Chapter 16: Confessions and Traps

"I'm confident that their investigation will end in the apprehension of the suspects"

Rocco clicked off the small TV and the grainy image of Agent Smecker disappeared. Teagan sat inbetween Connor and Murphy, twizzling her rosary in her fingers as Rocco turned to face the three of them.

"Fuckin' hell" breathed Connor, his face displaying a slight hint of worry. Murph bowed his head to light a cigarette, squeezing Teagans hand.

"What? What, that guy?" Rocco gestured to the TV.

"That's the guy that got us off da hook with da Chekov thing" Murphy explained, exhaling smoke out his nose.

"He's a smart man" Teagan said, taking the cigarette from Murphy and inhaling the toxic smoke. Rocco frowned, looking a little frightened for a second.

"They got nothin'" he assured the Irish threesome, although he didn't look as convinced.

"He's very sharp" said Connor, "If he hasn't figured us out yet, he will"

"You bet yer arse he will" Murphy scoffed, looking at his brother.

"Well, I'd say that makes him a lia-fuckin'-bility" Rocco said in all seriousness.

"He isn't to be touched" said Connor, firmly, frowning at his friend.

"He's a good man, Roc" reasoned Teagan, leaning forwards on the table "And we don't hurt da good ones, remember?"

Rocco sighed in exasperation, throwing his hands up a little.

"Okay, whatever" he said, taking a sip of his beer. The four of them sat in silence, drinking and smoking until Connor cleared his throat.

"So, what are yer plans fer a weddin'?" he glanced at Teagan and Murphy, who both looked at each other and shrugged. Rocco nearly spat out his drink as he choked in surprise.

"You's two are getting' hitched?! When the fuck did this happen? I thought all three a you's had some sort a fucked up relationship deal goin' on?"

"Nice, Roc" Teagan rolled her eyes. "It happened dis afternoon if ya must know. We just decided…between the three of us…that it was meant to be" she shrugged, unable to think of an explanation.

"And you're okay with this?" Rocco looked at Connor, gesturing to Teagan and Murphy. Connor nodded, exhaling smoke.

"It's destiny Roc" he shrugged "Besides, she's more like me little sister, and it just proves that de ladies go fer a sense a humour, not de looks" he grinned as Murphy glared at him.

"Fuck ye! I got de looks and de sense a humour" Murphy sat back in his chair as Connor laughed "And I was born first!"

"No way, how de fuck would ya know dat? Ma never told us dat! Besides, it was obviously me!" Connor argued, gesturing to himself. Teagan rolled her eyes as the boys began to bicker back and forth, and Rocco chuckled whilst finishing his beer.

"Surely the only one who can answer this question is Tee?" Rocco smirked and the boys both looked at her. She raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"How de fuck would I know? I wasn't dere, and I've never spoken to yer ma!" she looked at the boys, who now had the same smirks on their faces as Rocco. "Am I missin' something here?"

"We asked Ma, and she said the one with the bigger cock was da one who was born first" chuckled Murphy.

"And, de only person who can really answer that is ya, lass" Connor put an arm around the back of Teagan's chair. "Just be nice when ye break it ta Murph dat hes da younger one, wont ya lass?"

"Oh, no way am I fuckin' getting' inta dis!" Teagan exclaimed, jumping up out of her seat and glaring at the boys. "You bastards keep me outta dis, do ye hear me?!" she glared at the brothers who were trying to hold back their laughter. "Fuck ye both! I'm goin' ta bed."

Teagan turned on her heel and headed towards the small bedroom, slamming the door shut before lying down on the bed. She was pissed, and she could hear the boys laughing, which just made her even more pissed. She rolled her eyes and sat up, stripping off her jeans and shoes and climbing under the duvet, sighing angrily as she relaxed, her body still sore from the bullet wounds. She closed her eyes and allowed herself to drift off. A few hours later, Murphy crept into the bedroom, pulling off his jeans, shoes and shirt, crawling into the small bed next to his fiancée. He wrapped his muscular arm around her small body, holding her close to him. She sighed and groaned a little in her sleep, rolling over to face him as her eyes fluttered open. Murphy placed a soft kiss on her nose.

"I'm sorry we made ya mad, Tee" he whispered, rubbing his nose against hers. She smiled a little and wrapped her arms around his neck, kissing his lips softly, but quickly turning it into a heated kiss.

"I'll forgive ya I suppose" she whispered back "You are da oldest, after all"

"I fuckin' knew it!"

OOOOOOO

The next morning, Rocco drove the twins and Teagan to church, pulling up just as the bells were sounding out. Murphy flicked his cigarette out the window, as the boys got out of the car, Connor offering his hand to Teagan as she climbed out the back after him. She smiled at him, letting him pull her up and the two of them went into the church, taking the empty pews towards the back to pray for a few minutes. Murphy followed them in a few seconds later, taking a seat beside Teagan, as they all bowed their heads and sat in silence. However, a few moments later, Teagan's head lifted up at the sound of clumsy footsteps staggering into the church. Her eyes widened at the sight of an obviously drunk Smecker as he fell into the confession booth, oblivious to their presence. Heavy snoring followed suit and she breathed a sigh of relief, bowing her head back down. She felt Connor move beside her, and opened her eyes once more, following him with her eyes, watching him dart into the confession booth. She thought nothing of it, and bowed her head, praying in silence.

"C'mon love" Murphy mumbled five minutes later, pulling her from her trance, as Connor stormed back out of the confession booth. Teagan frowned in confusion as they walked out, Rocco throwing his arm over Murphy's shoulders.

"The Lord works in mysterious ways" the Italian grinned, patting Murphy's shoulder. Teagan and Murphy exchanged confused glances.

"What de fuck's dat supposed ta mean?" Murphy questioned. Rocco continued to grin and kept silent. The four of them walked along the streets of Boston, until they reached a payphone. Connor spoke to Smecker quickly, describing the older man they had encountered the day before, and telling the FBI agent their plans to move on to New York that night, as it was getting too hard to stay in Boston, after they had taken care of Papa Joe and the rest of the Yakavetta family.

After that was done, they could finally leave this entire mess behind.

OOOOOOOO

Papa Joe Yakavetta stood in front of his mantelpiece, carefully loading bullets into his precious handgun. Calming piano music played in the background, and soft lighting added to the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. He did not move when the door burst open, just simply carried on loading up the chamber as his henchman spoke.

"We got 'em, they tried to get in through the basement!" the dark haired man panted. Papa Joe did not turn to face him still.

"How many?" the Italian asked, calmly.

"Four."

Papa Joe smirked, clicking the chamber into place and cocking the gun, before leaving the room, and heading towards the basement.
