Chapter 52

"Her cheeks reddened and she got this shy look. Something totally uncharacteristic of her. I was ready for her to challenge me or even to punch me, but instead she gave a step forward and surprised me when she kissed me. Unexpected. Just like everything she ever does."

Edward remembered that moment and treasured the memory of the first day they started being something else.

"We didn't label it. We didn't over-think it. We just let ourselves feel. And it felt damn right. She smiled to me and pulled me by the hand back outside after a couple of kisses..."

He didn't need to mention it was practically a make-out session to his sister. It could have been an hour or so, that they spent there.

"When we reached the door she dropped my hand and turned to me with a panicked expression and I panicked to... I thought she was regretting it, but instead she said: 'we can't tell... Charlie will never let me sleep over at your house again if he ever finds out.' And she had a good argument there; a part of me wanted to be selfish and keep it to ourselves for a while. I just never expected the time would be prolonged as much as it did."

Understanding flooded Alice's mind for probably the hundredth time this day.

"Oh My God! So every time I found her already up bright early after a sleep-over it was because you've slept together? I can't even imagine... you never used my room, did you? I mean... you're my brother for god's sake." Alice shuddered at the involuntary images that flooded her mind.

"Gosh! Of course not Alice... We didn't even have sex before we graduated; and damn it's none of your business anyways. I'm NOT discussing that. You ARE my sister!" Edward took a few deep breaths and tried to control the mental images too... He didn't want to associate more private memories with his sister and she was making things harder with her colorful thoughts and inappropriate comments.
