Gotham City; July 9th, 2010; 11:15PM.
Korra used her airbending and enhanced agility to sneak out of Artemis' room, leaping off the rooftop with a gust of wind propelling her feet off the ground with only barely a running start. Landing on the building opposite with a roll, she huffed a breath of hot air into the brisk night sky. It wasn't nearly as cold as the North Pole though; she could tell her body had been trained to withstand much harsher temperatures. Korra began to think back to her plan here, while Artemis was unconscious and recovering from her overdose, the Avatar did some digging and found out that the men who were trafficking women were still up to their old plans. They hadn't even slowed down the production of this horrific enslavement operation, with Artemis out of commission, Korra was left with more time than she cared to admit on her hands; taking care of the archer wasn't all that hard seeing how she mostly slept for hours on end the entire day.
Korra pulled on the end of her turtle-neck grey long-sleeved blouse, fixing her blue jeans with a few pats of her lap, her sprint forwards ended with an earthbender's stomp on the roof. Embedding her boot mark in solid concrete before launching herself up thirty feet with another gust of pressurized wind channeled from her legs. While in mid-air, Korra pushed herself further by igniting flames from the bottom of her heels briefly for extra propulsion during the jump. She only slowed down after about ten minutes of leaping from one building to the next, once she had the downtown marina in sights… she landed only three ports and a few blocks from where she had freed the last shipment of women just yesterday. She was so disappointed in the state of this world, their attack on last night's shipment didn't even slow them down.
"This is ridiculous," Korra used her airbending to slow her descent and land gently by the rooftop of the admission building, leaning against a large billboard sign overlooking the dock. Glaring out at the six or so men in black suits armed with rifles and wearing ski masks; they led captive women, all blindfolded and shackled together, in a line making their way toward the boats docking bridge. The Avatar couldn't help but scowl at the sight of this.
Pulling her turtleneck collar over her nose and mouth, she huffed through the cotton fabric before jumping through the air thirty feet over their sight line, front flipping over them. She landed between the line of women and the boat that would take them away from civilization for the rest of their lives, never to see their homes again. Korra's airbending allowed her to land on her feet without a sound, gracefully and immediately spin kicking the air which sent a powerful stream of wind aimed specifically for the man in the back who tried to aim his gun at her first. As he was sent tumbling across the concrete twenty feet away, flipping through the air uncontrollably and landing on his back. The other three men that were escorting the girls with him didn't hesitate to pull out and press down on the triggers of their automatic rifles as soon as they caught sight of her.
As Korra thrusted her palms outward, stopping the hail of lead bullets in their tracks with her metalbending prowess, her lips curved into a smile wondering how anyone could think these unpredictable and comprisable weapons were at all more efficient than hand to hand combat. Once they had emptied their magazines on the air in front of her, she quickly released the tension in her fingers letting the bullets drop in front of her effortlessly. Proceeding to jump a foot into the air, landing with a stomp where her right foot forced a large blunt shard of stone to pultrude from the ground at high speeds, with a single shadow boxing jab in front of her, the stone became a projectile as though it were telekinetically launched through the air. Striking the man in the middle and knocking him out instantly with a blow to the chest. As he collapsed the last two scattered, tossing their guns and sprinting off in opposite directions, "Oh, no you don't," the scared and likely drugged women were gasping and whispering to each other as they cried and crouched to avoid gunfire they couldn't see. Korra used her metalbending to reach out, gripping the fragments of earth within their chains and shackles, she quickly pulled them apart without ever touching them, breaking the locks, and pulling it all into a single chain.
Freeing the women and arming Korra simultaneously, holding one end of the chain in one hand and swinging it ominously in the other; she used her martial skills and metalbending to perfectly launch the chains out tightly wrapping around one of the men's ankles. Korra yanked him off his feet with her incredible strength, swinging him overhead and allowing gravity to bring him down, hitting the ground face first breaking his nose. Her eyes flashed with white light encompassing the entire sclera of her eyes with a divine energy and a high-pitched frequency vibrating through the air. Her strength increased ten-fold and she effortlessly swung the two-hundred-pound man around a hundred-eighty degrees hitting the other escaping assailant hard enough to knock them both into an unconscious heap. They toppled on top of each other, groaning just loud enough that it barely let her know that they were alive.
Korra took a deep breath, closing her eyes and exhaling as the Avatar State faded away, allowing her natural crystal-clear blue eyes to shine through glistening off the moon light. She rushed over to the group of women being escorted blindfolded in the dark while chained together, Korra made sure to remove their face coverings and help the women to the streets where they could flag down a police officer. She watched them and ensured that they made it to safety before she leaped back into the air, first landing on the roof of the admission building she arrived at, planning to continue onward and back to Artemis' apartment. However, she felt an odd sensation, as if someone were watching her… Korra turned around peering into the darkness of the rooftop.
"Hello?" She announced herself into the shadows at someone she felt must be there, it began to rain droplets of icy water from above as the ever-present dark clouds loomed above the city sky. Thunder shook the sky as she formed an orb of bright orange flames to shine light on the rooftop around her, "I'm warning you pal, sneaking up on me is a bad idea!"
It was only a few seconds before lightning flashed in the sky above, cascading a shadow of the figure behind her over the ground at her feet. What seemed to be the silhouette of a man in familiar black armor with pointed ears, this startled her as she quickly stepped back into a graceful yet firm stance, one fist out holding the blaze out in front of her with her free hand flattened into a chopping gesture, ready to launch the flames barreling outward. Korra only stopped herself when she caught sight of the man standing in the rain with her only fifteen or so feet away, "I remember you, you helped me get my memories back, you're the bat-guy," slowly lowering her attacking stance, she kept her eyes on him as he responded.
His voice was obviously modulated by some sort of device like the last time, responding in a deeply intimidating tone, "Batman, actually, you did efficient work here tonight." The man looked away, focusing the scanners on his suit down at the group of women talking to multiple police officers who took their statements about the incident. Korra was going to thank him when he interrupted her thought process by continuing, "Maybe a little too good, I've picked up chatter from connections of mine that the people you're messing with have noticed you, and they don't plan to stop with just one assassin to safeguard their interests," he spoke with incredible conviction and determination, he had definitely been doing this for some time now, years most likely, so she didn't take his warning lightly.
"Thanks, uh, Batman?" Korra responded almost asking if she could use that as his name at all, but shaking it off quickly enough, "But, I think I can handle myself," she was the Avatar after all, there was cause for her to be at least a little arrogant, as she'd always been.
Korra lowered her hands and dispersed the flame that was beginning to smother under the rain that began to pour around them, "I don't doubt you can, I've seen you fight, but these people don't just stop at attacking you. How long before your archer friend gets caught up in this? How long will Paula last with you taking down dangerous, powerful men looking for you?" Batman shook his head, trying to find the right words to explain this to her, "Sometimes the best way to fight the good fight, is to take a step back and breathe. Assess the problem, find the source, and take it down… fighting the symptoms won't cure the disease," his voice held a ton of seniority and wisdom but, authority as well.
"But, how do I-" Korra turned around for only a second, as she returned her vision to him, he was gone and no where she could see, "What is that guy, stalking me?" the downpour showered her and drenched her hair, maybe he was right though, there was nothing wrong with taking a break. Sometimes she forgot that this world has dozens of heroes of its own, all with different powers and agencies, she wasn't looked at to solve all the worlds problems anymore. Perhaps it was time she explored that just a bit.

Ra's Al Ghul was a very spiritual man, having taken journeys to the higher plain of the spirits on many occasions; having died and been resurrected nearly half a dozen times, he was nearly two hundred and twenty years old and still felt like an average middle-aged man. He had collected many artifacts to enthrall his students into the perfect cults of soldiers and assassins, but recently he found his most prolific female student broke free of his spell.
Ra's approached Jade Nguyen, she stared blankly into the distance while sitting in a ready position at his side, he grabbed her chin and tried to catch her attention, but it was truly no use. He waved a hand in front of her eyes but, they never broke focus on her thousand-yard stare, "The Brain usually exaggerates the success of his works but, the program he put you through is by far the most advanced I have ever seen, even in all my days," he looked into her eyes and saw the emptiness that forced everything into a blurry haze from her perspective. Weak and pliable, she sat docile at his feet as he let go of her jaw, he was lucky that the mad scientists hypnotic programming stood the test of time and stress, "Prep her for the ceremony, it's time for the next vessel of darkness to become one with Vatuu the Maleficent," several men in burgundy robes came into the temple, escorting her out as she obediently stood and followed command, undressing as they instructed. "Soon I will have the ultimate weapon at my side, and then I will be able to initiate phase two," his sinister grin was almost tangible in the air around them as he watched her strip.

Gotham City; July 10th, 2010; 10:45AM.
"177… 178… 179…" Artemis pulled her head out from under the covers at the sound of counting coming from a familiarly soothing voice; her brain felt like it had been through a blender, still recovering from nearly overdosing only forty-eight hours ago, she heard mumbling from the entrance to her room where Korra hung off the pull up bar by her legs. Peaking her doughy brown eyes out, she stared intently as one of her long blonde bangs slid in front of her vision prompting her to reach up and comb it out of the way for a better view. The tanned and toned Avatar was in nothing but her light blue baggy sweats that she arrived in and a grey sports bra that Artemis had bought her. Her muscles were slicked with sweat which, for some reason, reminded the blonde archer how dry her mouth currently was, forcing her to lick her lips. Korra was faced the opposite direction doing upside down sit ups, so Artemis was left to stare at her back muscles as they tensed and tightened, "198… 199… and 200," she exhaled before flipping back to her feet gently with a fist planted on the wood, "Phew," she wiped the sweat from her brow as Artemis closed her eyes and pretended to be asleep again.
She noticed Korra drop her weight onto her bunk next to her, slowly she felt the Avatar staring at her, not that she could see her with her eyes closed but, she could feel the eyes on her otherwise sleeping form. Korra watched her as her deep breaths allowed her chest to slowly rise and fall in a rhythmic motion, she realized that Artemis had spent pretty much the entirety of the last two days sick in bed, and it made her feel awful that there was little she could do to help with the withdrawal period. Korra fell curious and reached her hand out slowly, finding her fingers drawn to her creamy complexion, gliding her index over Artemis' brow, and slowly tracing gentle lines over her cheek. "Mmm…" the archer finally hummed with a smile and a slight heated color rising to her cheeks where Korra caressed with her thumb.
Even though she hadn't opened her eyes yet, Korra took this as a good sign, giggling ever so slightly, "Feeling any better this morning?" she asked kindly as her eyes fluttered open finally.
"I don't feel like jumping out a window this morning so, that's progress," Artemis shifted her weight prompting Korra to pull her hand away, allowing the blonde to slither through the comforter, keeping her warm as she popped her head out and laid on her lap. Even though she had just been working out, the aroma she found when she dug her head into Korra's abdomen was intoxicatingly sweet. "As long as you're here to comfort me, I don't mind being out of commission for a bit," the Avatar giggled as she felt her firm but dainty arms wrapping around her abdomen.
Korra let her hand fall down to Artemis' head of thick blonde hair which spilled out over her lap, combing through it with her fingers, "Well, I wouldn't want you to stay out of commission for too long, we still have that date," finishing her sentence with seductive over tones, the blonde's eyes snapped open again, sending her upright in bed quickly.
"Actually, I'm starting to feel much better," Artemis chuckled with her cheeks still growing crimson at the thought of having an entire evening, out with Korra, an older woman, in fancy dresses, at a fancy restaurant; it was a magical scene in her head.
Even though she was still a tad nauseous, Artemis forced herself to stand but, slowly saw stars in her vision clearly having done it too quick; Korra caught her by the shoulders keeping her upright and balanced. Rubbing her own brow, Artemis tried to shake the disorientation away, prompting Korra to guide her back to a seat on the bed, "Here, wait a sec, you shouldn't push yourself in this condition," approaching the bathroom, Artemis held her head in discomfort as she rummaged through the medicine cabinet.
"Sorry, I'm just not used to being so helpless, especially in my everyday life… this blows…" Korra listened to her groan as she took an empty cup and dropped two tablets into it, gesturing at the faucet, she pulled and bent about six ounces of water out and into the cup without even turning the knob. She opened the door and stepped out into the bedroom as the tablets began to oxidize bubbling up at the bottom of the glass.
"Here," The Avatar said sitting down next to Artemis who had her head hung and her face planted firmly in her palms, this prompted Korra to brush the strains of golden locks that hung over the side of her face back behind her ear, giving her goosebumps that trailed down her neck, "C'mon, this'll settle your stomach, then we can do a healing session before lunch…" Artemis poked her eyes out from beneath her hands, glaring at the cup of bubbling water.
"Fine," Artemis muttered, taking the glass, and slowly gulping down the entire glass, wiping her lips clear after gasping in satisfaction. "But, only because healing sessions usually leads to us making out," she said with an exhale.
Korra's cheeks began to burn as well, smiling as she sent a quick and short pulse of air into Artemis' face, blowing back her hair a bit, "Maybe this time you can sit in the tub with your clothes on then!" she joked.
Artemis chuckled and started to fix her hair as she closed her eyes, combing it back so that she could eventually tie it into a ponytail but, before she could, "Hey, as long as your clothes are off, I don't mind either way," she never got the chance to use the hair tie around her wrist as Korra tackled her playfully back onto the bed.
Grabbing Artemis by her wrists finally, the two couldn't fight their fits of laughter, even as they attempted to talk through it, "Stahp it!" she shouted as Korra straddled her and pinned her down on the mattress.
"What? Don't have something smart to say now, huh?" Korra giggled out as Artemis struggled under her weight, fidgeting but, only realizing she was practically grinding her hips against Korra's…
It wasn't until the Avatar opened her eyes again did she noticed the now flustered archer, only she was flustered in a totally different way, her cheeks red not out of embarrassment at all, "I, uhm, I'll just-" before she could retreat off of her, Artemis embraced being pinned, only using her now free hands to grab Korra's face, pulling her down onto the bed beside her where their lips could brush against one another's. "Or this, I'll just do this," she whispered as her hands once again combed through the blonde's long mane of silky-smooth hair, Artemis introduced her tongue for the briefest second which reminded the Avatar of where she was.
Pulling back, Korra put a hand on Artemis' chest just above her bosom, separating their lips spite enjoying the taste of the tongue that had begged for entrance, "W-What if your Mom walks in?"
"I wouldn't know what to tell her, besides, she's clueless and wants me to marry some dude and have grandchildren for her," Artemis looked deeply into Korra's eyes, "I'll tell her when I'm ready, promise."
Korra smiled and pecked Artemis on the lips quickly, "Whatever you say," she said sincerely, it was her choice to reveal her sexuality to her Mother, a choice she herself never got only barely discovering her interest in women before being hurtled by a spiritual weapon into the unknown. "In other news, I made reservations at a nice little caffe downtown for us tonight... if you're feeling up to it?"
"You dialed a cellphone and made reservations, on your own? You sure are getting the hang of things in this world, and do caffe's take reservations?" this prompted a question that had been slightly bugging her since they'd met, "Speaking of which, what was your world like? Did you have superheroes different from ours?"
Korra glanced down at the wooden floors, reminiscing on her adventures through out her life there, "It wasn't much different than it is here… people are divided, they fear what they cant control. While you were passed out I did a little digging on the internet and it looks like all the technology I'm used to is more like a hundred years old in this world, which threw me for a loop."
Artemis suddenly understood her obvious confusion about television and smartphones, "But, no heroes?"
"Just me, the Avatar, protector of the world. I had friends that helped but, it was really just me out there," Korra gave out a long sigh, "I'm the one everyone looked to for protection, and I gave it to them as best I could."
"I'm guessing not in the most graceful style?"
Korra chuckled, "I may have been kicked out of a city or two but, it was my responsibility to save that world whether they were grateful or not."
"Well, we don't do what we do for a thank you, that's for sure," Artemis pointed out.
Korra stood slowly, helping Artemis back out of bed, "C'mon, you need a healing session," giving the archer a devious look flooding her cheeks with heat, "Clothes on this time!" Korra announced in an embarrassed shout.
"Fine…" Artemis pouted her way into the bathroom, pouring herself a hot bath before peeking her head back out into the rest of the room, "Do you have to have your clothes on too?" she said with a coy smile.
Korra scoffed with a sarcastic chuckle, "Get in there, you," the Avatar marched in pushing the blonde by the shoulders in and shut the door behind her.
…
Downtown New York
Korra and Artemis were not ones to dress up for appearances, although they both did their best to look beautifully casual; the Avatar wore her silver-grey blouse and denim jeans combo, the only outfit other than the one she arrived in this world that she owned. Artemis just used a green tank-top and threw her brown crop-top jacket over it also paired with jeans and sneakers much like her date.
The caffe they approached was clearly not nearly as fancy as Korra had led on but it was nuanced and quiet, which was more than they could say for how they spent most of their nights. Hopping rooftops and taking down a human-trafficking ring, along with the occasion thugs attempting to rob a house or person; tonight was all about them, the lights strewn across the outdoor patio area looked almost magical with a soothing jazz tune playing in the background.
"You didn't actually need a reservation for this place, did you?" Artemis spoke up walking beside the bending-broad with her hands innocently behind her back, glancing over for a response.
Korra scoffed in return, "Well, I looked it up on goggles and I thought it looked really nice from the pictures, plus I've never had to make reservations before in my world."
"For the last time it's called Google, and I still find it sweet either way," Artemis giggled a bit, "What made you chose this place specifically? There's a dozen of these all over town," she pointed out.
Korra stopped in front of the shop and saw remnants of her memories, ones she's glad she found, of the quaint tea-shops of Ba-Sing-Sei, letting out a sigh, "You asked me about my world, right? This is what most of the places I went to were like this," she locked arms with Artemis who smiled as she was dragged indoors where the smell of fresh coffee beans mixed with steaming teas filled her senses like a rush of endorphins.
They took a seat at a table for two, small but intimate which is exactly what they were looking for, "So, everything was always this quiet?" the blonde glanced around in disbelief for a second or two.
"Not everything, I once had to drop a building on a giant robot once," Korra nonchalantly dropping that bomb as their server approached to take their orders, "I'll just have a tea, oolong if you have it."
Artemis was blunt and straight forward, "Coffee, black, three shots of espresso, thank you," the server nodded her head and likely memorized the simple order, returning to the back where the employees worked away.
There were maybe three or four other people in the caffe with them not including the employees so, it was as intimate as a first date could get on a seventeen-year-old's dime, "So, other than giant robots, what else did you have in your world that's not around here?"
Korra leaned back in her seat and her eyes went to the ceiling, "Let's see, obviously the technology here is crazy-insane… but I think I liked my world better without all of it, we had spiritual oasis' across the planet that seemed almost… magical," was the only word she could think to describe some of the more serene places in her world, "But, there was always the darkness that always seemed to tip the world's balance."
"Which is why they need the Avatar to save them, right?"
Korra paused and exhaled, "Ya know, I've known my destiny since I was seven and I embraced it with everything that I have, now that I'm here… I can't imagine what I'm supposed to do with my life."
Artemis watched as their drinks were brought to their table one in each hand, kindly thanking the barista, she posed a question to the woman across from her, "Tell me, did you stop gangsters and muggers from hurting people as the Avatar? Was that part of your duties, I mean?" she put emphasis on it to exaggerate how much of a load of crap she believed it to be.
"Well, yea-"
Artemis followed up, "And would you stop world-ending monsters or villains from causing mayhem and hurting people?" her doughy brown eyes met the crystal-blue oceans staring back at her now.
"Several times, actually, that's how I ended up here…"
Artemis reached across the table and placed her hands on Korra's sitting idly on either side of her tea-cup, "Than it sounds to me like being the Avatar in your world, makes you a hero in ours, and trust me there's plenty of space for those around here," as if on cue, the archer's trained hearing noticed screeching tires of an all-black van breaking just outside the shop.
"Artemis I don't know what to-"
The blonde leapt before she thought, shouting while still in the air, "Get down!" the door to the van slid open and three men with AK-47's fired in on the shop, some of the patrons had headed her warning and were ducking out of view, however, several employees were shot lethally as glass shattered around them.
Korra was slightly caught off guard by the sudden attack, her reflexes still not up to par since being shot point blank in the side of the head, regardless her eyes snapped open flashing with the holy white-light of a Goddess. Artemis was still on top of her but, slowly rolled off when she noticed how she'd 'powered up' as the archer would put it. The gun-men advanced in all geared up in tactical wear, kevlar body-armor, assault rifles, and ski-masks, reloading their weapons with fresh magazines. Korra airbent the wooden table they hid under through the room, narrowly missing one of the shooters; standing while Artemis was still crouched behind her, grabbing a butter-knife from the ground which had scattered when then gun-fire started.
They didn't hesitate to once again fire on the single target, unloading their assault rifles on her as if they'd been thoroughly briefed on her abilities and were told not to hold back. Being in the Avatar state, all Korra had to do was plant her feet and thrust one palm outwards stopping each of the bullets in their tracks, mid-air. She waited for them to run out of ammunition before exhaling through her nose and closing her eyes, releasing the tension in her hand subsequently dropped the bullets to the ground at her feet. When she re-opened her eyes, they were back to normal but, her expression was still fierce with rage, channeling that into a step-forward stomping the ground as blunt stone pillar erupted four-feet into the air just under one of the men, hitting him in the chest and sending him out the broken pane window hitting their van with enough force to leave a sizable dent. "You guys are ruining my date!" she spun with her arms out summoning the water from the boiling pots in the kitchen splashing the second man in the practically unguarded face with scolding liquids long enough to throw a round house kick that airbent the man grasping at his ski-mask into the door, breaking it apart as he landed on the sidewalk.
Korra was about to turn and face the final opponent, who had once again taken the spare seconds he had as his team was taken down to reload his assault rifle, Korra wasn't entirely sure if she could stop a bullet fired with her reaction time being so slow but, it turned out she didn't have to. Artemis stood and launched the butter-knife across the room thirty-feet accurately into the shooter's eye, not necessarily killing him but, taking him down for sure as they watched him collapse before he could pull the trigger.
"Are you okay?" Artemis asked instinctually, running across the room and into her arms, letting Korra wrap them around her torso.
The Avatar quickly pulled them apart and looked over Artemis with concern of her own, "What do you mean am I okay?! I'm practically bullet proof and you're not, but you still risked taking one for me, why would you do that?!" she practically shouted, her expression had quickly changed from that fierce rage into monumental confusion.
"Isn't it obvious?" Artemis practically scoffed, "I care about you, I like you… a lot, and if you think I wouldn't risk that for you, then you're as dumb as the rocks you throw," she smiled as Korra brought her hands up to caress her face slowly, police sirens blaring in the distance.
"Thank you," Korra said finally, fighting back the tears in her eyes, "B-But all these people?" she looked around at one or two people still struggling to get to their feet, others not so lucky to still be capable of doing so.
"We should go, you don't have a license or a birth certificate or-or anything, trust me Gotham P.D will find a way to blame you for this," Artemis pulled her by the wrist towards the shattered door, quickly stepping over the unconscious man with the boiled face, Korra quickly took her advise and scooped up the blonde-archer, using her strength and airbending to propel herself directly upwards.
Artemis clung for dear life to the Avatar but, had some-what gotten used to the feeling of weightlessness as they flew directly three-stories up onto the roof of the building before the police cruisers could turn the corner. "It feels wrong leaving, I'm a healer, I can help them…" letting down the archer to approach the ledge and peer downwards.
"Remember what you said about technology here? Well in this world, our medical tech would blow your mind," As Korra stared down at the cops raiding the caffe, confiscating weapons, and covering up bodies, "The ones that can make it, will. The hard part about this job, especially in this city, is that you can't always save everyone…" Artemis placed her hand on Korra's shoulder, pulling her back to avoid being seen, "C'mon, we have to go."
As they turned around to face one another further away from the ledge, Korra grabbed her hand and forced her to stay, "We don't think this is some coincidence, do we? The night we take off from hunting down this trafficking ring is the same night we get tracked and almost assassinated?"
Artemis remembered how the only way she was able to get such a direct shot into the final shooter's eye was because he was entirely focused on the Avatar herself and took advantage of it when she noticed it with the other two assailants, "Definitely not, but, they were targeting you specifically… which means they at least don't know who I am yet."
"I don't think so," Korra let go of Artemis' hand and folded her arms narrowing her eyes, turning back to look out at the police lights flashing against the buildings on the opposing side of the street, "Maybe they just underestimated you because you don't have powers, you said it yourself, you could never do it alone until I came along."
"Huh!" Artemis nearly shouted in frustration, "So, they don't see me as a threat, is that it? I'll show them a threat, tomorrow night we're gonna… gonna…" she trailed off as the adrenaline quickly left her body replaced by shock and excitement at the same time.
Korra turned around, curious as to how she'd finish that sentence, "Gonna what?" she was met with three different figures standing on the rooftop with them that weren't there the last time she was facing that direction, such speed and stealth, it was almost unreal even for herself.
One Korra recognized as the Batman clad in his kevlar body-armor far more practical and advanced than what the thugs below them were garbed in; alongside him was a man in all green, some of it appeared to be kevlar as well only he sported a blonde goatee, a domino face-mask, and a hood wielding a bow in one hand. Finally there was a beautiful, blonde-haired woman, appearing to be at least eight to ten years older than herself, wearing skin-tight black pants, a black long-sleeved blouse, and a navy-blue crop-top jacket over it.
"Y-You're Black Canary… and You're Green Arrow… and Batman…" Artemis was almost at a complete loss for what they might be here on this particular rooftop together for exactly, "What happened down there was-"
"Not our fault! These guys came out of nowhere and started firing their gun-things at us!" Korra lashed out, assuming they were there to place blame, "I- we were just protecting ourselves!"
Canary was the first to come forward, "Woah, we aren't here to arrest you… quite the opposite actually," her voice was soothing, like someone who could understand emotions and compartmentalize for a living.
"Okay, now I'm confused…"
Green Arrow stepped forth beside the Black Canary, these codenames were so odd to the dimensional-foreigner but, it was their world after all. "We've been watching you for some time, it started with just Artemis' acts of bravery but, then it turned into something more."
Batman was the third and final voice to speak up though he didn't step out of the shadows, his cape covering most of his body almost appearing like one of the dark-spirits Korra had fought in her time, "We think, especially after tonight, that it would be safest if you were trained and housed by professionals."
"You're talking about me, aren't you?" Korra questioned.
Arrow shrugged with an unsure expression, "Well, we'd still like to recruit you, both of you but, the training and housing thing was mostly aimed at you, yea…"
"Smooth," Canary jabbed her elbow into the archer's side for being slightly insensitive which seemed to be her department, most obviously.
"I was trained for almost fifteen-years to bend these elements, I'm a master with all of them! I don't need training by any professionals you could possibly have," Korra was offended by their lack of faith but, heard them out anyways.
Canary took over the conversation seeing as her male comrades weren't making any ground, Artemis still stunned to be in front of people she almost never thought she'd meet in person, "We don't think you need to hone your abilities; we think you need to be trained to learn about this world."
"So, dark and scary told you I'm stranded, that's fine… but, I'm not leaving Artemis," Korra defended vehemently, snapping the female-archer out of her stupor.
Batman took a step forwards into the light of the full-moon, "We've already assembled a small team of similarly experienced and aged individuals, some of which are living at a fortified headquarters built for people with abilities like yours, both of yours."
Green Arrow gave a long sigh as both women were still unsure of what the heroes were trying to say, "In brooding bat-speak, that translates to 'we're inviting you onto a team of teenagers like yourselves who want to help the heroes under the radar'," the Batman gave the archer a searing glare for the beginning of that sentence but, allowed it to slide.
Korra stepped forward beside Artemis, unsure of anything, "I'll go along with whatever she decides," the Avatar surprisingly decided quickly, turning to face her date, "In the time since we've met you've been guiding me in all the right directions, even when you didn't mean to… I'll follow your lead on this one."
Artemis had only one thought left on her mind as she held Korra's hands and had her idols waiting only feet away for an answer, "All I have to say is… does my Mom need to sign a waiver or…?"
