Bruce's call with Commissioner Gordon was enlightening, to say the least. Mainly because he hadn't been contacted by anyone else at his company about the theft and fire that had taken place a few hours prior. Gordon had let him know that some things had been taken.

A few small pieces of technology that had been unfinished, experimental, and in the phase of testing. The pieces hadn't been approved for anything beyond that just yet. So, he hadn't a clue about why they had been stolen. All he knew was the potential that they held to be used for both weapons and green energy.

The fire that he'd been informed of, was believed to have been set to cover the thief's tracks.

Thankfully no one had gotten hurt during the incident, so he didn't have to worry about anyone being in the hospital. Or needing to tell Alfred that he would be attending any funerals.

Still...he would be lying if he said that he wasn't furious by the time the call ended. Either way, he would be launching an investigation of his own. Both as Bruce Wayne, and as Batman.

But before he did that, he needed to go and check on the newest resident of his home and let Alfred and the boys know that he was going to be going out for a while.

Ichigo was staring into the most incredible walk-in closet that she had ever seen before and idly wondering if perhaps there was a blackhole of some kind located within its darkened depths.

On one hand, she knew that she was being utterly ridiculous.

But on the other hand...she'd certainly seen stranger things. So, the existence of a blackhole in a closet wasn't the worst thing that she'd ever encountered before.

Which was why she was torn at the moment about stepping into the closet and also staying out of it.

She was weighing some of the pros and cons, and completely lost in her own little world at the moment. So, she didn't realize when Wayne walked into the room and saw her standing in front of the open closet door, freaking out.

He moved up behind her on nearly silent feet and stopped right behind her before then asking right in her ear. "What are you doing?"

She screamed in fright, obviously not expecting anyone to suddenly appear and say something to her while she'd been thinking so hard. And her fright caused her to react further by flinging herself into the side of the nearby dresser so hard that it scooted across the floor a few inches where she came to an abrupt stop and stared at him wide eyed with her heart pounding frantically in her chest.

To the man's credit, he had expected her to be startled by his sudden appearance. So, he wasn't terribly surprised by her reaction. Yet at the same time, he was very concerned by it as well.

Screaming was one thing and perfectly natural and normal.

But flinging herself into a piece of heavy wood furniture with so much force that it could break her bones was another entirely since it wasn't natural or normal in the least.

Finally shaking herself out of her funk, she scowled at him and snapped. "Don't do that to me! I feel like I'm having a heart attack!"

He held his hands up in a placating gesture. "Sorry. I didn't think you'd be so freaked out by my appearance." He paused for a second and then asked, "Are you alright? You hit the dresser pretty hard."

"I-I'm fine. I mean, I'm pretty sure that you scared about ten years off of my life, but aside from that, I'm good." She said in a gentler tone.

Automatically reaching his hand out to help her up, he noted that she only hesitated for a second before quickly grasping it and letting him help her to her feet. Once she was standing again, he asked. "What was it that was so engaging about the closet that you didn't even hear me sneaking up on you anyway?"

She blinked at the question and blushed so vividly that he could even see her blush reach the delicate shells of her ears as they peeked through her hair.

Tilting his head, he stared at her in utter fascination. Idly wondering what it was about the walk-in closet that would make her blush so hard. He was tempted to tease her mercilessly about her blushing so much. But simply found himself content to wait for her to spit out whatever it was that was on her mind.

Finally, she stammered out, "I-It's...just really, really big."

She then turned her head so that she was looking elsewhere and cleared her throat. After all, how was she supposed to tell him that the damned closet freaked her out? That would just be embarrassing.

Especially since she didn't usually 'freak out' like this over ordinary or mundane things. So, maybe her initial thought about it being a blackhole inside of it, wasn't too far off the mark?

"That it is," He said in agreement with her sentiment. "If I recall correctly, then the closet in this room is much larger than any of the others in the entire mansion."

She pasted on a fake smile despite the fact that she felt like blurting out something about it being a portal to the universe or something else just as silly. Either way, she would be investigating a bit more in depth later on, once she was sure that she would be left alone and unbothered.

She was so lost in her thoughts that she hadn't heard him speak again. At least not until he reached out and waved a hand in front of her face to get her attention.

"Princess?"

She started a little and replied, "Huh? Yeah. What is it?"

He looked at her oddly for a moment. "Are you okay? You seem weirdly out of it."

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to check out on you again," She said honestly as she moved around him somewhat to toe the closet door closed so that she wouldn't continue to lose focus while talking to him. "I was just thinking about some things, and I keep getting distracted."

"Ah. I see. It must really be something to occupy your mind so much."

She gave him a strained smile but didn't give him any details before then deciding to deflect his attention from her by asking him. "How was your phone call with Commissioner Gordon? Is everything okay?"

He looked slightly surprised by her question but still replied. "Actually no. There was an incident at my company and because of that, I'll be stepping out for a while this evening."

Her eyes widened a bit as she blurted out, "Was anyone hurt?"

"Thankfully, no. But a prototype device that could be used for the creation of weapons was taken. So, I'll need to go and figure out exactly what it can be used for." He said, refusing to voice the, And find out who took it, to her aloud since she was obviously a worrier, and he didn't want her worrying about him all night.

"I see... I take it that you'll be going in a certain caped suit?"

He frowned at her for a second. "Not just yet. First I have to do some information gathering as myself."

She nodded her head in understanding and then stepped forward to wrap her arms around his torso and give him a quick hug. To say that she had floored him with the action would be an understatement. Yet as unexpected and shocking as it was to get a hug from her, he was also secretly pleased by it.

After all, his Mistress was a prickly little thing. Both incredibly stubborn and full of nothing but attitude and sass.

She released him and stepped back before he had any chance to react and patted his chest, right over his heart, gently with one hand as she told him, "Don't worry about me so much, Bats. I'm a grown woman. I can entertain myself while you're gone."

He smiled at her and nodded, "Alright. I'll go and inform Alfred and the boys, then I'm off."

"Okay! Be safe." She said with a small wave as he turned and walked away.

She cocked her head and listened for his footfalls to become distant before turning on her heel and marching over to the closet and throwing the door open and then announcing, "Alright, whatever you are- I'm burning some sage! And if that doesn't get rid of you then you don't want to know what will happen next!"
