The days went by, and I found myself staying up late, working on the notebooks for my bandmates. One for Yaomomo, Tokoyami, Bakugou and Kaminari each. I'd stay up in my dorm room after finishing homework and with Midoriya's tips to guide me, figured out how to make them easy-to-follow for everyone else. It was shaping up to be one heck of a concert. We were sounding better and better as we went on, getting into a groove with each other. Bakugou had stopped throwing us off with his improv. Yaomomo seemed more confident. Kaminari and Tokoyami were really syncing up.
The night before the festival began, we were practicing all the way to 9PM in Gym Gamma. The whole dance squad was practicing their steps with our setlist, all in gym clothes instead of the outfits they'd designed for the pro show.
"Gotta close up the gym, so let's do a final run!" Said Iida. Ashido nodded and the dance squad ran through the sequence for the twentieth time to the recording we'd made of our best take the night before, as per Mina's request for the dancers.
"One two three, one two three! BAM!" she called, clapping her hands to get everyone moving. "And then Aoyama exits center stage via Midoriya!"
"Roger!" Said Aoyama.
"Midoriya! Still looking sloppy. Go! Go! Feel it!" Called Ashido towards him. "ROGER!"
Kirishima and Sero were sitting with Koda watching; only Todoroki out of the staging crew had joined us onstage.
"We ain't gonna let the band be the only one killing it with this performance!" I heard Kirishima scream. Yaomomo frowned and started wringing her hands a little.
"Well, now I'm simply nervous," she cried.
"No weird ebb-libbing tomorrow, ok?" I told Bakugou, who growled back "Huh?"
"We don't want anyone thrown off."
"You're so harsh!" Said Kaminari. Hyper-senstiive as always.
"She doesn't just mean you, Kaminari," said Tokoyami.
"Then Midoriya leaves the stage and scampers up to the ceiling to get Aoyama into position. He'll rise up on those ropes."
"IT'S ALREADY GRR 9PM!" Hound Dog slammed the door opened. "STUDENTS GOTTA LEAVE BY NINE, GRR!"
"Yikes, we're leaving!"
Now all that was left before the festival began at 9am the next day was to go to bed and get up.
But for most of us, we stayed up in the common area.
"I can't sleep!" Yelled Kaminari, running through the living space even past 11PM as the rest of us stayed up chatting.
"Keep it down, people are sleeping upstairs!" Said Ashido.
"Everyone's sure in high spirits," said Iida.
"It's best not to think about it for now," I told him. "If we start feeling nervous or shy, it'll hurt the performance. Once we're onstage we just gotta role with it and have fun."
"Ehh? I seem to remember someone getting all red in the face!" Kaminari called out to me.
"That's completely different!" I told him, and felt my face go red. Stupid Kaminari. Why does he have to always embarass me like that?
"What Jiro's saying applies to a lot of situations really," said Midoriya.
"Oui!" Said Aoyama. "People can do great things when it's for someone else's sake," Midoriya continued. He can be pretty deep when he wants to be. Then he frowned. "The rope's all frayed."
"Wow, it must be because we practiced so very long and hard," said Aoyama. "It is proof of our strong friendship, yes!" He smiled at Midoriya.
"Sure, but it could be dangerous," said Midoriya. "Sorry. I didn't notice until now."
"Can't Yaoyorozu create some more? She would be most helpful!" Said Kaminari, imitating her. Rude!
"But Yaomomo's already asleep!" Said Ashido. "And she ain't your personal tool factory!"
"Well everyone treats me like their personal generator!" he whined.
"I'll buy some more first thing tomorrow, since I'm the one who should have noticed," said Midoriya. "I've got my personal training, plus some other shopping to do anyway."
"Wait, we're on at 10AM, and most stores don't open until nine," said Kaminari.
"There's a hardware store about 15 minutes from here. I'm pretty sure they open at eight, actually."
"That's still cutting it close, man."
"We'd better catch some Z's for real!" Said Ashido.
"Great! We'll pick it up tomorrow. But listen up, fellow nite owls!" Said Kirishima. "We're gonna pull this off!" Most of my classmates threw their hands into the air in celebration. It was, it seemed, time.
The next day we'd take the stage. Me and my classmates would become A Band.
