Angel's Light
Chapter 21
AN: Hello all it's been a while. Firstly as always thanks to everyone who reviewed the last chapter. I've actually had this one about half finished since sometime in December and decided to finish it up. I'll admit I feel like I'm a little out of practice and certain things I had planned on doing this chapter I pushed back because it just wasn't coming out right. Anyway that's all I have for now, here's the new chapter.
Start Now:
For Natasha Romanoff being an Avenger was a double-edged sword. On the one hand she was finally using her training and skills for something worthwhile as even S.H.I.E.L.D had been dubious in its use of her. Sure Fury had done his best to keep her on the straight path and out of wet work but there had also been times where her expertise had been required. Before that the KGB and its sub-division the Red Room had made judicious use of her molding her since her infancy to the person she'd grown to become. Even now despite her defection there was a part of her that held a love for the land of her birth.
With that in mind there was the other part of being an Avenger, fame, and celebrity. Most people confuse the two but few knew that there was a distinct difference. There were a bunch of people who were famous but not considered celebrities like the Wayne Family of Gotham, Reed Richards and Hank Pym all of whom were famous in their industries but not well known outside of them. Tony Stark however was a celebrity people knew his name worldwide and there were others such as movie stars and musicians who enjoyed a similar status. Since the public debut of the Avengers against the Chitauri in the Invasion of New York she had become a celebrity. There were posters, action figures, collectors statues all bearing her likeness, little girls and grown women both dressed up as her for Halloween. There were Avengers calendars both as a group and solo, magazine covers and the list went on.
That is all to say her face was very well known and as Loki had pointed out it had made it harder to do her job. Contrary to his opinion however she hadn't been aimless, just bored. Her celebrity status meant that S.H.I.E.L.D could no longer afford to use her in certain areas and that had been before Hydra had been exposed. Thankfully Jarvis had held her cover identities when they'd purged the S.H.I.E.L.D database of the Hydra secrets which meant she didn't have to work to craft new ones.
This meant that unlike her teammates she could go out and not be instantly recognized as amongst her skills had been disguise. With some make-up, a wig or hair dye she could blend with her surroundings quite easily which was why she was currently walking the streets of Russia in daylight unmolested. Of course it helped that January was the coldest month of the year in Russia and everyone was doing their best to reach their destinations and get out of the cold.
She reached hers soon enough and after hitting the buzzer she only had to wait for a few moments before it was answered, speaking the needed password the door was opened and she was allowed inside. She entered into an empty hallway and walked through the door on the other side where she was greeted by warmth. She entered into a lobby though empty aside from two people who were already standing behind a counter one male and one female with the male having an empty tray sitting in front of him.
Removing her coat and hat she handed them to the young woman who couldn't have been older than 17 judging by her appearance. Still the girl said nothing merely handing her a ticket before turning and walking off. The young man was a bit younger than the girl probably 15-16 but said nothing even as she removed her pistols, Glock 26's and set them on the tray, then the Sig P365 from her right ankle, a knife from her left ankle and the final knife from her bra strap. When she finished he gave her a look and she rolled up her sleeves showing she wasn't wearing her gauntlets getting a nod as he turned and walked away.
By this point the girl was back only now on her side of the counter and informed her that the Madam was waiting. She walked over to the doors ahead of them and opened one resembling a large theatre with empty seats. Despite this she could see a group of girls on the stage obviously rehearsing. The girl escorted her down to the front where another woman was already seated. This was another young woman, blonde and quick mental calculations told her she was 5'4" around the average height for a Russian woman and wore a pair of blue jeans and a cream sweater. Despite her apparent age however it was clear that everyone here deferred to this woman and as she approached the woman smiled lightly though didn't move even as Natasha came and sat next to her.
"Hello Natalia, it's good to see you again." Said the woman, her English thick with a Russian accent.
"Hello Yelena, sorry it's taken so long, I've been a bit busy." Said Natasha
"I'm aware. I saw the clips of the Invasion, then your fight against comrade Winter." Said Yelena and Natasha had to fight to hold in a wince.
"Not by choice, somehow Hydra got control of him." Said Natasha causing the blonde's nose to wrinkle in distaste.
"I figured something like that happened. I can't see him voluntarily trying to kill either of us." Said Yelena.
"That's another reason why I'm here. We've tracked him to Russia but I was hoping you could help narrow it down."
"Of course that's why you've come, it couldn't just be to see your sister." Said Yelena and though neither her expression nor tone had changed Natasha could tell she was disappointed.
"I also came to invite you to my wedding." Said Natasha stopping her cold.
"Your getting married, for real?" said the younger woman shocked.
"It's for real this time, not a cover." Said Natasha.
"Who is it?"
"Thor."
"Does he know you can't have children?" questioned Yelena.
"I can actually. I had to undergo a ritual, it made me Asgardian and as a bonus gave me back that ability." Said Natasha
"Does he know you're a whore?" Said Yelena.
"No."
There were a lot of things that Natasha was not proud of about her past and the murders she'd committed were just some of them. The Red Room had made her one of the worlds most deadly assassins, but it had also made her into a whore. There was a time when she had been treated as a party favor gifted to one general or another. She had slept with her targets, her superiors and even heads of state. Of course there was no one alive who remembered that aside from Yelena, who'd been through the same treatment often alongside her, she'd killed everyone who knew of it and she'd destroyed all of the evidence the latter of which had been quicker.
"How, don't you have Avengers gangbangs?" questioned Yelena.
"No. I haven't done that since I left." Said Natasha
"That's a bit of a letdown. Some of those fanfictions are kind of hot." Said Yelena
"Fanfiction? Do I even want to know?" questioned Natasha.
"I'll send you a list of my favorites." Said Yelena.
"You read stories about me having sex?"
"I live vicariously. Besides some of them are tame compared to the things we used to do." Said Yelena.
"Are you coming to the wedding or not?" questioned Natasha not wanting to dwell on that subject.
"Of course I'm coming."
The thing about going to a school as remote as Hogwarts was that it meant you basically lived in a bubble. Sure they got news from the outside world, but the school acted as something of a buffer and that had been before the recent changes. There was a saying that Hogwarts was the safest place in all of Magical Britain and for many that had been due to the presence of former Headmaster Albus Dumbledore. When Dumbledore retired his position it had created a bit of vulnerability in that saying which was soon bolstered not that anyone outside of the school board and faculty knew how. With McGonagall as Headmistress there was a greater focus on academics amongst the students that hadn't been seen in decades and a greater range of subjects to study because of it.
The month-long holiday had done wonders for the students and staff alike giving them time to bring down their stress levels from the constant grind that working under time compression had caused. The return to classes and the normal grind swiftly reminded the students of their priorities so much so that the newest additions to the Legend of Harry Potter had blown over quite swiftly. The fact that Harry had left Hogwarts with one betrothed in Daphne and come back to school with two more had been the talk of the school but had blown over soon enough.
While most who knew them including the staff were not surprised that Hermione would become Lady Potter nor the betrothal, many were surprised when the identity of his third betrothed was. Ginny had however not taken the news quite as well but both Daphne and Hermione had spoken to her about it and unknown to all of them it had come up as part of her ongoing mind healing sessions.
The students were soon distracted by their workload and while even now Harry could see small groups of girls huddled together giggling when he passed he'd learned to pay that no mind since his first year. The problem many of the students had discovered about how the school used time magic was that their coldest season had been extended. While they managed to skip December the months of January and February were also part of Scotland's coldest season and as such warm clothes and warming charms were seeing much greater usage especially as they still had classes that took them outdoors. For the students attending C.O.M.C this had become especially true as unlike Herbology and their physical education classes there was no building they would be retreating into.
Their schedules had seen a bit of shuffling around as the 3rd year Gryffindor's were now sharing the class with Slytherin whereas before the break they'd had it with Hufflepuff. Upon arriving they were all surprised to find not just Hagrid as they expected but Headmistress McGonagall as well as a couple of people from the Ministry specifically the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, two witches and a wizard. Despite this Hagrid was his usual jovial self upon greeting them.
"So today I have a bit of a treat for you all which also explains why these folk from the Ministry are here." Said Hagrid causing the students to perk up.
"The creature we are covering today is the Griffin." Said the professor much to the surprise of the students.
"Now as you all should well know the Griffin is heralded as the King of the Land and Sky. It is a hybrid creature with the front legs, wings and head of a giant eagle along with the body, hind legs, and tail of a lion. Now unlike Hippogriffs which we covered earlier this year the Griffin is capable of using magic and has an instinctive usage of it. Defensively it can harden the feathers and fur on its body creating a natural body armor stronger than steel and are immune to fire and lightning.
I once saw a Griffin fly through Gale level winds, something it is capable of thanks to its hardened feathers which are capable of cutting through the wind. They are a predatory species and as such very capable of hunting. They are also fiercely territorial and anything in its hunting grounds is pretty much considered prey, they can also release a screech or a sonic scream that has been known to disorient and even kill organic creatures including humans. For this reason the ICW has classified Griffins under the level 4x designation.
The reason they are not rated higher is that they are social creatures and can be domestic. They have often made friends with humans and other races and due to their nature have been known to act as guards around the world. They are noble creatures and like Hippogriffs should always be treated with respect. Now the Griffin we have today is special and has been provided to us by House Potter for this lesson." Said Hagrid much to Harry's surprise as he hadn't even known about this.
After his explanation Hagrid walked off as he normally did to retrieve the creature of the lesson. Harry immediately found himself under scrutiny but before any answers could be demanded McGonagall cleared her throat quickly reminding the students of her presence. Hagrid returned not long later alongside Galahad who was walking beside him at least until he saw Harry and increased his pace while Harry broke from the class to meet him and was greeted by an eagle head rubbing against his own in a pseudo hug.
"Harry why don't you introduce him." Said Hagrid once he was back with the rest of the class.
Breaking away Harry turned and sat easily on the ground before patting his thigh getting Galahad to lie down with his head in the boys lap allowing him to run his hand across his head.
"This is Galahad." Said Harry speaking softly yet in the silence he was heard easily.
"Like Professor Hagrid said earlier Galahad is special and that's because he was created by magic not born." Said Harry surprising everyone but McGonagall, Hermione, Ron, Neville and Daphne who already knew this.
"I don't remember it but from what both Professors Black and Lupin told me I conjured Galahad when I was a toddler for my dad's birthday. I also conjured a Pegasus for my mom who she named Tornado. I didn't use standard conjuration however as standard conjured items will fade when the magic runs out. I used conjuration through a power called Projection which is basically Reality Manipulation. Because of this Galahad was able to create a familiar bond instantly with my dad and he's very sensitive to magic, able to sense it easily. He also understands human speech and can communicate with other creatures. I've never known him to attack anyone but he's very protective." Said Harry.
"Mr. Potter have you created any other creatures with your magic" questioned one of the Ministry workers.
"No. I just got control of my magic over the summer since the bindings were released. Plus I don't like to use Projection, it takes the fun out of it." Said Harry
"What do you mean?" questioned Draco frowning.
"Well imagine you wanted to build a top-of-the-line racing broom. Projection will instantly give you the finished product as long as you can imagine it but you won't know what went into it. Sure you've got the broom but when people ask how it works, what it can do, you won't have an answer because you didn't actually build it." Said Harry.
"That would actually suck, where's the sense of accomplishment?" said Blaise.
"Exactly. As for creating more creatures I don't think I'll ever do that again. Once you consider the environment and the effect of introducing a new creature you start getting a headache." Said Harry.
"So you can but you won't." Said the female ministry worker.
"I'd need a really good reason and money isn't good enough. You'd need to convince my dad, my godfather, my aunts, and the Headmistress before I even think about it." Said Harry and seeing the look said Headmistress shot at the Ministry workers they all knew that was not happening.
Ronald Weasley was the sixth child of Arthur and Molly Weasley as well as the youngest boy. While he has a younger sibling, Ginny was also the only girl. While his parents didn't mean to do it growing up he had often felt overlooked and even unwanted. He was more often then not the target of the twins pranks and with his dad working and his mom with multiple kids to look after Ron often felt lost in the shuffle and as a result had developed a level of insecurity and jealousy that had gone unnoticed for years.
Hearing his mother gushing about the accomplishments of his older brothers had also given him a lack of motivation that Hogwarts itself could not nudge him passed. Thankfully he'd made a friend, a best friend even in Harry Potter from the first day on the Hogwarts Express. Sure sometimes his insecurity and jealousy would flare up but Harry was the understanding sort so things usually worked themselves out.
Hermione had slotted in well with them and while Ron had initially been against it, mostly due to her attitude, Harry who was always the more insightful of them had realized quickly that the girl was like them except where Ron found solace in eating and Quidditch, Harry in cooking and flying, Hermione found hers in books and learning. While they had all thought that Neville would join them that first year the boy was simply too shy at the time, though they were always friendly with him.
Things had changed for all of them during their second year though, Harry's reveal of being a parselmouth had been the start and had honestly freaked Ron out. Growing up in a magical home he'd heard stories about parselmouths that Harry and Hermione hadn't growing up in the muggle world and as such he'd distanced himself out of both fear and confusion as a result. Thankfully Neville had found his courage and slotted in with Harry and Hermione during that time. Months later the immediate aftermath of the Basilisk Adventure saw numerous changes in their lives. Ron had spent time in Saint Mungo's due to all of the potions he'd been under which had made his previous insecurity and jealousy issues much worse and like Ginny had required him to see a Mind Healer which is why he now acknowledged his problems.
Over the summer while in Egypt with his family he'd been exploring a tomb with his oldest brother Bill, one that had already been cleared, when he saw a golden glow and discovered a hidden chamber. It was within that chamber that he discovered the Amulet of Anubis, a golden pendant in the shape of a Ankh and spoke with an astral projection of Nabu or Doctor Fate as the magical community knew him. Nabu had been impressed with Ron's magical affinity but stated he was both too young to make a proper host and had several negative personality traits but was at a crossroad and had the potential to be great if nurtured correctly.
The conversation between Bill and Nabu had been tense, especially after Ginny's recent possession by Voldemort's diary. In the end it was agreed that Ron would take possession of the Amulet temporarily in order for Nabu to provide him with something of a mentor who would help him not just with magic but life in general. That was only after Bill ran through every test he could think of, even Nabu being a Lord of Order wasn't enough to sway the protective big brother. The mentor he was provided was a man by the name of Kent Nelson, the previous physical host of Doctor Fate whose spirit was housed within the Amulet with that of his wife Inza. Before they left the chamber Nabu changed the Amulet so that instead of a pendant it took the form of a signet ring though still sported the ankh which Ron now wore on his left hands pinky.
With Kent's mentorship and his ongoing Ron seemed to grow in maturity quickly which was in truth the result of his growing level of confidence in both himself and his abilities. He had also helped Ron get over some of his preconceived notions most of which had been the result of listening to his mother and helped Ron discover why some of his problems in the castle had occurred and helped him figure out how to avoid those in the future.
Upon their return from Egypt and his return to Hogwarts the spirit had begun truly working with Ron especially as the time compression gave them three years for the price of one. This had seen not only his grades shoot up but help change how people looked at him in the castle due to his change of presentation. While he was no Ravenclaw and never would be his grades had improved enough that he was no longer at the bottom of his class and his teachers had definitely noticed and commented on.
As things had been going so well for him it was no wonder he was both surprised and worried when he received the summons to the Deputy Headmasters office after COMC. Because his year was now on the same track as the transfer students there was a lot more integration than there had previously been and Ron was not surprised to see several students as he made his way through the castle.
Professor Mordo made his office in the Chamber of Secrets much like Professors Wong and Gordon did which was mostly due to the fact that this gave them easy access to Slytherin's Library which was massive and they were still going through. Even with all of this in mind Ron was wary as he descended as he had never forgotten the first time he'd been down there even if the ambience was completely different as it was now brightly lit and the tunnel appeared more like a hallway than it previously did.
He found Professor Mordo in his office thankfully, as if the man had been in the library it would have taken forever to find him. At his appearance the professor looked up from his work and motioned him to enter the room. As he did so Ron noticed the man make a motion with his hand and the door closed behind him softly which he knew was more complicated than it looked which showcased the man's control.
"Take a seat Mr. Weasley." Said the man getting him to gulp before he did so.
"I'll be blunt I've been going over your records and over the last few years; you do not appear to be an ideal student, nor even really want to be here. However the improvements that you've made over the time you've spent in time compression have caught the attention of all of your previous teachers. Your non-magical studies teachers have all left comments as to your behavior and grades as well which would lead many to believe they are speaking of a completely different person than your previous records indicate. After speaking with the Headmistress it has been determined that your academic probation will be lifted. Congratulations Mr. Weasley and keep up the good work."
At that Ron relaxed which he would only later realize was the exact thing he shouldn't have as the man made a motion of his hand and the ghost of Kent Nelson was suddenly in the room with them.
Doctor Henry 'Hank' Pym was amongst the five smartest people in the world. An entomologist, biochemist, roboticist, engineer and physicist Pym had even at one point been a soldier and later an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D but had given that up due to a serious health condition and a falling out with some of its former leadership. He also had the distinction of being one of Fury's top candidates for the Avengers Initiative, a position he'd been forced to turn down though he'd still offered what scientific aid the man could need, within reason of course.
Amongst his list of achievements and accolades in life he was known for the rare group of subatomic particles known now as Pym Particles which were capable of altering the size and mass of objects or living beings bypassing the Square-Cube Law of physics. Originally the particle had only decreased the size and mass of inanimate objects and with some alteration had allowed the manipulation of living objects as well. It had been during his time with S.H.I.E.L.D that he discovered the particle and considering it had been during the Cold War it had given them the edge they needed, allowing him to operate under the codename Ant-Man.
It was during this time that he met a fellow scientist within S.H.I.E.L.D, Janet Van Dyne who would he would develop a relationship with, even allowing her the ability of working with him in the field under the codename Wasp. Eventually the two would marry and it was Janet who convinced him to leave S.H.I.E.L.D when it was discovered she was pregnant. After leaving the agency he started Pym Technologies which had grown to become a leader and key contributor to the advancement in the fields of nanotechnology, human enhancements, and molecular and atomic studies.
Janet however had become a world renowned fashion designer, though she still dabbled in science every now and then. They had two children William and Hope, both of whom had grown up wanting for nothing however with a bit of knowledge of their parents past both had decided to follow in their footsteps and joined the Army. William had unfortunately not made it out having died in battle in Afghanistan, while Hope served for several years before leaving the military.
The death of William had great effects on the family all of whom buried themselves in their work, Janet in fashion, Hope in the military and Hank in his labs. Though Hope has since left the military and the family has recovered a bit there was still a void that all of them felt. Hank was actually in his home lab in San Francisco when his work was interrupted by the ringing of his doorbell. Checking the camera he saw that it was a delivery and sighed as he wasn't expecting anything but speaking into the microphone let them know he was on the way up.
Upon greeting the man he was surprised to find the delivery was for him and consisted of several boxes all of which showed Stark Industries as the return address which in truth irritated him. There was also a letter and after he signed for everything and opened the letter finding it was from Tony Stark. Apparently he was having his storage area cleared up and discovered his old work mixed in with his fathers. Howard had apparently had his researched moved to his home after he left S.H.I.E.L.D and considering how they left things it was no wonder it had been forgotten.
'Looks like your son has done some growing up. He's not as big of a dick as you were anymore Howard.' Mused Hank.
Removing a couple of small red disks from his pockets he dropped them on the boxes causing them to shrink and allowing him to easily pick them all up and move them. Once back in his lab the use of blue disks reversed the effect enlarging them back to their previous size. It was while he was going through the files that he found something that caused him to pause. It was the proposal for an Artificial Intelligence something he'd come with after studying the android created by Professor Phineas T. Horton that became known as The Torch, though most believed him to be human when he was active. At the time the creation of an A.I. such as this was considered too big of a waste by S.H.I.E.L.D and was rejected but Hank knew he could create it now much easier than it had previously been.
'Looks like the Ultron Project is happening even if it is over 30 years late.' Mused Hank.
Meanwhile across the country in New York, Percy Jackson stared out of the window of his class eyes focused and giving no visible clue to how nervous he currently felt. In truth he didn't really want to be in school right now and was only doing so for his mother's peace of mind. His hand absently reached for his pocket only to miss the familiar comfort of his pen. Unlike most such utensils his pen was actually a disguise as its true form was a sword, a xiphos specifically, a form it assumed when the cap was removed.
The sword itself was three feet in length and made of Celestial Bronze an ore found only on Mount Olympus, which he had been in possession of since he was twelve and had become a rather comforting presence for him since then. Unfortunately it was broken during his recent battle with the Titan Atlas, thanks in no small part to a curse Ares had placed on it when they dueled in Los Angeles. Unfortunately his sword breaking effectively ended his fight and he'd had the "clever" idea to free Artemis from the weight of the sky, taking the burden in her place and allowing the Goddess to fight.
In the aftermath of the battle, after Artemis had forced Atlas to return to his possession holding up the sky and thus freeing Percy as a result, his dad told him he'd have the blade re-forged but until then he had to make due. Chiron, the immortal centaur trainer of demigods had loaned him a spear for the time being so he wasn't completely defenseless though he was admittedly nowhere near as good with the spear as he was the sword. His attention was grabbed by a knock on the door, his A.D.H.D fueled instincts already primed as he readied himself to move. His teacher, Mr. Houghton, frowned as his lecture was interrupted but moved to answer the door anyway. When he returned Percy was surprised to be told he was done for the day. Grabbing his bag he made his way out the door pausing only long enough to hear the homework assignment before moving on.
Several minutes later, after crossing nearly half of the school and he was walking into main entrance where he paused only briefly upon seeing his dad standing there. For most people having their dad picking them up from school may not be strange but considering he hasn't seen his dad more than three times in his life it was certainly strange for Percy. His wariness must have shown as Poseidon smiled and suddenly he was feeling more at ease. After greeting each other they walked out of the door yet instead of emerging into the busy streets of Manhattan they stepped out into the sand on a beach he recognized quickly as just outside of Camp Half-Blood, with a pair of beach chairs already waiting for them.
The sight and sound of the waves along with the smell of the ocean had him smiling causing his body to relax from the tense posture he'd been holding all day. Taking a seat he had barely settled before he heard a hiss and a pop and looked up just in time to see his dad passing him an opened glass bottle of coke. Smiling he accepted the drink and took a swig savoring the taste as he leaned back into the chair. For several minutes the two were silent simply taking in the scenery while drinking their cokes, an experience Percy had never gotten and was savoring before his father finally broke the silence.
"Things are going to be changing soon."
"How?" questioned the boy though somehow his wariness wasn't returning.
"D will be leaving the camp for a start. The new director will be Kratos, the new God of War." Said Poseidon.
Percy had heard of Kratos, he'd been surprised to learn that he was real and not just a video game character. While he'd never played the game himself he didn't think there was anyone who hadn't heard of the God of War franchise.
"Is that good or bad?"
"I believe it will be a good thing for many of you. Unlike us, he is firstly a warrior, a soldier. You'll receive not just training but structure." Said the god.
"You don't seem too happy about that." Said Percy.
"I had hoped the time of training children for war was over. I remember the Bronze Age all to well, yet the Age we are set to enter seems even more perilous than the previous one."
Percy frowned, or rather would have if not for the strange effect of his drink, for the last few years since he first learned of his heritage his life had been filled with danger. The idea that he'd face even more didn't exactly sit right with him either.
"Well we already knew a fight was coming, your brother just didn't want to believe it." Said Percy
Poseidon was silent at that aside from humming his agreement to the statement. For several moments they sat in silence and Percy thought he may have gone too far until finally his father reached over and offered him a pen surprising him.
"What's this?"
"Your friend, only dressed up a bit more and upgraded."
Percy's eyes widened in shock as he accepted it. Of course it was easy to not realize this as previously his sword Riptide was hidden as a disposable ballpoint pen with a blue cap. What he held now was much fancier as it had the body of a blue and gold fountain pen that seemed to be push styled instead of having the cap over the front.
"If you push the cap down it operates as an actual pen. If you twist the cap to the right your sword will appear, twist it to the left and you'll get something else."
Following his dads direction he pushed the cap down causing the tip to emerge before pushing again and retracting the tip. Twisting the cap to the right caused it to transform and soon he held the familiar form of Riptide in hand. Looking it over he found it looked brand new, as if it had never before been used. It still had it's name Anaklusmos inscribed across the guard but now also sported a trident on the shoulder and a fuller than ran down the center on both sides of the blade. The handle was still covered in brown leather however he now found a trio of buttons on the bottom of the pommel in a triangle formation each of which had a word inscribed in ancient Greek beneath it. The button on the right was depressed and had the word sword, above that in the center was the word sheath, and on the left was his father's crest.
Pressing the button on the left he watched in awe as the weapon shifted changing from a sword to a trident in less than a second. From end to end it was about 8 feet yet even as he held it the shaft shrunk down to a more manageable 6 feet. The shaft was wood colored a deep black with the name Anaklusmos inscribed across it in gold while the head was Celestial Bronze though the blades themselves were shimmering blue like water.
The other end of the shaft had a celestial bronze cap that ended in a point long enough which would defend him from any attacks coming from that end. Just holding the trident gave him a sense of pride and power that was immediately offset by the fact he couldn't lift it as evidenced by the fact that almost as soon as it fully formed gravity embedded the entire thing in the sand much to his fathers amusement. Finally he found the buttons along the shaft and had it back in its pen form.
"One day you will be able to wield it." Said Poseidon breaking Percy from his embarrassment.
"That trident is special. It's head is actually from my old one and the shaft is reinforced with Adamantine, an ore found only in the oceans depths. However neither it or your sword were re-forged by a Cyclops or my nephew."
This news caught Percy's attention since as far as he knew all of the weapons made today were at the hands of either Hephaestus or the numerous Cyclops who also worked in the Forges of the Gods.
"They were forged on Nidavellir, a space station that orbits a neutron star by the hands of two of the greatest blacksmiths in the universe, the Huldra brothers, Brok and Sindri the younger brothers of the Dwarf King." Said Poseidon.
Percy had met the Dwarf King, one of the many he'd met at the party on Asgard and now understood why he'd been so interested in him and asked him so many questions.
"You said the head was taken from your trident. Why, I mean isn't it your Symbol of Power?" questioned Percy causing the God to sigh.
"That actually leads into what I wanted to talk to you about."
Percy for all that he'd learned and gone through over the last year and a half was in no way prepared to hear the story his father told him. He knew his dad was among the Big Three, the most powerful of the Greek Gods, to learn that as powerful as his father was he was only a fraction of a greater whole, a being so powerful that only one being stood above him. His dad wouldn't tell the whole story only that when the world was created this god split portions of himself off to help stabilize it, those portions being Thor and Poseidon himself. His dad had only recently had this knowledge revealed to him, but instead of telling him everything he gave him a series of books all of which were thankfully written in Ancient Greek which was one less headache as his Dyslexia made trying to read English murder.
"One last thing." Said Poseidon after giving Percy a bit of time to absorb all that he'd told him.
"I have arranged for someone to help train you in the full usage of your powers. They will meet you every Saturday outside of the ocean boundary of the camp. You will come directly to camp after your classes on Fridays and return home on Sunday evenings." Said Poseidon
"Dad, we can't afford for me to make that many trips, New York is expensive." Said Percy.
"I've spoken to your mother already regarding this and she has finally agreed to let me help out. As for your travel, I'll show you."
The village of Hogsmeade was the only all-wizarding village in all of Magical Britain. Located Northeast of Hogwarts the village was the closest settlement to the castle and as such a place that Hogwarts students third year and up were known to frequent. There had once been a time were the students could be seen in the village any day of the week however that had been changed by former Headmaster Armando Dippett during the last Great Wizarding War when it appeared the conflict may reach their shores. After the war was over the free travel privileges had never been reinstated giving rise to what were now called Hogsmeade Weekends.
At the moment Harry could be found wandering the streets alongside Neville and Ron. They'd all ridden down in carriages with the girls and had done a lot together however the girls had split off to do their female shopping. Of course the three boys had taken the time to do their own more personal shopping as well as even with the assistance of the House Elves that called Hogwarts home there were times that things needed to be replaced.
"So where next?" questioned Neville.
"Haircut for me." Said Ron
At that Harry paused in thought. Ron wasn't the only one who's hair had gotten long over the course of the year as his own hair had grown out and while it had been treated in Asgard prior to the ball that had only been so that it would appear neat and not the untamed mess it usually was. Neville most have had the same thought as he quickly agreed with Ron and before long they found themselves entering Cam's Barber on High Street which was a center point for student traffic considering Honeydukes, Zonko's and The Three Broomsticks were all located there.
The owner of the shop was Cameron Clark, or Cam as he insisted on being called. He was the older brother to one of the transfer students, a 5th year Hufflepuff named Erin and had come with her and opened the shop in Hogsmeade so that she would have someone close to her. Cam wasn't what any of them would actually consider old as he was only 23 though he was a pretty tall guy just over 6 feet in height and lean. He had light brown skin and hazel eyes with long black hair that he wore in individual braids. As the three boys entered the shop they could see it was pretty crowded, but it was big with ten chairs all of which were occupied with different barbers. The shop itself they knew had grown fast as at the beginning of the year it had only been Cam himself, but the shops popularity had grown quickly and it was now amongst the most popular places in the village for young men thanks in no small part to the rather relaxed atmosphere.
Thankfully it seems they beat the crowd as they only had to wait for a few minutes before they were seated. The way Cam's worked however was all manual meaning no magic was used just clippers and scissors. Because of the length of their hair and the styles they'd chosen all three boys were started with washes before the actual cutting and styling began. For Harry it took nearly forty-five minutes before he found a mirror presented to him. His hair was once again short, the sides and back in a low fade while the top was styled into short tight curls. Ron had chosen an Avengers cut, which had become popular since the transfer students arrived, in Ron's case it was a short back while the sides and top were swept back. Neville had his cut low on the back and sides while the top was in a short top crew cut.
Leaving Cam's the trio made their way directly to The Three Broomsticks and upon entry found the place was already packed. While all of them had been there a time or two before during the year the place had been transformed since their first visits. Upon entry they were greeted to the sound of music playing from the front of the room. Seating lined the walls which were mostly booths with several small tables dotted through the back of the room. The front half of the room had been cleared and was now used as a dancefloor, while Madam Rosmerta still ran the place she had hired more staff all female, three of them could be found behind the bar while several others darted about the place.
You could tell who worked in the place as they all wore tan shorts and black boots that went halfway up the calf along with sleeveless flannel shirts that instead of being buttoned were tied up exposing their midriffs and highlighting their breasts. They had only been inside a few seconds when the hostess arrived and led them over to some empty booths in the upper left corner of the room. Despite the booths rather small appearance it was bigger on the inside with enough room to fit at least twenty-five people with a large dining couch that appeared to have been split in two and tables that appeared to have been split into multiple sections allowing people to walk down the center of the booth and into the seats without having to slide in.
Of course what none of the students knew was that Madam Rosmerta had experienced a muggle nightclub over the summer and had redecorated her establishment to resemble what she'd seen. The upper section of the building still had rooms so it could act as an inn and the building was experiencing an all-time high in terms of business even without the students as a constant presence. There was also a difference between what the students experienced and what adult wizards and witches would experience within the establishment now as well, but that was for another time.
Harry would admit the atmosphere of the place was definitely helping him to relax. Since their return to school he'd been spending a lot of his time on either his studies and personal projects. Because of this he was spending most of his free time in the Room of Requirement and while he wasn't the only one doing so when Ron had voiced the need for a break he'd not been able to resist going along. By the time the girls arrived the three boys were all well into their first butterbeers and appetizers had been ordered though not yet received. Of course as Hogsmeade visits were reserved for students Third Year and up the group that arrived consisted of Hermione, Daphne, Susan, Hanna, Zatanna, Tracy, Padma, Parvati, Lavender, Wanda and the newest edition to their group Pansy Parkinson.
He and Sirius had met with Lord Parkinson just prior to their return to the school. Apparently House Parkinson owed House Potter a Life Debt as Pansy had nearly been kissed by a Dementor at the beginning of the year. As Pansy was the Heiress Primary of the Most Ancient and Most Noble House of Parkinson and he was the recognized Heir of multiple houses of the same level the debt was something that was both acknowledged and needing to be satisfied. Lord Parkinson had offered Pansy to him as a mistress but that was declined.
Instead they'd settled on a Rapprochement which had been declared between the houses of Potter and Parkinson, both of whom were of The Eleven. It was basically a fancy way of saying that they had agreed to not kill each other. There had been a number of stipulations in that agreement however, Lord Parkinson had firstly had to prove he was not a Death Eater, which he had proven though his older brother Lenard had certainly been one before he died during the war.
There were a number of other stipulations but the important one was that Pansy was under the care of House Potter while in school, would be in service of the House of Potter until the New Year after her 25th birthday and would be at the personal use of Harry himself. The last bit was just a fancy way of saying he could have sex with her however much he wanted. They had tried to find a way around that last one but the rules of rapprochement when involving life debts at their level were really strict. That didn't mean they had to have sex but the option would be available to him until her service was over.
Needless to say neither Hermione nor his aunts had been happy with that stipulation when they were informed. That had prompted a discussion on the different types of magical agreements and a history on just how bad things had gotten during the war. Daphne had of course taken things much better as she was already aware of such things, that didn't mean she liked it, but she was aware and had already come to terms with the fact that some things just couldn't be helped. As for Pansy, they had decided to pretty much start over and he told her privately she could do and date whoever she wanted and that he didn't expect anything from her but that she try to actually get to know people and not pre-emptively judge them.
He had been surprised to learn that she wanted to be a healer, yet not surprised to learn that had not been something encouraged by her father. After speaking with Sirius about it the two of them encouraged her to follow her passion if she truly wanted to and that both of them would support her. It had taken a while but eventually the girl had relaxed and settled into the group. It hadn't all been smooth sailing; Hermione was not a fan of the girls after their first two years in the school and Ron was Ron.
Thankfully the youngest of the Weasley boys had learned a bit about his family heritage over the summer so he wasn't as disparaging of Slytherins as he had once been. Even with that Ron wasn't trusting as even if her father wasn't a Death Eater that didn't mean he hadn't been a quiet supporter, an argument Harry couldn't dispute. The verbal spars between the two surpassed Ron's arguments with Hermione at their worst and more than a few of their housemates were convinced the two were going to either kill each other, get together or just have some wild hate sex, the latter option being the odds-on favorite.
Thankfully for his peace of mind the two had called a truce for the duration of the weekend allowing the rest of the group to enjoy themselves. After the girls arrived they had a few more people join them including Justin, Dean and Princes William and Harry, who went by Haz amongst his friends considering he had another friend named Henry who came to Hogwarts with him making three Harrys in the group. Once everyone arrived it didn't take long for the food to be ordered and delivered thanks to house elf cooking, though it was delivered by the staff.
They stayed in the Three Broomsticks for a few hours as even after they ate they hung out in the booth or took to the dance floor. They only decided to leave as there were some things several of them wanted to take care of back at the castle before they met up again in the theater corridor. Even as they left they made sure to tip their server giving her a total of 15 galleons between Harry, Neville, Justin and the two Princes all of whom could afford giving such a generous tip.
Instead of heading back to the castle immediately with the others Harry, Daphne and Hermione had a few more stops to make in the village. The first stop was Honeydukes where an assortment of candy was purchased followed by The Glaze Maze, a bakery where treats of a different variety were purchased. Leaving the Maze they headed towards the entrance of the village and the awaiting carriages finding only four were left, two of which he knew had carried teachers down to the village. While the girls boarded Harry headed to the front and offered the pair of Thestrals that pulled the carriage some treats before boarding with the carriage pulling away almost as soon as he closed the door.
Once they were away from the village Harry removed his communication mirror and called Piper. While she hadn't given birth yet his aunt was heavy with child as she was nearing her due date. While checking in with her he sent the sweets he'd gotten for her and the boys along with what he'd gotten for Phoebe and Paige by way of orbs and was pleased when she had them a few moments later. After ending the call with Piper he made a call to Diana, who Sirius had given a mirror before she returned to Asgard. Thankfully she'd still been in their quarters preparing for the day and he'd been able to send the packages he had for her and his grandparents, though that took considerably more effort on his part. Rather than end the call, however, he passed the mirror to Hermione as Diana wanted to speak with her and Daphne.
The ride back to the castle was uneventful and within thirty minutes they were arriving at their destination. Once out of the carriage and through the gates they had to walk through the central courtyard to the Entrance Hall which was pleasant as the weather wasn't too cold yet though they were stopped a few times so people could wish Hermione luck in her upcoming tennis match. They split once they entered the Entrance Hall as Hemione and Daphne were both heading down to the Chamber as they were having extracurricular lessons with Professor Gordon, Hemione learning to use the Witchblade and Daphne with the spear she'd been given before they left Asgard.
Once on his own Harry made his way to the Room of Requirement using a number of secret passages within the school to get there in a timely fashion. When he arrived it was empty as he knew it would be as most of the group only used it when they had their group training. Harry however made frequent use of the room as it was where he did most of the studying needed for his projects and his more advanced training. He took a moment to settle himself before summoning the room keeping in mind what it was he needed. Upon opening the door he was greeted to what appeared to be a large dojo with only a single figure inside.
The figure was that of a man with short cut brown hair and eyes and he wore a black suit which included a hooded tunic. He stood just shy of 6 feet in height and carried himself in a manner that both calm and composed but also stoic. He was a man who was a leader and expected to be listened to and for his commands to be heeded immediately. Harry himself had no idea how the room had conjured such a man, but he knew that this man had once lived and been one of the worlds most formidable warriors, if only because Professor Mordo had told him so when he'd inquired into his personal training. The man had been stunned and had been moving to engage when his conjured teacher had revealed that he was not truly the man he was thinking of merely a simulation of him conjured by the room as he'd fit the specifics that Harry had subconsciously wanted in a teacher.
"You have arrived, good. Pick up your blade and we shall begin."
The sword he picked up was almost exactly like the Sword of Gryffindor only it lacked extravagant jewels and designs and had a dull edge. Sword in hand he turned to face his teacher and took his stance waiting several long moments before the signal was given and he moved to attack.
Halliwell Manor was a sight of celebration as the family had gathered to welcome their newest member. Melinda Patricia Halliwell was born within the Manor delivered safely under the care of Andromeda Tonks who had come running as soon as she'd gotten the mirror call and was orbed over by Leo. Both mother and daughter were healthy and resting though both Wyatt and Chris had been instantly taken in by their little sister. Harry had been in class during the actual birth but considering the time difference between San Francisco and Scotland was able to arrange some time to visit the family, an outing for which both Sirius and Remus had accompanied him. It had been instinct more than anything that had seen Harry conjure a plush owl that looked suspiciously like Hedwig and place it in Melinda's crib.
He had been surprised to see both Natasha and Pepper had been there when he arrived, apparently the sisters had become fast friends with the Stark Industries CEO who had also arrived by way of the Leo express. At the moment Harry was sitting with the boys watching Power Rangers, one of their favorite shows and something Harry had never had the chance to watch growing up. His attention was caught by Phoebe when she entered the room and took a seat.
"Mighty Morphin." Said Phoebe after a few seconds.
"Yeah I'd never seen any of them so it was suggested I start from the beginning." Said Harry
In the time that he'd been watching it Harry would admit that he liked the show, sure there was some campiness to it and some of the situations and monsters he'd seen were silly, but he didn't care. Hell he'd even gotten a few ideas from watching the show with the communication watches and the flying car not even being on his list. Once the show was over the boys shot out of the room to go play leaving Harry and Phoebe alone. Most intriguing to him had been the suits, he'd noticed that they sparked whenever a ranger took a serious hit which told him the suits were made of some kind of metallic substance and not spandex like he'd initially assumed. Researching that had informed him that it was a fictional metal called Zu Metal, a mix of Deuterium, Aluminum, Chromium and Titanium making an ultrahard yet lightweight metal. Once again this was fictional but it had given him the idea of bringing it into reality or at least something similar with a magical twist, though it was on the list of his more long term projects.
Only a few minutes after the boys ran out of the room both Prue and Paige made their way in and grabbed seats. Phoebe who'd been surfing through the guide finally settled on a movie, Night at the Museum which. Unfortunately for Harry they only got through the first 30 minutes before Sirius and Remus came to collect him to return to Hogwarts. Prue stood as well as time compression would start back up in the morning and no one wanted to be outside of their loop.
Orbing back to the school they arrived just outside of the main gates and proceeded to make their way inside surprised to find Narcissa and Draco just inside. Apparently the two of them had gone for dinner with the Tonks family, something that had become a regular occurrence since Andi and Narcissa had reconciled. While Harry and Draco were now cordial there was always an undercurrent of tenseness with their interactions though that was beginning to lesson with time and forced associations considering their mutual ties to the House of Black.
"Right you two go on, we have a staff meeting and both of you have classes in the morning." Said Sirius as they came to an intersection.
Both boys acknowledged that and then they were off their separate ways. Familiarity led to Harry reaching the entrance to Gryffindor's common room in no time where he was surprised to find most of his friends in the main room. Moving over to them he was not surprised when space opened between Hermione and Ron an opening he was soon occupying.
"Where's Neville?" questioned Harry after greeting them all.
"With Hannah. They left from the library about an hour ago." Said Ron smirking
"How are Piper and the baby?" questioned Hermione, only referring to her by name as Piper, Phoebe and Paige still went by Ms. Halliwell.
"Aunt Piper and Melinda are both fine." Said Harry smiling.
As he said that he fished out his phone and fiddled with it before handing it to her. Accepting the devise Hermione saw he'd pulled up a picture of him holding Melinda who was reaching one of her hands up at him. From Hermione the phone moved to Ron, then Parvati and Lavender who both cooed over the baby and then Wanda who finally passed it back to Harry who then turned it off. While the rune he'd created made it so the phone worked it didn't get any signal as there were no cell towers anywhere near Hogwarts. Stashing his phone Harry sat back into his seat and relaxed, he had a long day of classes to tomorrow.
AN: That's it the chapters done. Harry's trainer in the Room of Requirement I image as Matt Nable, who played Ra's Al Ghul in Arrow and Wanda I imagine as Danielle Campbell. I'm debating putting lemons in this fic but haven't made up my mind about it. Anyway thanks for reading and please review, LATER.
