It had been almost a whole day since I've been held hostage by a raving bitchy vampire; almost an entire day, 24 hours, 1,440 minutes. Tanya wasn't much of a talker, so I spent most of the time drawing circles in the concrete with a piece of burnt wood and having a one sided conversation with myself. I thought if I annoyed her enough, she would just let me go or kill me.
Circles, circles, circles….
"So Tanya, what's your favorite color? Yellow has been my favorite color since fourth grade."
And cue the evil staring. This had been going on for the last three hours, she just stares at me. At first it started with the serious questions, like, Why are you doing this? Or, What are you going to do with me? Then I realized she wasn't going to answer any thing; that's when the immaturity started. I blame it on lack of food, water and energy.
Just when I thought things couldn't get worse, I heard a loud bang on the wall. Of course I think it's my rescue, that was until a tall brunette walks in.
As I turn around to look at her better, I hear Tanya's screeching voice, "Casey! I thought you never would come!"
Casey looked at me, and then turned to hug Tanya, "Is that what all this trouble is over, a small human girl? Tanya, you could have handled this on your own."
"Not when Edward's family likes her. You should have seen them all, housing her like a fucking pet. I need your help; I have to explain to them that she is a bad idea."
That's when Casey said the most intelligent thing I've heard since I've been in this shit hole, "Tanya, how are you going to explain that she is a bad idea, when you're the one holding her hostage?" I think I like this chick already…
I stifled a small, involuntary giggle. Seeing as I was already delusional, I felt a bit more confident than usual.
Tanya rolled her eyes and shot me a dirty look, "Casey, I just need your support. Will you please help me?"
That's when I started shivering again, because whatever Tanya had planned for me, she now had help doing it. I picked back up my stick and began mindlessly drawing circles again; it's the only thing at this point that keeps me partially sane.
"Will you STOP raking that fucking stick through the god damn dirt?" The rumble of her voice not only scared me, but I suddenly froze; within the time it took for her to finish her demand, she was in front of my face only inches between us. I could see the animal in her, the part that wanted to kill me in the reflection of her blood red eyes.
I'm not sure how long she had me locked in her stare, until I noticed the lack of oxygen in my lungs. I gasped and took a long ragged breath. Tanya began to laugh very loud, "You are so pathetic-" then her head snapped up and the grin on her face slowly disappeared. She looked over at Casey, and Casey rolled her eyes. Within a blink of my eye she was over by Casey, the two were talking very low and quickly about something.
Tanya finally looked over at me, "It seems your Romeo is here to rescue you. How romantic." As soon as those words left her mouth I heard a loud, ear shattering sound against the building. It was then apparent to me what her words actually meant- Edward was here. My heart almost palpitated out of my chest.
Tanya and Casey disappeared and I could hear loud thuds going off in the distance; obviously there was a struggle going on outside the building. Casey came back and the look on her face was livid. She looked at me, "I don't know what's going on with Tanya, but I can't be a part of this. I'm sorry Bella; please forgive me for even showing up. Don't worry, Edward is here with his family and others, you'll be fine." And with that, she was gone. The noise going on outside went quite.
There I was, sitting cold, hungry and alone in an abandoned warehouse. I had no idea where I was or what was happening outside. I felt useless and pathetic, just like Tanya said. I put Edward and his family through all this trouble, risking their secrecy and lives. Or whatever you called it…vampirism? I knew what was happening to me today was a result of me not being strong enough, I was weak. Edward deserved someone who was strong and just as gorgeous as he was.
My downward spiral into my depressive state was interrupted by a loud crash through one of the brick walls. Through the rebel, I saw two figures fighting, their motions were so fast I had no idea who was winning, nor could I recognize who either was. Before I could even register the large amount of air that was just forced from my lungs, I felt my body hit against a wall. The pain was excruciating, I barely had any time to regain air in my lungs before another pain struck my leg- a ripping ache fled through my entire body. A large piece of sharp wood had struck my leg leaving a huge gaping gash.
The blood began to pour out of my leg when I saw a group of people standing around me. How long had they been there?
They must have notice I was looking at them, a tall older looking man spoke first. He looked very uncomfortable- they all did. "Bella? Can you hear me?"
I heard him, but all I could think about was the pain. I mumbled some incoherent words, which he seemed to understand perfectly, he turned to the others, "She wants Edward. Garret, go get him- he needs to be here." I heard a response from Garret, who was quite younger.
"Eleazar, she's covered in blood, and Edward isn't thinking right at the moment. We need Carlisle…"
"Yes, go get him, hurry!" Eleazar said in a strained voice, "Bella, we are getting help. Try not to move too much, you're losing a lot of blood." I could feel my body getting light headed and my sight was blurry; my leg was at the point of numbness, which was helping. I knew I wouldn't be conscious much longer, but I was holding on for as long as I could.
I closed my eyes and waited for nothingness to consume me. I could vaguely hear what was going on outside around me.
"Bella?" I heard a beautiful voice call out.
"She's lost some blood, but the head womb isn't bad," Carlisle's calm voice broke through the commotion "Watch out for her leg, its cut pretty bad."
I could hear a loud noise and then a crashing sound. The calm voice left my side, "Edward! Calm down son, Bella needs us right now. Please." He broke off and came back to my side.
"Bella, for the amount of blood you've lost, you should be unconscious. You're doing so well and you're very strong. Just hang in there; I'll make the pain go away." Carlisle assures me.
I felt some tugging around the womb on my leg, and some slight pressure. My eyes were closed, so I assumed it was a makeshift tunic. I hear Carlisle say, "Edward, tell Alice to bring the car around, we need to get her back to the house as soon as possible, she needs stitches and something for the pain!" I didn't hear any response from Edward; I had no idea why he hadn't come near me yet. Maybe he realized I was a mistake and was regretting everything. The pain was worsening as I was fighting off unconsciousness. All I could think was Edward hated me, which made matters worse.
As I felt my body being lifted, everything started to slur, and I knew I was succumbing to slumber. The last few seconds I can remember before being laid into the car was an angel's voice whisper to me, "I love you."
