A/N: I own nothing

In hindsight, Adam should've realized that this had been a trap.

After all, Apocryphos had done the same thing seven thousand years ago.

Of course, when he had sensed Clio's life force flickering out, he had kind of sort of... well, lost it. He had lost the one loved twice. Twice. And that had shattered his already delicate mental balance. The destruction that had followed hadn't been pretty but when he had finally found Apocryphos, he was ready to end everything once and for all.

Of course, Apocryphos had the gaul to boast about how he had murdered Clio and he had taunted Adam about his inability to protect his loved ones. That had sent Adam into a fit of rage that had ended up with him in his current position.

He was slumped against the wall of a half destroyed building, broken and bleeding, with Apocryphos looming over him. Wearily, he looked up at his enemy before bowing his head, his golden eyes sliding closed as he resigned himself to his fate.

What point was there in fighting back?

He had already damned himself with his incompetence in doing his job properly, by failing to destroy this abomination, and by failing to protect Clio and Eve, the ones he loved the most. He didn't deserve to live, not anymore.

"Farewell demon." he heard Apocryphos say "I hope you enjoy Hell." Adam tensed, ready for the blow but... it never came. Instead, he felt soft hands and then he heard a female voice.

"Adam? Adam! Please answer me!" It almost sounded like... Clio? Adam forced his eyes open and his breath caught in his throat.

It was Clio... only... only she was a Noah! Shakily, he reached up and place a hand on her cheek.

"Clio." he said "My lovely muse." He lurched forward a bit, clutching at his injured abdomen where blood had turned his shirt a vivid scarlet. Gently, Clio helped him lay down and he saw the glimmer of tears in her eyes as she looked over his injuries. He touched her hand and smiled at her weakly when she looked at him.

"Don't worry for me." he said as he clutched her hand "I'm too far gone."

"But Adam." she said.

"I have no regrets." he rasped "Not since I've met you."

"I don't want to lose you!" cried Clio, shimmering tears staining her gray-hued skin "I don't care if it's selfish of me, I can't lose you! Not after all of this!" Adam just smiled serenely as his eyes slid closed. Clio gave a sobbing cry and she pressed a kiss to his hand before placing it on his chest.

"Please," she whispered as she touched his face "Please don't leave me." She could feel warmth growing in her chest and it seeped out into every nerve and every cell of her body before fire enveloped her. A sorrowful song erupted from the fire before it was dissipated with a sweep of large powerful wings. Pearly tears trickled from golden-green eyes and fell upon Adam's face before being allowed to fall upon his wounds, particularly the gaping wound in his abdomen. The wounds knitted back together almost instantly and, after a long moment of tense waiting, Adam moved slightly before his golden eyes slowly opened. Slowly, he reached up and stroked the head of the phoenix standing there. The phoenix trilled softly as he slowly sat up before it shifted back into Clio, who threw her arms around his neck and kissed him, much to his surprise. Pulling back, Adam nuzzled her cheek soothingly before they both looked up when something slammed into a nearby building.

Allen, who had Crown Clown activated (yet was still in his Noah form), pulled himself out of the building and took a stumbling step forward before Nea slammed into him and they both crashed back into the building. Both Adam and Clio sweatdropped before Apocryphos landed near them.

"You!" said Apocryphos, quite startled to see Clio "How are you still alive?!" Adam moved to stand but Clio stopped him by placing her hand on his chest. He opened his mouth to protest but she shook her head before she stood up and turned to face Apocryphos. Her golden eyes seemed to glow as she stared down Apocryphos and dark clouds began to gather overhead. There was a tense moment before a flash of lighting lit up the sky as thunder shook the heavens.

And then, they lunged.

Clio knew that she was no match for Apocryphos, at least physically, but she had something that would give her an edge over the Living Innocence.

Her power over the elements.

So as the rain poured down from the heavens, Clio fought with all her might. The very earth beneath their feet granted her its strength as she willed the wind and rain into a deadly dance of blades until, with a well placed hit to Apocryphos' chest, the Heart of Innocence was sent flying into the air.

Clio lunged and grabbed the sphere before the wind caught her and set her on the ground. Opening her hands, she saw the shimmering crystalline orb flare to life and that was when she heard it.

The Song of the Heart.

Gently, she pressed the Heart to her chest and it slid into her, returning to where it had been resting before Apocryphos had removed it. Only this time, it blazed with power. Prismatic energy engulfed her, weaving around her body and molding to it as it formed into a beautiful suit of crystalline armor. Bird-like wings of prismatic energy erupted from her back, giving her an ethereal look.

Clio opened her eyes, revealing that they were not gold nor were they green but instead they were a bright, mercurial silver with shimmering markings under her eyes that almost looked like tear streaks. She suddenly snatched two swords as they came flying towards her, flashing a smile at both Allen and Adam as she did so, before facing Apocryphos. The swords were inverted images of each other and despite the fact that they were both broadswords, she easily wielded one in each hand. She tensed and then charged, her form blurring before she suddenly appeared behind Apocryphos, a glimmering green liquid decorating the edge of blades.

Apocryphos let out a wet cough before the cracks on his skin began to spread and multiply. Tiny pieces began to fall from his body and he held up his hands, panic filling his eyes.

"No, no, NO!" he screamed as his hands began to crumble "I can't die! I am immortal! I am the Will of God! I cannot be killed!"

"Hey, 'WIll of God'." said Clio, turning to face him as a thick band of purple hued water circled around her, taking the form of an asian dragon as it did so "Do us all a favor and shut the hell up." The water dragon shot forward and went straight through Apocryphos, the water losing its purple hue as it did so. Apocryphos let out a god-awful scream as veins of purple snaked its way all over his body before he completely disintegrated into a pile of white dust. The dust was carried away by the wind, leaving behind a glimmering orb of now purified Innocence.

A pair of dress shoes stopped beside the orb before it was picked up by a gloved hand.

"It's strange how all of this trouble was caused by this little thing and a jealous heart." said Nea as he looked at the orb.

"Well, at least it's all over now." said Allen, his Innocence now deactivated.

"Thank God for that." said Nea with a sigh "Hey, check that out." Allen looked over where Nea was looking and saw Clio leaning against a building with her head on Adam's shoulder while Adam had his head resting against hers. Both of them were fast asleep and it was quite a place for them to have fallen asleep, not that Allen and Nea blamed them. Those two had been through all sorts of hell these last few hours.

Now there was only one question left.

How the hell were they going to move them?
