Thanks to Sonic's speed he and Silver was able to arrive at Resistance HQ at the same time as the others, the other prison breaks seemed to have gone well based on the fact that the other teams was arriving with everyone that they had rescued.
Amy was at the front door waiting for everyone, when Amy saw the state of Blaze and Gemerl her face became panicked, "Someone help Blaze to the infirmary, and get Gemerl to Tails quickly" she said to the troops.
Then Amy saw Sonic and she immediately ran up and hugged him, "Sonic I'm so glade your safe" she said, "Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere" said Sonic reassuring Amy, "I'm OK too, thanks for asking" said Silver while rolling his eyes.
Resistance HQ, infirmary.
Inside the base Blaze was taken to the infirmary where she was place on a bed, "Ms Blaze I hoped that you wouldn't be back here so soon" said Vanilla as she came to check on her, "So did I" said Blaze.
Vanilla went over Blaze's injuries, "Oh dear, those ribs of yours are going to need to heal before you can do anything" said Vanilla, "How long will it take" asked Blaze, "I'm not sure, but I'm not letting you leave until your fully healed this time" said Vanilla sternly.
Blaze sighed, she definitely didn't want to be stuck in here while there was a war going on, "Don't worry Blaze, I can keep you company" said Cream who had just jumped to Blaze's side, this a least did make Blaze smile.
Resistance HQ, Tails's lab.
Gemerl was taken into Tails's lab, the young fox was very surprised to see Gemerl like this, "Gemerl what happened" asked a shocked Tails, "Infinite" answered Gemerl simply, Tails nodded and asked the two who was helping Gemerl to place him on a workbench.
"Gadget I'm going to need some help here" called Tails as he looked over Gemerl's damaged body, Gadget stopped fixing a broken wispon and came over to help.
Gadget used the miles electric to scan Gemerl, "This is bad, it looks like his circuits was set on fire" he said as he looked at the results, Tails took a quick glance at the screen and asked "How did that happen".
"Infinite electrocuted me" said Gemerl, "I didn't know he could do that" said Gadget, "I guess there's still a lot we don't know about him" said Tails, "I hope that you at least got a few good hits in" said Gadget as he went to grab some tools to fix Gemerl.
Tails and Gadget started work on repairing Gemerl, "This looks bad, some of your parts have almost melted" said Tails as they opened Gemerl up, "It looks like your fight went pretty badly" said Gadget, "It wasn't as bad as you think" said Gemerl.
"What do you mean" asked Tails, "While I was fighting Infinite I was able to scan him, and I learned a few things about his powers" said Gemerl, "Really? You was able to scan Infinite's powers, how" said Gadget in astonishment.
"Well, Gemerl was built from the remains of a Gizoid, so it makes sense that he can scan things that other machines can't" explained Tails, Gadget didn't know what a Gizoid was but he knew that this wasn't the time to ask about it.
"So what did you learn Gemerl" asked Tails, "First, about two thirds of Infinite's body is cybernetic, and the cybernetics seem to be Eggman made" said Gemerl, "So Infinite's a cyborg, that would explain why he can take so much damage and keep fighting" said Tails.
"Second, I can confirm that the source of his power is the gemstone that has been surgically attached to his chest" said Gemerl, everyone had already guessed that the glowing gemstone was the source of Infinite's power so this was nothing new.
"Third, the gemstone does not match any substance in the known universe, also it's power does not match any known power sources in any database" said Gemerl, "But, if it doesn't match anything in the universe then what is it and where did it come from" asked Gadget.
"I'm not sure, it could mean that that gem is from another universe, or it could just be that nothing like it has ever been discovered before" said Tails, "Did you learn anything else about this gemstone" he asked Gemerl.
"Yes, based on my scan I believe that the gemstone has reality warping abilities" said Gemerl, "What, but if that thing can alter reality then there's no telling what it's capable of" said Tails sounding worried.
"It get worse, I also detected that the gem is emitting a energy that is damaging all of reality around it" said Gemerl, "What? Are you saying that Infinite could destroy reality itself" asked Tails, "It is possible" answered Gemerl.
Tails and Gadget was silent for a moment, they both knew that this war had just become a lot more serious, no one said a word as Tails and Gadget continued to repair Gemerl they was far too busy thinking about what Gemerl had just told them.
Finally after many minutes the silence was broken, "Tails what's in that box over there" asked Gemerl as he pointed to the containment box in question, "Just a few random things, why" asked Tails, "My sensors are picking something up from inside it" said Gemerl.
"I don't see what could be in there" said Gadget as he opened up the box and started to rummage through it, Gadget pulled out a few spare parts, a couple of broken wispon power cells and a pair of rocket boots that neither he or Tails was able to get working.
"There that's is" said Gemerl as Gadget pulled out the Spectral sapphire, "This thing, this is what's setting your sensors off" asked a confused Gadget, "Yes, what is it" said Gemerl, "It's just some weird gem that I found in New metropolis" said Gadget.
"Are you sure that this is what your picking up Gemerl, we checked this gem when we first found it but we didn't find anything too interesting" said Tails, Gemerl looked closely at the sapphire "No there's definitely an energy signature coming from that gem," he said.
"Well we already knew that it was putting out some kind of energy, we just don't know what it does" said Tails, "Do you have any idea what this gem is Gemerl" asked Gadget.
Gemerl scanned the Spectral sapphire as carefully as he could, "It seems to have been artificially made, and the energy that it's putting out seems to have an opposite frequency to the power that Infinite uses" he said.
"Opposite" said Tails as he thought about this for a second, "Could this gem somehow affect Infinite's power" he asked, "I don't know" said Gemerl, "Well then we have to find out" said Tails.
"Gemerl with your help we could run a bunch of simulations on the computer and find out if this gem could affect Infinite's powers" said Tails becoming excited by the idea, "Of course I'll help" said Gemerl.
"Great, Gadget are you ready" asked Tails, "I'm already booting up the computer" said Gadget who was doing as he said.
