I Can't Day 17
The next day after Lex was removed from helping. Damian and Christina were able to get Amethyst back into her normal routine. Things were going well, and then, they were told by Pepper that they needed to organize a Gala. That was going to be stressful.
MJ and Christina started working on the theme and decorations while Damian and Peter put together the guest list. Christina took MJ, Pepper, Amethyst, Leia, and Morgan dress shopping. They found some beautiful evening gowns for all of them. Damian had some say in what he deemed modest for his baby sister. They ended up choosing a small gown that was an emerald green like her eyes, ankle length, with short sleeves. Christina chose a floor length pastel aqua gown with silver sequins, heavy at the bottom and growing sparse towards the waist. It was an off the shoulder 's length sleeved dress with an empire waist. MJ went with a short sleeve floor length gown in a pastel purple. It had an empire waist like Christina with a straight neckline. Leia got a smaller version of Christina's dress in a pastel green instead of off the shoulder it was just short sleeves. Pepper chose a silver floor length gown with short flowy sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. The boys wore suits and ties the corresponding color of the dresses. When all the guests and other people arrived the Gala started in earnest. Christina and Damian were dancing when she suddenly froze.
"Ari, what's wrong?" Damian asked, as he moved them off to the side. When she didn't answer him right away he began to get worried. He followed her line of sight, and he realized what had happened. Standing right across the room was a Hydra agent who had escaped the raid. When Damian had looked at the list and chose the guests he hadn't seen any unusual names. The man was taller than Christina as most were. He had black hair and brown beady eyes. He was staring right at them.
"Dami, I can't breathe." Christina gasped trying and failing to slow her rapid breathing. She had unfrozen a few seconds earlier while Damian was glaring none too gently at the man.
"Ari, I need you to calm down and focus on me. " He replied.
"I can't." She managed to get out.
"Ari, you are one of the strongest people I know. You can. I need you to blur everyone else out of your mind, and just focus on me, and your breathing, okay? " Damian coached. Damian whistled quietly for Peter, and almost immediately he and Kari appeared at Damian's side.
"Do you see the man in the pinstripe white and gray suit talking to the blonde lady in the pink dress?" Damian asked.
"Yeah, what did he do?" Peter asked back.
"He is a Hydra scientist that I didn't know was here, and he experimented on Christina and I. Can you please go get Uncle Nick to arrest him?" "It would be my pleasure." Peter answered, as he walked off and found Nick Fury, their adopted uncle. Damian watched as Nick walked over, and asked the man if they could talk in private. As soon as the vile man left Christina's sight she was able to begin calming down. When the Gala was over Damian got permission to interrogate the man from both the president and Nick. Damian stormed into the room, lightning crackling around his fingertips. He walked with purpose over to the table, and slammed his hands down denting the metal.
"Who do you think you are? How dare you come here." Damian snarled.
"My name is Luthor Bredén. It's simple. I came here to give you information, and to join your team." He said truthfully. Damian, knowing that he was telling the truth, accepted that, though he was still angry.
"Do you realize that you gave my fianceé a panic attack, and I almost had to sedate her because she wasn't able to calm down?" Damian snapped.
"No I didn't, I am very sorry." Luthor apologized.
"You're forgiven. May I suggest you change your name and appearance? That would be so Hydra can't find you. As well as keeping your looks from panicking someone again." Damian said.
"Yes, that seems like the best option." Luthor replied. Damian arranged for someone to take care of that, and they changed Luthor's name to Jericho Stryder. After talking, Damian found out that Jericho hadn't experimented on them at all; he was their doctor, and was one of the few good people in Hydra. A week later, it was the second week of May, and they were all able to form a companionship with Jericho.
