Why?

There she sat on the steps leading to her lemon colored house, the chilled breeze sending chills down her spine, reminding her that winter was soon to approach. Although the blonde haired girl… no young woman took no notice, as she was stuck deep in thought. Why? Why wouldn't they tell her, she knew they repeatedly told her that it was for her own safety 'the less you know the better' Ed always insisted. However it wasn't good enough, if it was for her safety shouldn't she know what to expect or if she gets captured what it's about? However one question jammed into her head, did they think she was that weak? Was she THAT weak that they had to keep her away from the information? This alone could bring her to tears, the Elric brothers… no Ed didn't believe that she could defend her self. In other words he thought she was still a child, that little girl they used to play with. With this she tilted her head to the sky in a questioning manner. Almost pleading God to give her the truth, with her icy blue eyes, however as expected she was given nothing but the sky, which was mixing colors creating a memorizing picture. Suddenly a warm, rough hand placed itself gently on her shoulder, of course at first her body tensed in shock but settled within comfort seconds after. He was here, out of all the times he chose to come see her, this is the time he picked and even though it was hard to admit it was the best. Nothing could have fitted better, taking a seat on the step he let out a deep sigh. As if he had been holding it in, not daring to glance at him Winry closed her eyes wishing this moment would never end. As they would soon be gone again, only coming back when a problem occurred in their journey, but her mind was against her wanting to look into his soul burning eyes and beg him to stay. Nether the less she knew the answer, and it wasn't the one she was looking for either. Loosing the battle she took a quick glance only to take a sharp breath in, Ed had been staring at her with a sad look in his eyes as if he wanted to tell her something but was holding back. The emotion she had only seen a few times in his breath taking eyes, pain. Wanting to grab him and hold him in her arms close to her rapidly beating heart. Yet she pushed back the thought and asked the only thing she had been thinking about, 'why?' she said it so clear but was shaking on the inside knowing that he was about to push her away and break her heart. 'Because I-I love you.'
