"Never! Again!" Logan said in frustration, gave his bag a grumpy kick and sat down on his bed.
"Oh, come on. It wasn't that bad," Camille tried to calm her boyfriend and sat down next to him. He looked at her in disbelief. "Have you forgotten about those ninjas who were planning to kill me?!"
"I'm pretty sure they didn't mean to kill you," she pointed out with a slight smile. Logan ignored her. Camille knew he was really angry. She didn't want him to feel this way and was looking for something that might distract him a little. "But at least there was one good thing," she said while leaning against him.
"And what?" he replied snippy. Camille smiled. "You, my great boyfriend, looked really cute in that bear costume."
Logan stared at her, no longer angry, just surprised. "What?"
Camille nodded, running her hands through his hair. "Really, really cute." She felt him relax at her touch.
"Nonsense," he murmured.
"No, really," Camille insisted, pulling his face closer and kissing him lightly. "Sometimes you can be really dramatic, Logie-bear."
Logan sat up in a flash and looked at Camille in horror. "What did you just call me?"
"Come on, Logan. This could be my first real pet name for you."
"No way! Forget it!"
"But it would suit you so well. I wonder why I didn't think of that sooner."
"No!"
"Oh, please, Logie-bear. Pretty please."
"Stop calling me that!"
"I wish I could, Logie-bear. But now it's in my head and it won't get out."
Logan bit his lower lip, thought for a moment. Then he turned to her, and the slightly mischievous look on his face told Camille that she was about to be in trouble.
"Fine," Logan said in a businesslike tone. "If you don't want to stop, I'll make you stop."
And before Camille even had a chance to escape, Logan started tickling her. But because he was a considerate boyfriend and had a good heart, he stopped after less than a minute and looked down at her with raised eyebrows. "Well, have you changed your mind?"
"I don't think I can, Logie-bear," Camille replied with a smirk. Logan exhaled deeply and lay down on his back. "Fine," he finally admitted defeat. "But make sure that none of our friends will ever find out about it."
"Deal," Camille said happily, kissing his cheek. Logan tilted his head towards her, propping himself up on one elbow. "I know what you just did . . . Thanks."
"You're very welcome," she said softly, leaning against his legs. "I just hate seeing you upset."
For a while they both hung on to their own thoughts, then Camille said, "You know, when I said we should do this again, I meant it. We really should go camping together again, but in the right way. That would be so romantic."
"Yeah?"
"Think about it. We would cuddling by the bonfire, stargazing together, and later we'd share a tent. That would be great, wouldn't it?"
"If you say so," Logan replied with a smile and pulled her onto his lap.
"Please promise me we'll do this."
"Sure," Logan said, kissing the top of her head. Camille wasn't quite satisfied with this answer. "I hope you are serious about this, mister. Otherwise I'll go straight to the boys and tell them all about your new secret pet name."
"Camille . . ." Logan began in a warning voice. But Camille just laughed and gave him a kiss.
