prompt: Education

While at Saint Vlads, Rose spent most of the time she should have been studying doing other things—like researching Saint Vladimir and Shadow Kissed Anna in musty smelling books smuggled out of the church attic—so her grades were… less than stellar. To be completely honest, the only academic subject that she had even had a remote interest in was Animal Behavior and Physiology with Ms. Meissner, and that was the only class she ever made an effort in.

Needless to say, she despises the thought of going back to school, but if it's what Lissa wants, she'll do it without complaining—because there's no way in hell she's going to let her best friend set foot outside the safety of the wards without her by her side. She's prepared to sit and endure hour after hour of sitting through lectures on boring subjects like economics and political science, even though she knows she'll end up flunking out of each and every class.

When she finally picked up the course catalog from Lehigh University in Lissa's office and looked through it—she was beyond bored and tired of Lissa and Christian debating the pros and cons of educational reforms and needing a distraction—despite her misgivings about continuing education, her interest was actually peaked; there several courses in Life Sciences that intrigued her, covering things like the foundations of animal behavior and how the environment affects animal physiology. The sad thing is that since the courses aren't ones that Lissa will be taking, Rose won't be able to either. She knows all she'd have to do would be mention her interestand Liss would sign up for the additional courses, but she won't—because more classes means a heavier work load and more stress for the young queen. Without the bond to counter the ever present threat of Spirit's madness, that's a risk Rose just isn't willing to take.
