Cabe was amazed at the wall display of weapons . " It looks as if this was used as a catalouge of the items he had for sale . "

Walter shrugged before saying anything . " I cannot imagine any decent arms dealer inviting any customers to the family home . No i think it was just for his own pleasure . "

Cabe just nodded and gave a bit of a grunt . " Can we see upstairs now ? " He asked .

" Follow me . " Walter replied as he turned and walked out of the small room and across to the door on the opposit wall .

They all climbed the stairs , Walter unlocked the door , reached in and switched the light on . They all made their way in , Ralph again walked over to the desk and computer , and rebooted the computer .

Cabe however was more interested in what Walter had found in the rear stockroom . Ralph stayed to work on more of the files on the computer . Walter led Cabe into the room , closely followed by Paige .

Walter showed Cabe the crate he had opened . Cabe picked up one of the rifles and very carefully examined it . " This is certainly the real thing , they appear to be unused , however the mark on the stock would indicate they were made for the American forces .

Cabe went very quite as he carried on checking the rifle out . After about five minutes , he carefully replaced it back in the crate . He walked over to the other cases , then turned back to Walter . " You think they all contain the same ? "

Walter , looked but said nothing for a few minutes . " Statisticaly it should be a 50 / 50 % chance , but i would predicate a 90% chance they are . "

Cabe just shook his head before speaking . " Could you show me the deeds of that wharehouse ? "

" Of course i left it on the bed downstairs . Have you seen enough up here ? " Walter replied .

" For now , unless Ralph as something to show me on the computer . " Cabe replied as he walked out of the room . Walter and Paige followed .

" Any more information of interest Ralph ? " Walter asked as he approached the desk .

" Not yet , just a lot more names . " Ralph replied without looking up from the screen .

" Ok Ralph close the computer down for now . " Walter told him .

" Ok dad . "

Cabe smiled at the interaction between the two of them , he had never seen such close interaction between a father and son , let alone two people who are not blood .

" Ok , let me see the deeds , then we can get back to Allie . What i need to tell you , i would like Allie to hear as well . "

The other three all gave Cabe a quizzical look , but no one said anything . They all left the room and once Walter had relocked the door , they made their way down to the bedroom .

Walter gave Cabe the deeds that had been found in the safe . Cabe gave it a quick glance , but noted it was signed over eight years previous .

Cabe kept hold of the deeds . " Ok lets go back to Allie , so we can sit down and i will explain what i am thinking . "

Once back in the kitchen , Walter went straight to check on Megan who was still asleep .

" She as been fine , not even a small murmer from her , she is obviously a very contented baby . " Allie said .

Paige a smile on her face . " Since Walter came into her life , she as seemed more content . Before she would cry everytime she woke up , it would often take me a hour to settle her back down . However now a couple of words to her and she is settled . "

Paige walked over to Walter and put her arms around him and whispered . " I am sure that is because of you . "

Cabe gave a light cough , Paige looked at him and mouthed . " Sorry . "

" When i first moved to L.A. Homeland's Office around seven years ago , the first task force i was assigned to was one trying to track down an arms dealer who was nicknamed the Phoenix , due to the fact every time we thought we had stopped him , he would rise again like the mythological bird .

I was with that force for nearly two tears . All of a sudden all traces of him or any dealings just stopped . You did say that this house as been empty for five years or more , that would be about the time the Phoenix disappeared .Do you know who the owner of the house was ? "

It was Ralph who spoke up . " Yes it is in the name of Mr and Mrs Squires . "

Cabe looked at Ralph a smile on his face . " I should have guessed you would know ."

Ralph just smiled . " Dad asked me to check the deeds on line and it gave me Mr Squires name , living at this address . "

Cabe looked at Walter and shook his head . " I think he could be worse than you were at his age . " A laugh quite clearly in his voice .

Paige a big smile on her face . " He can be a handfull , but we love him . "

Cabe pulled his phone out . " I think i need to call Katherine , it should be Carlson really , but i refuse to speak to him and if he knows Walter is involved he would probably ignore the information . "

Katherine answered on the third ring . " Hello Katherine , sorry to disturb you on a Sunday . " Cabe remained silent for a minute . " I am with Walter , Paige and Allie, plus two other people ._ No i am at Walter's house . _ He moved here about ten months ago . _ I need some advice but it is not something we should talk about on a open line ._ That would be good . " He turned to Walter "Katherine wants to come over . "

" No problem , it would be a pleasure to see her again . " Walter replied .

Cabe went back on the phone and gave Katherine Walter's address , then said goodbye .

" She should be here in the next hour , she said she is looking forward to seeing you again . " Cabe confirmed .

Ralph looked at Walter , the same look on his face that Paige uses when she wants Walter to do something . " Dad if Katherine is going to be here in a hour , does that give us time to check out the building in the garden ? "

Walter looked across at Paige , who just smiled and gave a small nod of her head .

" Ok , but i am taking my phone and as soon as your mom phones to say Katherine is here , we leave immediatly , no argument . "

Ralph's smile got bigger . " I can agree with that . "

Cabe looked at Walter . " What is so importent about the building ? "

Before Walter had a chance to answer . Ralph spoke . " We have no idea, we found it yesterday but it was locked , all the windows blacked out with blinds and the door was solid ."

" Well i think i had better come as well , you never know it could be dangerous . " Cabe said a big smile on his face .

Walter walked over to Paige, gave her a kiss and asked her to ring him as soon as Katherine arrived . Cabe kissed Allie before leaving . The three of them made their way over to the garden .

" Ralph seems very happy that you are back with Walter ." Allie said .

Paige smiled . " It as been his dream since he first met Walter , that he would become his dad and could live with both of us . "

Allie returned the smile . " So you intend to move in ? "

" Most definatly we would like nothing better . Walter just wants everything correct first , but if i have my way i would move in now , or at least once the curtains and bedding are back from the cleaners . This kitchen alone is to die for . " Paige's smile getting bigger as she again looked around the kitchen .

"I must admit , i would feel the same if i had a chance of using a kitchen like this . " Answered Allie .

" The only other room i have spent time in is Walter's bedroom . " Paige saw a smile begining to appear on Allie's face , " Not like that ! Yesterday Walter had arranged for a cleaning company to do a deep clean , they sent a ten man crew , the pool people sent a team of four . Walter began to panic a little so he phoned me and i offered to come over with Megan and Ralph . The only room he was not having cleaned was his bedroom , so we spent all day in there .

Allie smiled again . " I believe you . "

Paige smiled back . " it is a massive house , four bedrooms all en-suite , a seperate large family bathroom with a Jacuzzi whirlpool bath . Down here there is a seperate dining room , large living area and a conservatory , that looks almost as big as my condo . Every room is furnished and full of art and many trinkets . Richard signed the whole lot over to Walter . "

Allie had listened in silence . " Richard was very generous . "

Paige smiled again . " I think he would give Walter anything to keep him working for him "

The three men had reached the building , Walter was still being careful and had insisted that both Cabe and Ralph stand well back while he tried to open the lock . After the things he had found in the house he was almost certain there would not be any problems , but was not prepared to take any risks .

The second key he tried , opened the lock , he slowly pushed the handle down , as he felt a slight movement of the door he gently pushed the door , he felt no pressure as the door opened so he risked pushing it open . It was very dark inside , all windows seemed to be covered by blinds . He again used his phone light to find the light switch . Finding it he switched it on and the room was illuminated by eight six foot florescent tubes .

As soon as the lights came on Cabe and Ralph came up behind him . Looking in , they saw what appeared to be a laboratory . All along the back wall was a bench with two sinks complete with swan neck taps . The left hand wall was full of steel lockers . Four work benches were in the center of the floor . On the right hand wall was a desk , with a computer sat on it . Stood at the end of the desk was a large machine .

" That looks like a three D printer . " Ralph almost shouted .

Walter looked across at it . " I think you are correct . Now i want you to wait here , while grandad and me check the lockers out . Just in case . "

Walter and Cabe walked towards the lockers . Walter tried the first one , turning the handle slowly , as he felt the lock give he gently pulled the door open . Inside a collection of large plastic tubs containing what appeared small beads of coloured plastic .

Cabe opened the second locker , with as much care . This one contained containers of various chemical liquids , Cabe not knowing what they exactly contained closed the door with care . Once they had opened them all , a total of twelve , all except the last one contained similar items . The last one contained what could have been samples of plastic products , the majority appearing to be guns .

Walter called Ralph in . " Do you want to check out the computer ? "

Ralph's face lit up as he said . " You bet . "

He ran over to the desk and switched the computer on , as expected the battery was dead . He searched the desk drawers and found a power chord . Once connected to the mains the computer came alive .

Although password protected , within minutes he was in the computer system . He pulled up the files , the first one contained plans for a small gun , they showed various parts and material specifications designated as 3253LK . This raised his curiosty , he typed in the number , this bought up a detailed specification of the item .

" Dad , grandad you had better come and see this . "

Walter and Cabe walked over to him . " What's up buddy ? "

" This is the first first file i have pulled up , it appears to be plans for a non metalic gun , most likely made on the three D printer . It also looks like they have been experimenting on different formulas for the ideal material , hence the laboratory and three D printer . "

Walter looked at Cabe . " If they found or were close to finding that , it could be a real problem , as metal detectors would not pick them up . If Squires is the arms dealer you would think he could make a fortune out of the process . "

Cabe looked concerned . " This is something else Katherine needs to look at . You have certainly inherited a house with a lot of secrets . "

" I think Paige may have been correct earlier , when she said the Scorpion Curse had stuck again . "

Cabe gave Walter a confused look .
" Don't worry about that , it is not really importent . " Walter told him , but without any confiction in his voice .

As he finished speaking his phone rang checking the I.D. he saw , love of my life , He answered .

" Hello Paige -Ok we will be back in about ten minutes , love you . "

Walter turned to Ralph . " Ok that was your mom to say Katherine is here, so close down the computer and disconnect the power cable . "

Ralph , although disappointed , closed the computer down and pulled the power cable from the wall socket .

Ten minutes , the three of them were back in the kitchen , Katherine was standing by Paige , with Megan in her arms , quitely talking to her , so taken by the bundle in her arms she did not even know the three were back from from the garden .

" Good afternoon . " Cabe said , this caused Katherine to look up from Megan .

" Good afternoon Cabe , it is good to see you again Walter , you to Ralph . "

Walter and Ralph both acknowledge her . As Walter spoke , Megan began to wriggle in Katherine's arms and uttered a noise that sounded a lot like , Da , Da . Katherine looked worried , Paige put her hand on her arm .

" Don't worry , Megan is a proper daddy's girl , every time she hears his voice , she needs to see him . "

Walter walked straight over and pulled the blanket back a little . " Now then my little princess , you are worrying Katherine , she is a nice lady and will always protect you . "

Megan's face again broke into a big smile and again she uttered Da, Da . Paige looked at Walter , surprise on her face .

" Can you remember at what age you first spoke ? "

" Mom did tell me that at three months , i used to say something like mig , which she assumed was me asking for Megan. Why? "

" Because i am sure your little girl is trying to say daddy . It looks like we may have another genius in the family . " Paige told him with a big smile on her face .

Katherine handed Megan to Walter . The big smile on Walter's face matching the one on Megan's face .

" Well at least you have had some practise with Ralph . " Katherine told Paige .

" Don't i know it . " Paige replied but with a smile on her face .

Walter looked at Megan , his face full of love . " I am going to pass you to your mommy so i can tell Katherine why we have asked her over here . "

At first Megan's smile went from her face until Walter spoke again . " Now be a good girl for me . " Her smile reappeared as he handed her over to Paige .

Cabe began explaining everything to Katherine about what Walter had found in the house and also about Phoenix . Walter and Ralph then told her , as well as Paige and Allie , all about what they had found in the garden building .

She listened in silence , while the three of them , were talking . Once they had finished , she still sat silent for a few moments .

" I think i should see everything you have found , if there is anyway to prove this was the Phoenix , it could close the case . It could maybe also give us leads to some of the arms dealers still operating .

Cabe looked at Walter . " It is your house do we need a warrent ? "

Walter looked at Paige before speaking . "Of course not. But i think Ralph and myself should accompany you . "

Katherine smiled . " I would not expect anything less , plus you are probably the best people i know to break all the computer codes . "

Both Walter and Paige smiled , Ralph just said . " Of course . "

Paige looked at Walter . " Is it alright if i take Megan to your bedroom to change and feed her . "

Walter smiled . " You do not never need to ask to go anywhere in the house , it is as much yours as it is mine . "

Paige smiled , walked across to him and planted a kiss on his lips , as she pulled back she whispered . " I am so glad we are back together , i love you with all my heart . "

Walter led them out of the kitchen up to the corridor bedroom .

Paige and Allie remained in the kitchen , Allie began walking around the kitchen , still trying to take everything in . After about five minutes , Megan began to make herself known . Paige looked at Allie who was admiring the coffee machine on the side counter .

" I think the little lady is hungry . Would you like to come up to Walter's bedroom so i can feed and change her . "

"Allie looked a little surprised . " Why not down here ? "

Paige a small smile on her face . " I am breast feeding so i do not want one of the others walking in on me . Walter knows , so he will not let anyone into his bedroom . So could you please pick up my large bag and carry it up for me . I will put Megan in her bassenet to carry her up . "

Allie picked the bag up and with a smile on her face said . " Lets go then . "

Walter and Cabe showed Katherine the room with the display of weapons , she jumped to the same conclusion as Cabe , but Walter gave her the same explanation as he had given Cabe . After a few seconds she also accepted the reason .

Ralph had gone straight up to the other room and reconnected the power chord and rebooted the computer , once it was ready he decided to recheck the folders , but this time he entered a command for file names .

Within seconds a long list appeared on the screen , he began to scan the list . His eyes spotted a name that caused him some concern . He hit a key to bring the folder on the screen , it was another with a password , which he bypassed in seconds .

He began reading the file , it seemed to consist mainly of a list of payments paid to an offshore account , so engrossed with what he was doing , he did not hear the three other people enter the room .

Walter broke his concentration as he spoke to him . " What are you doing Ralph ? "

Ralph bought his head up quickly , but ignored Walter and spoke to Cabe . " Grandad was Carlson at Homeland when you first arrived ? "

Cabe did not hesitate before answering . " Yes in fact he was the leader for the Phoenix job . Why ?"

" I think you and Ms. Cooper , should come and read this file . "

Cabe looked at Katherine . " After you . "

They both moved towards the desk , Ralph turned the laptop around so it was facing them . Both of them began to read the screen , there faces changing from curiosty almost to fear .

Walter had stayed on the other side of the room , but eventually his curiosty got the better of him so he walked over to Cabe and Katherine and looked over their shoulders .

Have you started to trace the money , Ralph ? " He asked with a certain amount of pride on his face .

" Not yet , i had only just opened the file when you all came in . " Ralph replied .

" Do you think the money could be traced ? " Katherine asked , without looking up from the screen .

Both Walter and Ralph answered . " Yes " simultaneously .

A smile broke out on Katherine's face . " I don't know why i bothered asking . "

Cabe had a very serious look on his face . " That must be the reason we were always to late when it came to finding Phoenix , Carlson was in his pocket .

Katherine , her face showing a lot of concern . " You know what this is going to mean , if we can find conclusive proof , it will cause a real upheaval through out Homeland . What other cases he as been involved in over the years have been comprimised by him accepting money or gifts to hinder the investigations . The big problem we are going to have is that Carlson now has complete control over the L.A Office , i do not think it can be investigated by anyone at the office . "

Walter's mind was already going through various scenarios of what could be done .

" If we can trace the offshore account , we may be able to trace other payments , that may have been paid into the account . If we can get that sort of proof , would it be possible to bring two or three agents from another office to investigate the Homeland side of at least the Phoenix case . "

Katherine said nothing for a while , her face not giving anything away . Eventually she gave a sigh . " You no longer have Homeland clearance , since you cancelled the Scorpion contract with them . I cannot give you official clearance , because that would mean going through Carlson . To do that would raise a red flag , plus the way Carlson feels about you , he most likely would not grant it . "

A smile broke out on Walter's face . " Whenever have i worried about permisson . I can phone Richard and ask for a couple of days holiday . I can ask Paige if it would be alright for Ralph to take a couple of days off school . But i am not promising anything yet Ralph until i speak to your mom .

With regard to the weapons , i think for a couple of days you forget all about them . If you mention anything about it at Homeland , Carlson will know and it could put him on his guard ."

Katherine smiled " You make a very good point . What Weapons ? " She said as the smile on her face got bigger .

" I suggest we close the computer down for now and go back down to the ladies were we can talk about exactly what to do over a cup of coffee .

Pearliegirl In the UK we have a saying , as long as a piece of string , if you are unsure how long something is going to be , original plan was for a four/ five chapters , but the story decided to go in a completly differnt direction , so maybe twenty chapters could be nearer the mark , no kidnapping , i promise ,fingers crossed behind my back .
