Chapter 2: Welcome to Hogwarts!
I rubbed my face with both of my hands. Awkward silence was written in the air.
"What do you mean by 'busted'?" Harry asked.
"Uh, well." I gulped. "This," I circled the five of us with a finger, "was meant to be a secret."
"Why?"
I crossed my arms and legs. "We are usually low-down about our relationships. Especially in the real world."
"Relationship? Like lovers?" Hermione said out of pure curiosity.
"NO!" Kaede and I both jumped up in objection while Tenjoh smirked, Kurama ignored us and Seiran blushed.
Hermoine raised an eyebrow with an unbelievable expression. "Right."
"What exactly is so special about being…the…um." Harry tried to ask but couldn't find the name for it.
"You mean the 'Rose Dominion'?" I continued his sentence and shrugged, "I honestly don't know. The Headmaster suddenly asked for my presence."
The Golden Trio looked sceptical. It's not like I could blame them for being so confused. I was and so were my friends. The others might not have shown it, but they are all worried about the sudden transfer.
The sound of the compartment opening stopped my train of thoughts.
"Well, well. If it isn't Potter and his little idiot friends," a familiar voice entered.
"Malfoy," Ron growled.
Not quite understanding the murderous atmosphere, I stood up. "Hey, hold up! That wasn't very nice." The Blondie leered at my direction, but immediately his face dropped. Recognition lit a memory. I pointed a finger at him.
"Ah, wait. Aren't you the boy that I almost fell onto?"
His cheek flushed slightly, and for the first time, he was speechless.
"Oh no! Did someone jinx your tongue?" Ron said with no sincerity in his voice.
"Shut up, Weasley." Draco responded, recovering. He straightened his back and turned to exit the crowded compartment. "Let's leave these idiots here to rot." I crossed my arms in defiance and glared at his retreating back.
"Geez, what's with his attitude?! The nerve to enter and immediately insult you guys!" I huffed in the heat of anger.
"Don't ponder on it. It happens all the time," Hermione explains as she massages her temple, as if getting rid of an eternal headache. "Besides, he'll come back and try again."
I put two fists on my hips. "Someone should put him in his place."
"Sure, but right now isn't the time. Sit your arse down until we get to the school," Kaede said pulling me down next to him. I glared as I sat down, trying to restrain myself from using the thorn whip.
"Whatever," I mutter re-crossing my arms and planned on pouting for the rest of the ride.
The Golden Trio showed us the different snacks that the magical world had to offer. It took time, but my pout disappeared once Kaede got a booger flavored one. Tenjoh and Mutsuki managed to escape tasting it by either declining dramatically or ignoring us, it's a dead give-away who did what.
Once we sat back down after changing into our uniform, the trained slowed to a stop.
"Looks like we've arrived," Ron said getting up and headed out the compartment.
"Are you coming with us?" Harry asked us, halting at the door with Ron and Hermione.
I shook my head. "I think an escort is coming for us."
Harry nods. "We'll see you guys later then."
Our group stepped out to the busy crowd of kids going in all directions.
"Alrigh', firs' years, follow me!" Hadgrid held a torch with one hand and waved in the other.
I was conflicted to whether follow him, or stand there and wait for something to happen.
"Anis," Seiran tapped my shoulder, pointing at the opposite direction, "there's someone who wants to see you."
I raised an eyebrow and looked over and saw a woman who was stiffly looking at me as if telling me to come over.
"Come on, you guys. We got an escort," I turned to face my knights. They were standing behind me, side by side in their new Hogwarts uniform, looking as if they jumped out of a magazine. Girls were already distracted by them and were walking while looking back to the group of guys. Ignoring the stares, I jerked a thumb to where the professor was waiting for us.
"Let's go!" I exclaimed with a smile.
"Please, come this way," the professor, who introduced herself as Professor McGonagall said, walking us down a large corridor.
Who knew this school was originally a castle! The place had moving staircases, talking paintings, ghosts and (apparently) mythical creatures.
"Lemon drops," Miss McGonagall said to a statue which ending up revealing a room.
I looked to my knights, who were impressed. Well, except for Mutsuki. We strolled inside the room and were standing in front of a desk. Seated in front of us was a man with a long white beard and looked at us through his spectacles with joy.
"Greetings, Rhode knights and Dominion," the headmaster greets with a smile. "I'm the Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. Welcome to Hogwarts, though I must say, we have to get going. The opening ceremony is about to begin."
Questions were still boiling inside me from the first day I received the letter.
"Oh, but we could walk as we talk," he gives me a friendly wink.
I follow the Headmaster as we re-enter the corridors. "So, I still don't understand why I'm here."
"Excellent question! Our school will be hosting the Triwizard Tournament with two other schools. The reason I ask for your presence is to help bridge the three schools."
I pointed at myself. "You want me to become a communicator?!"
Dumbledore chuckled. "I think it's more like an advisor. You can help them with problems through-out the tournament." He stops in front of a double door that leads to the Dining Hall where I heard chatter through the crack of the opening.
"But, I don't even know anything about magic, heck not even how to cast a spell!" I protested.
Dumbledore wagged a finger in the air. "There's no need. This is something that magic cannot do."
"What does that mean?!" I exasperated.
"You'll see," the old man winked. He opened the doors and entered the hall. Everyone was watching us as we walked in.
I could tell that every eye were on the guys, they attract attention like pollen to bees. I waved at Harry and his friends who were sitting at one of the tables together. From where I was, it looked as if he was blushing slightly. Must be the lighting in the hall.
"Welcome everyone to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! Good to see new faces and the old ones. Oh, thankfully not as old as mine! That would be terrible." Dumbledore cheerfully began his welcome speech. Students laughed at the old joke.
"Jokes aside, I would like to set a few of the rules. That goes for all students, so pay attention. No one is to enter the Forbidden Forest for any reasons at all…," Dumbledore droned on about some don't-dos as the five of us were forced to stand in a row in front of stairs that lead to the teacher's table.
"…And lastly, it's sad to say that this year's Quidditch tournament is cancelled for the year."
Complaints rose in the Dining Hall. Quidditch must be big in their school, whatever it is.
"Silence!" The Headmaster calmed the storm immediately. I flinched at the power of his voice. Man, he can get serious if he needs to.
"The reason for the cancellation was for a special event that is being spent here in Hogwarts for the year. The Triwizard Tournament." I heard mixed voices and feelings of the students nearby.
"It comes every four years and is hosted by one of the three schools of magic. Our school has the honor of hosting it this year. Now, the neighboring schools, BeauxBaton and Durmstrang shall be the two other schools to be joining us tomorrow morning. They shall be staying at one of the houses. Oh, about the Dark Arts prof…"
Before he could finish his sentence, a man bursts through the doors, drenching wet from the rain that was occurring outside. He was a bit chubby and had a gruff image. The man limped to the podium, his wooden leg thumped against the carpeted part of the hall.
"Ah, just in time. As I was saying, I would like to introduce you all to your new Dark Arts teacher, Professor Moody." Dumbledore casually said to the students who were trying to digest the incredible teacher. If only they were in my position, Professor Moody was looking at me with a glass eye.
"Ahem," Dumbledore coughed. "Professor Moody, if you will please."
"Ah, right. My apologies," He walked to the teacher's table, looking back at me.
"One more thing, I would like to introduce the recently famous Rose Dominion, Ms. Anis Yamamoto and her Rhode Knights, Sir Kaede, Sir Mitsuru, Sir Seiran, and Sir Mutsuki."
I looked at the guys beside me, finally noticing:
Kaede narrowed his eyes
Mutsuki looked bored
Seiran was embarrassed
At least Mitsuru was waving at the dumbstruck students. I elbowed Kaede in the ribs. Hard.
"Don't just stand there, do something!" I whispered roughly to my right, where Kaede and Mutsuki stood.
I held Seiran hands. "And you, just smile." He calmed down and slowly waved with his other hand.
"They shall be staying with the Gryffindors until further notice," Dumbledore adds, groans were audible in the room as the one table cheers. I was the first to walk to the table, with my crew following behind me.
"Now, tuck in!" In a swish, food covered the center part of the tables. The surprise caught me off guard, but I still walked to the table.
"Hey guys," I said as smooth as I can and I sat next to Hermione. Kaede sat next to my other side (even though there was no room, he managed to scare the guy next to me out) with Seiran with him. Tenjoh was with Mutsuki, who was forced to follow him to a group of girls.
"Woah!" a boy said across from me, which startled me. "I've heard stories from my grandma about you."
"Really?" Curiosity coated the conversation. The boy nodded.
"Well. Say it, Neville!" Ron said through a mouthful of food.
"She said that there was a time where a royal family used to come over from a far away land where there was a beautiful rose garden that was rumored to be grown where in the summer through winter it is always alive. The special thing was that each rose represented the citizens of the Rose Dominion." The boy, Neville explained with glee. This was the first he was able to be in the spotlight.
"Oh, this story," Hermione nods. "I've read it in a book." Neville looked like a sad puppy for a minute, before Hermione notices and smiles encouragingly. "But you can say the rest."
Neville perks up with happiness. "Anyways, the lands were long forgotten, and no one seems to remember the story."
I sat in awe and drank down each word Neville said.
"Have you heard the story before?" Harry asked on the other side of Ron. I shook my head.
"First time I've heard it," I replied numbly. It sounded familiar, yet the word 'rose' kept make me think that somehow it was connected to me.
Everyone looked at me wearing different expressions, but by the looks of it, Kaede and the others seemed to be in deep thoughts like me.
THANK YOU EVERYONE for being so patient with me. I felt like this story was losing the flavor so I was trying to brain storm of new ideas .
V.V I'm sorry for being so late!
OH! One more thing, I've been thinking of starting new projects after some of these works…I'm planning ahead and don't worry, I promise to update faster. I've been busy during the summer studying music history…
To promote it, I've put a little tidbit of it in the story. Think of it as a future reference, plus more is on its way, but you'll have to find it yourselves ;)
Arigatou Minna!
