"...Do you know when I realised that I was in love with you, My Lady?" Adrien began, his face hidden by his unruly, messy fringe as he looked up into the grey, dreary sky. His arms and shoulders trembled but they didn't dare to budge his precious cargo from its position upon them. "It was on that day, when we defeated Coeur de Pierre...and when Gabriel tried to turn the world against you...you fought him back with your words and might alone,"

His dimmed emerald greens then began to colour anew as he faced his love's lifeless frame. One of his fingers stroked her ice-cold, pale face, trailing from her jaw to her dull lips. Whether it was his tears that dropped on her face first or the rain that began to pour, he didn't know.

"You were so strong, so brave, so determined. Despite your self-doubts and lack of confidence at the start. You still decided to take on the mantle of Ladybug." He pressed a searing kiss on her forehead, lips still pursed on her skin as he continued to talk. "And then, as if that wasn't enough...we met again and I gave you Maman's umbrella,"

He entwined their fingers together, both Tikki and Plagg resting beside her and watching with their small, tearful faces.

"You stole my heart again right there and then. It was a perfect coup de foudre! The fact that you decided to give me another chance, the fact that you were one of the first few people in my life to genuinely hear me out...how could I have not fallen for you again?" His nose was grazing hers, his lips wobbling and losing their strength to keep talking.

"I fell in love with you again and again and again. Every day when I woke up, my first thoughts were always of you. Every time I saw you do something, say something or even just stand there, I fell in love. So please...please, Marinette..."

His lips brushed hers.

"Come back to me...

And he kissed her.

Suddenly, a bright light enveloped Marinette's barren body, making Adrien pull away from her lips with shock and the kwamis fly up in surprise. The blinding light then turned into a soft, humming glow, the girl's body now floating a few feet up the air from Adrien's arms magically.

Bright red and pink specks flew around her body like glitter, like little ladybirds hovering around her.

'The cleansing light!' Adrien noted with bafflement, unadulterated hope blooming within his chest and the boy was unable to do anything else but watch the light that surrounded the love of his life with a gape.

Just as the spectacle came, it disappeared in an instant. The boy was quick to catch his partner's body as she floated back to him, colour now blossoming back in her faded complexion and...

Her chest moved up and down.

He didn't breathe until she opened her eyes, revealing the baby blue eyes that he fell in love with since day one.

Tears cascaded down his face and he couldn't help but give her a watery grin.

"Welcome back, My Lady,"
