When Matt told Foggy and Karen about his predicament, he expected the laughter, he did not expect them to come up with a brilliant plan to give him the final laugh.

Hawkeye was expecting to learn more about Daredevil's secret identity, which on the current track he couldn't be farther from the truth. He would be expecting an exasperated lawyer would have been forewarned of his visit. He would not be expecting a clueless, lovesick

boyfriend who would tell him everything about his boyfriend. He would be spilling so much useless information on a fake person, that Hawkeye wouldn't even notice none of it was true.

So when Hawkeye came in, the whole setup was run by the three of them. From making him wait to Foggy having to grab some case files, all of it was planned.

They weren't quite sure how Hawkeye would attempt to talk to him, and Hawkeye giving them an actual case was a bit of a surprise, but it worked out in the end. Actually, this was better since now Hawkeye would have to come back and interact with them more.

It was the end of their work day and Matt was packing up his office supplies.

Foggy knocked on the door, not that he needed to for Matt to sense his presence. "Are you ready for part two?"

"Absolutely. I wish you could have witnessed it. I could smell him sweat as he figured out I had no clue," Matt said.

"You have to tell Karen and I everything tomorrow."

"Will do."

After the night fell, it didn't take long for Hawkeye to venture out onto the rooftops of Hell's Kitchen, and not long after that for Daredevil to find him.

Daredevil dropped down on the rooftop next to Hawkeye, and he could hear Hawkeye's heartbeat spike.

"What did I say about keeping my secret identity secret?" Daredevil growled.

"I am so sorry, I thought he knew!" Hawkeye backed up and put some space in between them.

Daredevil closed the space and shoved his finger in Hawkeye's face. "That's a very bold assumption for you to make."

Hawkeye moved Daredevil's hand away. "Look, I'm sorry. Once I realized, I kept my mouth shut and left. It's not like I actually revealed anything to Matt, who is very nice by the way. What does he see in you? Oh, poor choice of words. My bad."

Hawkeye was technically right, he didn't say anything too incriminating. Most of it had been explained away by the fake Daredevil's secret identity. Although the man was a bit goofy and thick headed at times, Daredevil had to admit he wasn't dumb.

"Look, I'll leave him alone and I won't bother him anymore," Hawkeye said. "I had my fun, I'll drop it."

"No."

"No?"

"You came to the firm with a case. It would be suspicious of you not to show up again."

"That's true, but," Hawkeye trailed off. "I'll be on official Avengers business. I'll be way too busy for a silly little lawsuit and then they'll drop it."

"Have you done your research?" Daredevil asked, slightly offended at the unintended slight towards his practice. "You do realize that they aren't just going to drop a disability lawsuit on behalf of an Avenger."

"Oh shit. I'm going to have to see this through, aren't I?"

"Yes."

"A whole lawsuit, while making sure I don't let anything else slip."

"Agreed."

"At the same time dealing with all the stuff I said before I knew that Matt didn't know."

"Those are the consequences to your actions."

"Are you sure I can't just sneak away?"

"Absolutely."

"You seem awfully smug for someone who doesn't want me to do this."

"Oh, believe me, I don't want you to talk to my boyfriend as much as you don't want to talk to my boyfriend." That was a lie. Daredevil was enjoying every second of this.

"Alright, I definitely need some time to think about how to approach this. So I will be away on some Avengers business for maybe about a week," Hawkeye said. "That would be enough time to plan my next move without making any of the law firm suspicious."

"You're acting like it's an undercover mission."

Hawkeye shrugged. "In a way, it is."

Daredevil stepped back into the shadows. "Don't mess this up." And then he disappeared from Hawkeye's sight.

Daredevil hung around before going on his rounds.

"Why does he always disappear like that? I can't tell if he was angry or disappointed," Hawkeye had mumbled to himself.

The next day at work Matt was bombarded immediately.

"How did it go?" Karen asked.

"Perfect." Matt smiled. "He was so nervous and wanted to avoid us entirely."

"That's a bummer," Foggy said. "I was looking forward to working for an Avenger. Imagine how much more business we would get afterwards."

"That's the best part, " Matt said. "I told him if he didn't follow through on the lawsuit, we would get suspicious."

Foggy clapped him on the shoulder. "Brilliant, brilliant Matthew!"

"I'm so asking for his autograph next time," Karen said.

"Speaking of, he said he would likely be coming back in about a week, so we have time to come up with more plans to mess with him."

"Should we keep in mind the ethical considerations of gaslighting an Avenger?" Karen posed the question to the group.

"Are they considering the implications of their actions are a group of vigilantes bound by no official law or government taking action without being held in check?" Foggy responded.

"Careful Foggy, that sounds like you support the Sokovia Accords." Karen retorted.

"Oh, no, never, but you have to admit, there are several big issues with the Avengers and SHIELD as a whole."

"Objection, off topic. Motion to redirect focus onto our plan to deal with Hawkeye," Matt said.

"Sustained, on the grounds it is renamed to Operation: Gaslight Hawkeye."

"Agreed."

"If he's needing to take time away from this to, recover, I guess is the word," Karen began, "then our next move should be to make sure he comes here as often as possible."|
Foggy snapped. "I like it. Mr. Hawkeye sir, we need you for this, Mr. Hawkeye sir, we need you in for that. You need to come in to do paperwork because our fax machine broke."

"Our fax machine did actually break last weekend."

"Oh really? I thought we hadn't been getting as much paperwork."

"If we're lucky," Matt said. "Hawkeye will get so annoyed that he'll buy us a whole new fax machine."

"That's the dream. " Karen sighed wistfully.

"I think he was particularly unnerved by you ranting about why you don't like vigilantes like Daredevil," Foggy said. "You need to do more of that."

"Ooh! If you need help coming up with ideas, I can make you a list of all the things the people at the newspaper have said about you that doesn't get printed."

"I appreciate your support, Karen."

Wish me luck y'all. I have my chem final tomorrow and instead of studying I finished writing part 2 of this. Please review or I'll have failed chem for nothing. Thanks babes
