This is the last chapter...after 5 years of thinking and writing this story...
Things are returning to normal, but it's true?
Well...Katheryn has to make therapy despite her whooped Drake's arse, has nightmares, and doesn't let any man approach her, and a relationship with anyone will be...postponed for the moment, but there are good signs, yet she has a long way ahead to heal.
Galvatron helps her despite being far away... Kate is there too. The first step for the healing process was done...now she has to face her abuser...look him in the eyes and send him to jail!
Perhaps exists some chemistry between Katheryn and our buddy Galvatron?
...I don't know, but that is another story to tell.

Aftermath...
The routine returns to normal, and Kate is in her office when the Commander shows up, she gives the usual salute... the Commander notices that she is fresher, ready to get to work.
As is normal he asks how the holidays went and how things went with regard to her cousin... Kate begins to tell everything in detail... Commander O'Neil is stunned when he hears Aspirant Malloy recount everything that happened during vacations, the unvarnished truth... he was stunned when she told him the part where her cousin gave her abuser a beating, " Wow... remind me never to be on the bad side of your cousin, Aspirant." Kate just smiles, saying, "Rest assured my Commander.
My cousin has no reason to attack you, relax!" O'Neil also hinted that Kate would probably be one of her cousin's key witnesses, as there is a criminal who deserves to be behind bars.
"That's if my cousin's Lawyer sends me any notice!" Kate assures and O'Neil is curious, "Will you go in uniform?" The girl raises her eyebrow quite surprised, "I don't want to intimidate anyone, Commander, I'll go casual!" The man looks at that red-haired girl with different eyes, "Humble as ever, Aspirant Malloy!" She sits down, "Well now I have to start reviewing these documents I left here, and the work is a lot!" O'Neil gives the usual greeting, leaving Kate alone in the office.
But until then there would be a lot of work ahead, and Kate would apply herself a lot, after all, there are missions to organize and accomplish.
In Chaar...
Galvatron is pleased with the joint leadership of Soundwave and Scourge, everything is perfect, and all reports were delivered on time during the time he was away.
His men are satisfied, and when that happens there is better performance in their work.
He even liked some changes implemented by Soundwave in the base... well...all approved by Galvatron even though he was far from Chaar.
The Autobots are also very pleased with these same changes, which could even help the relationship between both factions and Earth.
On the other hand, Cyclonus always contacts Kate, to mitigate the longing.
What about Drake?
Well... As soon as he left the hospital, he was awaiting trial in jail, as there would be the possibility of escape until the investigation was over.
Speaking of Investigation... What did they discover?
He is suspected of illicit activities... All with the help of dubious companies, and some of these "friends" had records of assault and rape.
They discovered that he had been previously married and that he had mistreated his wife, including rape, deceived Katheryn by saying that he was single but was not in fact, had hidden the fact that he had been married previously, in another state, and the previous woman separated from him by domestic assaults... he had several counts of rape and was suspected of trying to kill another woman... and that nothing had been proved... He was accused of mistreating animals just for sheer pleasure... but why hadn't he killed Katheryn's two cats? Simple... because if he did it...could be the suspect number one.
All these crimes had never been proven by the authorities who received complaints not only from the women, he mistreated... some friends and people from the small town... because there were suspicions that he bribed some of the sheriff's deputies to turn their faces to the side regarding the crimes he committed.
Joel had revealed that he also wanted the Malloy estates, and by marrying Katheryn, thought he had access to the inheritance, and that he planned to kill the family... but they were smarter than him, first married with separation of property, and made him sign a prenuptial agreement, in case the parents were killed, everything would go to Kevin and Kate which thwarted Drake's plans.
Then another crime joined... bribery, conspiracy, and death threats against third parties... notably against Katheryn and Kate, the Sheriff's deputies who contributed to the concealment of Drake's crimes were suspended from their duties, arrested immediately, and were to stand trial.
This time the crimes of domestic violence and animal abuse could be proven thanks to the collection of evidence by Katheryn and Laserbeak... all this with the knowledge of the authorities and the detectives investigating Drake... all because Joel contributed to the authorities.
When the supposed friends found out that he was imprisoned, and that he had been disinherited, they all abandoned him to his fate, for he was no longer of any use.
And not only... when began to circulate through the small town that he had taken a woman's beating and had been humiliated by her, Drake who had once been considered a tough man... He began to be considered weak, at least to those like-minded friends.
But for others it was much more... when they learned that he beat defenseless women to enforce his will, and that he committed other crimes... for them Drake had lost his credibility and value... For if he had committed crimes against others, imagine what he could do to his own parents and children if he had them. These friends didn't want to have anything to do with someone like Drake in their community... Katheryn on the other hand earned everyone's respect because she fought and won and everyone knows her as a hard-working woman and very good for others... she didn't deserve to suffer at Drake's hands.
What about Drake's henchmen? They also abandoned him because he had no money, and was not a good boss.
When he found out that everyone had deserted him... he is furious and vows to take revenge on everyone, "They will pay dearly!" An inmate just asks, "Why do you scream, man?" He screamed at the top of his lungs, "I want revenge... everyone will pay with their lives! The prisoner only scolds him, "Why don't you shut up?" Drake is stunned by the words, "... W... What?! How dare you?!" The prisoner looks him in the eye, "Your threats are empty like you... you are empty of body and soul... You have no value as a person." Those words were enough to silence him.
"I've made certain decisions in my life, and I've made a lot of mistakes ... and I'm here because of it! Revenge is not good for anyone." Drake is shocked by the words of that recluse, who continues, "Don't be arrogant, and learn from your mistakes... make peace with yourself and live without incident!" Drake concludes, "I didn't commit a crime!" The prisoner looks him in the eye again, "Really? I think you're stuck up to your neck!" The other is shocked, "H... how do you know?" The prisoner says confidently, "I have eyes and ears... and everyone here knows who you are, a coward!" Drake is in shock, "Pray that you will not have life in prison as I have been, for when we are deprived of our freedom life tends to be very sad and full of darkness." And then he just warns him, "We don't like rapists and abusers of women here!" Drake swallows dryly... This time he will learn what to be constantly afraid of twenty-four hours a day... and begins to pray, that the Judge may have pity on him, and the prisoner who is in the next cell, seeing that Drake is on his knees, "Turn to God... Give you some peace of mind." And he doesn't say anything else so as not to upset Drake who cries.
The investigation takes about 3 months... and everything had been collected in full detail the Judge accepted everything, and a date had been chosen, it was going to be before Christmas to the delight of Katheryn and the rest of the family.
Because of this Drake had no other remedy... signed the Divorce papers... But was it because of the proximity of the trial? None of that... The words of that unknown prisoner hit him deep in his mind... which made him think, so he signs the Divorce papers without needing to be threatened by Galvatron... nor did it take a judge since Drake was not entitled to anything, for he and Katheryn had married by separation of property, and everything belonged to his wife.
Katheryn is free as a little bird... and she may remarry.
And she let her cousin know everything including the date of the Trial that was going to be soon... bet Kate will rave about the news.
Meanwhile...
And since Katheryn was right... Kate when she heard the news about Divorce... She was overjoyed to know that the marriage bonds that bound them together had been broken for good... So her cousin could do "ahem" without conditioning, and has a sense of who the person would be or in this case a certain mech is chosen to do it, smiling mentally.
But there's also the notion that Katheryn has to recover from the traumas Drake has caused her over the time they've been married and will have to have psychological help to do so until everything is overcome... for she still has certain fears, still trembles when some man gets too close to her, still can't bear to be alone with one, nor does she sit fit to have a relationship with someone, that's why she still has a long way to go.
December arrives as well as the day of Drake's Trial, and Kate is present... She will not be a witness but she is there to support her cousin, who has to face the person who has wronged her so much during her married life.
She comes dressed casually, so as not to influence the judge or the jury, that's why she didn't bring Cyclonus or Galvatron, so people wouldn't be intimidated by her presence, and she's there along with her uncles, Kevin and Linda.
All the evidence is analyzed, witnesses on both sides are heard, even Katheryn herself is questioned, who answers everything without flinching... and Drake hears everything... It doesn't show the slightest bit of empathy or regret, but it says nothing.
He watches seeing that none of his friends are there to support him, and those who are, count themselves by the fingers, and try to defend him as best they can, but that's about it.
A lot comes to mind, but at that precise moment what he feels... It is the fact that it has been abandoned by everyone.
At the end of all the witnesses having been heard, there were the deliberations of each of the lawyers, to see who came to the judge who was irreducible in relation to his sentence ... But it all depended on the jurors... who did not delay in their deliberations and delivered the sentence to the Judge.
Then he looks into Drake's eyes, "How do you declare yourself?" Drake as he had a big ego replies, "Innocent." That caused a buzz in the courtroom, but with a gesture from the Judge one of the Jurors stood up beginning to read, "We declare Drake Edwards guilty of the crime of Domestic Violence, attempted murder, mistreatment of animals, bribery, rape, and finally conspiracy." When Drake hears that, his whole world falls apart.
The Judge only says, "In light of the evidence reviewed and heard from witnesses on both sides, Drake is guilty of the aforementioned crimes, so he will be sentenced to 40 years in prison, without parole.
It will go to the High-Security Prison Facility of USP Beaumont, Texas, the sentence is effective immediately." Drake turns white as a wall since this prison has dangerous inmates... He won't last even a year in that prison.
Then he hears the Judge, "You could have a happy marriage next to the one you love the most, but instead chose the path of violence towards his wife who is a good woman and who respected you very much, which he did not do...instead of repaying the good with the good... preferred to repay with evil.
Harmed many people with his kind of violent conduct, even threatened to kill the family that welcomed him with open arms in their midst, and most serious of all threatened someone who saved our planet from total destruction... conspired against the Government... with the coldness of someone who is capable of killing just to satisfy his whims."
Then the Judge turns to Katheryn, "Do you have anything to say to your ex-husband?" She stands up, "Yes... I have sir. Judge!" So just say to Drake,
"I loved you so much... But you preferred to repay that love through abuse, inordinate violence against me, for what? Just to feed your ego?
If you weren't like that... you could have all of the Malloy, but unfortunately, you didn't work for it... you preferred to oppress me with your violence as well as your unhealthy ideas that women are inferior to men and that they serve to serve YOUR unhealthy whims, you have left a negative mark on me that will take time to heal.
But I'm not inferior to YOU Drake, so much so that I'm not that I beat you in a fight, and you crawled at my feet like a worm... You knew what fear is.
You started this war but I FINISHED it and came out victorious." Then she just says, "I hope you're satisfied with the choice you made... the fact that you have been deprived of your freedom.
For my Freedom begins when yours ends!" Then closes her eyes, "I forgive you for what you did to me, Drake!" Those last words knocked Drake to the ground.
The trial ends when Drake is taken to his destination for the next forty years!
At night everyone retreats to the house, but there was a celebration... everyone is happy but Katheryn goes outside, starting to think that her way of living and thinking has changed a lot, from the moment Kate helped her out of a marriage with no Future... she freed herself from an abuser, but there was someone who helped her even more... Galvatron.
Due to what she has suffered for now she will not get involved with anyone romantically... not even with Galvatron as Kate thought some time before... it won't be easy for Katheryn to do so.
The best therapist for Katheryn is Galvatron... for even though he is far away, is always willing to listen to her in the darkest moments, advises her as best he knows, he is very patient with her and gives her a lot of strength, but she misses him there in that celebration and realized why he did not go to the Judgment... so that no one there would feel threatened by his presence and so as not to influence the jurors or the Judge.
But they both spend some time talking via computer, due to an intercom he'd given her before leaving months earlier.
To Kate's cousin, Galvatron is a great friend willing to help her, now if there is any romantic interest, no one knows, not even Kate... but until then Galvatron will always be by Katheryn's side.
Kate is surprised by Katheryn's absence and goes outside to see her staring up at the starry sky while sipping a beer, "Hey... Is everything okay with you?" The girl in question turns, "Yes I am... I was organizing my head." Kate realizes, "It's normal, after so long oppressed it still costs a lot." Katheryn continues to stare, "My healing process began from the moment you went on vacation here at my parents' house in early July.
You taught me to fight and face my fears... in this case my abuser... I had therapy with someone so unstable of mind and even worse than Drake, but he was and is my pillar, Kate.
Galvatron is my confidant and mentor and above all is a real friend who has always been by my side... Even after you left at the end of your vacation we never stopped talking thanks to a Comlink that gave me... I loved every moment he was here helping us with the harvests." Kate puts a hand on her shoulder, "Good thing you see Galvatron like that, he'd be very glad to hear that from you." Katheryn only reveals, "I was sorry he didn't show up at the trial... But it was for valid reasons." Kate crosses her arms, "Glad you realized that cousin." Katheryn makes a revelation, "If I want to have sex... it will be with Galvatron, as I feel he will live up to my expectations." Kate is shocked, "Kathy... I don't know what to say... It's just a matter of sitting down with him and talking about this very touchy subject when you feel ready!" The other hugs her, "Thank you for your support, Kate!"
Kate recovers from the shock by asking a crucial question, "What about Drake... Do you feel sorry for him?" The girl nods, "Yes I do, but it was the path he chose for himself, and he will have to walk it alone!" A smile graced Kate's lips, "Not bad, Kathy! Let's go inside?" A nod, "Yes we will!" But Kate just says with a smirk, "Cybertronians have a big...ahem and can be gods in bed...I bet that Galvatron can...satisfy you." The other coughed, "H...how do you know?" Kate just laughs, "Remember I fuck with one...and Cyclonus satisfy me completely!" Katheryn blushes hard.
The celebration continues until it's time to go to bed, and the next day Kate leaves directly for New York... courtesy of Scourge who picked her up at the request of Cyclonus who would be waiting at her house... The routine is back to normal for everyone... until the beginning of the Christmas season when the whole family comes together...alongside Galvatron and Cyclonus of course.
