Prompt #376 from Tamingthemuse- Retribution

Note: From now on most of my Tamingthemuse stories will be named as the challenge.

Spike helped Xander pack up his stuff and move it to his room. It made sense considering his was larger and his bed was king size. Which was good considering Xander loved to hog the bed in his sleep.

Xander was organizing his DVD's with Spikes in alphabetical order. Apparently Xander had a slight OCD condition.

Sammie' cage hung from the ceiling.

"Hey, Spike?" Xander called as he placed all the Die Hard movies together.

"Yeah, luv?" Spike answered as he made the bed. Okay so maybe he was a little OCD as well. He liked a neat bed. He sat at the bottom of the bed waiting on Xander.

Xander was silent for a moment. "What made you decide to kill your first slayer?" When Spike didn't answer Xander continued. "You don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

Spike looked up at Xander with a tight smile. "It's fine, luv. The second slayer was purely for sport. She was there in New York with me so I figured why not. It gave me something to do. My first slayer, the one in China was anything but. It was pure retribution."

Xander crawled across the carpet until he was in front of Spike. "What happened?" He couldn't deny that his curiosity peaked.

Pale fingers ran through Xander's hair. "I was in China with my family… my vampire family," Spike corrected himself. "We heard that a war was going to start and we thought it would be fun to help move things along."

"Family? It wasn't just you and Dru?" Xander asked.

Spike chuckled. "No, It was myself, Dru, my great grand sire and my great great grand sire."

"Wow. I guess that was a pretty dumb question. I mean how else would Drusilla have been a vampire," Xander stated.

Spike bopped Xander on the nose with his finger. "It wasn't dumb. There are plenty of vampires that sire and then just abandon them. My family was just a little bit different."

"So what happened?" Xander encouraged Spike to continue.

"We didn't know there was a slayer nearby. While we were trying to cause destruction the slayer was there trying to stop it. Angelus and Darla, my great grand sire and great great grand sire went off on their own and ended up running into the slayer. Now for how old they were they'd never come up against a slayer before. They tried to steer clear of them."

Xander rested his head against Spike's knee. "What happened?"

"Darla encouraged Angelus to fight the slayer. Neither knew just how strong she was. Now I'm not saying Angelus was weak he gave as good as he got but it just wasn't enough. When Darla realized that Angelus wasn't going to win she ran. She found us and stuck around long enough to explain what happened before abandoning us." Spike paused. "I told Dru to go back to our hide out and I'd see if I could save Angelus's arse. Just as I got there I saw the slayer stake Angelus."

Xander's eyes widened.

"Now I didn't like him much but he was family. It was the perfect time to strike. The slayer had taken a beating herself and I knew I could over power her. The fight only lasted a few minutes. I drained her dry and left her corpse by Angelus's ashes. That's where I got this scar from." Spike ran his fingers over the scar on his left eyebrow.

Xander rose up on his knees and kissed the scar.

Spike smiled fondly at Xander. "So Darla deserted us. We never saw her again. We headed to Prague after that."

"I'm sorry," Xander said.

"No need to apologize, sweets. I wasn't that fond of Angelus or Darla and me and Dru had more than a hundred years together. Besides I've got you now, don't I?"

"Forever," Xander promised.

Spike kissed Xander. "Forever sounds wonderful to me, Xan."

When Xander pulled away he said, "You do whatever you have to, to make sure you come back to me."

Spike pulled Xander up onto his lap. "I promise."
