X-Men: An Unnatural Omega Volume 2

Chapter 11: Into The Vault, and The Tragedy and A Soul For a Soul

Mr. Sinister sat in his lab, staring at the screens in front of him as he communicated with Cerebro. "We need to find a way to get to Derreck," he said, his voice low and calculating. "His love for Laura is his only weakness."

Cerebro hummed in agreement, the sound echoing through the room. "What do you propose we do?"

Mr. Sinister leaned back in his chair, his fingers steepled in front of him. "I've been considering the Children of the Vault," he said slowly. "Their time is accelerated, so a few thousand years in their world would be only a few moments in ours."

Cerebro hummed again, processing the information. "And what is your plan for dealing with the Children of the Vault?"

Mr. Sinister smirked. "We send in a team. Laura, Darwin, Logan's son, and Honeybadger. They can handle it. And once they're in, we can use that as an opportunity to send Derreck in as well."

Cerebro considered the plan for a moment before nodding. "It could work," it said. "But you must be careful. The Children of the Vault are not to be trifled with."

Mr. Sinister's smirk widened. "I'm always careful," he said. "And with Laura and the others on the job, we'll have nothing to worry about."

Mr. Sinister stood before the council, his arms crossed and a sly smirk on his face. "My esteemed colleagues, I come to you with a proposal," he said smoothly. "As you may be aware, the Children of the Vault have been causing quite a bit of trouble lately. I propose that we send in a team to deal with them."

Logan narrowed his eyes, suspicion written all over his face. "And what team do you have in mind?" he asked warily.

Mr. Sinister's smirk widened. "Why, I propose we send in Laura, Darwin, Logan's son Damion, and Honey Badger. I have outfitted them with special equipment that will give them an edge in combat."

The council members murmured amongst themselves, considering Mr. Sinister's proposal. "It sounds risky," Storm said finally. "Sending in such a small team to deal with the Children of the Vault."

Mr. Sinister waved a hand dismissively. "Nonsense, my dear Storm. These mutants are more than capable of handling themselves. And with the equipment I have provided, they will have the upper hand."

Logan still looked suspicious, but he couldn't deny that the plan had potential. "What about backup?" he asked.

Logan, who was also present at the meeting, voiced his concerns about the plan. "I don't like the idea of sending in young mutants on a dangerous mission like this," he said.

Mr. Sinister reassured Logan, "They'll be well-equipped and well-trained. And if anything goes wrong, we can always send in Derreck."

Logan still looked unconvinced but didn't say anything more. The council members gave their approval and the plan was set in motion.

As Laura, Honey Badger, Darwin, and Logan's son Damion head to the Vault, Laura expresses her unease about the mission. She doesn't like the idea of potentially putting herself and her friends in danger. Darwin tries to reassure her that they will be well-prepared and that they have a good chance of success.

Damion seems excited about the mission, eager to prove himself to his father and the rest of the X-Men. Honey Badger, as always, is full of enthusiasm and optimism, cracking jokes and making light of the situation. But Laura can't shake the feeling that something is not right.

As they approach the Vault, they see the massive structure looming in the distance. It looks like a city, with towering buildings and sprawling streets, but it's all contained within a single dome. Laura wonders what kind of people could live in such a place, cut off from the rest of the world for centuries or even millennia. She shudders at the thought of what they might find inside.

Logan greeted the team at the entrance of the vault, along with Forge, who had prepared their equipment for the mission. As they prepared to enter, Logan pulled Laura aside and spoke to her in a low voice.

"Be careful, kid," he said. "I don't trust Sinister, and I've got a bad feeling about this."

Laura nodded, knowing Logan's intuition was usually spot on. "I will," she said. "But what choice do we have? We need to find out what's going on in there."

Logan sighed. "I know," he said. "Just be on your guard, and watch your back."

Laura nodded again, then turned to join the rest of the team as they entered the vault. She couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled in her stomach, but she pushed it aside and focused on the mission at hand.

A few minutes later….

Logan and Forge looked at each other in shock and disbelief as they realized that they had lost all contact with the mutants they had just sent into the vault. Their monitors had suddenly shut off, and there were no life signs coming through.

"What the hell just happened?" Logan muttered under his breath.

"I don't know, Logan," Forge replied, his voice laced with concern. "But we need to figure out what's going on in there."

Logan nodded in agreement, and the two of them immediately began trying to reestablish contact with the mutants inside the vault. But no matter what they tried, there was no response.

Logan's worries about resurrection not being true weighed heavily on him as he and Forge tried to figure out what had happened to the four mutants who went into the vault. He knew that even with resurrection, they might just be creating clones and not truly bringing back the fallen mutants.

Forge nodded in agreement with Logan's suggestion to alert the council. "We need to let them know what's going on," he said. "We can't just assume the worst and leave it at that."

Logan clenched his fists, feeling helpless and frustrated. "But what can they do?" he said. "If the worst has already happened, there's nothing anyone can do about it. They'll just have to accept it and move on."

Forge shook his head. "We can't just give up like that," he said. "We owe it to them to find out what happened and try to bring them back, if we can."

Logan sighed heavily, knowing that Forge was right. "Okay," he said. "Let's alert the council and see if they can help us figure this out."

Logan couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. "I don't trust that Sinister," he muttered, pacing back and forth.

Forge nodded in agreement. "Me neither," he said, tapping away at his computer. "But we have to be careful about how we approach this. We don't want to cause a panic."

Logan growled, frustrated. "How the hell are we supposed to tell Derreck about this?" he asked, rubbing his temples.

Forge sighed heavily. "I don't know," he admitted. "But we can't keep this from him. He has a right to know."

Logan nodded, reluctantly. "Yeah, you're right," he said. "But we have to be careful about how we do it. We don't want him to do something rash."

Forge nodded in agreement. "I'll start drafting a message to the council," he said. "We need to let them know what happened."

Logan grunted in acknowledgement, still deep in thought. "And we need to figure out what the hell Sinister is up to," he added. "I don't like this one bit."

Jean takes a deep breath before answering the council's question. "We need to investigate this further," she says firmly. "We can't continue to rely on resurrection if it's not a guaranteed process. We need to find out if there's any truth to Tenebrous' son's claims and if there's a way to make resurrection more reliable."

The council members nod in agreement, but Mr. Sinister speaks up. "What if we focus on finding a way to bring mutants back without relying on resurrection?" he suggests. "We could explore alternative methods, such as cloning or genetic reconstruction."

Logan bristles at Mr. Sinister's words, his suspicions about the geneticist rising once again. "And what happens if we can't bring someone back?" he asks sharply. "We just accept their loss and move on?"

Mr. Sinister shakes his head. "Of course not," he replies smoothly. "But we need to be prepared for any eventuality. We can't put all our eggs in one basket, so to speak."

Jean speaks up again, trying to diffuse the tension in the room. "I think we need to consider all options," she says. "But we also need to be cautious and make sure that any method we use is ethical and doesn't compromise the integrity of our community."

The council members nod in agreement, and the discussion continues as they try to find a way forward. However, Logan can't shake his unease about Mr. Sinister's true motives and the potential danger that could come from his plans.

As soon as Derreck learned about the situation, a growl of anger rumbled from his chest and shook the walls of the council chambers. He stood outside the door with Jubilee, the other Laura, and the other Logan, his eyes blazing with fury.

The council members looked up from their discussion, startled by the sudden commotion. Jean Grey, who was still standing at the center of the room, stepped forward cautiously. "Derreck, what's wrong?" she asked.

Derreck looked right at her and says...Dont play dumb with me, I know about the suicide mission you guys sent laura on...! to jean grey as they realize he knows and there's something...different about him now...something that logan didn't see before...

Jean looks surprised and concerned. "Derreck, how did you find out about that?" she asks, trying to remain calm.

"I have my ways," Derreck growls, his eyes glowing with an intense fury. "Now tell me, is it true? Did you send Laura and the others on a suicide mission?"

Jean takes a deep breath and nods, looking down at her hands. "Yes, we did," she admits. "But we had no idea that it would turn out like this. Something went wrong in the Vault, and we lost all contact with them. We don't know what happened."

Derreck clenches his fists, his anger boiling over. "You sent them to their deaths without a second thought?" he snarls. "And what about Laura? Did you even consider what would happen to her?"

Jean looks up at him, her expression solemn. "We didn't know, Derreck," she says softly. "We thought it was the best option at the time. And as for Laura, we had no idea that Mr. Sinister had ulterior motives. We were trying to protect her, but it seems we failed."

Jean Grey and the rest of the council watched in shock as Derreck's anger erupted, his blade arm tearing into the wall of the council chambers. Logan moved to intervene, but Jubilee put a hand on his arm, silently signaling for him to wait.

"Dereck, calm down," Jean said, her voice firm but calming. "We didn't send Laura on a suicide mission."

Derreck turned his gaze to Jean, his eyes blazing with fury. "Don't lie to me, Jean," he growled. "I know what's going on. Mr. Sinister is using Laura as bait to get to me."

Logan's eyes widened in surprise as he heard this, and he took a step forward. "What do you mean, using Laura as bait?" he asked, his voice low and dangerous.

Derreck's eyes glinted with fury as he turned to face the council. "I read that sicko's mind," he growled, his voice low and dangerous. "I saw everything he was planning on doing."

The members of the council exchanged wary glances, unsure of what to say. Derreck's anger was palpable, and they knew that he was not to be trifled with.

"What did you see?" Jean asked, her voice calm and measured.

"I saw him using Laura as bait," Derreck spat. "He was planning on sacrificing her to get to me."

There was a collective gasp from the council, and Jean's expression hardened. "We had no knowledge of this plan, Derreck," she said firmly. "We would never condone using our own people as bait."

"And it gets even worse...I looked ahead into the future as he saw him resurrect all of them after killing the quiet council, and logan and hope summers, only to make them like him...while blaming it on orchis and wiping out the galaxy in the next 1000, through 2000 years making them just as guilty as him...humanity included". Derreck said while his eye's darted around the room.

The room falls silent as Derreck's words sink in. The other members of the council exchange worried glances, and Jean's face pales at the prospect of such a catastrophic future. "We had no idea," she says, her voice barely above a whisper.

Derreck snarls in frustration. "You should have known," he says. "You should have seen through his lies and manipulations. He's been playing you all for fools."

Logan steps forward, placing a hand on Derreck's shoulder. "Easy, kid," he says. "We'll take care of it. We'll stop him."

Logan steps back, his gaze meeting Derreck's with a flicker of recognition and understanding. He knows that look, that simmering anger, and it makes him nervous.

But before he can say anything, Derreck continues, his voice growing more intense. "And it gets worse," he says. "When we finally decapitated him in the future, it didn't matter. They cloned Maria and used her to continue the cycle, again and again and again. And now he's already cloned her, using her to wipe out whole futures."

The room falls silent, the gravity of the situation weighing heavily on everyone. Jean Grey steps forward, her expression grim.

Mr. Sinister begins to shift nervously in his seat as he realizes that his carefully laid plans have been exposed far too early. He starts to sweat as he looks around at the angry faces of Derreck, Logan, and the rest of the council.

"Listen, I had no intention of..." Mr. Sinister starts to say, but Derreck cuts him off with a growl.

As Derreck was consumed with anger and thoughts of the dark future that Mr. Sinister was planning, he suddenly lashed out. In one swift motion, he pulled out his blade arm and sliced through Mr. Sinister's body, cutting him into small cubes. Blood and gore splattered everywhere, but Derreck didn't care. He had had enough of Mr. Sinister's lies and manipulations.

After that display Derreck just look at them in disgust and say, "...no worries...he had backups that you guys didn't know about...ones that are next when I find them...".

After the sudden, gruesome death of Mr. Sinister, the room fell silent as the council members looked on in shock and horror. But when they turned to face Derreck, they saw that he was already moving, his eyes distant and glazed over.

For a moment, he stood there, motionless, as if lost in thought. Then, without a word, he turned and teleported out of the room, leaving behind a palpable sense of anger and sadness.

Logan and Jean looked at each other, the weight of the situation heavy on their shoulders. They knew that they had made a grave mistake by allowing Mr. Sinister onto the council, and now they were faced with the consequences of their actions.

As they looked around the room, they saw that the other council members were just as stunned and silent as they were. No one knew what to say or do in the wake of Derreck's departure.

After a long moment of uncomfortable silence, Logan cleared his throat and spoke up. "We need to find him," he said, his voice heavy with concern. "We need to talk to him, see if we can help him through this."

Jean nodded in agreement. "You're right," she said. "We can't let him go off on his own like this. Who knows what he might do?"

after Derreck teleports out of the council chambers, Jean and the others feel a sense of sympathy towards him. They discuss the implications of Mr. Sinister's plans and the danger they all were in.

As Jean attempts to locate Derreck, she realizes that he is blocking her telepathic probes. Concerned for his safety and well-being, she decides to physically search for him. She checks the security feeds and discovers that he has teleported to the entrance of the vault, where they had sent the team.

Worried and apprehensive, Jean teleports to the vault entrance and finds Derreck standing there, looking at the sealed door with a mixture of anger and sadness.

Derreck just growl as he stares at the vault door and he says. "...Why are you here...?" without turning around to look at jean grey...

Jean paused for a moment before answering, "I'm here because I'm worried about you, Derreck. I know this has been hard for you."

Derreck didn't respond, instead he continued to stare at the vault door. It was clear that he was lost in thought, consumed by his own emotions.

"Derreck, please," Jean said softly, stepping closer to him. "Talk to me. Let me help you."

For a long moment, Derreck didn't say anything, but then he finally turned to face Jean. His eyes were cold and distant, and there was a fierce anger burning behind them.

I trusted all of you...bled my secret's to you...even died for you all when tenebrous killed me...and this is what you do to me?! more lies and secrets behind my back...?! As jean recoiled Dereck would lash out saying...there is no fixing this world we live in...we are destined to carry the weight of our sins that effect others around us forever, ….you want to know what can help me...is get the hell out of my sight and open the damned door to the vault!

Jean stood there, stunned by Derreck's words. She had never seen him this angry before. "Derreck, I-" she began, but he cut her off.

"Don't," he growled, his eyes burning with fury. "I trusted you all, and you betrayed me. You sent them in there, knowing what was at stake. And now you want me to fix your mess? No. You can't fix this world. You can't fix what's been done. But you can open that damn door and let me go in there and find them."

Jean recoiled slightly at Derreck's outburst, her heart heavy with guilt and remorse. "Derreck, we didn't know-" she began, but he cut her off with a growl.

"You didn't know?!" he spat, turning to face her with wild, angry eyes. "You trusted that sicko Sinister and sent Laura and the others into that damn vault without even telling me?! What kind of leader are you? What kind of people are you?"

Jean opened her mouth to respond, but Derreck didn't give her the chance. "There's no fixing this world," he continued, his voice low and bitter. "No matter how many times we die and come back, nothing changes. And now, because of your lies and secrets, Laura and the others are probably dead. All I have left is my rage."

He took a deep breath and turned back to the vault door. "Get out of my sight," he growled. "And open the door. Now."

As Jean watched Derreck walk towards the vault, she couldn't help but feel a sense of guilt and shame wash over her. She knew that they had failed him and that their actions had caused him pain and anger.

She took a deep breath and stepped forward, placing her hand on the door. With a silent prayer, she pushed it open, allowing Derreck to step inside. She watched him disappear into the darkness, his figure becoming smaller and smaller until he was nothing but a silhouette.

As the door closed behind him, Jean felt a sense of finality settle over her. She knew that they had to make things right with Derreck, but she also knew that it would not be easy. The trust that they had built with him had been shattered, and it would take time to regain it.

Jean turned and walked away from the vault, the weight of the situation heavy on her heart. She knew that they had a lot of work to do, and she was determined to make things right, no matter the cost.

Jean's heart was pounding as she watched the entrance to the vault, waiting for any sign of Derreck and his team. The tension in the air was palpable as she heard crashes and screams coming from inside, and she couldn't help but wonder what was happening in there.

Suddenly, the noises stopped, and there was an eerie silence that fell over the area. Jean held her breath, waiting for something to happen, anything to happen. And then, the door to the vault creaked open, and Derreck emerged, carrying Laura's lifeless body.

Jean rushed forward, her heart sinking at the sight of Laura's still form. Honey badgerand Damion followed behind, both looking devastated, and an older Darwin trailed after them with a sad expression.

"What happened?" Jean asked, her voice shaking.

Derreck didn't answer, but he didn't need to. The look on his face said it all. Something terrible had happened in the vault, and they had paid a heavy price for it.

Jean could feel tears welling up in her eyes as she realized that they had failed. They had sent these mutants on a suicide mission, and they had lost Laura in the process. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but she knew that they would have to face the consequences of their actions.

As Derreck disappeared into the distance, Jean and the others could only stand there in shock, their hearts heavy with the weight of what they had just witnessed. They couldn't help but wonder if resurrection was even real, or if it was just another lie they had been fed.

But Jean knew that she couldn't just stand there and do nothing. She had to do something to try and help Laura, to try and bring her back from the brink of death. With a heavy heart, she made her way into the vault, hoping to find some clue as to what had happened to their team.

But as she walked through the devastated city, she saw nothing but death and destruction. The air was thick with the stench of decay, and the ground was littered with the bodies of mutants and humans alike.

It was clear that something terrible had happened here, something beyond their worst nightmares. And as Jean stood there in the ruins of that once-great city, she couldn't help but wonder if there was any hope left for their world.

Jean listened intently as the other three mutants explained what had happened inside the vault. They told her that they had been in cryogenic suspension until Derreck had broken them out, but that Laura had died first and it had set Derreck off. They said that he had gone on a rampage, tearing through the Children of the Vault and anyone who got in his way, until he had finally found her lifeless body.

Jean felt a lump form in her throat as she heard this. She had known that the mission was dangerous, but she had never imagined that it would end like this. She couldn't even begin to imagine what Derreck must be feeling right now.

"He was...broken," Darwin said softly, his eyes downcast. "I've never seen him like that before. He...he killed so many of them. And then he just...picked up Laura's body and walked out of there."

Jean nodded, tears in her eyes. "We have to do something," she said, her voice choked with emotion. "We have to try and bring her back."

But as she looked back into the vault, she knew that it was too late. All she could see was a wrecked city and mountains of bodies, all dead. The Children of the Vault had been wiped out, and there was nothing left to bring Laura back from.

Jean turned away from the vault, feeling a sense of despair wash over her. She knew that they had failed Derreck and Laura, and that there was nothing they could do to make it right.

Jean, Honey Badger, and Darwin walked into the council chambers with heavy hearts, knowing that they had to deliver the terrible news. Logan was already there, cleaning up the remnants of Mr. Sinister's gruesome demise.

Jean took a deep breath and began to speak. "We went to the vault, and... it was a disaster. Derreck went in after them, and when he came out, he was carrying Laura's lifeless body."

Honey Badger added, "We were in cryogenic suspension, and when we woke up, we found that Laura had lost her powers. She died first, and that set Derreck off."

The news of Laura's death hit Logan like a ton of bricks. His face grew pale, and his eyes widened in shock and horror. He had lost so much already, and now to lose his own daughter... it was almost too much to bear.

Jean could see the pain etched on Logan's face and walked over to him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Logan, I'm so sorry," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Logan didn't say anything, but he could feel tears welling up in his eyes. He had lost so much in his long life, but this felt different. This was his daughter, his flesh and blood. And now she was gone, possibly forever.

Honey Badger and Darwin watched the exchange between Jean and Logan with sadness in their eyes. They knew that Laura's death was a devastating blow, not just for Logan but for all of them. They had all been a team, a family, and now one of them was gone.

After a moment of silence, Jean spoke up again. "We don't know if resurrection is real anymore," she said, her voice heavy with emotion. "But we have to try. We have to keep fighting, for Laura and for all of us."

Logan stands there in silence, his face a mask of grief and anger. He had lost so many people in his life, and now he had lost his own daughter. He couldn't help but wonder if resurrection was even real, or if they were just creating copies of the mutants they had lost. He looked over at Damion, who was also struggling to hold back tears.

Jean and Honey Badger looked at the two men with sympathy, but they didn't know what to say. They had lost someone important to them as well, but it was different. Laura was Logan's daughter, and he had watched her grow up and become the strong, fierce warrior that she was. Damion had only recently found out about his family ties to Laura, but he had grown to care for her deeply.

Logan finally speaks up, his voice hoarse with emotion. "We have to find out what really happened in there. We need to know if resurrection is real or not." His words hang heavy in the air, a reminder of the uncertainty that now looms over them.

The room falls silent once again, as the council members process the news of Laura's death and the questions that Logan's words have raised. It's clear that they need to take action, to find out the truth and to prevent any more senseless deaths from occurring.

But as they start to make plans, Logan can't shake the feeling that something even more sinister is lurking just around the corner.

Mistress death would materialize in the room and say...I told you what would happen if you continued to cross my son...and you didn't listen...now it's not only him who's paying the price... she said in a calm, reflective voice.

The room fell silent as Mistress Death materialized before them, her presence sending a shiver down their spines. Jean Grey stepped forward, her expression serious as she addressed the entity before her.

"Mistress Death, we never intended for any harm to come to Derreck," she said, her voice even. "We were only trying to protect our people."

Mistress Death regarded her with a cool gaze, her skeletal face revealing nothing of her emotions. "You have always played a dangerous game, Jean Grey," she replied. "And now you are reaping what you have sown."

Logan stepped forward, his eyes blazing with anger. "What do you want?" he growled. "Why are you here?"

Mistress Death turned to him, her expression unreadable. "I am here to offer my condolences," she said. "And to remind you that the price of meddling with the natural order of things is always high."

Mistress Death's calm demeanor shifted slightly as she made her request. "I have the means to bring her back," she said, her voice carrying a hint of urgency. "But it can only be done once, and it will come at a cost. Are you willing to pay it?"

The Quiet Council exchanged worried glances, unsure of what this cost could be. But Logan spoke up, his voice strained with emotion. "I'll pay any cost to bring my daughter back," he said, his fists clenched at his sides.

Mistress Death nodded, acknowledging his answer. "Very well," she said. "Follow me."

The group followed Mistress Death out of the council chambers and into a dark, otherworldly realm. There, in the distance, they could see Derreck standing alone, cradling Laura's lifeless body in his arms. As they approached, they could see the pain etched on his face, and they knew that he had been through so much already.

Mistress Death approached Derreck and offered him a deal. "I can bring her back," she said. "But in exchange, I require a soul. One of your choosing."

Death appeared before them, her elegant and otherworldly form radiating with a soft, pulsating energy. Her eyes fell on Derreck and she gave him a faint nod of acknowledgment before turning to the rest of the council.

"I have heard your pleas, and I understand your pain," she said in a voice that seemed to carry both sorrow and power. "But there is a price to be paid for the return of a soul. A soul for a soul."

The room fell silent as everyone processed her words. Jean stepped forward, her eyes pleading. "Please, is there no other way?"

Death shook her head. "This is the way of things. But I am willing to make a deal. I will accept the soul of the one who took Laura from you."

The council members looked at each other in silence before finally nodding in agreement. They knew the risk of bargaining with Mistress Death, but they also knew how much Laura meant to Derreck. Logan, however, remained quiet, still grappling with the weight of his daughter's death.

As the council and Derreck were discussing the offer of Mr. Sinister's soul, suddenly, the void that Death occupied flickered and warped, and Mr. Sinister appeared before them, looking around in confusion. His face paled when he saw Mistress Death, and he realized that he had made a grave mistake in crossing her.

Death looked at him with a cold stare and spoke in a low, menacing voice. "I told you twice not to try my patience, and yet you crossed me a third time. You should know better than to underestimate the power of Death."

Mr. Sinister tried to plead with her, but she cut him off. "Your fate has already been decided. Your soul is mine now."

Without another word, she took Mr. Sinister's soul and disappeared back into the void. The council members and Derreck watched in shock as she left, but they knew that she had acted in the best interest of her son and the future of the mutant race.

But just as he was about to speak, Laura stirred in his arms, her eyes fluttering open as if waking from a long dream. Derreck's heart swelled with joy as he held her tighter, and he knew in that moment that he would never let her go again.

The room was filled with a somber silence as Derreck helped Laura to her feet. The council members stood there, looking on with a mixture of relief and guilt. They knew that they had nearly caused irreparable harm to their own kind by allowing Mr. Sinister to infiltrate their ranks.

Derreck held Laura close to him, his eyes closed as if in prayer. He was grateful to have her back, but the knowledge that her life had been lost because of their mistake weighed heavily on his soul.

The other mutants in the room stood there, unsure of what to do or say. They knew that they had to find a way to move forward, to learn from their mistakes and do better in the future. But for now, they simply stood there, silent and contemplative, as the weight of their actions bore down upon them.

After the exchange of Mr. Sinister's soul for Laura's revival, the room was filled with a palpable sense of relief. Derreck held Laura close to him, tears streaming down his face, while the other mutants looked on with a mixture of awe and gratitude.

Suddenly, Mistress Death appeared once more, her presence commanding the attention of everyone in the room. She approached Derreck, and with a gentle smile, she kissed his forehead, saying, "I look forward to being there when you two forge your own future together."

Derreck looked up at her, his eyes wide with surprise and gratitude. For the first time since he had lost Laura, he felt a glimmer of hope for the future. With a nod, he turned to the others, his face set with determination.

As Laura, Logan, Honey-Badger, Darwin, and Damion walked out of the council chambers, Derreck followed closely behind with his arm around Laura's waist. The weight of their recent experiences hung heavily on all of them, and there was a somber air to their procession.

Meanwhile, inside the council chambers, the quiet council was left to grapple with the gravity of their actions. With Mr. Sinister gone, they knew that they had narrowly avoided a catastrophic outcome. They began to debate their next steps and how they could regain the trust of the mutants they were sworn to protect.

As the council discussed, Derreck and the others walked through the halls of Krakoa, their footsteps echoing in the emptiness. Despite the weight of recent events, there was a sense of hopefulness among them, a sense that they had weathered a storm and come out the other side.

Laura looked up at Derreck, her eyes filled with gratitude, and she spoke softly, "Thank you for bringing me back."

Derreck looked down at her, his eyes softening, "I'll always be here for you, Laura."

As Laura spoke, Derreck stepped forward and took her hand in his, gazing at her with a mixture of love and relief. She leaned in and kissed him, and he returned the kiss with equal passion. Logan looked on approvingly, nodding in silent approval of the pair's affection.

The other Laura, Honey Badger, Darwin, and Damion followed behind, walking out of the council chambers in a somber procession. The weight of what they had just experienced was heavy on their minds, and they walked in silence, lost in their own thoughts.

As they walked, Derreck and Laura stayed close together, their hands intertwined. Despite everything they had been through, they had each other, and for now, that was enough. Logan walked beside them, his eyes fixed on the horizon, lost in his own thoughts. The future was uncertain, but for now, they had each other, and that was all that mattered.

Well guys….this was a tough chapter for me to write and if you have any input on what should happen next give me a comment….and don't worry….Dereck and Laura's adventures aren't over yet….
