Chapter 7: Gotham's Bug Problem
After leaving Finn and Jake's treehouse, Killer Moth went back to the lair of the giant insects where he was ready to lead them back to Gotham now that he knew how to work the magic crystal. He couldn't wait to have the whole city bow and scrape before thanks to the might of his awesome army. That included both the good people of the city and the other criminals who mocked and made fun of him in the past. When he returned to the Mothcave, he put his suit back on and shone one of his light sticks that caught the attention of the moths. "My friends, the time has come for me to give you what I promised you. I now know how to get back to Gotham and there, you will see all the light you could ever want. And the whole city will tremble at our awesome might!", Moth said. The moths all buzzed in excitement as they seemed eager to do what he told them. Moth took out the crystal and did what he was informed to do by Finn. He whispered, "Gotham City.", to the crystal and tossed it on the cave floor. A portal opened up and he jumped through along with every bug in the cave swarming into the portal as well. Once all the bugs and their leader were through, the portal closed, and the cave was left dark and empty. Meanwhile in Gotham at Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, and Damian Wayne were all sitting down together on the couch in the big living room having some of Alfred's French onion soup. Alfred has always been the best cook there is. Ever since Bruce was a toddler, he has always loved anything Alfred made and he definitely missed it when he was traveling abroad to learn various forms of martial arts that would lead him to become who he is today. "How's the soup, Damian?", Bruce asked his son. "Very good. Alfred never disappoints as far as a meal.", Damian said as he was finishing his soup. "Glad you enjoyed it, Master Damian. French onion has always been my favorite type of soup to both eat and make.", Alfred said just as he finished his bowl. "Hey, Dad. I'm sorry if I let Moth get away. I know he's not that big a threat, but I still feel guilty about it.", Damian said to his father in a disappointed tone. Bruce put his hand on his son's shoulder and said, "It's alright, son. Don't be too hard on yourself. And no matter how little of a threat a criminal may pose, they still must be brought to justice. I'm sure Moth will show up again soon.". Father and son shared a warm smile to one another with Alfred sharing the same kind of smile directed towards both of them. He was immensely proud of how well the man he considered to be his son had such a good relationship with his son, despite the fact he is the grandson of the seemingly immortal eco-terrorist, Ra's Al Ghul. How little did Bruce and Damian know that Moth will appear again much sooner than they thought. Bruce began to get a call on his phone, and he set down his bowl of soup and answered it. "Hello.", Bruce answered. "Bruce, it's Oracle. There's some trouble going down on Miagani Island. You and Damian need to get down here now.", Oracle said. "What kind of trouble?", Bruce asked. "You'll have to get down here to see what I'm talking about. Just get down here.", Oracle said. Bruce then got up and said, "Come on, Damian. We have to get to Miagani.". "Why? What's wrong?", Damian asked. "I'm not sure. Barbara didn't go into much detail. She just said we have to get down there now.", Bruce said. "Alright. Thanks for the soup, Alfred. We'll see you later.", Damian said as he got up and followed his father. "My pleasure, young sir. Be careful.", Alfred said. They then went down to the Batcave and got suited up to become Batman and Robin. They then got in the Batmobile and drove out of the cave and towards the city. After about a 10 minute drive, the Dynamic Duo got to Miagani Island where Barbara said to go to. They eventually came to a roadblock where Gordon and almost all of his officers had their cars parked and the heroes couldn't believe what the cops were shooting at. They saw a huge swarm of giant monster moths flying and attacking them by spitting corrosive acid. The cops were both shooting at the giant monsters while at the same time dodging the acid they were spitting which was eating away at the cars they were hiding behind. "Commissioner, we can't keep this up! We have to fall back!", Renee Montoya shouted. "I agree. Let's go!", Gordon said. The officers started to run away from the giant insects. Gordon saw the Batmobile and directed his officers over to there. Batman and Robin got out and went to the cops. "Thank God you're here! Do you see this crazy shit we're dealing with?! Can't things be easy in this city just once?! On Halloween, we had to deal with Scarecrow spreading his toxin all over the city, and last month, we had to deal with both Ivy using her giant plants to destroy the city and Two-Face threatening to blow up half of it! Now we have these monster bugs from Hell!", Gordon shouted in frustration. Batman felt every bit of his old friend's frustration in trying to keep Gotham a safe place for everyone. But all these supervillains making all these crazy plans makes that goal even more difficult. "How did this happen? Where did these things come from?", Batman asked. "I have no idea! They just showed up out of nowhere! They were all over the bright billboards and lampposts and then they started attacking people!", Gordon said. "Get your cops out of here. We'll handle this!", Batman said. "You can't deal with these flying freaks on your own! You're sure to be killed!", Gordon said with concern in his voice. "I've faced worse than this. I'll be fine. Just get to safety!", Batman said again. Gordon nodded and led his fellow cops away from the flying attackers. As soon as the police were out of harm's way, a voice began to speak. "Well, well. Look who finally decided to show his ugly cowled face.", the voice said. Batman knew that voice sounded familiar and turned to see the man who once considered himself to be the Dark Knight's opposite, Killer Moth. "Moth! I should've known you had something to do with the fact that giant moths were attacking the city.", Batman said. "What can I say, moths and me click. Just like you do with bats. It's good to see you brought your little birdy boy too. I have a score to settle with him after what happened at the museum.", Moth said. "So, where did you get your freaky new pets, Walker?", Robin asked. "Oh, wouldn't you like to know! All you need to know is that from here on out, everyone in this city will begin to take me a little more seriously. These moths treat me as one of their own and I plan to use them to get all the riches I could ever hope for and eliminate all my enemies! Especially you!", Moth said in a sinister tone. "Like Hell! We'll take you out first and then put you back in jail!", Robin said. "I don't think so! Attack them! Rip them to pieces!", Moth ordered his creatures. They listened and began to spit acid at the heroes. "Robin, get back in the car!", Batman ordered his son as the moths started to attack. Both heroes got back in the Batmobile and it converted into its battle mode. The tank started to fire its rounds at the moths which killed each one that it hit. After about 10 were destroyed, Moth flew into the air now that his wingsuit was fueled back up and yelled, "There's plenty more where that came from!", Moth said. Countless more moths began to show up and attack the Batmobile. The Batmobile's exterior protected it from the corrosive acid that would have affected any other vehicle, but it still couldn't deal with this many attackers. As more moths kept appearing, Batman decided to fall back himself. "We're going to have to retreat and think of a strategy to destroy these things.", Batman said. "Looks like we don't have any other choice due to how much we're getting hit.", Robin said. The Batmobile drove off towards somewhere safe where they can think of a game plan. Moth felt victorious that he successfully drove off the Bat. He felt really good about himself and was confident that with his army, this city would really bend to his will. "Go ahead and run, you cowardly bat! By the time, I'm done with Gotham, it will be reduced to a moth-eaten wasteland and then everyone will remember and fear the name, Killer Moth!", Moth shouted and then laughed Triumphantly while the swarm behind buzzed in excitement as well.
