The rain felt pleasant as it fell onto my face, it soothed the skin that was still vibrating in response to my recent detention.
I gripped the pillar of the windowless arch I stared out of, Amycus's elated face as he cursed me replaying in my head. I wasn't sure how long I was under it, but I still felt it's effects, now I know how Merton must have felt, how my father must have felt when I cast it on him that one time outside the hogs head.
And Snape now knew everything, about my baby, our location, were any of them safe?
Was I?
'Mara...?'
I heard my name but barely registered who had uttered it, simply watched the gentle rain.
'What did Carrow do to you?'
I recognised Neville's voice but I didn't spare him a glance, and remained silent for a good few moments before responding.
'Oh he just uh,' I muttered, and sighed 'what does it matter.'
'It does matter, ' Neville whispered 'it does matter what happens to you, Mara, you don't think we care about you any more but we do. I promise.'
My head shook and I pressed my hand to it in frustration.
'Mara, listen,' said Neville 'we only didn't let you back in because, well, we didn't want you to get in trouble with Snape or the Carrows, we thought, if you re-joined and were found out, well, you might be hurt.'
I glanced at the hand that pressed on my shoulder
'It doesn't matter any more...' I replied quietly 'nothing does.'
I pulled myself away from a perplexed looking Neville, walking away from him and leaving him alone in the windy corridor staring after me...
Snow replaced the wet and windy weather as Christmas approached.
The castle looked beautiful coated in it, but I was unable to appreciate the picturesque scene as darkness crept into every inch of my mind.
'Mind if I join you?' I asked as I pulled open the compartment door, Ginny, Luna, Neville and Seamus all looked at me 'Everywhere else is full.'
'Sure, Mara.' said Neville 'Take a seat.'
I made myself comfortable near the door and focused my attention outside the compartment, the four resumed their conversation.
The train shuddered into motion, and Hogwarts began to crawl away from view.
I barely listened to what they were discussing, and I pressed my head on the door, closing my eyes and resting them.
I jumped awake however when the train slowed to a stop about halfway through our journey.
'This can't be good.' said Ginny, as shouts and shrieks issued throughout the train.
I pulled open the compartment door and poked my head out among others, and men in robes and masks walked along the corridor, pulling open doors and yelling.
There was one taller, brutish one who was shouting at another student, and panic erupted inside me, I pulled back the door and turned towards the others who were watching me.
'Death Eaters.' I remarked, and Seamus groaned, and I leapt back as the door reopened, and several Death Eaters appeared before us, and in front of us a vile, sneering face.
He stared at me with a sense of familiarity, and he smiled.
'Hello darling.' he grinned 'Long time no see.'
I was pulled backwards by a hand gripping my arm, and Ginny stood in front of me, glaring intensely at the werewolf.
'We're looking for Luna Lovegood,' said Greyback 'Any of you seen her?'
The boys hid Luna behind them, shielding her from view.
'We don't know where she is,' said Neville 'Didn't see her get on the train.'
Greyback glowered, and the boys yelled indignantly as they were forced apart by his wand
'You Lovegood?' he grunted, and Luna stepped forward
'No, Luna-' I made to grab her but she shook her head with a small smile.
'I am.'
One of the men launched forward and grabbed her hair, pulling her towards him.
'No, Luna!' Ginny cried, and yelped as she was forced down onto the bench, along with a squirming Neville and Seamus.
'Let her go!' demanded Neville 'Luna!'
'Oh and, we need you too, sweetheart.' Greyback smirked
'What do you need me for?' I demanded hotly 'I'm a Half Blood Slytherin, it's been proven-'
'None of that matters,' scoffed Greyback 'the Dark Lord needs you for other reasons. And it involves your daddy.'
'My father?
'That's right,' said Greyback 'now, you can either take my hand like a good girl,' he raised his hand towards me 'Or I can play a little rough with you, and I know how you enjoy that.'
I glared, my fists shaking, enraged.
'Mara, don't!' Ginny cried.
I didn't exactly want to be manhandled, I was sick of that.
Leaving all my dignity behind, I took Greyback's hand.
'Heh, good, very obedient, you're finally starting to get it.' he grinned, and glanced down at our entwined fingers 'Like a proper, loving couple, eh, girly?'
'You sick freak!' Ginny bellowed, then she cried as Greyback swung his wand, and she fell to the compartment floor, writhing in pain.
'No! No! Stop it, please!'
Greyback lowered his wand 'Since you asked so nicely.'
'Come on then, darling, let's get out of here.'
'No! Luna! Mara!' Neville cried as we were both dragged off the train...
'Happy to be home, beautiful?' Greyback asked as we made our way towards a pair of wrought iron gates that secured a towering manor house above it.
I looked up at Greyback in what I hoped was a glare, but it felt pathetic under his grin.
I can't believe I was back here again, I had only just managed to escape, and here I was, returning to Malfoy Manor, fucking hand in hand with Greyback, I felt like I wanted to throw up.
Through the bars I could see a woman with thick, shining dark hair, long eyelashes and heavily hooded eyes peering widely at us from behind them.
'State your business.' she demanded in a cold voice, I had never seen Bellatrix Lestrange before, she would be pretty if it weren't for the twisted sneer and crazed look in her eyes.
'Fenrir Greyback, I've located Luna Lovegood and Mara Morris and I'm bringing them in.'
Bellatrix stepped back as the gate's opened.
'What is the meaning of this?' Bellatrix demanded, pointing at our still entwined fingers 'Why are you hand in hand with that child?'
'Bit of a thing, aren't we, didn't you hear?'
Bellatrix rolled her eyes impatiently 'Of course I heard, you didn't stop telling people, you fiend.'
Greyback grinned widely
'Well, don't just stand around, bring them in.'
We walked towards the manor, my heart thudding, and sweat running down my forehead. I wanted to scream, tell Bellatrix exactly what Greyback did to me, not like she would care in any case, the crazy bitch.
'Take the prisoners into the cellar,' said Bellatrix 'I'll inform the Dark Lord!'
'I'll take the girlies.' said Greyback, who grabbed Luna's hair and pulled me towards a set of steep steps, I was impressed by Luna's lack of resistance to her manhandling. I stared at her as we were forced down the steps, and she gave me a small, warm smile.
How was she not afraid, terrified even?
If she was, she was hiding it very well.
We were shoved through a steel gate, which clanged shut behind us, Luna was let go but my hand still remained in Greyback's own.
'Mara?'
'Oscar!' I cried and rushed forward in greeting, but I yelped as I was pulled back by Greyback.
'Let her go!' demanded Oscar 'Let her go you sick bastard!'
Oscar crumpled to the floor screaming as Greyback swung his wand.
'No! Oscar!'
I hurried towards him as I was let go, the werewolf ceased his torture and I lowered to Oscar's side.
'I'll be back for you, baby.' he pointed towards me, grinned, then turned to leave through the gate.
I helped Oscar up onto his feet, where he wobbled.
'Mara-it's so good to see you,' he breathed and we hugged each other tightly 'Despite the circumstances.'
'Yeah, I'm glad you're still-you know.'
Oscar held me at arms length to look at me, and he frowned
'You look older.'
'Gee, thanks.' I remarked 'Where have you been this whole time?'
'Oh, I was wandering on my own for awhile, here and there, eventually I ran into Dean and Griphook-' he said, pointing to each, Dean Thomas, the Gryffindor boy was talking to Luna, and Griphook, the goblin, was sat on the floor, I also noticed Ollivander hanging back, watching us.
'He didn't-you know, hurt you, did he?' asked Oscar warily 'Why were you holding hands?'
'He said he would be rough with me if I didn't hold his hand,' my head shook 'just a twisted power play.' I sighed 'And I'm sick of men playing rough.'
Oscar frowned
'I'm sorry...'
'Do you know why I'm here?' I asked 'Greyback mentioned Harold but didn't elaborate.'
'Oh, yeah,' said Oscar, and I noticed Luna approach, standing beside me 'Well, Greyback reckons if Harold finds out you're here, he'll come after you and reveal himself, since the Death Eaters have been after him for awhile.'
I sighed heavily 'And I think I know why they wanted Luna.'
'Because of what Daddy has been writing in the Quibbler,' Luna nodded 'I know.'
'This is so fucked.' I growled 'Everything is just so shit. I hate this.'
'We'll get out of here,' said Oscar hopefully 'one way or another, it's going to end up with Greyback dead. I promise you that.'
