round, not bothering to attempt to dodge their shots. When his shield sprang to life, the ruffians realized they couldn't take down their mark and they beat a quick retreat leaving Tyson to his navigation.

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

The descent into the lower levels of Coruscant had been treacherous, and Tyson had been bracing himself for any number of hazards. He had seen the derelict structures and the disheartened denizens that dwelled in this cesspool of a city. But, he hadn't been interrupted by the locals again since the thugs of 1313.

As he entered the power generation and distribution sector of level 127, he felt a cold shiver run down his spine. He knew he was being followed. He'd picked out the nearby presence with his Empathy, and confirmed it with the tricorder. They must have a way of tracking him because his Gaze Sense wasn't detecting any onlookers.

Drawback Activated: The Rule of 2… 3, 4?

With a sudden burst of speed, the cloaked figure appeared before him, wielding a wicked red lightsaber. The hum of the weapon echoed throughout the cavernous space, filling the air with a sinister sound. Tyson was caught off guard but quickly drew his lightsaber, preparing for whatever came next. He saved the Cortosis weapon as a backup, wielding Palpatine's stolen weapon as his own. Tyson, the nerd he was, couldn't prevent the grin from spreading across his face, careless of the danger he was in. It was the first time he'd wielded a lightsaber and death-battle be damned, he was going to enjoy it.

The two stood there for a moment, sizing each other up. The Sith was cloaked in darkness, their face obscured by the shadows of its hood. Tyson evaluated the familiarity of the enemy before him. This was not Palpatine. HALO was still a ways off and at an even lower level than Tyson's current triple-digit one.

Tyson raised his weapon and prepared to engage in battle. The Sith lunged forward, their lightsaber blazing, and the two clashed. But this was only the beginning of their conflict, a prelude to the battles further in the dark depths of Coruscant. The harsh red light of their sabers casts a macabre glow on Tyson's face. The Sith's hood was blown back in their exchange, revealing her striking features. Her head was covered by a red habit, and the upper half of her face was hidden by an ornate cloth with gold trim. Her matching robe was overlaid by a tabard-like armor with the look of black leather.

The moment of observation allowed him to comprehend where he'd felt her presence previously. On Tatooine. When they were ambushed by Maul. He'd felt her then, hiding in the background. Even with her face mysteriously covered, he recognized her from his meta-knowledge and his Observe confirmed.

Visas Marr's features were striking in the dim light, with the curve of her lips drawing his gaze. She exuded a darkness that was both alluring and menacing.

Visas v. Tyson: Lightsaber = Success, Absorbed
Tyson v. Visas: Lightsaber = Blocked

Tyson lunged forward, his lightsaber cutting through the static-filled air. But Visas was quick, dodging out of the way and countering with a vicious swipe of her own. Their lightsabers clashed, sparks flying in all directions. Tyson's second attack was just as quick as the first, but it was met with equal force by Visas, who blocked it effortlessly.

The two rounded each other, each looking for an opening. Tyson's next attack missed its mark, his lightsaber grazing harmlessly against the stone floor. Visas's next attack was swift and precise, aimed straight at Tyson's heart, but it was deflected by his powerful forcefield.

For a moment, they stood there, locked in a deadly embrace, each trying to gain the upper hand. But as quickly as it had begun, the moment was over, and they were once again in motion, lightsabers flashing as they continued their dance of death.

Visas v. Tyson: Lightsaber = Critical Success, 21 Damage!
Shield Generator Destroyed!
Tyson v. Visas: Lightsaber = Success, 18 Damage! (219/237 HP)

The clash of lightsabers echoed through the dark, oppressive corridors of Coruscant's lowest power plant as Tyson and Visas exchanged blows, their blades a blur of red and blue in the dim light. Visas struck first, her blade lashing out with deadly precision. The first strike was met by Tyson's forcefield, but the second was a critical hit. Sparks flew as her lightsaber pierced his shield and sliced through his shield generator, leaving him vulnerable to her next attack.

Tyson was undaunted, launching a counterattack. His lightsaber glinted in the flickering light as he landed two glancing blows on Visas, the raw power of his strikes sending shockwaves through her body. But despite his ferocity, Tyson lacked the training and finesse of a true Jedi. He knew he would need to find a way to overcome Visas's skill and experience if he hoped to survive the fight.

Tyson and Visas each looked for an opening. Visas attacked first, her lightsaber whirling through the air, but Tyson's armor absorbed most of the blow. In a quick movement, Tyson stored his lightsaber in his Inventory and drew his two sleek Vulcan Phasers, ready to face Visas in close combat once again. His first shot went wide, but his second hit Visas square in the chest, sending her stumbling back a step.

The Gamer used the space created by the Sith's stumble to take to the sky. He rained another volley of blasts down on her. Visas reached for Tyson with the Force trying to pull him to the ground. But he was able to resist her telekinetic attack.

Tyson flew circles around Visas, firing his phasers with precision and accuracy. She defended herself with her lightsaber, but it was clear that she was struggling to keep up with his speed and agility. Visas tried to use the Force to grab him with telekinesis, but Tyson's strong willpower made it difficult for her to get a hold of him.

As they continued to trade blows, Tyson noticed an opening in Marr's defense and quickly switched his phaser to stun. He fired the weapon, hitting her at the top of the sternum, right where the collarbones met. Visas fell to the ground, unconscious.

Tyson circled back around to make sure she was down for good before landing and storing his phasers. He couldn't afford to take any chances, especially with a Sith. He Inventoried her lightsaber and then checked her vitals. He made sure she was stable before pulling his biobed from the Inventory and gently placing her to rest.

The Gamer double-checked his quest notification to make sure there wasn't a timer on chasing Palpatine. There wasn't. So, he took the time to repair Marr's phaser burns with his dermal regenerator. Afterward, he searched for an empty warehouse in a reasonable state of repair. Activating the anti-gravity lift on the biobed, he dragged it to the lot he'd chosen. Once there the Gamer began unloading all the engineering equipment from his Inventory and set to work repairing the shield generator Visas destroyed.

Tyson was at an impasse. Not only had he fixed his shield, but he'd also upgraded it. It'd been two hours since he defeated the ambush by Visas Marr. His mission was to kill or capture Sheev Palpatine, the future Sith Lord. He'd already battled Palpatine, and with four allies they barely forced the fallen Senator to flee. The Gamer had not gotten an accurate measure of the Sith's health when he was routed, but assumed it was somewhere between a half and a third remaining.

His first thought was, just nuke the fucker and be done with it. He had two starships in his Inventory, the D'Kyr, and an Oberth Class ship. The problem was, the phasers on either ship were not powerful enough to glass a structure as deep as HALO indicated the temple was. He also had the Trade Federation landing craft, but that and the D'Kyr were too large to even pull out in the limited skies of Coruscant's lowest levels. So the safest route was out.

He'd already repaired his personal shield generator. He even had time to streamline the design and add a second generator. Normal droideka only used a single shield generator because their blasters and motors were pulled from the same power source. Tyson stripped out those extra parts allowing him to add the second forcefield projector. His worry was if Visas Marr could destroy his shield generator, Palpatine would pop it like a bubble. He wasn't feeling secure even with double the shield strength layered over the Mandalorian armor.

Fighting Visas highlighted his weaknesses. He had a decent defense against force powers but in a lightsaber duel he was severely overmatched. His skills with the weapon were non-existent. His phasers worked on Visas, but Palpatine showed far more deftness in deflecting them earlier.

Tyson considered his strengths against a force wielder. The cortosis sword was at the top of the list. It'd proven effective in disabling Palpatine's lightsaber. But without a follow-up damage source, they would stalemate at best. He had the Legendary Ligonian staff, which did massive damage and could withstand a lightsaber. But he'd have a hard time hitting the wily Sith without his Master with your Hands perk. His Martial Arts skill was his highest combat skill, but would it be useful? Throwing punches in a lightsaber duel seemed like a terrible option. He'd make contact, but at what cost?

Tyson leaned on his metaknowledge for a solution. Clever story-book heroes would come up with a plan with backups and fail safes. Gamers would postpone engaging in the boss fight, choosing to grind on respawns or sidequests. Other protagonists might turn to Talk-no-Jutsu? That wouldn't work for Tyson, but one thing he hadn't considered was the 'Power of Friendship'. Tyson would do all of the above. But first he walked over to the unconscious Visas and used a hypospray to extract a small amount of blood.

Visas had access to some of the same powers as Palpatine. Double Attack, Rebuke, Force Lightning, and Vital Transfer. As tempting as those traits were, especially Double Attack which would allow him to use Palpatine's blood for Triple Attack, he ignored them for her unique Species trait. Visas was a Miraluka, a rare blind race that 'sees' using only the Force.

As Tyson closed his eyes and focused his mind, the world around him came alive with a new vibrancy. He could feel the energy coursing through everything, from the withering plants to the electricity generated for the mega-city above to the very air he breathed. He had been given a new sense, one that allowed him to perceive the world on a level beyond the physical. And then he opened his eyes, or at least, what he thought were his eyes. Instead of seeing with his physical eyes, he saw with the Force. The world around him was no longer a flat, two-dimensional space, but a multidimensional tapestry of light and energy. He saw colors he never knew existed, swirling and intermingling in a dance of pure beauty. He saw patterns and shapes in everything, from the way the leaves rustled in the wind to the way the polluted haze drifted as clouds across the sky.

But it wasn't just the visual aspect of the world that had changed for Tyson. He could sense the emotions of those around him, even when they tried to hide them. He could feel the intentions of others, their hopes and fears, and their deepest desires. It was as if he had been given a window into their very souls. There was his Empathy and then there was the Force itself, an ever-present energy that permeated everything. Tyson could feel it flowing through him, connecting him to all living things. He could sense its ebb and flow, its rhythms and patterns, and he knew that he was a part of something much larger than himself.

Use The Force Check (DC:15) = 21 Major Success!
Use The Force Skill Increased! (3)

Tyson's newfound connection to the Force had opened his eyes to a world beyond the physical, but there was a stain on his senses. The ancient Sith temple. He could feel the dark aura that emanated from its very walls. It was as if the temple was alive, pulsing with malevolent energy that seemed to reach out and grab hold of him. Tyson could feel the weight of centuries of dark deeds and unspeakable horrors that had taken place within its walls. But more importantly, he could sense the presence of the Sith, Palpatine wasn't alone.

HALO detected several life signs and Tyson now knew they were all Force Sensitives, except for two. One was Palpatine, which was able to avoid his detection, and a second. Tyson had to assume that there were nine others with access to the Dark Side inside the temple and one in addition to Palpatine that was more attuned to the Force than himself.

Tyson was broken from his musings by a consciousness stirring nearby; Visas was waking.

Visas Marr slowly opened her eyes, her head throbbed, but her body was strangely absent of pain. As she looked around, she saw that she was lying in a bed, and her lightsaber was nowhere to be found. She tried to get up, but her body felt weak and unresponsive. It was then that she noticed him nearby. Tyson, the one who defeated her in battle. He paused his work to observe his ambusher but he didn't move to grab a weapon or take a defensive stance. Visas couldn't help but feel a sense of shame at her defeat. She had thought she was strong enough to take him down, but she had been wrong. Tyson looks down at her, his visage a bonfire in the force, as if all the energies of the world were converging on his brilliance. "You fought well, how are you feeling?" he asks.

"How...how did you defeat me?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.

"You relied too much on your connection to the Force," Tyson says. "The Force is not the only weapon at my disposal."

Visas nodded slowly. She had indeed become too reliant on her connection to the Force, too sure of her abilities.

"I...I understand," she says. "But what now? What will become of me?"

"That's up to you," Tyson says, standing up. "You can continue down your path, or you can choose a different one. The choice is yours."

Visas watched as her lightsaber appeared in Tyson's hand. Her mind raced with thoughts and emotions as he placed the weapon on the bed next to her. She had been defeated, but perhaps it was a blessing in disguise. Perhaps now she could find a new path, one that would lead her to true strength and power.

"I appreciate your returning my lightsaber to me."

"Why did you attack me?" Tyson demanded.

"I was sent to find you, Tyson,"

Tyson eyed her warily. "Who sent you? Palpatine?"

"No, it was not the Senator you pursue who sent me. It was my master. He feels your presence in the Force, and it disturbs him. He fears what you might become," Visas said. "He sent me to either bring you to him or destroy you."

"And now?" Tyson asked.

"I have always believed that strength comes from the Force, but my defeat at your hands has shown me otherwise. I need to find a new way to become more than what I am."

As Visas Marr looked upon Tyson with her Force Sight, she could see that he was a Nexus, a rare and powerful presence in the Force. To Visas, it was like looking upon a work of art, something beautiful and sacred that filled her with wonder and amazement. She had never felt anything like it before, it was as if his presence was the inverse of her master's. The light that balanced the darkness. She felt a stirring within her, a longing to be closer to him, to follow him wherever he went. She sensed that he could heal the wound within her, the emptiness that she had been carrying for so long. Visas stepped forward, her hand reaching out to touch his. Tyson didn't pull away and as their fingers interlaced, she felt a surge of hope course through her. She knew then that she had made the right decision, that Tyson was the one she had been seeking.

"I want to follow you," Visas said. "My master has shown me only pain and suffering. I wish to escape his grasp, and I believe that you can help me do so."

"Why should I trust you?" Tyson asked.

"Because I am not like my master," Visas said. "I do not crave power or destruction. I only wish to find my path in the Force, and I believe that you can help me do so."

There was a moment of silence between them before Tyson smiled and spoke. "I'm honored," he said. "But my road is treacherous, even now. I don't know if I'll survive the next encounter."

Visas felt a sense of relief wash over her as she heard his words. She had expected him to strike her down, but instead, he had shown her mercy. She vowed to follow him, to learn from him, and to serve him with all her heart and soul.

Increased Reputation with Visas Marr (Amiable)

"My life for yours," Visas said, pledging her loyalty and devotion to Tyson. "From this moment forward, I am your servant." Visas sensed a flicker of approval in his Force aura.

Tyson retrieved the lightsaber he'd stolen from Palpatine. "Then, as my servant, my first request of you is… teach me how to use this."

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

Visas held her lightsaber up for Tyson to see. "The grip is essential. You want to hold the lightsaber firmly, but not too tightly. A loose grip will only cause you to lose control."

Tyson nodded and mimicked Visas's grip, his fingers wrapping around the hilt of his own lightsaber. He felt a sense of power coursing through the weapon, and he couldn't help but grin with excitement.

"Now, let's move on to the basics of form one," Visas said, gesturing for Tyson to step forward. "This form is all about defense, about deflecting your opponent's attacks and waiting for the right moment to strike."

Tyson nodded again, eager to learn. He began to move his lightsaber in the basic motions Visas had shown him, feeling the weight of the weapon and the precision it required. She moved forward, her silver lightsaber flashing through the air. Tyson watched in awe as she demonstrated each of the basic blocks of Form I. "Block high," she said, holding her lightsaber above her head. "And then low," she continued, sweeping her lightsaber down in front of her.

Tyson followed her movements, mimicking the basic blocks of Form I. He could feel the power of his lightsaber coursing through his veins, and he knew that with Visas's guidance, he could become a formidable warrior.

"Good," Visas said, nodding approvingly. "Now, block to the left and then the right."

Tyson moved his lightsaber in the prescribed movements, feeling more and more confident with each passing moment. He was beginning to understand the flow of the Form, and how each movement led to the next.

"Excellent," Visas said, a small smile playing on her lips. "You have the basics blocks of Form I down. Now, let's move on to something a little more advanced."

Lightsaber Technique Unlocked!
Block - As a Reaction, you may negate a melee attack by making a successful Use the Force check. The DC of the check is equal to the result of the attack roll you wish to negate, and you must take a cumulative -5 penalty on your Use the Force check for every time you have used Block or Deflect since the beginning of your last turn. You may spend a Force Point to use this Talent to negate an attack against an adjacent character.

Lightsaber Technique Unlocked!
Deflect - As a Reaction, you may negate a ranged attack by making a successful Use the Force check. The DC of the check is equal to the result of the attack roll you wish to negate, and you take a cumulative -5 penalty on your Use the Force check for every time you used Block or Deflect since the beginning of your last turn. You may spend a Force Point to use this Talent to negate an attack against an adjacent character.

As they moved through the drills, Tyson found himself becoming more and more focused on Visas. As their training session ended, Tyson sat to meditate.

The Gamer felt a pull coming from his Force Bond with Master Kae. His previously clear mind was presented with the image of her sitting in a similar position to his own. The environment around her was difficult to distinguish through the vision-induced haze but her form was easily distinguished.

Meditation Skill Increased! (2)

Master Kae spoke to him through the Force Bond, "Form I, also known as Shii-Cho, is the most basic of all lightsaber forms. It is often referred to as the Way of the Sarlacc, as it was developed to combat multiple opponents simultaneously. In essence, it is a defensive form, focused on deflecting and redirecting incoming strikes.

But do not mistake its simplicity for weakness. Form I can be incredibly effective in the hands of a skilled practitioner. Its fluid motions and quick strikes make it ideal for engaging multiple foes at once, while its emphasis on footwork and mobility allows for easy maneuvering in combat. However, its strength is also its weakness. Against a single opponent, Form I can leave you vulnerable to precision strikes and counters. It is best used in situations where overwhelming numbers of opponents are present, or when facing less skilled opponents who are easily intimidated.

Overall, Form I serves as an excellent foundation for a Jedi's training, but it should not be relied upon as a primary form in all situations. Remember, a true Jedi must be adaptable and able to adjust their style to match their opponent's strengths and weaknesses."

Lightsaber Form Unlocked!
Form I: Shii-Cho - A versatile and foundational lightsaber form, taught to Jedi initiates as a primary combat style. This form prioritizes defense and evasion, with the goal of deflecting incoming strikes and maintaining distance from the enemy. When using the Block or Deflect Talents, you only take a -2 penalty on your Use the Force check for every previous Block or Deflect attempt since your last turn.

Skill Unlocked!
Lightsabers (level 1) - The Lightsaber is the chosen weapon of The Jedi and Sith. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster, the Lightsaber is an elegant weapon for a more civilized combatant. Skill level maximum locked at 12x Number of Lightsaber Forms known.

Tyson projected gratitude and appreciation through the bond. He wanted to test himself in a spar with Visas, but first, he needed to prepare alternative plans. The Gamer left Visas to meditate and returned to his makeshift engineering area.

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

Tyson stood in his temporary lab, surrounded by the scattered pieces of the android, Lore. His Engineering skill allowed for the quick reassembling of the intricate machinery. As he put the final touches on Lore's metallic exterior, the android's eyes flickered to life. "Greetings, Tyson," Lore said, his voice flat and emotionless. "Have you come to a decision?"

Tyson hesitated for a moment, his mind racing. He had previously agreed to consider Lore's demand for control over all the artificial intelligence, but he was still hesitant about the notion.

"Lore, I understand your desire not to have an organic like me controlling all the AIs," Tyson said, "But I cannot give you that. These AIs are sentient beings. Giving you control over them would make them your slaves. Isn't that the exact situation we're trying to prevent?"

Lore's eyes narrowed, and for a moment, Tyson thought he might have made a mistake. But then, to his surprise, the android spoke again. "I understand your concerns, Tyson," Lore said, his voice softening slightly. "And I respect your stance on this issue. But I must have some form of authority over the other AIs. It is necessary for us to function as a team."

This time it was Tyson who narrowed his eyes. He considered this for a moment, weighing the pros and cons. He knew that Lore would be extremely valuable if he could recruit him, but he thought the android capitulated too quickly. He was sounding more like Data than the Gamer expected from Lore. It was highly suspicious.

"Very well," Tyson said in a conciliatory but firm tone. "I will give you command over the other AIs, but not control. I respect you as a highly intelligent and capable being, and trust you with the responsibility. So long as you agree to a few necessary caveats. I am and will remain the leader of our group, or crew, or however large our command structure grows. You will be subordinate to me and any officers higher ranked than myself if we're on a Starfleet vessel, although I defer to your judgment if you're given an order by a non-command level officer. This is necessary as I will likely be under Data in the command structure of the Enterprise for my duration on that ship. Otherwise, you will have control over my AI forces except for other positronic beings. And in the case of me being in command, no positronic being will hold a higher rank than you, only equivalent."

Increased Reputation with Lore (Indifferent)

Lore's eyes flickered in approval, and for a moment, Tyson felt a sense of relief. They had come to an agreement, one that would allow them to work together as a team without compromising their values. The Gamer mourned the loss of a precious Luck point, but he needed Lore's assistance.

"Now that we've reached an agreement, let's get to work."

Tyson explained their current situation and objectives to Lore then left the android in the lab to complete his assigned task, which he was more than happy about. Tyson had unloaded a significant portion of what remained of his droid battalion for Lore to work on reprogramming. He wasn't sure how the android would handle such a volume, but he was certain it would be done in a way more efficient than what Tyson would devise. Tyson watched Lore go about his work and rejoined Visas for practice.

Visas Marr stood in the center of the training room, the red blade of her lightsaber humming with energy. Tyson stood across from her eager to learn the ways of the lightsaber. Earlier in the day when they faced each other, the Gamer was battling for his life, now he was merely an enthusiastic student.

"Remember, Tyson," Visas said, her voice calm but firm. "Form I is all about defense. Focus on deflecting my strikes and maintaining distance."

Tyson nodded, his eyes fixed on Visas's movements. As she moved forward, he stepped back, his lightsaber at the ready. Their lightsabers clashed in a shower of sparks, each blow parried by the other. Tyson could feel the heat of the energy field against his skin, the raw power of the weapon forced him to succeed in his movements or risk harming himself with his own blade. Their lightsabers continued to clash, each movement fluid and graceful. Tyson was beginning to feel more confident, more in tune with the ebb and flow of the Form. But then, as Visas moved in for a strike that seemed significantly faster than all her previous, Tyson's concentration wavered. He hesitated for just a moment, and at that moment, Visas's lightsaber penetrated his defenses.

Fearing everything up to this moment was a ruse, Tyson stumbled backward, his lightsaber clattering to the ground. Visas stood over him, her lightsaber still ignited. "Good effort, Tyson," she said, a small smile playing on her lips. "You're improving. But remember, never let your guard down."

Tyson nodded, his heart racing. He couldn't help but feel drawn to the dangerous Miraluka. As he looked up at her, he saw a hint of mischievousness in her lips, a flicker of attraction that mirrored his own.

For an hour, they moved back and forth, each blow parried and countered with equal skill. Their movements were like a dance, each step perfectly choreographed to match the other.

"Excellent work, Tyson," Visas said, a small smile playing on her lips. "You are improving with each exchange."

Tyson nodded knowing that he still had much to learn, but with Visas's guidance, his skill increased significantly. As they settled into a meditative state, Tyson could hear the faint sound of Lore in the background, reprogramming the hundreds of droids he deposited. It was a reminder that even amid their training, there was always work to be done. But for the moment, Tyson was content to focus on the present, to meditate and recharge his body and mind for the next round of training.

As they began their sparring session once again, Tyson felt a sense of peace and clarity wash over him. With Visas and Lore by his side, they might just overcome Palpatine.

Use The Force Skill Increased! (11)

Tyson stepped into the temporary engineering lab, and the soft hum of machinery greeted him as he scanned the room. He saw Lore already there, hunched over a workbench with various tools scattered around him.

The Gamer moved to a free table and began to work, carefully taking apart three sets of droidekas and extracting the shield technology from within. Once he had finished, he handed over one of the shields to Lore, who tested the fit. "This should do it," he said, accepting the upgrade.

"Eventually we can work to integrate it with your systems. But we'll need to spend enough time to ensure proper modularity for future upgrades." Tyson replied before heading out to offer Visas her shield. If he was dragging his allies into such a dangerous situation, he would outfit them as best he could.

Tyson cracked open the insides of his Ancient Mandalorian Armor, revealing the dusty remains of old, non-functioning parts that had been used in the armor systems and HUD. With a flick of his wrist, he called forth his stand-alone replicator, and in a swirl of light, a standard Starfleet medical tricorder materialized. He scoffed at the cost of a tricorder when Dr. Crusher had told him to replicate his own when he first arrived on the Enterprise. But now he didn't even notice the loss of credits as he deftly replaced the rusted hardware with the tricorder internals. His Computers skill allowed the seamless integration of sensor readings from HALO into the new armor scanners.

As he donned the helmet, the Ancient Mandalorian Armor was starting to feel more like a sleek Iron Man suit.

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

The Oberth Class starship floated just above the ground outside the warehouse. The ship had seemed small when Tyson saw it in space, and it was compared to the Enterprise. But within the confines of Coruscant's lower levels, the ship looked massive at a little over 100 meters long. The technology of the vessel was antiquated compared to the Enterprise, but some systems were not as dated; the sensors mainly. The phasers were weak by Federation standards, but the vessel did have a probe launcher that could fire a single photon torpedo. Subsequently, the vessel carried a complement of twenty-five photon torpedoes. Not enough to battle any modern starship, but for his plans.

He entered the torpedo bay and immediately saw the rows of torpedoes lined up in neat rows, waiting to be deployed. The torpedo bay was a similar layout to the one he'd visited on the Enterprise during the Tsilokovsky episode; the genius of Federation modularity. Tyson walked up to one of the torpedoes and examined it, noting the sleek oval design he once briefly mistook for a table.

With a few deft motions, he activated the torpedo's photon charge and set it to a ten-second delay. He then carefully removed it from its housing, activated the delayed detonation, and placed it into his Inventory, where it would remain until he needed it.

Tyson couldn't help but feel nervous at the power he now held in his possession. The photon torpedo on the Oberth was equal to the yield of the Tsar bomb, the largest atomic weapon ever tested on Tyson's Earth. If he set the weapon off on the lowest levels of Coruscant who knows what the aftereffects would be? Hopefully, it didn't come to that.

The task was far from complete. He stored four more photon torpedoes in his Inventory using the same process. He also added five each on five-minute and ten-minute timers. Tyson didn't store the ship once he nearly cleaned the torpedo bay; he'd need it, along with Lore's assistance and the industrial replicator for yet another backup plan.

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

Tyson sat on the bridge of the Oberth and clutched the companion gem, a small, iridescent stone that seemed to pulse with an inner light. He knew that, despite the vastness of the different dimensions that separated them, the gem would bridge the distance and bring T'pol, his closest ally, to his side. The Gamer had reservations about summoning his only ally. She had been taken from her original life and forced into the future, she had suffered from the effects of a disease, and now he was considering bringing her into a different universe. Did Tyson really need her help, or was he being selfish? Because the truth was, he missed her. Regardless of her cold logic, and unwillingness to openly share her feelings, Tyson wanted his companion by his side.

Use Companion Gem: T'Pol
Accept Y/N

The notification sat lingering in his view. "Fuck it." mumbled the Gamer, and he selected Yes. As he felt the gem's gentle warmth spreading through his fingers, the air around him seemed to shimmer, bending to the power of his desires.

And then, as if conjured from the depths of his dreams, T'pol appeared before him, with no accompanying visual or sound effects. She appeared disoriented for a moment before she gazed upon Tyson with a serenity that belied the emotions that swirled beneath the surface. Though her face remained impassive, the hallmark of her Vulcan heritage, Tyson could sense the flicker of happiness that danced within her.

"T'pol," Tyson breathed, almost a whisper, but loud enough for her Vulcan hearing, "I missed you."

The Vulcan woman, her slender frame wrapped in the simple, elegant lines of her light blue uniform, nodded her understanding. T'pol stood before Tyson, her posture as poised and graceful as ever. "Greetings, Tyson," T'pol said, her voice as calm and measured as a still pond. "I noted your presence in our bond had faded. I am pleased to find that you have not expired."

Tyson could not help but smile, touched by the subtle expression of affection. "Thank you, T'pol," he replied, his voice tinged with affection. "Your presence here means more to me than words can express."

T'pol inclined her head, acknowledging his sentiment. "It is only logical," she stated, her tone cool and even. "Our connection transcends conventional boundaries, and I recognize the significance of our partnership."

And so Tyson began telling T'Pol where he'd been and what they now had to do.

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

The atmosphere crackled with energy as Tyson and Visas faced each other for the final spar. All preparations had been made, and now it was time to put their skills to the test. The two would battle with lightsabers, no shields, all-out for one minute.

Visas wasted no time in attacking. She moved with lightning-fast speed, her strikes aimed directly at Tyson's vital points. But Tyson was just as quick, dodging and blocking her attacks. Tyson countered with a flurry of his own strikes, each one aimed at finding a weakness in Visas's defenses. She was an expert fighter, but he knew that he had to give it his all if he wanted to stand a chance.

For that one minute, they traded blows, their movements fluid, his strong and hers graceful. Tyson landed four solid hits on Visas, causing her to stagger back slightly, but she quickly regained her footing and pressed forward. Visas, in turn, landed three powerful strikes on Tyson, each one delivered with deadly precision. But Tyson refused to give up, blocking six of Visas's attacks and avoiding three more that would have landed if he hadn't moved quickly enough. Their movements were a blur, and the air was filled with the sound of their breathing and the clashing of their weapons. As the final seconds ticked down, they both knew that it could go either way. With a final burst of energy, they both attacked at the same time, their weapons meeting in a shower of sparks. They stood there for a moment, each one pushing against the other, Tyson out matching the Miraluka, until finally, they separated as time expired.

Use The Force Skill Increased! (13)

The results of the spar were close but clear. Tyson had landed four hits and missed two. Visas had landed three hits, missed three, and had six of her attacks blocked by Tyson. They looked at each other for a moment, mutual respect evident in their eyes.

They had pushed each other to their limits, and now Tyson believed he might be prepared for whatever lay ahead. He checked his Gamer checklist one last time.

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

Tyson and Visas Marr strode through the dark, labyrinthine corridors of the lower levels of Coruscant, their faces set in determination as they neared their destination: the Sith Temple.

As they drew closer, the air grew thick with a palpable sense of foreboding, the very walls seeming to pulse with ominous energy. The temperature dropped sharply, and the dim light of the corridors cast eerie shadows across the dank, rough-hewn stone. The shadows hid nothing from their sight though; both saw through the Force what the eyes didn't reveal. They approached the massive, ornately-carved doors of the temple, which loomed before them like a monolith of darkness. The doors creaked ominously as Tyson and Visas pushed them open, the sound echoing eerily through the empty chambers beyond.

Inside, the temple was a maze of shadowy corridors and winding staircases, all shrouded in a thick veil of darkness that seemed to seep into every corner. The darkness was oppressive, an ever present, tangible haze that lingered on their skin, and in their Force Sight. The walls were etched with intricate, twisted symbols that pulsed with otherworldly energy, and the air was heavy with the sickly-sweet scent of ancient incense. As they approached, the sigils flared lighting their descent.

As he navigated the twisting corridors of the temple, Tyson was suddenly confronted with a sight that chilled him to his very core. A being that somehow avoided his tricorder and HALO.

Standing before him was a figure - a mirror image of his own form. He was clad in Mandalorian armor of a different style from his own, but no less intimidating.

Tyson's heart pounded in his chest as he raised his weapon to defend himself, but the dark figure did not make an aggressive move. He held his ground. The man's hands slowly rose to remove his helmet revealing a smile and eyes gleaming with a cold, malevolent light. His face shared base features with Tyson's like a twisted twin whose path diverged. This Tyson's head held ridges, a strange pattern similar to those of a Klingon or a Cardassian, perhaps a mix of both. His eyes were unmistakably yellow, was it the taint of the Dark Side, or were those the mechanical eyes of a Soong android?

The greatest deviation… His chin sported a thick goatee. That defining characteristic alone marked him as evil.

"You look weak," the dark doppelganger commented as he stepped forward. Behind him were several figures kneeling in supplication and some were wearing collars. Slave collars? They were in various states of dress but shared one similar characteristic; they were all females. Troi and Yar were the first he noticed. Troi was in a beautiful dress that accentuated her curves while Yar wore a sleeveless Starfleet uniform. But there were others he didn't immediately recognize, a thick purple haze hiding their forms. From the ones he could see, there was a blue-skinned Twi'lek and a Vulcan woman, that wasn't T'Pol, among them.

One of the kneeling women caught his eye. She was the clearest of them all. Her Force Presence was a beacon within his Force Sight. She seemed to be channeling the Force, enhancing, linking the doppelganger and all the kneeling women. Her back was straight and her hands clasped together. Her hair was styled in a high bun, with loose strands framing her face. Her outfit was a form-fitting jumpsuit, the beige-yellow fabric that accented her figure, which was covered in areas by a brown tabard-like leather armor. Tyson noticed the lightsaber at her side, a sleek double-bladed weapon with its twin blades disengaged.

Tyson returned to the present when his twin spoke, "Now you're beginning to see all the opportunities you had. You didn't even try to stay in the holodeck, did you? I can sense your confusion." His double continued to taunt him, "You are the weakest Gamer I've ever seen."

Tyson's mind raced as he tried to make sense of what he was seeing. Was this some sort of trick, some illusion brought on by the Dark Side of the Force? A test like Luke experienced on Dagobah? But he didn't have any more time to consider as the dark figure lunged forward. When their blades met, Tyson knew that this was no mere apparition.

His blue lightsaber met the man's purple. Tyson successfully blocked, but his safety was momentary as the man reached out with his other hand and grabbed Tyson's forearm. Tyson hadn't expected the move, but was further unbalanced when purple energy, the identical color of his lightsaber, began pouring into Tyson's arm. Was this a Force power of some kind? Akin to Force Lightning perhaps. But the strange miasma caused Tyson no pain.

Retreat was Tyson's best option. He pushed against his twin, not in an attempt to overpower him, but to use his doppelganger as a wall. The shove wasn't meant to push his twin away, it was to push Tyson backward, granting him the space he sought. His wings unfurled to stabilize his impromptu retreat.

"What are you some kind of fucking fairy?" mocked the doppelganger.

With a fierce cry, Tyson launched himself at the dark mirror, his weapon slashing through the air in a flurry of deadly blows. His cortosis longsword manifested into his offhand from his Inventory, but the blade didn't disable the lightsaber of dark Tyson.

His assault made no headway against the mirror version of himself. It was a master of the dark side, and each attack seemed to fuel its power, making it stronger with every passing moment. As the battle raged on, Tyson could feel the influence of his double growing, his willpower slowly being sapped away by the relentless onslaught of his dark twin. He knew that he was fighting a losing battle, but he refused to give up - refused to let the darkness consume him.

In the end, it was a desperate move that saved Tyson. The Gamer believed this foe must be his own darkness made manifest - a twisted, Corrupted version of himself, born of his own deepest fears of inadequacy and darkest desires.

As his dark mirror charged at him for what seemed like the final blow, instead of meeting his assault, Tyson turned his blade on himself.

Perk Activated: Direct Control Disruption

Tyson turned his lightsaber and stabbed directly through his own gut. The impromptu seppuku left no mark on the Gamer. But his doppelganger stumbled in its charge, falling to its knees.

Tyson looked down on what he could become, "Man, I really went full villain. Taking slaves, monologuing, thinking I'm doing good when I'm obviously the bad guy." Shaking his head, he continued, "This must be the part where I'm supposed to envy what I could've been, or be intimidated by your success and my lost potential, but looking at you… Nah, I'm good. But thanks for the tip about the Instant Dungeons."

With a flick of his wrist, the hilt still protruding from his stomach made a full rotation. The dark mirror's torso was split in two. The arcane sigils etched into the walls burst in an explosion of blinding light in the darkness. When the light faded, Tyson found himself standing alone in the darkened chamber, his dark mirror nowhere to be seen. But even as he caught his breath and looked around him, he knew that the darkness still lurked... Waiting to be unleashed once more.

Moments later he was rejoined by Visas Marr. She didn't speak, but Tyson could feel the pride radiating from the Miraluka. Somehow she knew what he experienced and approved, maybe even admired his success. As they moved deeper into the temple, the sounds of their footsteps echoed loudly against the stone walls, a stark contrast to the oppressive silence that surrounded them. It was as if the very air had been sucked out of the temple, leaving only the sound of their breathing and the soft rustle of their clothes.

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

The darkness grew thicker, wrapping around them like a cloak, and Tyson and Visas could feel the weight of centuries of malevolent energy bearing down on them. They pressed on, their eyes peeled for any sign of danger, their senses sharpened by the ominous aura that permeated the temple.

Tyson detected the first of the enemies ahead. The lone enemy was hiding their presence in the Force; its location was only revealed by the scans of HALO. But before they reached the room with the hidden Sith, another creature stumbled down the hallway toward them. But it was not alone. They came from the side passage and behind pillars where they lay in wait. Suddenly, Tyson and Visas were surrounded by a horde.

Melee: Bite +5 (1d6+3) plus Infection
Species Traits: Fortitude Bonus (+5), Hard to Injure, Infection, Moan, Natural Armor (+3), Nonliving, Sense the Living, Shambling

The creatures shambled towards them with a haunting moan, their eyes glowing with an unholy light. The duo's strong will allowed them to stand strong, where others would have fled at the sight of the undead abominations.

Visas drew her lightsaber, the crimson blade hissing to life. Tyson followed suit, gripping his phaser tightly in his off-hand.

The first wave of zombies lunged toward them, their decaying hands clawing at the air. Visas leaped forward, her lightsabers a blur as she hacked through the creatures. Blasts of light from Tyson's phasers illuminated the dark temple. The Vulcan phaser did enough damage to vaporize areas it hit and killed the zombies outright. But for every zombie they dispatched, two more took its place. Visas and Tyson fought on, their faces set in stone as they battled against the endless tide of undead. Blood splattered against the walls as they cut down zombie after zombie, the sickly stench of rotting flesh filling the air.

With Tyson providing cover fire, the two danced through the zombies, taking no damage but leaving a macabre scene behind them.

Until Tyson detected something large heading their way. The undead horde prompted Tyson to adjust his scanners to detect movement instead of life signs. The creature heading their way was far larger than the zombies and moving too fast to be one of them.

Devour: If a Rathtar hits with its Bite attack against a Medium or smaller opponent, it can automatically make a Grapple check with its Bite attack at its full bonus.

Visas and Tyson raised their weapons once again, but they knew that this fight would be different. The Rathtar was no mindless zombie. The beast lunged towards them, its tentacles whipping through the air like living whips. Visas dodged to the side, her lightsabers humming as she slashed through the creature's flesh. Tyson fired his phaser, the bolts striking the creature's hide with a deafening crack.

Visas v. Rathtar: Lightsaber = Success, 15 Damage (77/132)
Visas v. Rathtar: Lightsaber = Success, 10 Damage (67/132)

The Rathtar's massive form shook the ground as it charged toward them once again. The creature's tentacles wrapped around Tyson, pulling him towards its gaping maw. Visas felt the weight of dread settle in her chest. With a fierce cry, she sliced through the creature's tentacles, freeing Tyson from its grasp. But the Rathtar was not so easily defeated. It lunged towards them once again, its jaws snapping like a trap.

Visas and Tyson fought with a desperation born of fear. The Rathtar hadn't done much damage, the creature wasn't a match for the Jedi pair, but it was a terrifying creature to behold.

Blood flowed freely from the Rathtar's wounds, but still, they fought on, their will to survive was unbreakable. In the end, it was Visas who landed the final blow, her lightsaber plunging deep into the Rathtar's flesh. The creature let out a final roar, its massive form crashing to the ground.

Rathtar Defeated

All of the undead and monstrous creatures in the area were defeated. Visas was sitting for a break when Tyson suddenly raised his phaser and fired it at her. The Miraluka had no time to react, but the bolt missed.. Purposely. It hit someone behind her. She hadn't heard any shuffling zombies and hadn't felt a presence in the Force.

Upgrading his suit internals was paying dividends. As harrowing as the battle with the Rathtar had been, it was an obvious distraction, the creature was no match for two Jedi. During the battle, one of Tyson's marked targets had been approaching slowly. His presence was masked by the Force, but he couldn't hide from HALO's sensors.

Visas didn't have any skill at dual wielding, so Tyson took the Assassin's red lightsaber. Master with your Hands would let him use the second weapon with no penalty. The enemies they'd been fighting in the Sith temple were right in Tyson's sweet spot. The point where they were strong enough to give him skill increases, but not so difficult that he was ineffective. Not only were the skill-ups a great boon, but his enemies also offered up useful traits for Power Eater.

Perk Activated: Power Eater

The Rathtar surprisingly offered nothing besides tentacles as additional appendages. Tyson passed on that even though they gave a +10 bonus to grapple checks. His mirror-self would probably be into something like that, but Tyson was already strange enough looking with his wings. However, as was becoming a habit, Tyson inventoried some of its blood in case it could be handy in the future.

The Twi'lek assassin had two force powers Tyson had to choose between, Mind Trick and Surge. The Gamer loved Surge as it was cool and the closest thing to an obvious superpower, but the Mind Trick was too good to pass on. He also had Rapid Strike, which increased damage at the cost of accuracy. Not a bad option, but long-term wasn't as strong as Mind Trick and wouldn't be useful against Palpatine.

Force Power Acquired!
Mind Trick
You use The Force to alter a target's perceptions or plant a suggestion in its mind. Make a Use the Force check. If you equal or exceed the target's Will Defense, you may choose one of the following effects:
1. Distract the target enabling you to use the Stealth skill even if the target is aware of you.
2. You make an otherwise unpalatable suggestion seem completely reasonable to the target. You must be able to communicate with the target, and the suggestion can't obviously threaten the target's life. The target won't realize later that what they did is unacceptable. You may spend a Force Point to improve the target's reputation by one step, plus one additional step for every 5 points by which your Use the Force check exceeds the target's Will Defense.

Tyson examined the corpse of one of the Sith Zombies. Medical scans indicated that they did indeed have a transmittable virus, luckily it was easily curable with standard antiviral treatment. Adding the traits from the zombies was a no-brainer. The infection was easily cured when Tyson consumed the drops of blood.

Zombies do not need to eat, breathe, or sleep. They are immune to Poison, Disease, Radiation, Vacuum, Mind-Affecting effects, Stunning effects, and any non-corrosive atmospheric hazards. Additionally, zombies gain a Natural Armor bonus of +3 and a +5 bonus to their Fortitude Defense.

Trait Added
Hard to Injure
Since only a direct attack on the central nervous system will harm a zombie, they are always considered as having Cover while being attacked at range. This is negated by Aiming or the Sniper feat.

Power Eater gave him the bonuses, and the negative effects were separate, optional, making no downsides. Nonliving was different from Undead. There was no negative intelligence or physiological downsides like not being healable or weakness to holy items, etc. Also, Tyson didn't have to select any of the visual traits, no decaying or pale, sallow skin for this Gamer.

Finally, they reached the temple proper: a massive entry chamber lit by flickering, blood-red torches that cast an eerie glow across the room. The walls were lined with ancient artifacts and arcane instruments, all imbued with a dark, ominous power that seemed to pulse with malevolent energy. A grand staircase let the way further inside, but in the foyer stood three Sith, their red lightsabers already active.

Hit Points: 53
Melee: Lightsaber +7 (2d8+6)
Force Power (Use the Force +8): Battle Strike, Dark Rage, Wound

Tyson and Visas stood in silence for a moment, before the Gamer stepped forward and spread his arms wide, and asked, "So how do we do this, me versus the kids first, then the wannabe?"

Use the Force Check {Mind Trick} (DC: 23): 28 Major Success!
Use the Force Skill Increased! (14)

"Kill him" ordered the Apprentice, standing back to let the students attack Tyson. The Gamer smirked.

Tyson shot the first apprentice before he entered lightsaber range. The students had no training in Deflect, so they couldn't Use the Force to block his phaser. The blast caught the student in the chest. He failed to block Tyson's perfectly placed lightsaber strike when he entered melee range, ending his life before he ever had a chance to fight back.

Tyson v. Student 1: Vulcan Phaser = Success, 30 Damage (23/53)
Tyson v. Student 1: Lightsaber = Critical Success, 42 Damage (0/53)

Tyson stored his phaser and pulled out the lightsaber he'd looted from the Sith Assassin earlier. Now wielding two blades, he engaged in a melee offensive against the student. The Student managed to block one of Tyson's blades, but the other struck true, landing a glancing hit.

Tyson v. Student 2: Lightsaber = Major Success, 11 Damage (42/53)

In the second exchange, Tyson scored two more hits and successfully blocked the return strike.

Tyson v. Student 2: Lightsaber = Major Success, 18 Damage (24/53)
Tyson v. Student 2: Lightsaber = Major Success, 16 Damage (8/53)
Tyson v. Student 2: Lightsaber = Major Success, 19 Damage (0/53)
Use the Force Skill Increased! (15)

Now Tyson stood facing the Sith Apprentice, having not taken a single hit against the two students. He made a come-hither gesture and the Apprentice charged. He made two swift attacks against Tyson, the first missing and the second blocked by Tyson's left-handed lightsaber. Tyson's first return strike was blocked, but the second scored a clean hit on the Apprentice.

Tyson v. Apprentice: Lightsaber = Major Success, 12 Damage (68/80)

In their second exchange, the Apprentice again missed and his second strike was blocked, while both of Tyson's attacks hit, doing significant damage.

Apprentice v. Tyson: Lightsaber = Block
Tyson v. Apprentice: Lightsaber = Success, 16 Damage (52/80)
Tyson v. Apprentice: Lightsaber = Major Success, 19 Damage (33/80)

The Apprentice's frustration grew and he used Dark Rage, channeling the Dark Side into his attacks, making them more accurate. Tyson still managed to block his first attack, but the second penetrated his defenses dealing minor damage to the Gamer. On his return attacks, one of Tyson's strikes was blocked, while the second hit left the Apprentice near death.

Apprentice v. Tyson: Lightsaber = Major Success, 5 Damage (655/660)
Tyson v. Apprentice: Lightsaber = Success, 19 Damage (14/80)

Again the Apprentice channeled the Dark Side into his attacks, but Tyson channeled the Force and blocked both strikes. The Apprentice managed to block Tyson's off-hand attack, but his blue lightsaber stabbed through the Apprentice's chest, killing him.

Tyson stored the three additional lightsabers and used the dermal-regenerator to heal the minor burn the Apprentice scored through his Mandalorian armor. He wasn't using his shield because he wanted to do as much as he could to hone his skills and didn't want to risk the shield generator being damaged before reaching Palpatine. Tyson doubted these mooks would be able to score a hit through the improved shield, but he also hadn't believed Visas would've gotten through the first iteration either.

Tyson had been avoiding picking up Dark Side powers, but the second Sith Student's blood didn't offer any alternatives, additionally, the increased attack could be helpful against the wily Sith Lord, Palpatine.

The Gamer could feel the malevolent power of the Sith Lords who had once called this place home. Undaunted, he pressed on, his eyes scanning the rows of ancient artifacts that lined the walls of the temple. He knew that he was searching for something specific, something that would help him in his quest to defeat the forces of the dark side. And then he saw it. A glimmer of something in the far corner of the room caught his eye, and he moved toward it. As he approached, he saw that the object was an ancient tome, bound in dark leather and adorned with intricate gold filigree. The cover pulsed with otherworldly energy, and he knew that he had found something valuable.

Vitiate's Compendium of Sith Alchemy
Legendary
This tome of immense power and knowledge was written by the Dark Lord of the Sith himself. Contained within the pages of the Compendium are secrets of Sith alchemy that have been lost to time, the knowledge that has been carefully guarded by the most powerful of the Sith Lords. With this tome in their possession, a user can tap into the dark side of the Force to manipulate and control the very essence of life itself. Requires Sith Alchemy.

He reached out and took the tome in his hands, feeling its weight and power. The pages seemed old and brittle, but Tyson knew well the toughness of legendary items after testing his staff. Reading the text was an exercise in frustration, even his Universal Translator perk couldn't reveal the meaning behind the scribbles and arcane symbols. He recognized the item as the trap that it was. His last Legendary item had been of varying use because he didn't have the skills to fully utilize it. If he didn't complete the quest, this one would be useless. He'd need to kill the Senator to gain Sith Alchemy as a bonus reward. He didn't like being railroaded down a specific path, but a legendary item was a damn enticing carrot.

Visas and Tyson made their way up the grand staircase, which led into a second antechamber, this one held three sith as well. Two registered similar in power to the one Tyson had just defeated, while the third was a step more powerful. The more powerful Sith had brown leathery skin and horns. The two weaker Apprentices looked like twins from a race that Tyson didn't recognize, but Observe helpfully supplied information as well as the stats for the stronger apprentice

Caasmasi
Natives of the Core World of Caamas usually possess great moral strength and deep respect for others. Caamasi's bodies are tall, lean, and covered in down. They have long arms with thin, three-fingered hands. All Caamasi can create vivid telepathic memories called Memnii, which can be shared with others of their Species

Tyson once again stepped in front of Visas, mumbling, "Save your strength." and pointed at the Sith arrayed against him, "Which of you ugly motherfuckers is up first."

One of the Caasmasi stepped forward, igniting his crimson blade. Tyson activated Dark Rage and Battle Strike. And waited for the Sith to make the first strike.

Use the Force Check {Mind Trick} (DC: 25): 30 Major Success!
Use the Force Skill Increased! (19)

Tyson blocked the Caasmasi Sith's first attack, but the second scored a glancing blow. On his return volley, he realized the Caasmasi somehow wasn't trained in blocking with the lightsaber. All of Tyson's attacks penetrated the Sith's defenses and he was left on the ground in multiple pieces.

Tyson once again activated Dark Rage and Battle Strike and waited for his next opponent's attack.

The second Caasmasi lasted less time than the first and Tyson again activated his pre-battle buffs to fight the last remaining Sith Apprentice. He stored the red lightsaber in his Inventory, he wanted to make this battle last, it was the last chance he would have to gain skills before the fight against Palpatine.

Tyson v. Apprentice: Lightsaber = Success, 12 Damage (76/98)
Tyson v. Apprentice: Lightsaber = Success, 38 Damage (38/98)

The air in the dark and damp hangar was filled with the sound of humming lightsabers as Tyson and the Sith Apprentice clashed in a deadly dance of blades. Sparks flew as they moved around each other, the Apprentice's eyes burning with a hunger for power. Their blades met again and again, each strike a test of strength and skill. Tyson's defense was impeccable, blocking each of the Apprentice's strikes with ease. But the young Sith was relentless, pressing the attack with a ferocity that threatened to overwhelm the Jedi.

With a flick of his wrist, Tyson's lightsaber sliced through the air, landing a devastating blow on the Apprentice's shoulder. The young man cried out in pain, but he wasn't finished. He retaliated with renewed vigor, their blades meeting in a shower of sparks. As they fought, the Force surged through them, guiding their every move. Tyson's connection to the Force strengthened with each passing moment, his senses heightened to the point where he could feel the Apprentice's every move before he made it.

Their blades met once more, and this time Tyson's attack was too much for the young Sith to handle. With a swift motion, he disarmed the Apprentice sending his lightsaber spinning away with his hand and forearm still attached. Another spin and slash had the torso joining the arm on the ground.

Tyson added 3 more lightsabers to his Inventory and again used Power Eater.

Sith Apprentice Defeated

Perk Activated: Power Eater
Trait Acquired
Demand Surrender
Once per encounter, you can make a Social check to demand surrender from an opponent who has been reduced to one-half or less of its hit points. If your check result equals or exceeds the target's Will Defense, it surrenders to you and your allies, drops any weapons it is holding, and takes no hostile actions. If the target is higher level than you, it gains a +5 bonus to its Will Defense.

Multiattack Proficiency (Lightsabers) (2)
Whenever you make multiple attacks with any type of Lightsaber as part of a Full Attack, you reduce the penalty on your attack rolls by 2.

From the higher level Sith Apprentice, Tyson took Demand Surrender. It would give him another option to de-escalate and it used his high Social skill to do so. He considered taking Rebuke, but in the upcoming fight it wouldn't make a difference, Palpatine's Use the Force skill had enough of a gap on Tyson's to make it unreliable. At least with Demand Surrender, there was a chance he could get Palpatine to give up, fulfilling one of the bonus objectives.

Oh, he pulled back out his Gamer Checklist.

Talk no Jutsu - Check

When he used Power Eater on the twins, he was surprised that he was offered the same trait twice. Multiattack Proficiency would lower the penalty from making multiple attacks, by taking it twice, Tyson gained double the benefit. He could now make four attacks in a round, all at a -1 penalty.

It was time for final preparations; Tyson tapped the Federation combadge attached to the exterior of his uniform, "Tyson to Lore."

"Go ahead, Tyson."

"Can you examine the scanner data since I've entered, can you confirm my readings that the main target hasn't moved?"

"Confirmed, the main target has not moved more than 10 meters since you entered the temple."

"Alright, there's going to be a slight change of plans. Can you have T'Pol search the readings we have of this place and find whatever passes for environmental controls, ventilation, or a similar system hub?"

"One moment…"

T'Pol's soothing voice came over the communicator, "Back to the first antechamber, three levels down."

Tyson crept back through the Sith Temple, following T'Pol's directions. As he moved deeper into the dark heart of the temple, he came into the room with the environmental controls and air scrubbers that maintained the atmosphere within the temple walls. Without hesitation, Tyson set to work, his fingers flying over the control panels as he hacked into the complex systems that governed the temple's atmosphere.

This new plan he was in the process of executing was simple. Tyson noticed that this entire temple experience had the feel of a dungeon. Not an Instanced Dungeon like the holodeck, more like a traditional dungeon crawl. When he and Visas entered, they came across an… illusion trap. Afterward they were ambushed. Then they fought a few groups of disposable minions. At the end of the temple the boss waited.

Waited..

Palpatine wasn't a waiter. He was a schemer, a planner, a mastermind. Why would he act like this, if it wasn't some system manipulation? So Tyson would take advantage of the situation and set a trap of his own. Was that cheating? Maybe. But if you aren't cheating, you aren't trying.

A wicked grin crossed Tyson's face as the systems opened up to his Computers skill. It took a bit of time to examine, the systems were far different from Federation technology. He discussed his plan with T'Pol, and though she wasn't a doctor, he could confirm that the plan he had in mind might work. She also explained the process for executing it on an Earth or Vulcan ship, unfortunately, Tyson had to rely more on his skill than her direction.

It was a simple system. Carbon dioxide was abundant in the lower levels. There were few inhabitants to produce it and fewer plants to recycle it. The prevalence was mostly due to all the pollution and waste gas. The temple's scrubbers broke down the CO2 using Hydrogen.

Tyson made a series of quick adjustments to the system's settings, reprogramming the air scrubbers to convert carbon dioxide into carbon monoxide instead of oxygen.

Carbon monoxide was a deadly, colorless gas that attacked the body at the cellular level. CO binds to the hemoglobin in red blood cells and prevents the transport of oxygen to vital organs.

Before Tyson could enact this new plan, he needed Visas to leave. He had multiple layers of protection against the deadly gas; the Nonliving trait, Your Hands Clean aura, and his armor would all protect him. She had none of those, and he couldn't give up his armor if he planned to face Palpatine.

"Visas," he said in a regretful tone, "You have to leave."

Visas looked at him, her eyes filled with concern. "I will not leave you, Tyson. You know that."

"I know," Tyson said, taking her hand. "But I need you to trust me. I can't face Palpatine with you here."

Visas hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Very well," she said. "I will leave the temple, but I will not abandon you, Tyson. You are my light. My hope in the darkness. But you must promise me that you will return to me, no matter what."

"I promise," Tyson reassured.

With that, Visas turned and left the temple, her steps echoing loudly in the empty corridors. Tyson watched her go, unable to stop his eyes as he marveled at the curves of her body.

Lore spoke over the comms, "I have to admit, I didn't see the whole 'falling in love with a blind nun thing coming. This is better than a soap opera. I bet you're both looking forward to getting away from all this fighting and just spending some quality time together, really seeing the sights of Coruscant."

"Lore.." Tyson growled warningly.

But the android continued undeterred, "You know what they say: 'Love conquers all', except for maybe a Sith Lord and his minions. Do you think the Senator will be impressed by your display of affection? I'm sure he's a real sucker for romance."

Tyson sighed, then blanched when he realized T'Pol was still on the comms as well. "I understand that humans may have different emotional and physical needs than Vulcans. It is not my place to impose my cultural values on you, nor to dictate the parameters of our relationship based solely on my perspective."

"However," she continued, her tone even and uninflected, "It is essential that we both fully comprehend the consequences of such an arrangement. If you were to pursue a second relationship, we must consider the potential impact on our bond and the stability of our partnership. Dr. Phlox had multiple wives. Perhaps we should investigate Denobulan mating practices."

Lore interjected, "How fascinating that you Vulcans pride yourselves on being devoid of emotion, yet here we are discussing matters of the heart."

T'pol paused, perhaps saying something to Lore off-coms that Tyson couldn't hear before continuing, "I suggest we engage in a thorough analysis of the advantages and disadvantages, as well as any potential risks, before making a decision. We must ensure that our actions adhere to the principles of logic and reason, rather than allowing ourselves to be swayed by transient emotions."

"An analysis of advantages and disadvantages? How very romantic. I'm sure Tyson appreciates the methodical approach you bring to matters of love. It's truly remarkable how you manage to make even the most intimate conversations sound like a dissertation on Vulcan ethics. Your ability to detach yourself from emotion is truly... noteworthy."

"Thank you," replied T'Pol. Lore scoffed, and Tyson facepalmed.

Tyson activated the changes to the environmental controls. The air within the temple began to shift and change according to the sensors, but it was undetectable to the senses. Tyson felt a sick thrill of power surge through him and his heartbeat began elevating. It was time to face down a Sith Lord.

"Lore, I'll be engaging shortly, please monitor the battle and be prepared to enact our backup plans on my mark."

"Understood. "

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

The air was thick with tension as Tyson approached the throne of Palpatine in the heart of the Sith temple on Coruscant. The disgraced Senator had been awaiting their arrival, his twisted form perched on the throne like a spider waiting for its prey.

Tyson could feel the weight of the Sith Lord's power as he entered the throne room, his every step was heavy with the knowledge that he was facing one of the most dangerous beings in the galaxy.

Sheev Palpatine (Lvl 20)
Defenses: Ref: 35, Fort: 34, Will: 38; Block, Deflect

Palpatine watched him with a sly smile, his eyes glittering with dark amusement. "Ah, the Jedi Padawan, here alone? Where is your blind companion? You're a brave one, aren't you? Or perhaps just foolish."

Tyson didn't respond. He knew better than to give the Sith Lord any advantage. The words he spoke would be wasted. The only language that Palpatine understood was that of power.

Palpatine chuckled, his lips twisting into a sinister grin. "I must say, I'm impressed. You've faced down zombies, Rathtar, and even a few of my apprentices. But you won't find me so easy to defeat."

Tyson loosened his grip on his lightsaber and relaxed his defensive posture. If the Sith Lord wanted to banter, he'd banter, "I must admit, I never expected to see you again after you fled from my grasp. But it seems fate has a way of bringing us back together."

"Do you remember our last encounter? You were surrounded by allies, and now you're alone. In the center of my power." A dark grin crossed the Sith's face. "You've been a thorn in my side. You cannot realize how much trouble you've caused. Once I'm done with you, I'll take your Miraluka to replace the apprentices you killed."

Tyson tried to make as much concern leak through the modulated voice of his armor, "You want to fight me? Fine. But leave Visas out of it. She's done nothing to deserve your wrath, she has nothing to do with this. I'll fight you to the end to protect her."

"Your love for her is a weakness. But it doesn't have to be. With the power of the Dark Side, you can use that love to fuel your strength. Let me teach you how to harness your emotions and use them to your advantage. The Jedi would have you believe that attachments are bad, Tyson. But I say they are the key to true power. They want you to deny your feelings, to suppress your passions. But as a Sith, you can embrace your emotions. Join me, and together we will rule the galaxy as master and apprentice."

Tyson stood for a minute, not speaking while he considered the Sith Lord's offer. When he believed he was reaching the end of Palpatine's patience, he disengaged his lightsaber and knelt before the throne. Palpatine erupted in evil, earsplitting laughter. "I can sense the power within you. With my guidance, you will become the most powerful being in the galaxy."

The Sith Lord rose to anoint his new apprentice, and stumbled, having to reach out for the throne to steady himself. Tyson stood, savoring Palpatine's look of confusion.

"Are you feeling alright, milord? Can I get you anything?"

The Sith snarled, "What have you done?"

Tyson cheekily replied, "Feeling a little light-headed there, Senator? Are you sure it's not just the power of the dark side that's making you dizzy?"

Palpatine laughed, his voice was cold and mocking. "Oh, so noble, so righteous. But your actions place you closer to the Dark Side than you realize."

Tyson's mind was assaulted with images of the dark version of himself standing over all the kneeling women. Palpatine's eyes flashed with malevolence as he launched himself forward, engaging his lightsaber with a probing strike toward Tyson. Despite his attack, the Sith continued bantering. "The dark side is about breaking rules, you're already started giving in."

Tyson blocked the strike, the sound of their weapons became background noise as Lore spoke over the coms, "I find it baffling that he's still talking. I don't think he's just talking because he likes the sound of his own voice anymore, Tyson. Maybe it's the carbon monoxide talking."

Tyson mumbled, "Not helpful."

The two combatants circled each other. The air was thick with tension, or was that poisonous gas? The only sound was the hum of their lightsabers as they clashed together. Tyson blocked the blow, his verbal jabs more successful than his lightsaber thrusts. "I'll never embrace the dark side. It's not who I am."

Palpatine sneered, his eyes burning with hatred. "Then you'll die trying. The light always fades eventually. It's only a matter of time."

Negative Status Effect
Carbon Monoxide Poisoning: This character has been exposed to moderate levels of carbon monoxide and begins to experience more severe symptoms such as confusion, nausea, and shortness of breath.
Stage 2: -5 Fortitude and Will Defense.

Tyson could feel Palpatine accessing the Force, manipulating the vast energies around his head, using an unknown ability to protect himself from the undetectable gas. The Gamer engaged Battle Strike for the first exchange. The Gamer spent a Force Point when he activated Dark Rage so the effect would persist for the entire engagement. He wielded his Cortosis sword and blue lightsaber.

Tyson v. Palpatine: Cortosis Sword = Block, Lightsaber Disabled, 17 Damage (379/396)
Tyson v. Palpatine: Lightsaber = Success, 19 Damage (360/396)

Tyson's plan was simple. He charged the Sith Lord, striking with his Cortosis weapon first. Doing so, if he was successful would force the Sith to block. But when Palpatine blocked the weapon it disabled his lightsaber. Tyson would then meet Palpatine's return attack with the Cortosis weapon, negating any further attacks from the Sith.

In their second exchange, Palpatine failed to dodge or block Tyson's sword and his follow-up lightsaber strike. The first slash made it past the Sith's guard doing minor damage, but his second missed. The Sith Lord channeled Dark Rage into his strikes, to match Tyson's furious strikes evenly. Palpatine's attack was once again blocked by Tyson's cortosis sword, disengaging the lightsaber blade.

Tyson v. Palpatine: Lightsaber = Success, 29 Damage (260/396)
Palpatine v. Tyson: Force Lightning = Success, 26 Damage (620/660)

Palpatine didn't re-engage his lightsaber, instead raising his hand at Tyson and releasing a burst of lightning. Tyson failed to raise his sword to block the blast, but a portion of the damage was mitigated by the Mandalorian armor. The damage wasn't what concerned the Gamer. The lightning left him feeling weak and vulnerable.

Skipping straight to Stage 2 was especially concerning. "Lore, is Plan B ready?"

"Ready on your mark."

"If I take a direct hit with lightning again, Mark."

"Understood."

The armor muffled his words when he was in coms, so Palpatine had no idea of Tyson's preparations.

"You're good with a lightsaber, but your strength cannot match me, boy."

After Tyson's successful strikes, he felt a crushing weight, as if gravity had multiplied. He was forced onto the ground by the Sith's Telekinesis. Palpatine used his prodigious talent to raise both hands and expel the wrath of a Sith Lord onto Tyson through Force Lightning. The Gamer was left convulsing on the ground, unable to act or defend himself. Tyson felt the darkness begin to creep into his senses as he saw the particle stream of a Federation transporter envelope him.

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

Sheev Palpatine felt victory within his grasp. The Padawon he'd been battling had been skilled in the lightsaber. Not so much that he was a match for the Sith, but his blasted Cortosis sword closed the gap between their ability. Every time the fledgling Jedi blocked one of his strikes, it disabled Palpatine's own weapon. The Sith was forced to shift to using Force Lightning to defeat him, but the Cortosis weapon was effective at dissipating his Force ability as well. Combined with the Beskar armor, Sheev was stalemated, losing even. But you can't block when you can't raise your weapon. The Senator channeled his rage and used the Force to smother the Padawan to the ground. Stuck on his back, the man couldn't raise his sword to block, and the Sith let loose his most powerful blast of lightning. Channeling so much Force energy at once placed a significant drain on his Force reserves, but seeing the man left curled like a babe and helpless energized the dark lord.

That was until he was surrounded by a blue nimbus and swirling particles. He hadn't sensed anything in the Force, so it wasn't an attack, but when his vision cleared he was in a different location. Instead of the temple, he found himself in a clearing probably still on the lower levels. The acrid, charged air indicated a power generation level. But his main concern was all the enemies arrayed against him. The Sith found himself surrounded by the forces of the Trade Federation droid army. Around him in a ring stood a group of droideka, with hundreds of battle droids backing them. On the outskirts of the sea of droids floated tanks, all with weapons trained on him.

As he finished his assessment of the battlefield, the defeated Padawan was engulfed in another blue nimbus and disappeared. As if that was a signal, the droids all opened fire.

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

Tyson was barely conscious as he was transported to the sickbay of the Oberth-class ship. The battle with Palpatine had left him battered and broken, his body wracked with pain. He could barely move, barely even breathe. But even in his weakened state, he felt a glimmer of hope as he saw T'Pol and Visas Marr waiting for him.

"Tyson, can you hear me?" Visas asked, her voice filled with concern.

Tyson managed to nod weakly, the pain in his chest making it difficult to speak.

Visas Marr used Vital Transfer!

"You're going to be okay," Visas reassured him. T'Pol was using a tricorder to try to determine Tyson's injury, but the former Sith apprentice didn't hesitate. Visas began to use her Force powers to heal Tyson's injuries. Palpatine's lightning had left no marks on his body, but the pain felt deeper than anything he'd experienced in either of his lives. But under Visas's manipulations, Tyson could feel the pain slowly receding. It was as if she was giving him some of her life force, sacrificing her well-being for his.

"Thank you," Tyson managed to say as the pain began to ebb away.

"My life, for yours," Visas replied, her voice soft and gentle.

Tyson looked up at Visas, his eyes filled with gratitude and something more. At that moment he felt a deep and abiding bond that transcended words or actions. And now, as she had given him a piece of her life force, he knew that connection was stronger than ever. Visas smiled down at him, her expression filled with compassion and understanding.

Force Bond Established (Visas Marr)!
Force Bond
You have a connection to another individual through the Force. This bond allows you to sense the other's emotions, thoughts, and even physical sensations. When you and your bonded partner are within close proximity, you gain a heightened sense of awareness and combat proficiency. However, if one of you is in great peril, the other may experience intense emotional distress and even physical pain.

Negative Status Effect Removed!

Tyson felt normal, but his cleansing had come at a cost. Visas sacrificed half her health to heal him; she'd be useless in the continued assault on Palpatine. He gently but firmly guided her to rest on the biobed. He hugged T'Pol and gave her a quick kiss before leaving Sickbay.

"Lore, status?"

Lore's response was immediate. "He's tearing through our forces. The droids don't stand a chance."

Tyson felt a wave of despair wash over him. Palpatine was a formidable opponent, and the fact that he was carving his way through their forces with such ease was not a good sign.

"Damn it," he said, his voice strained. "I'll be re-engaging momentarily. Have Plan C ready on my mark. When we lock blades, have any forces with clear lines of fire open up on him."

"Understood."

Tyson emerged from the ship and surveyed the battlefield, his heart racing as he took in the carnage around him. The droid parts were scattered everywhere, twisted metal and sparking wires littering the ground like a gruesome mosaic. And there, in the midst of it all, was Palpatine, laughing maniacally, his crimson blade cutting through the droids like a futuristic game of whack-a-mole.

Tyson drew his own lightsaber and Cortosis sword again, but this time engaged his Improved Droideka Shield and charged toward the Sith Lord. Palpatine turned to face him, a wicked grin on his face as he raised his weapon to meet Tyson's attack.

Tyson v. Palpatine: Cortosis Sword = Major Success, 17 Damage (111/396)
Palpatine v. Tyson: Lightsaber = Absorbed, 0 Damage (552/660)
Palpatine v. Tyson: Force Slam = Major Success, 23 Damage (529/660)

Palpatine didn't bother trying to block Tyson's sword. The Senator realized that avoiding Gamer's strikes with the weapon were more effective than attempting to block and he wouldn't have to bother reactivating his weapon. Palpatine blocked Tyson's lightsaber strike and executed a follow-up strike, which would've hit the Gamer if his shield hadn't sprung to life absorbing the blow. The Sith was enraged and he unleashed the Force Slam again, forcing not only Tyson but all the droids behind him to the ground. All the B-1 battle droids caught in the blast area were destroyed outright. Almost 3 dozen were destroyed in that single attack, and Tyson was left forced to his knees.

Tyson v. Palpatine: Cortosis Sword = Major Success, 18 Damage (93/396)
Palpatine v. Tyson: Lightsaber = Critical Success, 86 Damage (443/660)
Shield Generator Destroyed!

With a sudden burst of speed, Palpatine lunged forward, his crimson blade piercing Tyson's shield with ease. The blow was devastating, tearing through the generator and impaling Tyson with a sickening thud.

For a moment, the two combatants were frozen in place. Tyson could feel the pain coursing through his body, his breath came in ragged gasps as he struggled to stay on his feet. But even as he faltered, Tyson refused to give up. He knew that the battle was not yet over, that there was still a chance to defeat Palpatine.

"Mark."

With Tyson's command, Lore activated Plan C. The blue nimbus engulfed both combatants again. Regardless of Palpatine's strength in the Force, he wasn't familiar with Federation transporters and had no knowledge of how to defend against them. The setting changed once more. This plan was a desperate gamble, but one that took advantage of Tyson's unique physiology.

The Oberth-class ship's transporters moved Tyson and Palpatine 200 miles straight up, about 140 miles outside of Coruscant's atmosphere.

Tyson swapped his Cortosis sword for the second lightsaber. He floated in space, surrounded by the void, his blue and red lightsabers ready to meet the Sith's red one. Whatever Force ability Palpatine used to breathe in the temple was still active, the vacuum not affecting the Senator outwardly. As the two combatants prepared to clash once again, Tyson knew he needed to end the fight. He didn't know what other Force tricks Palpatine had left and whether this environment would act to the Sith's advantage.

Perk Activated: The Anti-Worf Effect
The Anti-Worf Effect: Once every 24 hours, you can defeat a single significant foe. Any nearby enemies will be temporarily stunned in fear or awe of you. Any nearby allies will receive a morale boost given your actions. This effect can only be used to non-lethally disable an opponent. The duration they're disabled will vary based on the opponent's strength. Exceptionally strong, or enemies with supernatural abilities may only be disabled momentarily, while weak enemies can be disabled for hours or days.

As the two combatants clashed, Tyson could feel the Force flowing through him, guiding his every move. The moment he activated the perk, he gave over complete control of his body. Whether it was to The Force, Q, or just the perfected movements of his own psyche, the result was spectacular.

Tyson's wings fluttered, spinning The Gamer, raised his blades and brought them down staccato, one after the other. Palpatine raised his lightsaber, successfully blocking Tyson's first strike. But Tyson deactivated the blade of his second saber.

With a sudden quick movement, Tyson's lightsaber blade reactivated in mid-swing. Palpatine hesitated for a moment, caught off guard with his blade locked with Tyson's first, blue saber.

It was all the opening Tyson needed. His red lightsaber plunged through Palpatine's torso, literally disarming the Senator.

The Sith Lord gasped in shock and pain, his eyes widening as his arm floated off into space, still holding the lightsaber. Tyson wouldn't give Palpatine a chance to use any Force Powers or recover from the wound. His lightsabers made two more quick motions, slicing off the other arm, and both legs, leaving the Sith without any appendages or means for attacking.

Using his wings, he floated over to what was left of Senator Palpatine and injected him with Axanol, quickly forcing him to unconsciousness. He Inventoried the limbs and contacted Lore for transport.

~~Star Trek: TNG~~

Palpatine was unconscious in the makeshift bring. They'd had to create a poor knockoff since the Oberth didn't have an actual forcefield-enabled holding cell. But Tyson needed to calm himself before speaking to any of the crew. He'd run Dark Rage through the entire battle and the Dark Side still coursed through his body.

When he kneeled to meditate, his master's voice came to him once again, "Ah, Trakata. A rarely-used and dangerous technique. It is a form of lightsaber combat that requires precise timing and an expert level of skill. The wielder deactivates the blade mid-swing, allowing it to pass through an opponent's defenses, only to reactivate it at the precise moment to strike. It is a maneuver that few Jedi dare to use, for fear of its risks and potential consequences. But in the right hands, it can be a powerful tool in the fight against the dark side. Remember, my dear student, that the Force is not bound by any one particular technique or form. It is the wielder's will that guides it, and the strength of that will that determines the outcome of any battle."

Lightsaber Form Unlocked!
Form VIII: Trakata - By harnessing the unique characteristics of a Lightsaber, you can catch your opponent off guard by quickly shutting off and reigniting the blade. Trakata can only be used in conjunction with 'The Anti-Worf Effect Perk'.
Skill Unlocked! Lightsabers Max skill level Increased to Level 24.

AN: Last chapter wasn't particularly well received, which I understand. I'm an amateur and trying different things to see what sticks.

This chapter was also a departure from the norm, instead of just writing/playing, I plotted out the chapter and adjusted the plot points as the rolls dictated. So as a whole the chapter follows more of a traditional short story format. Next update won't be for 4 weeks because this one was a long one. But it'll be the conclusion of The Phantom Menace.

If you picked Visas Marr as the romantic interested, congrats on the promotion! I know one or two had mentioned her before it was revealed as TPM.

Question for Reviewers: Mirror-Tyson... an illusion trap? Force Premonition? or something else?

4 weeks is a long time to wait for the next chapter... If Mirror-Tyson gets a bunch of positive reviews perhaps, I'll give another glimpse Through the Looking Glass
