When Hazel 'awoke' she was in her hospital bed. She looked around her. It was definitely the hospital bed, but it was not the hospital room. The chairs next to her bed were gone, the annoying buzzing machines surrounding her bed were gone, everything was gone.

The room was filled with an eerie white glow, which made Hazel feel uncomfortable. She slowly slid out of the bed. That was when she realised she felt different. She felt peaceful… For the first time in, well, ever.

She ran her fingers under her nose, where her Cannula once was. I'm actually dead. She thought to herself. She walked out the door of her 'death room', and was confused by what she saw. Nothing, literally nothing. It was white, and really, really bright. She didn't like this at all, though she had a calming feeling rush over her.

She continued walking in a straight line; it was like she knew exactly where she was going. She couldn't help but notice how great it felt to be able to breathe without her stupid lungs pestering her. She slowly began to jog, and then changed into a full run.

She began laughing to herself, she had missed this, not that she completely remembered what it felt like to run, but she missed it. She felt free. She stopped running when she saw something in the distance, which looked like a street.

She began running again, until her foot hit the pavement. When she looked back, she did not see the whiteness she was surrounded in earlier, she saw a dead end of a street. She sighed heavily and continued walking.

The street was lined with houses; they all looked like 'rich people houses' but varied in size and shape. Some were glass, some bricks. She contemplated going to a random house, but her feet kept moving towards a specific direction, and even if she wanted to change directions she simply couldn't.

Finally, her feet stopped directing her. In front of a tall building. She cautiously walked into the building and nearly cried out from the sight. There were lots of people crowding the room, rushing to get to places, yet they all looked happ.

'Oh, hello! Hazel Grace Lancaster is it?' Someone from behind asked. Hazel jumped at the sudden high pitched voice. 'Uh, just Hazel, yeah.' She said when she turned around. She was face to face with someone she didn't recognised, which upset her; she thought all her loved ones would welcome her.

'Hazel. My name is Mackenzie, and I'm going to show you to your room.' The girl didn't look much older than Hazel, come to think of it not many people in this room did. Hazel followed her to an elevator. 'So,' began Mackenzie, 'I'm going to take you to your temporary room, when we get in contact of a close family member or close friend we will let you go. Until then…' The elevator stopped, and the doors opened to reveal a large room.

Hazel's mouth opened wide in shock, the room was massive. It had everything Hazel could think of, it even had a cabinet stacked with all sorts of candy and even its own slushy machine, this was definitely heaven.

'I'll leave you to it.' Mackenzie said, and disappeared back into the elevator. Hazel didn't know whether to take advantage of this situation, in the end she didn't care. She had a hard life, she deserved it. She rummaged through the candy, taking a bite of each one she could get her hands on.

She figured she had some spare time on her hands so she sorted the candy into two piles; the ones she didn't like and the ones she did. When she started getting bored she stood up and began looking around the room, really taking everything in.

Hazel felt relieved when she saw a TV on the wall, and the remote on a coffee table before it. She switched the TV on and was excited when she saw there were episodes of ANTM. Eventually, she drifted off to sleep.

Hazel awoke to the sound of a bell ringing; she sat straight up and saw the elevator door was open, Mackenzie standing there. 'We've found someone for you.' She said. Hazel ran to the elevator, excited that she finally didn't have to be alone anymore.

They went down a couple of levels, the elevator doors opened, showing the one person she had wished to see, who she spent all night dreaming about.
'Augustus.' She whispered.

A/N. Excuse this writing it's not 100% but it's currently nearly 6am and I haven't slept and I can't sleep so I figured I'd update. My image of the afterlife may be a lot more different to yours; it's not really exactly what I believe it's just my imagination, and I know it's a weird concept but it was literally the only think I could think of on the spot without taking ideas from other fanfics, which I didn't want to do! Thanks for all the reviews and follows and favourites it means a lot! xx
