There was nothing but silence in Zack's car.

No one said a word to each other, let alone looked in one's way.

The tension in the car was palpable as they sat there with their racing thoughts and aching hearts; both afraid of losing something important to them.

Pride and Dignity.

*Earlier*

Lisa had been avoiding Zack the whole day.

Whenever she saw him in the hallway, she would turn the other way. If she saw him in a classroom, she would sit far from him, and if he were with her friends, she would avoid them altogether.

The situation might not have seemed serious to another person, but it was serious to her.

She was so determined to avoid him because truthfully, she didn't want him to see her.

She couldn't bare the thought of him seeing her after what happened yesterday.

Lisa was embarrassed for making a fool of herself with the pity date and letting her vulnerability get the best of her. All she wanted to do was fix them, but she failed at that along with being his girlfriend.

Why was she having a hard time being that for him?

Why did she have to feel so insecure, especially in front of him?

She never ever wanted to show Zack her vulnerability and insecurity; she just wanted to be perfect like all the other girls he went steady with.

Why was she so different from them?

Why did she feel so different from them?

Why did she like Zack in the first place?

It wasn't like she was trying to fall for him, but she did and wished now she never had.

This was the first time Lisa felt insecure about a relationship, and it did more than just scare her; it deeply troubled her.

She glimpsed at her locker mirror and noticed a pitiful girl reflecting on it.

She tried to smile, but the small smile she showed quickly vanished.

Lisa didn't like the look on her face so she closed the locker door and heavily sighed.

Thankfully, she had one more class left until she could leave.

On her way to class, Lisa took the usual route which was passed the stairs and around the corner, but this time, she didn't make it past the corner.

She was so close to the classroom.

So close.

But she was closer to someone else.

Her body was attached to the person as their arms wrapped around her.

Lisa felt paralyzed in the state as her emotions devoured her internally; making her red all over.

After what felt like hours, she finally looked up and their eyes locked.

So many emotions were being exchanged at the moment.

Lisa didn't know what to say except that she was so close to the classroom and so close to finishing the day without interacting with him.

Another thing, she yet again, failed at.

Her tumultuous thoughts returned along with the insecure feelings she expressed yesterday.

Feeling embarrassed and pathetic, Lisa wiggled herself free from his embrace and quickly rushed to the classroom; shutting the door behind her.

Zack felt hurt that she was avoiding him.

He felt like it was all his fault, and that he could've done more to make her feel comfortable, but he never had that issue before.

He never had to get a girl to feel comfortable around him; they usually were, and maybe a little more.

They were always affectionate and loving, but Lisa had been none of that to him recently.

Being repeatedly rejected by his girlfriend was not something he was used to.

Zack pondered on the situation and wondered why he even bothered trying.

He was a guy and a guy with needs and feelings.

He could have any girl he wanted…but all he wanted was Lisa.

She was all he wanted.

Zack couldn't help it.

He could see himself slowly falling in love with her despite everything that happened.

He didn't want to have to give her up again like he did when he fought with Screech.

In his heart, he didn't want to, but at the same time, he didn't fight hard enough for her.

He thought he could save both friendships if he gave up his feelings for Lisa, but she wasn't willing to give them up.

She wanted to be with him even if it meant hurting someone (Screech) in the end.

Zack realized she was the reason they were able to be together.

Why?

Because she fought for him the way he should've for her.

Could that be the reason Lisa felt the way she did now?

Would he be so willing to give up Kelly or any other girl his best friend loved as he did with Lisa?

He immediately felt guilty because he knew the answer to that.

He wondered why Lisa was so different than all the others.

What made Lisa the girl he was willing to sacrifice but keep at the same time?

Zack was so lost in his sadness that he didn't realize he was 15 minutes late for class.

Instead of heading in that direction, he left the building.

Author's Note: It's been a while, but I am not sorry because I made a promise and I'm going to keep it. I promised I would finish this story along with the necklace, but after they are completed, there, unfortunately, will be no more Zisa stories. That said, I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
