Arizona POV
Arizona got in late from her flight back to Seattle. She unlocked the door to her dark house and could physically feel the loneliness that was waiting for her as she stepped through the door. The blonde had never really minded being alone. After Tim's death she had to get good at it. But lately it felt like there was any where she'd rather be than alone in her empty house. Or at least one place she'd rather be.
Arizona sat down on her couch and held her head in her hands. New York has certainly been a lot of ups and downs. Her beautiful Sophia was growing up so quickly and it was so amazing to see her flourish into the smart girl she was becoming. Being in New York with her made her feel guilty for being so selfish for not giving up her career. Her daughter needed her and it wasn't fair to either of them to only see each other so little. When Callie had left, Arizona had been so angry that she forgot the most important thing. That her daughter have both her moms. The guilt always creeped back into her when she went to visit. Even though Callie should have been the one to stay, Arizona should have been the bigger person.
And 8 months a go it would have been easy to be the bigger person. She had no true ties keeping her in Seattle. She was angry at most of the people she worked with anyway. It would have been so easy to pack up and start again in New York, the way she always had as an army brat. She was good at change. But now.. Now things weren't so simple. Arizona shook the thoughts from her head as it really wasn't the time to be getting into that particular anxiety mess. Right now what she needed was sleep.
Arizona stood up and grabbed her things and headed towards her bedroom. As she rolled her luggage through the doorway, she saw the shape of a slender woman in her bed. Although at first a little alarmed, she quickly realized whose beautiful hair was laying across her pillow. Arizona quickly showered off the day and got ready for bed before tucking in next to the sleeping beauty. She crawled in behind Meredith and wrapped her arms around her before placing a kiss on the side of her face. Meredith stirred and woke slightly. "Mmm" she sleepily replied, "I'm sorry if it's not okay I'm here. I swore DeLuca to secrecy. I just missed you and thought that maybe you might want some company tonight.". Arizona smiles as her eyes started to water slightly. This woman was so thoughtful and so loving. It was a side of Meredith Arizona hadn't even known existed. Arizona just pulls the woman closer to her and replied before falling asleep, "I could come home to you for the rest of my life". And the two slept entangled in each other's arms until morning.
