Today

Today was going to be the time that it all ended.

The anxiety. The fear. The confusion.

She was going to take back her life.

Seeing him kneeling in front of her, weak, helpless, the look of desperation in his eyes - the same way he'd made her feel all that time ago. If Sasuke hadn't come along... No. Misayu pushed it out of her mind. Now she was in control. The walls began to shake, the candles flickered and soon they were plunged into darkness. She could hear Kabuto's breathing getting faster.

"So you like being in control? Making people feel helpless? I can tell you now that's not going to happen ever again." Feeling the power wash over her in waves her she allowed herself to be taken over. Her body levitated as the chakra radiated from her body, spreading out behind her like wings. She stared down at him, her energy bathing the room in an eerie blue glow, his eyes wide with fear as he realised he was paralysed just as he'd done to her before. Raising her hands in front of her the ground began to shake, she focused harder as the ground began to part around her feet. The anger was taking over and there was less and less of Misayu left...

The darkness has taken over before, had destroyed her home, isolated her from her family, friends and everyone else she'd cared about. To be honest when Sasuke came into her room part of her was glad, hoping that someone in the village would be worried and want her back. But now what had plagued her was going to save her life. As the cocoon grew around Kabuto she felt herself grow stronger, like therapy for everything that had happened before now. The room starts to get dwarfed by the size of what will be Kabuto's coffin. Kneeling before her, seeing him so helpless Misayu's lips curve into a smile, "you're going to wish you'd never met me" and with a haunting laugh she raised her hands above her head ready to send him to the ground when she hears a voice behind her.

"Misayu, this isn't you. Stop!" The voice sounded familiar but strained, as if fighting for the words to come out. She twisted her hands slowly and moved the gap around Kabuto's neck as he gasped for air.
"STOP!" She felt the point of something sharp in her back, bringing her momentarily back to her senses. Sasuke? Why would he care if she killed him? She turned to face the person behind her and found sure enough it was Sasuke - blade in hand, eyes staring intently into hers.

"You want to try and stop me? What are you going to do, kill me? You think you can even touch me now? You won't even get close." The eerie smile crept back to her lips and she could see the impact of it in his eyes. How could he have changed so much? Just a short while ago he wouldn't give her the time of day now he's trying to stop her becoming someone else. "Misayu don't do this. Once you do you can never go back. Just leave him, I'll help you get out. I should've let you go when I first met you. Just please, for me, let him go and leave while you can."

She looked him up and down, the old part of her melting at his words, but the new her - this being that was taking over, that inside her - made her doubt. 'He's just trying to stop you killing him. He's on their side. You can't trust him...' The voices confused her and she paused stuck in time trying to figure out who she was.

"I - I. Can't... Trust you... You bought me here. You KEPT me here. You could've helped me get away at any point but only now when I threaten someone on your side do you try and help me. It's not going to work. I'm better than now. I'm better than anyone. I can't be stopped..." She turned away and tried to bring her arms down to bring Kabuto's life to an end but they were frozen. Looking before her Kabuto faded away and was replaced by the fields from her dreams. The sunshine warmed her skin, the sky expanded as far as she could see and the grass tickled her feet as she softly floated to the ground. The pollen danced in the air and butterflies bright and delicate emerged from the long grass and filled the flawless sky. The sounds of nature and freedom were all around and she felt the anger subside as she returned to the happier years before everything went wrong. She closed her eyes and allowed the happiness to wash over her, the soft glow from the sun still visible through her eyelids. But when she opened them all she saw was Kabuto's slit throat and the blood dripping from the end of Sasuke's blade.

"I won't let you become a killer. I won't let you become like me."
