After having breakfast, Adorabella got her cloak and necklace on. Adorabella and Rainbow Dash then left for the post office. While on the way, Rainbow Dash explained the process of getting the job. With both being some of the fastest of flyers, they arrived at the post office very quickly.
The post office is a small-ish building, made of old but still bright construction blocks, with wooden frames and a dark purple tile-made roof. There is a wooden flat roof that goes over the door. Around the back is a cart, presumably used for delivering really heavy parcels.
Adorabella went to leap out of the way as she notices a grey blur come towards her. But she didn't need to as Rainbow Dash lunges and pushes Adorabella out of the way, and both fell down onto the hard muddy ground. Rainbow Dash gets up and helps Adorabella get up, who is struggling to. She then notices her hood came down and pulls it back up.
Moments later where they were standing, the grey blur crashes. It is a grey pegasus mare with a blonde mane and tail wearing a brown coat and a brown cap. She gets up and shakes her head. The eyes of the grey mare is unique, honey irises, and they're pointing in different directions.
"Hey- are you alright?" Rainbow Dash went over to check on the grey pegasus.
"Yeah I'm okay," She replied.
"H- hi..." Adorabella shyly steps forward, pulling down the hood on her cloak.
"You got lovely eyes," The grey pegasus cheerily complimented, smiling.
"Th- than- thanks..." Adorabella stammered, shyly tilting her head to right, shyly hiding her left eye.
"What's your name?" The grey pegasus asked.
"A- Adorabella," The white pegasus stuttered, taking a few shy steps back, partially hiding behind her mane.
"It's a vwery pwetty name. My name is Derpy, or Ditzy. Either is fine," The grey pegasus cheerily responded.
"Uh- um... do you have a... another name? I- I feel bad calling you by- by Derpy or Ditzy... even if you're okay with it..." Adorabella asked. Adorabella knows 'derpy' means clumsy and 'ditzy' means scatterbrained. Adorabella didn't feel comfortable at all calling somepony something not nice, because it'd be like somepony calling her by her school nickname, Ghost.
"I'm also known as Muffins. You can call me that as well," Derpy replied. She thought Adorabella's thoughtfulness was sweet.
(Time lapse)
Rainbow Dash hangs around for a bit to make sure Adorabella is okay first. In that time, the boss came, who was an old stallion, a wrinkly dark sand-coloured earth pony with silver irises, as well as a short frail white mane and tail. Derpy convinced the boss to give Adorabella a job while Rainbow Dash watched over that everything was going smoothly. The boss mailpony gave Adorabella a backpack full of letters, a map and a camera attached to a strap.
(End of time-lapse)
"If you deliver all those letters in a reasonable amount of time, you'll get the job," The boss mailpony said as he opens the door into the post office and walks inside, then closes it.
"Well I'll be right back," Adorabella said as she flaps her wings and quickly takes to the air. She moves her forehooves and rear hooves far out as possible. Adorabella focuses on her inner self, and starts accelerating dramatically. Then, different shades of pink starts pulsing from the front of Adorabella's forehooves which go down the sides of her. Sparks also start appearing at the side of her. Then, a loud boom is created as she increases dramatically in speed and creates a ring-shaped burst that has multiple shades and different types of pink. She starts leaving a trail of different shades of pink behind her.
"She's fast," Said Derpy.
"Yeah," Rainbow Dash chuckled.
A dozen letter deliveries laters...
Adorabella has already delivered 10 letters in just under 2 minutes. Adorabella has just 2 more letters to deliver. Adorabella is looking at the address on the second to last next letter to deliver. Looking at the address, she sees 'Rarity' and 'boutique' on the letter. Adorabella knows where the boutique is.
Adorabella can see the boutique below, and slows herself down. The boutique looks more like a carousel. It is a largely cylindrical building shape with decorative pillars and pony sculptures lining the lower and upper exterior. Adorabella hovers in front of the purple door with a diamond on the top and bottom. In both sides is an oval-shaped window with white edges. She holds the letter in her right forehoof and the camera in her left, and takes a picture like, to show that she delivered the letter, which she has done at the other locations. Now letting the camera dangle from the strap on her neck, Adorabella lands and knocks on the door with her left forehoof, as there's no letter plate on the door to slide the letter through. The door then opens, and Rarity is present.
"Oh- Adorabella darling, it is a pleasant surprise to see you," Rarity lightly smiled.
"Yeah um... I may be getting a job, as a mailpony," Adorabella beamed.
"Oh, how wonderful to hear. I wish you the best darling," Rarity smiled.
"I- here's the letter," Adorabella said as she gives out the letter with her right forehoof to Rarity. The unicorn went to use magic to levitate it, but it doesn't work, probably because of the necklace. So, Rarity takes the letter with her left forehoof and steps back. Now being a good distance away, Rarity uses magic to levitate the letter in front of her. The sound of magic makes Adorabella flinch, and she takes a step back, her wings briefly extending out.
"Oh, Adorabella, are you able to say for a tiny bit? I've been waiting for this letter for a few days now and... it's to do with the case against... well, you know who," Rarity asked.
"I'll come back later, I have to get these done in a timely manner as... as part of a test, if you will," Adorabella stated.
"Oh, yes, I understand. Well, it was pleasant to see you darling. I hope you get the job," Rarity nodded as she waves. Adorabella nods and waves back as she flaps her wings and takes off.
Adorabella, now being back in the air, gets out the last letter. She smiles at seeing the name on the letter. 'Ralph'. She looks at the address, and the address shows that he lives in Ponyville's north. Adorabella quickly heads in that direction, excited.
Adorabella believes she has found Ralph's house. It is the right address. The house is a reasonably-sized house with 3 floors. It's made of skin-coloured stone, with wooden frames and a hay-like roof. At the front are 2 windows for each floor, except the bottom floor. There is a window and a brown wooden door with a rectangular-shaped window at the top. She hovers in front of the door, with the letter in her right forehoof and the camera in her left, taking a picture. Once doing all that, she lands down. There is a letter plate on the door, but Adorabella knocks on the door with her left forehoof anyway. The door opens, and there is Ralph. He is pleasantly stunned and steps back, but regains his composure and steps forward again.
"Well it's nice to see you. I was literally about to head out for work," Said Ralph.
"This letter is for you," Adorabella beamed. She feels at ease with Ralph. She feels comfortable around Ralph.
"Why thank you- oh, before you head off, let me fetch you my spare ear defenders," Ralph said as he closes the door. A few moment later, the door opens and Ralph is with black and white ear defenders. Adorabella lightly smiles as she takes them and puts them around her neck.
"Th- thanks Ralph... I have to go now. I'm close to getting a job," Said Adorabella.
"No worries, they're yours now. I would chat more, but I need to head off to work you see. I'll see you soon," Ralph nodded as he steps outside, closing the door as he did and locks it. Then he flaps his wings and takes off. Adorabella smiles at Ralph, who smiles back. Adorabella flaps her wings and heads back to the post office.
(Outside the post office)
It's only been 5 minutes. Rainbow Dash can now see the cloaked pegasus that is leaving behind a pink trail. Adorabella dives down, then halts as she gets close to the ground. Then, she slowly hovers down.
"Yeah you definitely have the job," Rainbow Dash chuckled. Adorabella came back really quick.
"All the letters have been delivered," Adorabella nodded. The 2 hear the door opening and the boss walks out.
"Back so soon? Let me have a look at the camera roll," The boss ordered. Adorabella takes the camera strap off and gives it to him. He inspects the camera roll and the shock on his face becomes more noticeable.
"Yeah you're definitely coming back. Good work. You'll start tomorrow, from nine in the morning and finish at five in the afternoon, on week days. If you're not going to be in on work days, let me know in advance. Other than that... I'll see you tomorrow Adorabella," The boss nodded. He then walks back into the post office, closing the door behind him.
"I did it!" Adorabella joyfully screamed, hugging Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash smiles, she is impressed with her friend.
"Awesome! Now we do have a lot of time on our hooves. Wanna go for a... really fast fly? I always wanted somepony I could fly with that could keep up with me," Rainbow Dash grinned.
"I would... but I need to go to Rarity. One of the letters I delivered was to Rarity, and it's about the trial regarding... you know who," Adorabella shuddered as she thought about 2 ponies in particular. Rainbow Dash nods, catching the drift.
(At the boutique)
"Hey I'm going to see Apple and Scoots," Said Sweetie Belle.
"Okay darling, but can you write a witness statement about um... when those two stallions stalked you? They broke the restraining order and we're taking this to court. I got a letter not too long ago and it says the trial is in six. They could get locked up for a long time for that," Rarity requested.
"Ugh," Sweetie Belle moaned. She didn't really want to think about the day. She is still unsettled by the encounter.
There is knocking on the door.
"It's open!" Rarity said aloud. The door opens. Rainbow Dash and Adorabella walks in. Adorabella pulls down the hood.
"Ah, good to see you're back Adorabella- and hello Rainbow Dash," Rarity nodded. She looks at Adorabella.
"Did you get the job?"
Adorabella nods.
"Aw, congrats darling," Rarity smiled.
"Now, on the letter, it says the trial against Rock and Catch is in six days. Adorabella and Sweetie, both of you need to write a witness statement if you don't want to attend the trial," Rarity explained.
"Wait uh... what happened to Adorabella?" Sweetie Belle inquired.
"A few days ago now- they almost forced me to do something... luckily Rainbow saved me," Adorabella shuddered.
"Yeah, and I gave those two a good beating!" Rainbow Dash gleefully grinned.
"This whole situation is how we came to know Adorabella, darling. I wish I first met her under... different circumstances," Rarity said to Sweetie Belle.
"Maybe... maybe me and Sweetie Belle can write our statements together. I don't mind helping her," Adorabella offered.
"That is very sweet of you darling," Rarity nodded, smiling.
"Sweetie Belle, can you take Adorabella upstairs to write your witness statements together?" Rarity requested. Sweetie Belle nods and leads Adorabella upstairs.
"Why would Sweetie Belle need to write a witness statement if the stalking thing was months ago? It wouldn't be relevant to the case would it?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Well... I still need to tell the other girls about this, I just didn't have the chance. On the day before Rock and Catch were detained... I caught them trying to stalk Sweetie again. Luckily I chased them off and contacted the sheriff immediately, and as the two were still in Ponyville, the police found them very quickly. Me and you are going to be crucial to the trial if we're going to get those two locked up," Rarity explained.
"How is Sweetie Belle managing with all this?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"She is okay mostly. A bit shaken of course, but she seems okay," Rarity replied.
"Well that's good," Rainbow Dash nodded.
"Let's change the topic. I'm really pleased to hear Adorabella has secured a job," Rarity smiled.
"Yeah, I am really pleased as well. She'll be zooming around delivering those letters," Rainbow Dash lightly chuckled.
"Oh absolutely, I saw how fast she was when we were in Fillydelphia. Adorabella is really fast," Said Rarity, nodding in agreement.
"She's going to be starting tomorrow," Said Rainbow Dash.
"How lovely, I wish the gorgeous pony the best," Said Rarity.
"I hope for the best too. I'm just... so happy she's doing great, compared to when I first met her," Rainbow Dash nodded, wiping her eyes.
"Are you crying?" Rarity asked.
"No... just something got in my eye..." Rainbow Dash shook her head. Rarity takes her word for it.
"Done! Can I go and meet up with Apple and Scoots now?" Sweetie Belle moaned as she trots back downstairs, levitating her witness statement as well as Adorabella's over to Rarity. Adorabella soon comes back down as well.
"Thank you, and yes you can go," Rarity nodded to Sweetie Belle, who pulls the door open with her magic and trots out, forgetting to close it.
"Will both of you be okay?" Rarity asked. Rainbow Dash and Adorabella nods.
"I hope to see either of you soon," Rarity said her byes.
"Cya," Rainbow Dash nodded as she flaps her wings. Adorabella waves before flapping her wings. The 2 hover out, and Adorabella closes the door. The 2 then start flying high up, and they start flying vertically once they got above the clouds.
"Congrats by the way," Rainbow Dash smiled.
"Thanks," Adorabella smiled back.
"So, do you wanna go for a fly... like, a really fast fly? Before we had back to have lunch?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Sure," Adorabella nodded, pulling down her hood. Rainbow Dash can see Adorabella's grin.
"Alright," Rainbow Dash grinned back. Both pegasus extends their hooves out as both begin to accelerate.
Rainbow-coloured pulses appear in front of Rainbow Dash's forehooves and her sides while pink pulses appear of Adorabella's and at her sides. Sparks also start appearing at the sides of both pegasuses. Then 2 loud booms are created as both increases dramatically in speed. Behind Rainbow Dash she creates a ring-shaped burst that's rainbow-coloured and starts leaving a rainbow trail behind her, while behind Adorabella she creates a ring-shaped burst that has multiple shades of pink and different types of pink and starts leaving a trail of different shades of pink behind them.
"Yeah this is awesome!" Rainbow Dash cheerily yelled aloud.
For an half an hour, the 2 pegasuses fly all over Equestria a few dozen times. They can because they have the ability to. They aren't limited like the ones who aren't as fast as they are. Rainbow Dash's and Adorabella speed gives them both more freedom when compared to slower pegasuses.
(An hour later)
"When is your birthday?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Um, in exactly three weeks from now," Adorabella replied.
"Alright," Rainbow Dash nodded. She starts to slow down, which Adorabella notices. So, she slows down too.
"How fast can you go exactly?" Rainbow Dash wondered. She knew Adorabella is faster, but not to what degree.
"When we were doing the laps on the Wonderbolt open day when we were racing... when I was leaving you well behind in the race... that's what I can do if I tried," Adorabella slowly stated.
"Ah I see, awesome. Can I hold onto you just so I can see for myself how fast you can go?" Rainbow Dash requested.
"Rainbow, I can't lift open chest lids, let alone being able to hold onto a full-grown pony," Adorabella chuckled.
"Can we try?" Rainbow Dash insisted.
"Alright," Adorabella eventually agreed. Rainbow Dash gets above Adorabella and holds herself with both forehooves around Adorabella's neck. Adorabella's speed instantanly plummets. Adorabella tries flapping her wings to get back up to the speed she was originally going at, but fails to. Rainbow Dash let's go and sighs in disappointment.
"Sorry... I just wanted to ride to see how it felt going as fast as you," Rainbow Dash apologized.
"It's okay, I understand," Adorabella nodded.
"Let's just head back to my place and have lunch shall we?" Rainbow Dash suggested. Adorabella nodded. Both pegasuses then start to making their way back to the cloudominium.
Note:
There's going to be some time-skips for the next few chapters. Also, I should point out (as I haven't already pointed out at the beginning when I should have lol), this story takes place between season 8 and 9. I thought I should point that out as I didn't at the beginning lol, oops :P
Sorry for the shorter chapter. But the chapters are going to slowly get bigger :)
