As you might be aware, certain actions can lead up to consequences. And while destroying the Saurian aircraft was a success for the ducks, it's going to be a blow for the tyrant himself. And thus, he may strike back with a vengeance. So while Danielle is being treated for her sickness, miles away in a hidden tower fortress, Dragaunus sat in his throne room impatiently. Until his minions teleported into the room, in front of him.
"Lord Dragaunus..." All three of them bowed before the overlord. But the latter cut right to the point. "Well? What happened to my new battleship?!"
Siege and Chameleon shoved the Wraith in front of them, emphasizing him to deliver the bad news. "I'm afraid, Lord Dragaunus, that it was shot down. By a strike team, led by the one called 'Canard'."
"WHAT?!"
"A thousand pardons, Lord. I told those two flying it was nonsense." Wraith bowed apologetically to him and glared back at the other two.
"Hey, it was your idea!" Chameleon pointed back at him, and Siege raised his fist to clobber him. But then they all had to duck down to avoid a fire blast, courtesy of Dragaunus.
"You insignificant fools!' He roared. 'I have been waiting for that battleship for weeks! Because of that pest Canard, I can only go so far with my plans. Something must be done to that duck."
He thought for a moment, then dismissed his minions to make a video call. There was only one Saurian he was sure was capable enough to take out that meddlesome captain of the resistance. Aside from himself, that is. But why should the ruler of the saurian overlords dirty his claws with work beneath him?
"Dynamo Terror." He said as a face appeared on the screen. It was a grey and rusty red saurian with little horns above his brow. But apparently, Dragaunus had called at a bad time. The saurian in question was picking his teeth with a bone.
"Oh! My lord."
If Dragaunus was disgusted by the teeth picking, he gave no indication. "I want you to destroy that captain of the resistance, Canard. I shall send you an accomplice who obtains the knowledge you shall need. Once you've completed your assignment, you shall receive a hefty reward..."
Dynamo Terror didn't like the idea of having help from a duck, but he wasn't about to object to the Saurian ruler. Especially if there's a hefty reward involved."As you command, my lord."
When the call ended, Dragaunus teleported to the dungeon of his fortress. Where he walked the halls, until he stopped in front of a cell. Inside, a certain female duck looked up at him from her spot. "Lucretia, I have decided to let you out for the moment,' Dragaunus simply said. 'You shall assist my bounty hunter in eliminating the resistance."
Lucretia, wanting to get out of that cell, leaped at the chance. "Y-yes, Lord Dragaunus! Anything you say."
"My bounty hunter shall meet you at these set coordinates. And Lucretia?" The red saurian tyrant put a claw to her throat. "Do not fail me again..."
Lucretia gulped."...I understand my lord..." Bowing to the red saurian, she disappeared in a flash. Lucretia reappeared in a saurian lair, where Dynamo Terror was waiting.
The horned reptile cut right to the chase."Lord Dragaunus wants us to eliminate the captain of this Resistance. Canard Thunderbeak."
"Right to the point, huh? So big boy, what's your plan?"
"To finish a warrior such as him, you don't go for his limbs. You go for his heart." He said to her. Lucretia just huffed, amusedly.
"Please, I've seen better plans in the funny books."
"And why do you think Lord Dragaunus asked you to join me?"
Before she could give a snarky retort, Lucretia realized just why she was to assist him. Because she had been with the resistance long enough to know their weak points. And to know about Canard, himself. And if they were to strike for his heart... "Dynamo Terror, I think I know just the weakness." She said, smiling in an evil way. This was great chance...for revenge on the one who humiliated her... Danielle Angelwing.
Pain. That was the first thing she felt when she woke up. Her head and face felt like she had been kicked there, and her throat felt like she had swallowed something smoldering and disgusting. As Danielle was opening her eyes, fighting the urge to keep sleeping, she thought she heard someone calling her name.
"Danielle? Can you hear me, dearie?"
"A-Amy?"
The white goose sighed with relief. "Oh, thank the stars..."
Danielle looked around and she noticed she was in Canard's dorm. How did she get here? The last thing she remembered was trying to tell Canard about Wildwing. Oh, wait...
"I think I passed out... from smoke inhalation."
Amy handed Danielle a cup of cold water. "Yes. Though it was a mild case, dearie." It was then, Abby walked in and saw Danielle.
"Hey there partner.' She said softly yet excitedly. 'How're ya feelin?"
"Uh...A bit light-headed, but I think I'm okay."
Abby patted the female duck's shoulder, chuckling with relief. "Gal, ya'll gave us a real fright when ya fainted."
"Indeed,' Amy chimed in. 'Canard insisted you sleep here, and to tell him when you woke up."
"Which reminds me...' Abby added before opening her comm. 'Cap'n come in. It's Waddlemeyer."
"What's up?" Canard replied.
"Angelwing just woke up."
There was a brief pause, and there was a quiet sigh on the other end. A relieved sigh. "I'm on my way."
"Got it. Over and out."
"Oh,' she said, her mind still clearing. 'On his way from where?"
"He had to ensure the civilians were fed and quartered," Amy explained, still pressing a damp towel to Danielle's forehead. "Now, how's your breathing?"
Danielle sat up some more, drinking the water she'd been handed. "It's fine, I'm all right." A thought occurred to her suddenly and she looked over to Abby. "How's Marcel?"
Abby grinned at her. "He's had better days, fer sure, but he's just fine thanks to you."
Danielle sighed with relief. "Good. Oh, I-I should... get up and help with the civilians." As she started to climb out of bed, Amy and Abby tried to stop her.
"Ah'd think twice about that, Danielle."
"Canard was dreadfully upset when you blacked out, if he finds out you're pushing yourself-"
"-He's gonn' skin us alive."
Danielle had managed to stand up. She felt a bit dizzy, but it's nothing serious. "I don't think it's that serious any more. Besides, as a medic I have to take care of those who need me..."
Until she started feeling light headed, a bad ache came to her face. Groaning in pain, Danielle had to sit down again. The two female geese helped her back into bed. "Uh-huh. What'd we tell ya?" Asked Abby. Then the door opened and Canard came in.
"How is she-!" He froze upon seeing Danielle sitting up in bed, clutching her head in pain. Seeing her body language made him think."Were you about to get up?"
"She's all right, Captain," Abby stated.
"Yes, she's just been around too much smoke," Amy agreed.
Danielle opened her eyes to look at Canard. "I was about to get up and start my shift. But my head hurts too much right now."
"Just because you're awake now does not mean you just get up and go about your day," Canard argued, staring at Danielle. "You blacked out, for DuCaine's sake. You need to rest."
